She nodded, keeping her eyes on the cards as instructed, though she did feel tempted to look over to Jubilee as she counted down. It didn't seem like anything had happened. The red head reached out to take the card, looking at it. "Oh my gosh! How... That was amazing!~" Rose exclaimed, holding up the seven spades and examining it, and seeing that her card was actually now at the bottom of the deck. She definitely had no clue how it had happened, other than it was magic! Real magic! Rose was totally convinced.

He'd noticed it before, but it was only now that he registered how crowded the area was. It made sense, it had been highly promoted and the idea of a renaissance fair was enough to pique the interest of most, even outside the Unova region-- take his family for instant. Rationalizing didn't help the spike in paranoia Huey felt, however, and he instantly reached up to take his father's hand. Places like these.. it was worse than back home! Huey turned away from the crowds to look over at Prim who was busy circling Klefki, diving in to leave only an inch between them before she shot back to a more appropriate proximity. Whatever she was doing she seemed to be enjoying herself, and Klefki didn't appear to mind-- though it was hard to tell with the poker face he was fronting. Huey didn't see the need to intervene, not yet at least. The boy looked away from his pokemon and up at his father, who was messing with his phone while he waited for the line to go down. "Hey dad," he spoke up to the man before he began absently swinging their hands back and forth, further requesting his attention. "Where's mom and the others?" His father looked up from his phone before he smiled, "last time I checked in, they were in the dining area. We'll be heading there next." Huey nodded at this answer and then looked away, excited to see his mother after... what? A few months? He was excited to see the rest of his family too, but his mother was gone often, still going about doing her own journey. It wasn't often he got to see her.

MD couldn’t help but grin widely at the enthusiasm the two showed for the trick, giving Jubilee a bit of a side glance to see that she too seemed rather overjoyed. He chuckled a bit as both of them immediately set about asking him how he’d done it, a finger wagging through the air as he straightened up.
"Why thank you!" He replied to praise, a twinkle in his eye. At the question of how he’d done it, he just grinned again tilting the deck back down so the bottom card wasn’t visible before he gave the top of it a quick tap with his index finger. "Why, with magic of course." He remarked, pulling the top card off to once more reveal the ace of diamonds that now was on top, flipping the bottom of the deck up again to show that it had changed again. "That’s what we magicians use after all." With that he gave a little swoop of a bow, eyeing the pair a moment rather happy with the glee going around. Why, he almost felt young again. Not that he was all that old to begin with but that wasn’t the point. It was nice for once… to get to focus on the nice things.
"Thank you both! You’ve been a wonderful audience." He chimed happily, holding a hand out to take the card back from Rose. Once he’d retrieved it he shoved it back into the deck, handing it off once more to Jubilee who promptly, with a clap between her hands, made it disappear from sight once more, hands falling to her hips in pride. "Yup! All in the magic!" She added herself, adjusting her little half cape a bit as she did.

The next jousting race didn’t go all that well and Uriah slowly found himself growing frustrated with these betting games. Maybe there was a trick to it and he was missing it? Maybe he should take a break and watch to get an idea on who was good to bet on as opposed to blindly betting for whoever. That was… probably a smart idea. With a sigh, he headed back to Murphy and Chromie at the bobbing game, noting that they didn't seem to have much luck either. Well... at least he wasn't the only one suffering.

Vince was quite happy with his good fortune, though Olivia's comment on hoping his fortune lasted longer made him give her a curious look, mostly because of the sly tone she was using. What was she trying to imply....? Before he could inquire or comment though, he was distracted with helping a ballsmith fend off some Plasma grunts trying to destroy his stock, and when he was finished, he returned to Olivia with an apology for leaving her behind. Though, unsurprisingly she seemed perfectly content with his choices on the matter, given she probably would have done the same thing if their situations were reversed, and she even commended him for showing the grunts up. Her pride in him was a little embarrassing but.... Still, it felt nice, and Vince gave a sheepish sort of smile, scratching his head and averting his eyes from her beaming face, lest he start blushing or something even more embarrassing like that.
The happy moment didn't last long though, as all of their little moments like this seemed to be going, as a grunt charged in and had her liepard kick up some sand at their faces. Thankfully Xiu Feng's attack would hit regardless of her lowered accuracy, but Vince had been blinded, making him rather angry, especially when the losing Plasma grunt tried to take Xiu Feng, something Vince refused to allow; even when blinded. After driving off the grunt and freeing Xiu Feng, Olivia stepped in to help him with his eyes, brushing his hands away from his face as she instructed him not to rub them since that would only make the situation worse. "Right, right...." Vince agreed. He had been trying to be careful not to rub his eyes, and only wipe the tear ducts out, but it was probably best he just not touch them at all and flush them out with water like Olivia had suggested. Vince agreed, though he had to insist that they leave the area in favor of one less populated by Plasma grunts.
Now that they were in agreement, Olivia took his hand to guide him through the crowd, though not before suggesting that he sheathe his katana given that there were a lot of people around. Vince frowned in her direction, clearly not keen on being defenseless in case another grunt bum rushed them like last time. Plus he was confident that he could just hold the blade down at his side and it wouldn't be a big deal, but when Olivia insisted that she would keep him safe, Vince begrudgingly slipped the sword back in it's saya, grumbling a bit under his breath. Afterwards, he let her lead him away towards a quieter area of the fair, and hopefully towards a source of water to wash his eyes out with.

And MD continued to show off as he talked to them, rearranging the cards, and then ultimately handing them to Jubilee, who made them disappear. "That's so cool! Have you always had magic? Or did you have to practice it a lot? Can you do any other tricks? Do your pokemon help you? Do you perform often?" he asked, grinning eagerly as he practically bounced in place while asking his questions.

After a few more minutes were spent waiting Huey's father was finally able to pay for the costumes and the two headed away from the stall, stopping at a nearby directory so that he could look for the area the rest of their family was settled in. "Okay, so it's actually called the 'Canterbury Kitchens'," he informed the blonde, prompting him to tilt his head to the side curiously. "What's so funny?" The man shook his head, "oh, nothing. I'm just... remembering high school, they had us read this book called 'The Canterbury Tales'," the man sighed softly in memory. "Alright, squirt, you wait right here. I need to call your mom and make sure she's still there," he said, ruffling Huey's hair before he moved off to the side and took out his phone.
Huey pouted gently, two small hands reaching up to try and fix his hair back into its position; Andrew, Leon, his father... what was it about his hair that people liked to ruffle!? He didn't mind it, but... geez... The boy was still fixing his hair when a man suddenly lurched towards him, nearly losing his step and fully colliding into Huey before he caught himself. "Oh, uhm, excuse me!" the young boy practically shouted, surprised, and instantly gained the attention of his father, who stopped mid-sentence in his phone call to look up at his son. "Very sorry 'bout that..." the man muttered, his apology so low it was barely audible, then shuffled away. His father continued staring, hard, but after a moment he slowly turned back to his phone call, though his eyes were now settled firmly on Huey.
Though a bit off-put by the man Huey didn't think much more about it, not until Klefki suddenly zipped in front of his face, body moving wildly. "Uwaah?" He furrowed his brow in confusion and concern, not understanding his frantic motions until he literally forced his head in the other direction, the same one the man had gone to, and made him look closely, close enough to see he had a struggling Prim in his hand. "Dad!" the boy yelped and immediately the man was by his side. "What? What is it!?" Huey's face scrunched up and looked seconds away from crying, his father's panic only sky-rocketing. "That man! H-he stole Prim!""W-what!?" he swiveled his head in the direction of the man. "Alright, let's just.. think for a moment, I'm sure they have some sort of security here.." Huey shook his head, "there's no time!" He was going to lose... why did this... he was going to-- Huey shook his head once more, more frantically this time, before he darted off, easily slipping through the gaps left by larger body. "Huey, wait!" his father called out, but by then it was already too later and Huey was gone. Without any other choice he began to try and follow after his son, though was unable to slip past as easily as the boy and soon he'd lost sight of him.

MD gave Marx a grin, hands resting inside his pockets now as he let the pair revel in the few tricks he’d done. He would’ve continued on but well, you didn’t want to wear out the tricks too quickly. Of course, he still had plenty up his sleeves. He chuckled at the questions the young man threw his way, an eyebrow quirking as a sly smile crossed his face.
"Well no. Let’s just say I had to do a lot of dealing to get the magic I have today." He remarked in an obviously joking tone. Of course, with what he was currently gathering from Marx and Rose, they might’ve very well believed the claim which he was alright with too. With a little twirl of his wrist a blue handkerchief appeared in hand, fiddling with it between his hands as he continued to talk. "But yes. Just like anything else, I’ve practiced a lot. And I do, I’ve got even bigger tricks than just cards." He remarked, stuffing the kerchief into a fisted hand before pulling it out the other side, the color changed from blue to red.
"Only some of them. I’m big on not using pokemon, too easy for people to just discredit the tricks, you know?" He remarked, noting the little giggle Jubilee gave. It was for the most part, the truth. He had no real issue using certain pokemon for performances, but he certainly didn’t want people to think he was relying on their tricks and abilities to do his trick. No he believed in being a true blue magician. Stone cold real.
He stopped fooling with the handkerchief though at the inquiry of if he performed often, joyful expression fading a bit to a sort of stern, thoughtful one. "Ah… no. Not really." He remarked, shifting in place before shoving the cloth back into his pocket, free hand raising to ruffle the back of his hair. That was apparently a bit of a sour thought for him. Jubilee frowned, quickly pinching the man in the back to bring him back around.
"Ah!" MD jumped, glancing at her a moment before looking back to Marx and Rose with an apologetic smile. "Sorry about that. But no, I don’t. But I hope to someday. Preferably on a big stage that’ll fit my ‘big’ tricks."

Better! Murphy and Chromie cheered as they managed to destroy two of the three platters. They were slowly getting the handle on this whole aiming thing. Uriah even grinned and a thought crossed his mind before he ushered them over to the crossbow game. Setting each up so they could fire, he took a moment to watch and witness the really close shots the pair managed. It was impressive how quickly they adjusted to make the shots count after the first one hadn’t been all that great, nearly landing bullseyes the second and third time. Of course, they were having fun too and cheered as they collected even more tokens.

Uriah had his own stroke of luck too. Having finally taken the moment to sit and actually watch the races, he’d placed a bet and found himself the proud owner of a first place winning ticket. He was practically ranting in joy, causing Murphy and Chromie to watch him with a bit of surprise. He was certainly starting to enjoy himself, a sight that Murphy wasn’t accustomed too. Chromie didn’t really know better having just joined the team, but the little Charmander had gotten the feeling that the Zorua was a rather… ‘serious’ soul. But that was alright. It was good to see him having fun!

Marx quirked his head to the side, looking sincerely curious. "Deals? Whoa, like what?" he asked, his eyes wide. The only thing that came to mind was sort of... 'deal with the devil', but that couldn't be right, could it? MD wouldn't sell his soul for magic! ... Would he? Hm... He straightened as the magician proceeded to mention 'bigger tricks', and a big grin crossed over his face, his eyes lighting up. That sounded awesome! "Like making a dragonite disappear!?!" he asked excitedly, positively bouncing in place once again. He rubbed at his nose and tugged his ear a bit, fidgeting excitedly, and glanced briefly over at Rose. Which almost made him miss the magic trick-- but not quite.
If this were a show, his eyes would probably be sparkling as he watched in awe, a broad, open grin on his face as the kerchief seemed to change colors before their eyes. Sort of. "Whooooaaaa....." For once Marx was actually able to keep his voice quiet, so that he didn't interrupt MD's explanation. He lifted himself up some, trying to focus on listening, nodding a bit as he tried to follow everything. He blinked when Jubilee appeared to pinch him, though. He looked at her questioningly, but then flashed a grin to the magician. "No problem!" he replied, grinning.
He paused, though, as something seemed to occur to him. "Ah... hey, I'll be right back," he decided, stepping away, "I gotta go check on my pokemon real fast! I'll try and be right back!" He gave a wave, and then... he was off. Again.

Huey continued to push through the crowd, letting out apologies when someone shouted out angrily. Though he'd almost lost sight of the man he'd quickly been able to catch up, but in the process he'd lost his father. He felt bad, especially when he'd been the one worrying about getting separated from him, but he couldn't just... sit around while someone got away with his pokemon! They could be long gone by the time any sort of security arrived, away with his pokemon. The man took a sharp turn, exiting from the crowd, and Huey did the same, following the man to a more isolated area.
"Give me back my pokemon!" Huey's voice echoed through the air and the man turned around sharply, revealing his entire form. For a moment he looked frightened but, once he'd assessed that Huey was alone, he regained some confidence. "Beat it, kid!" he sneered, eyes narrowing. "No!" he shouted back, hands balling into fists. "Not until you give me back Prim!" He didn't know why this man had chosen him to steal from him, but he wouldn't have any of it. In a moment of bravery, or perhaps stupidity, Huey ran forward and latched onto the man's arm, doing his best to try and get him to release Prim, who was still held within his grasp. What he got, instead, was pushed away and an angry grunt towering over him. "Knock it off, kid!" he growled. "A child like you could never understand how keeping pokemon is no different than slavery!" What... what was he going on about? "Now stay put! I don't hit kids, but that'll change if you don't stay where you!"
At the man's threat he couldn't help but to tremble, and despite his bravado he could feel tears beginning to p***k his eyes. He sniffled, hard, but in a last-ditch effort to try and take back Prim he rushed the man once more, only to be knocked down to the ground. "What did I tell you!?" Teas began to roll down his eyes, and with his watery vision he failed to see Yuki emerge from her pokeball, her capsule having fallen off his loop when he'd fallen. "Huey..." Her expression hardened when she saw that her trainer was crying, the temperature dropping another ten degrees, then turned an in icy gaze towards the grunt. "What did you do?" she asked quietly, her voice nothing but a whisper in the man's head. "What did you do to my Huey!?"
