Aiva bowed before taking Brantalis' hand. "It's an honor to meet you. I'm Aiva." She was glad to see the sage didn’t show prejudice towards Umbra. She had expected that someone so powerful would not be ignorant enough to assume all shades are evil, but it was still a relief. Why do people have to judge the entire shade race just because some of the shades that decided to bond with humans were evil? She came back to reality when she heard Umbra speak. He had changed back into his normal form. “I’m Umbra, Aiva’s bond." He said bowing to Brantalis, "I am very pleased to see you don’t share the common belief that all shades are evil."

Brantalis at first seemed a little surprised at being addressed directly by Aiva's companion. "No," he replied slowly. "Indeed I do not." He gave a slight bow of his head to the Shade. "I hope you will both enjoy our celebration this evening, before I allow you to however please let me to introduce some of the combatants that arrived here earlier today;" With that he stepped to the side and gestured towards Vilya and Sai.
"Vilya." Vilya said, placing a hand to her chest. "Nice to meet you." The gryphon stalked around her human companion and came to a halt near the Shade. Her mind voice was deep but gentle, expressing her calm indifference to Umbra's race.

"Hello Aiva, Hello Umbra." Sai said. "My name is Sai, I am pleased to meet you both. The feathered dragon resting under the tree over there," Sai gestured to his partner, "Is my partner, Stratus. So, if you don' mind my asking, what brings you to the area?"

Minatsuki's attention was turned when she had spotted a new person, but the day was long and she was getting tired of formalities; she would much rather go enjoy the festivities in the dead center of the town. Leaving Asako to her cousin, Minatsuki drifted off to different entertainments in the courtyard, socializing fast with the people. From her newly bought cloak, they immediately knew that she was a travelers and offered her many hospitalities. Receiving drinks with pleasure, Minatsuki enjoyed chatting with the town folks and entertain the children with some of her magnificent, exaggerated, battle and traveling stories; she was a people person and she enjoyed entertaining others.

((Has the tournament already happened?)) Aiva nodded to both Sai and Vilya. "I came here hoping to join the Combatant Tournament, but even if I can not participate in it, I still would like to battle other mages." she cast her gaze downwards before continuing, "It’s difficult to find mages that will battle Umbra and I, so I thought coming here would be a good opportunity to battle other mages." She was ashamed that she couldn’t get many people to battle her, even though there was nothing she could do about it. She lifted her gaze and looked at the sage. "I'd also like to battle you." He told the griffin, bowing slightly. ((Edit))

((No, the tournament is a very long ways off. The fight that we all had with Brantalis was just a Sage battle. And Brantalis is the only sage in the village, all of the other spellcasters are mages, Sages are like elite mages and are able to give out marks to mages that were able to defeat them.))

((Reborn? I thought it was only phoenix who were reborn...*is confused* did you mean to ask that to Asako? @_@; ))
"Ah, so you've come looking for a match with me." Brantalis had to admit to himself that even in his long years, he had never fought a Shade before. "Forgive me but I'm afraid I cannot leave the celebration, however tomorrow I may be able to get away long enough to test you."

A small column of men, only a dozen, walked up the main street of the village, toward the Sages castle. All were dressed identically in blood-red clothes: pants, boots, jacket, fingerless gloves, neck scarf, and head wrap. Their scarves and wraps were worn in such a way that all that was seen of them was their eyes, and their fingers could be seen poking out of their fingerless gloves. Some walked with staves as though they were walking sticks, more than half wore straight swords on their backs or at their waists. They walked with a calm confidence, they knew how to fight but also knew that they probably would not have to, their reputation nearly assured that. They were used to being obeyed, they were the Royal Imperial Guards.
Their Commanding Officer was determined to oversee the festival and make a thorough examination of Brantalis' castle. A contingent of Guards had been sent here to the village last year at the same time with the same mission. Brantalis had allowed them to observe, but not to oversee or interfere. And he had refused them access to his castle. The Commander of this unit, Commander Aruhl Gregor, was convinced that the Commander of the previous unit had been a weak minded fool. He had no intentions of being put off from anything that he intended to do. He would complete his mission, actually both of his missions.((Dun, dun, dun!! *dramatic music* And so we meet the Guards. I forgot to mention that all of them wear their binding stones in a ring on their left middle finger. and their swords look like this: Straightsword. Their staves are just simple wooden ones, though they are high quality wood.))

((Sorry! I had a brain fart. sweatdrop Silver Griffin, I meant mages, but I edited it, so your post made sense.))
"It's not a problem, it is a honor that you even accepted my challenge." Aiva said.She knew she wasn't going to win, but she wanted to see how good Brantalis was, and how much she needed to improve. "May I ask who your bond is?"

((YAAAY RAISTLIN! xDD I luffles that dude. Awesome choice of name, Chaos n-n I'm so sorry about your account though. ;w; That's terrible, what happened.)) Lamen was rather disappointed at Minatsuki leaving- remembering what had happened at the basin, she would have liked to speak to her as well. However, it couldn't be helped- it was a festival, after all. She figured it wasn't the time to be serious. Aiva seemed pretty stern, too, despite the circumstances and the cheerful air of celebration drifting around town. As she was attempting to memorize the other mages names, she was suddenly interrupted by her bonded.
She answered, nonchalant. Simurgh shrugged her wings, ruffling her shoulder feathers, and then got up. The bird said, a mischievous glint in her eyes as she helped Lamen up with her long, stork-like neck. The mage was both surprised and pleased at Simurgh's sudden enthusiasm, which fueled her motivation.
"Pardon my rudeness, but I shall take my leave to enjoy your festival, Brantalis." Lamen announced from atop her bonded, loud enough for those around her to hear. "Anyone interested in joining us in some magi games? Aiva, if you are seeking combatants, there should be an amateur tournament here somewhere."

((Chaos/Raistlin, good to have you back. We kinda needed you to get yourself introduced to everybody there yet. I added Raistlin on your character profile, so that everybody'll know that you and he are one and the same. For the time being we are going to have to assume that Raidek went his own way after the battle, creed is still being bogged down with schoolwork.))
"I'm going to have to decline the opportunity to battle with, for now at least, as well. I'm still pretty tired from battling Sage Brantalis and his dragons. Another time though, and I would most gladly take you up on that offer." Sai said.

((Well, as far as I can tell, Damiano kind of just blended in with the scenery. At least I didn't miss too much. And yes, Mythee, Raistlin is awesome. On another online board, a fan-site dedicated to the lovably cynical magus, I'm also known as the "cleric of Raistlin" because of my passion toward the character xd ))
Damiano had walked off without saying so much as a word to anyone as the crowd started to gather. He was not in the mood to present himself, especially near that shade. He could tell Arkanathalasana was worried about him, and he knew his companion had followed him carefully. He could not speak, not to him or anyone else, for fear of letting his fury get the better of him. This was one reason why he was travelling: to gain control over his emotions. Without control he would lash out and make mistakes. The Maghi Anima did not make such trivial errors in their lives, and he definitely would not.
Ark walked cautiously behind his companion, giving the human enough room to fume and allow his anger to harm no one. He knew this silence, the silence between them now, as a way of keeping the poisonous thoughts and emotions from seeping any further. Damiano was strong, all he needed was the time to sort it out. Meanwhile, the peace of the day and the festivities ahead of them would lengthen the fuse and restore the young man's humour.
~~~~~
Ark was finally able to say as the young mage approached the dragon. He watched a moment longer as Damiano gave the dragon a nod and what he could just make out as a smile. The anger had left his companion, and the dragon was relieved.
Damiano said with an ashamed tone. He had taken less time to regain control of himself, this time, however he still felt he could do better by not having to perform this exercise at all. he exclaimed, his reasoning as the dragon suspected.
Ark laughed and motioned toward the crowd of people by the gates. the great dragon said between his laughter. He was happy to see his companion in such an enthusiastic state again. It was refreshing.
Damiano simply nodded and quickened his pace toward the crowd. He didn't have to see to know that the shade and its mage were already there. The presence of a shade was uncanny, unforgettable. He would not let this dampen his spirits and he would try to make amends with this mage, if only the mage, so as to leave fewer burdens behind him. Ark followed his master calmly, smiling his wyrmling's smile that crept up every so often. The dragon, however great he was, was still young at heart and starting to get excited. The festival was commencing.((I figured some time had passed between when Kusanagi and Damiano spoke last so I split my post between that time frame and now. I hope a few minutes had passed between then and now. sweatdrop ))
