Can you train while holding a conversation?

We all get stuck, waiting for that certain someone to post. So my question is if you are allowed to train stats/jutsus/skills while waiting.

No rule says you cant. I've done it. You typically just have to find some way to cut off and politely move away till they are ready.

For this technique:
Rai Bunshin no Jutsu (Lightning Clone Technique) .

On the main techniques list... from reading the description and just, thinking about it... should not there be a paralysis effect for taijutsu damage from the clone? ...Or from hitting it or something? I looks like there was supposed to be, but it was never placed down.

For the essential skills, the equations all include 1d20 in them. For this part of the equation, for my template, should I roll a dice? Or should these stay at 0 for now? Thanks!

Do you mean when you are making your profile stats and skills up?

This thread is how to make up your profile.

Everything else is more to do with the RPing side of things.

Yea, Im making a new character, and everything is done, save for the alchemy, sneak, etc. skills. I don't know what they mean by the skill points. Do my 20 skill points go into those as I choose? Or are they going into the dex/str/wis/etc?

Okay so... have you read through the thread?

These are the main stats. I have linked what they relate to.

Quote:
Strength: 6 + 5 Mod:
Dexterity: 6 + 1 Mod:
Constitution: 6 + 2 Mod:
Intelligence: 6 + 4 Mod:
Wisdom: 6 + 1 Mod:
Charisma: 6 + 1 Mod:
Chakra: 6 + 6 = 12 Mod: [12 - 10] / 2 = 1.

Dodge Bonus: How hard it is to hit you. Attacking and dodging is explained in another thread so I won't go into detail, but in order to obtain your dodge bonus all you need to do is 10 + wisdom modifier + dexterity modifier.

The 6 is the base, the + 1, etc, is just an example of what to do with the 20 stat distribute points. They then equal the overall points of each stat. The mod

Read this carefully...

Skills are distribute only. You put 20 anywhere you want... just do not think you can rely on one skill only... some techniques or legacy weapons require up to four or five skills... Even training...

Send me the profile when you are done.

Yea I sent it, after reading all the stuff carefully. I just added the 20 skill points to a medley of the different things. It looks good. I sent it to you, so if you check back here before you read your PMs, one of them is from me. ^-^

Hii. C: I think I'm a little stuck.

I'm a little confused about the abilities part. I think I've worked it out and set it correctly, yet... I can't understand what the Mod part is for:

Quote:
Strength: 11 Mod:
Dexterity: 9 Mod:
Constitution:8 Mod:
Intelligence: 7 Mod:
Wisdom: 8 Mod:
Charisma:9 Mod:
Chakra: 8 Mod:
Dodge Bonus: 8

As you can see, I've distributed the points between these abilities, but what about the Mod part? How do I work out what goes there?

Also, the skills section later on. I've read through the step-by-step post, yet I don't know how to distribute the points. Are there base points to each skills?
Sorry if I'm not making much sense, my brother's trying to make me hurry up writing this because he wants his netbook back, so I can't really explain it properly. Could I have an example of how it should look and the equations I'd need with examples? I think that should help.
asdfghjkl sorry for the newbness.
So the stats:
A mod is calculated by +/-2 away from 10, is +1 in mod.

Strength: 11 Mod: 0 (Every third point on a stat,in a positive direction, dosen't change the mod. )
Dexterity: 9 Mod: -1
Constitution:8 Mod: -1
Intelligence: 7 Mod:-2 (Every third point on a stat, in a negative direction, changes the mod by -1. )
Wisdom: 8 Mod:-1
Charisma:9 Mod: -1
Chakra: 8 Mod: -1
Dodge Bonus: 8

Can't really explain it better at the moment xD.

You have 20 skill points to distribute at the beginning, to either mundane skills or ninja skills. Mundane skills will be used when certain DC's demands it. Such as training jutsus or performing certain actions in missions. Ninja skills enhances performance with certain weapons and jutsu categories(ninjutsu, taijutsu, genjutsu..).

Okay, well the equation for a mod looks like this...

Quote:
[stat - 10] / 2, rounding DOWN.

... which can be found in the What is d20? thread. So your character's strength mod will be 0.

11 strength points - 10 = 1.
1 divided by 2 is 1/2.
1/2 rounded down is 0.

No base skill points. The amount of skills you start off can be calculated with this formula found in the [ESSENTIAL] Skills thread.

Quote:
Starting skill points: Your character starts with [(level x 10) + 10] skill points to distribute. For example if your character is level 1 you would have [(1 x 10) + 10] = total distributable 20 skill points.

So yeah like Dimi said, you have 20 skill points to spend. Just note that you have a skill cap to watch out for.

Quote:
Skill cap: There is a cap (limit) on the amount of points you can distribute into each individual skill. Of course trained points can exceed this cap.
The cap is: Level + 20.

Meaning, that at your current level the MAX number of skill points you can put into say... ninjutsu is 21. Of course, since you have 20 total to spend, this won't be a problem for you now but it'll be a concern in the future.

I'm assuming that these are your stats including the base 6, which I personally recommend labeling separately to make keeping track of your points easier, but that is up to you. If you like, this is the formate that I use, applied to your stats:

Base Points / Distribution Points / Training Points / Clan Bonuses / Final Mod

Strength Mod: 6 + 5 + 0 + 0 = 11 - 10 = 1 / 2 = 0
Dexterity Mod: 6 + 3 + 0 + 0 = 9 - 10 = -1 / 2 = -1
Constitution Mod: 6 + 2 + 0 + 0 = 8 - 10 = -2 / 2 = -1
Intelligence Mod: 6 + 1 + 0 + 0 = 7 - 10 = -3 / 2 = -2
Wisdom Mod: 6 + 2 + 0 + 0 = 8 - 10 = -2 / 2 = -1
Charisma Mod: 6 + 3 + 0 + 0 = 9 - 10 = -1 / 2 = -1
Chakra Mod: 6 + 2 + 0 + 0 = 8 - 10 = -2 / 2 = -1

If this is the case, you still have 2 more distribution points to settle among your stats.

Now, based on what level you are, the amount of skill points you have to distribute are set by this formula [(your level x 10) + 10], so at this point you have 20 skill points. All your character creation questions can be answered by the Character Creation Thread
