‖ Who: Ceru, Lyosha, Ryker‖Thoughts: Outside? Ew ‖‖Ambiance: End of Innocence‖Profile‖System Loading... Herja Activated ‖ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Netami listened to the headmaster intently, or as much as she could when Lyosha arrived soon after her. She hadn't seen him much the last week or so, but she was pleased to see him still as lively as ever. He wore a hat and looked uncomfortable. Netami didn't speak, or mention it, as he came forward. She blinked slowly at his words, wondering why he was pointedly staring at her when he finished.
She was confused but chimed, "Yes, it is good Ceru survived his attack. Jannet also remained in the present despite her Grimm attack and subsequent massive blood loss. We were all rather lucky we had each other to help." Netami stared down Lyosha as she responded. She wasn't one to look away, or care of the humanistic itch to hide one's eyes from another predator. She cocked her head, looking Lyosha over. The Herja's behind her twitched to attention, a vibration settling over them as their soulless eyes pierced Lyosha. "Don't you agree, Lyo? That it is very good we have allies to protect one another?"
A flurry of wings later and Netami's attention was on the other student she did not know. he pulled open a box that intrigued her, and she moved forward towards him. Looking down at the strange box, she hummed with excitement. "Five units, five boxes." Blinking, realizing he had asked them something, she looked up and responded, "Netami. It is... nice to meet you." She sounded strained, slightly off. Back in her element, she peered out to the other boxes and nodded. "Top left, bottom right, interesting. The other crates might hold the secret to this password." She perused to the second crate, opening it up easily. Her eyes flitted across both pieces of paper, they sitting idly upon separate tables. She reads it aloud to the group and ponders it. "Possibly one person left. A daughter is a mother." She saids it loud enough so others could chime in with their opinions as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lyosha looked around- but stared at the headmaster who he had previously met on a mission- but didn’t really care for. In fact- he still sort of disliked the Headmaster. He beat around the bush far too many times in the mission as he spoke slightly. Which he naturally...disliked. He almost seemed relieved whenever he spoke of what the class was. Lyosha knew he was most likely going to fail this class but he thought he might as well have fun while he was failing. He nodded almost instictively at Netami’s words, and her final two questions made him snap back to reality once more. “Oh yeah! It’s nice that we have allies, it’s just that we have our faults. Hopefully we used our mission as a way to learn how not to let our allies almost get eaten!” He said, loudly and with a laugh- faked, but nevertheless it was a laugh as he adjusted his cap slightly. It seemingly was tight fitting- off of his forehead slightly.
He looked to Ryker just as he looked at him and the group that was- well- his team! Giving a nervous smile, Lyosha pulled his cap further onto his forehead in fright. He never wore a cap- but he was scared that he was contagious. Random sharp lumps on his head? Nobody wanted those! He was a human- what kind of disease that wasn’t terrible gave you these kinds of symptoms? He hoped nobody noticed, even though the cap sat slightly more forward from his forehead. He gave a small wave as he heard the introduction. “Well- hey Ryker! My name’s Lyosha Fava Rodion Ruric- or well, Lyo for short. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He said as he looked to the boxes that well- Ryker began opening. The first one- massive and intimidating even for Lyosha. He took a gulp as he stretched and followed Ryker slightly. As he saw what was in the box- he only seemed confused. A class he sucks at...on top of being scared of what was on his head, this didn’t seem like it was going to be fun.
It was almost embarrassing how much he blanked out whenever he saw what was in the box., His eyes became dull as he became lost in thought. Not even focused on anything but whenever he spoke again he jumped- almost like a big cat shocked by attention. He blinked and looked around, walking towards a random box. “Oh- well, 5 digits in a cybernetics class? A robot! Not ‘A’, but robot! Put that in, if not just break it open- can’t be too hard can it?” He said as he gripped the rope that tied the box number 3, tearing it and letting the box fall apart to reveal the arm wrestling machine. He bent down slightly to read what it said. “Hm, well- duh, a machine is going to be stronger than a human- Faunus- whatever...But-” He said as with a chuckle as he turned from the rest of them and took off the hat- revealing the sharp, horn like nubs on his head but he kept his head down. Being a stronger person but also- not a complete idiot- he decided to take the non-sentient arm down with a cheap trick. He stretched a little bit and almost threw his body, arm and hand into the arm. Not only pushing all of his strength into it, but his weight and the acceleration from his movement towards the arm-wrestling machine.

'Big guy kind heart?' was the first thought that came to his mind though he wouldn't know for certain till he interacted with him more. While he was a bit curious on what the guy was trying to hide, himself or something else, beneath the cap Ryker didn't press on it for now. He just met the guy; if things went well he could always ask later. Plus they had the impending doom of failing class to contend with currently. He would give a wave and introduce himself with his full name; a long one. Thankfully he gave a nickname for short Lyo, for Ryker to use. Which was good cause he had forgot everything but Rodion Ruric cause he hadn't expected it to be long. The other girl, flanked by robots, didn't really respond till he opened the box. Even then her first words were about the crates before she introduced herself as Netami Mikaelson. The girl also seemed...uncertain on introductions. Her own one was a bit strained for whatever reason; breaking the ice was always awkward though so Ryker figured it was like regular school and you got assigned to a group of strangers for a project. 'Just with waaaaay higher stakes now,' he thought to himself. They would both also, thankfully, give their opinions on the machine. While Netami said it may need other boxes which he was thinking may be the case since it had those red marks, Lyo seemed to get surprised and would come to the conclusion that maybe the answer was as simple as robot? And a suggestion to break the thing...which if the guy could do it Ryker would not complain in the slightest. Ryker for sure couldn't though; why couldn't they get a teacher that had test banks online or something...
Pushing the thought from his mind, Ryker figured he would try it anyway and see in a bit; he wanted to see what were in the other ones briefly first. "I'm gonna check out what the other crate says first, but i'll definitely try robot; no harm in it at least," Ryker would say aloud as he would begin to walk to crate 4, but would stop when he heard Netami speak aloud. Her answer was that maybe one person is left, and that the daughter was a mother. Thinking on the puzzle, Ryker would get a different idea in mind for how it could have gone down. "Maybe...No...Umm...Your version may be better than the one that came to my mind. So would it be a grandmother, her daughter, and her grand daughter then? That way its one mother, one who is both a mother and daughter, and one who is just a daughter; so 3 people and 3 eggs! Maybe. If one died...it could be one or two people left. Depending if it was grandma or mom; we can try each one and see though? Though if it says just a mother is dead...maybe 2 is the more likely one?" Ryker would chip in. In truth, if Netami hadn't said a daughter could be a mother, he would've had no clue. This was his best guess with the info though; he wondered, if it were right, why there were two possible answers. He was just guessing along her line; if her assumption was wrong they were dead in the water.
As he moved on, he would see Lyo...go to town on an arm wrestling machine. Cheating or no, Ryker approved as they needed all the help they could get; Aurtrox wanted out of the box questions so he would get out of the box solutions. Ryker would see the 5 on the box change to 4; he really wished there would've just been confetti and a congratulations. "The number went from 5 to 4...does it mean you have to win 4 more times or is it a code we get eventually by winning enough?" Ryker would ask aloud, spit-balling, as he reached crate 4. Pulling at it to open...he would see an atlesian droid and power box!? He had instinctively put his hands up, expecting a killer droid, but it spoke a....riddle instead? "I thought we were in a math/cybernetics class, not a riddle class...' he sighed as he complained aloud."Red is dead. Dead is red. How many feet, rounded down, would the distance be between dead and red? Subtract ten and there lies the answer you seek...Uhhh....any ideas on what could be dead and what is red?" he asked aloud, head spinning at these puzzles and they still had one more unknown one. Shaking his head, he would leave that one and go back to box one; typing in robot as an answer. He really hoped it was as simple as that.

Cerulean tried his best to stay focused and attentive to the teacher, or rather headmaster but, the poor penguin’s arm decided now was a good time to tingle with ants all over. He was desperate to scratch but he couldn’t quite shove his hand into the cast. Luckily he had found that a pen slipped into it served quite the useful purpose. As the others began working on the various crates Ceru sat on the ground jamming the pen into his cast, twisting, wiggling and swaying it in various ways to get all that was driving him nuts. After a few minutes he finally felt relief which was shown with a sigh. Oh how casts were such a burden.
Walking over to chest number two where Netami was, though he hadn’t quite heard her read it out loud, nor give her answer.
"Two mothers and two daughters sat down to eat eggs for breakfast. They ate exactly three eggs, each person had an egg. One mother is murdered, how many people are left?"
Scratching his head with his nonbroken hand he thought out loud. ”Each person had an egg. of course. Why would you share an egg. It’s tinny. Two and two is four though so if it were four people it’d be 4 eggs… right? but… 3 eggs. 1 murdered…. hmmm hmmm. 3 minus 1 is two. TWO PEOPLE!”
He nodded quite satisfied hoping that was the correct answer.
Lyosha forced it to the other side, taking a breath and gripping his hand ever so slightly, *That was….anticlimactic* he thought as he saw the ticker go down by one- but only on this box. He grabbed his thrown hat and put it back on- realizing that he actually wanted to hide what was on his head. He took a breath and turned around. “Hey- everyone, does your boxes have any- uh- tickers! Do they have any of these tickers on them or is it just this one?” He asked as he moved out of the way to show that the box had the ticker. “See if yours has this- I’m goin’ to try to win this again to see if it does anything.” He said as he stretched slowly, looking about and listening. Hopefully this was just as easy as last time, he had an itching feeling that this wouldn’t be getting any easier and time wasn’t their friend as of the moment. Lyosha swung his arm a bit, stretching slightly as he threw his body, arm and all his strength into this poor machine. He wasn’t smart- he knew this, he just wanted to help the group with something he could do. Riddles and math- they hurt his head in all honesty. Mathematics- he nearly failed the class in highschool, how could he do any better now? Hopefully...Hopefully he would do this, to do anything good in this class.

Ryker ▬ The answer typed, "Robot" would disappear as soon as he clicked the enter button. The screen would simply display these words: "Wrong. Try Again." Then turn back to the blank screen with 5 character slots. He would hear a faint mechanical laughing noise from the safe. Almost as if Aurtrox had placed a voice box inside just to mock them when they got the answer wrong.
Lyo ▬ This time the machine wasn't so easy. Lyo could hear gears cranking up that were not utilized last time. The machine gave way a little bit, but right after that it slammed down and defeated Lyo in the match. It swiftly reset, but the ticker stayed the same at four.

"How are we supposed to know if the answer is right!? Mine or yours!?" He complained as he put a hand on his hip, lips pouting out as he gazed out at the headmaster. What was this man!? Evil!? A true villain for making poor Cerulean Wai Fae having to think so hard! Thats when an idea hit him! Why not ask the man. Gears in his head twisted and turned, shifting into his typical hyper self. Aura radiated around his body as he dashed towards the headmaster. "Oh headmaster siiiiir" He blurted out as he glided on step at a time, although a bit wabbly due to the lack of extra balance from his broken arm. "In field we can ask for outside help soooo I wanna a......" The poor penguin lost his balance faceplanting hard into the ground next to the first box. "ck........" Originally he was going to say ask but his lips hitting the floor did wonders to the word. "Owieeeee" He complained as he slowly began to lift himself up, his eyes catching a hit of red on the box. "RED!?" He gasped as the lines from one of the boxes came to his mind. Picking himself off from his feet, he moved with caution so he wouldn't fall again with his semblance still active.
"Red is dead. Distance between red and dead. The one dead is... box 2? Maybe? but riddle of box five also says.... dead in it.... hmm hmmm UGH MY HEAAAAD." He complained. "Well.. maybe its the distance between one of the boxes so... if I were to measure all of the boxes from box 1, one of them is bound to be right." He tapped his chin. "BUT HOW TO MEASURE!?" An idea clicked. Flopping back onto the ground he would use his body to measure the distance between the first crate and the second crate. He was probably very wrong, he was not realizing that maybe the true answer was simpler, the distance between the two read corners, basic triangle math.

'Of course it couldn't be that easy and they had to put in that laugh track,' he thought to himself with a sigh and annoyance. He was wracking his mind on this stuff and drawing a blank; 'Why does every math teacher like doing impossible scenarios,' he complained in his mind. He was wondering if he should just start guessing on this machine cause they had little other choice. He had a feeling maybe it had something to do with the other crates...or those red marks...but he had no clue what that could be at this time. The timer they had was not helping him in terms of critical thinking. Feeling a bit desperate, since Netami hadn't said what he thought was the answer for two yet but Cerulean would agree with his and yell it...with no response. Ryker would yell aloud to Aurtrox since there didn't seem to be anywhere to even submit an answer to at least know if it mattered or not; if he ignored it this time then they could just assume that meant they were wrong and the answer was one. "Two people are left," he would yell up to the headmaster; the only place he could think to submit this riddles answer. If two wasn't the answer then it had to be one...he hoped. If not he had no idea how to solve this riddle. He would note that the cast kid would also call out to the headmaster, saying in the field they could ask for outside help, but whatever he was going to say next would be lost as he seemed to slip and fall. Ryker winced at the fall as it did not look like a soft one. The guy rebounded quickly though, and as he spoke he seemed to have an idea of how to solve a riddle. He seemed to have an idea for the red is dead riddle; one Ryker still was unsure on how to solve. He mentioned there being two possibilities, so if they measure distance from both one had to be right. But they didn't have a ruler or anything to accurately do so. Then the guy laid on the ground and began...measuring it with his body? "Good idea. If we know your height, we can roughly guess the distance between them!" Ryker would say, following along and encouraging Ceru's plan.
[Post 2] Ryker would look up to the sky again, towards Aurtrox, regardless of whether his answer was right or wrong. "Can we get a hint on how to solve this stuff; or an idea of the mindset/context to have for it with these crazy scenarios?" he would yell up to the head master. He really needed some kind of hint or clue to start unlocking the rest of these puzzles; the only straight forward one seemed to be the arm wrestling machine. It was about then that Ryker realized the big guy had asked about tickers or something; realizing he meant the five to four thing Ryker would look but didn't see any for now at least. He hoped each box didn't have five stages. That would be complete BS. "I don't think so; i'll give a closer look but I think it is just yours," Ryker would tell him and double check to see. If he saw any he would report it, if not then there was none. With that done, he would see Lyo try to overpower it...but that machine fought back hard and beat him this time around. Here, let me give you a hand. There weren't any rules saying we couldn't double team this thing," Ryker would say and would go over to Lyo and look to him. "I know I'm not as strong as you, but maybe with me helping we can get more leverage and weight on this thing to beat it," Ryker would offer to him. If he was allowed, Ryker would help Lyo in trying to force the machine arm into submission by adding his own weight/leverage against it. Tag teaming the arm wrestling machine. Was it technically cheating? Probably, but given everything was stacked against them Ryker was doing whatever it took. 'It is also like he said; some riddles requires more than one person. There aren't any written rules or otherwise saying it has to be one on one; team work and all that,' Ryker thought to himself.

Lyosha Fava Ruric wasn’t one to lose in a test of strength. It's what he worked all of his life to perfect and increase, so when the machine started to push him back he’d grip the other side to grab more leverage but it didn’t budge. He grunted as it slammed his hand onto his side, it didn’t hurt, no, but the blow to his ego pride. Lyo saw it slowly rise and reset. The message on it- he read it again and it angered him. Small tendrils of red and black started to flow very faintly off of him. “You son of a-” He started to say before Ryker spoke to him. He turned towards the person, adjusting his hat on his head and nodded. “Okay...it’s just mine...So we need to beat this thing 4 more d*mn times then…” he said, irritated but not in a rage. He would nod to his helping him beating this machine. “Don’t say that, you’re probably much stronger than me-” He said with a small laugh as he gripped the machine with a breath and waited for him to grab onto it. “If this doesn’t work I swear-” He said with a grunt, “My semblance may just activate…” He said with a grimaced tone. It’s not so much may...I know it will happen since I’m already this angry at this machine. I don’t know how it can be this strong! If we just throw yellow dust in the machine it would break and we’d be done with this part. He thought to himself as he used his other hand and arm to grip onto the other side of the machine with a deep breath. “Are you ready Ryker?” He said, but he didn’t need to check. Once Ryker had put his hand on, Lyosha Fava Rodion Ruric would put as much pressure and strength into the machine as he could. His veins popped out and muscles tensed up, he gritted his teeth to the point where if he didn’t move his teeth (which he did) they would shatter. Shouting, “PUT YOUR ENTIRE BODY INTO IT!” For he was an...Intense figure to be close to, and a loud one at that. If Ryker was extremely close to him, he could feel how hard his skin was-like a rock, and gripping onto it would almost be like gripping a sharp and cold stone.

‖ Who: Ceru, Lyosha, Ryker‖Thoughts: Outside? Ew ‖‖Ambiance: End of Innocence‖Profile‖System Loading... Herja Activated ‖ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Netami listened to everyone around her. She looked to Cerulean as he practically face planted on the ground to measure the distance between the boxes. She watched Lyosha battling with the arm wrestling machine with Ryker's help. She ordered a Herja over to their side, trying to help tag-team the arm if they indeed had to get it down to 0. She wondered if they could simply short circuit it with water.
"Cerulean," she called, "Do you have any water you can pour on that wrestling arm when you're done?"
After she asked, an idea popped in her head. Giving commands to the Herja she just ordered to help tag-team the hand, she ordered it to sit and press the start button. Instead of fighting the mechanical arm, the Herja was instructed to lose instead. The counter going down could be how many times they had to win, or how many times they had left to get the correct answer.
Turning back to the first crate, Netami quirked her brow. The second Herja began tapping each side of the box, seeing if it could get the safe open in any way. With a tap of her chin, Netami clicked the 'Enter' button on the keyboard. Five spaces, five characters. Were they looking for hidden clues in the other crates, or the red corners? Or perhaps the simplest answer was that they password was already typed in for them. If it didn't work with no input, she would wait to type a binary. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aurtrox would see the students struggling and Ceru flop on the ground running to him with a question. He normally wouldn't intervene, but he did feel bad for the poor penguine faunus, so he hopped off the top of the building and glided down to a gentle landing in the middle of the group, but closer to crate one than anything else. "In life, we often have very little direction. It is up to our own minds to create a framework by which to judge things." Aurtrox said with a kind tone."Often, life tries to confuse us, whether on purpose, or accident." He made an arm movement to gesture to all the crates. "You will see puzzles like this in real life. People often don't want to tell you something directly. Mathematics itself is not straightforward like on most math tests. It comes cleverly disguised n real life situations such as this." He didn't give Ceru any good information though.
Aurtrox stopped and watched Ryker and Lyo work together to defeat the cybernetic arm challenge. The ticker moved down from four to three now. Impressive. They found out how to easily defeat the arm, they were able to accomplish this just before herja made it to them."The lesson here is obvious, cybernetics have certain strengths. You must discover the strength, and find clever ways to combat it. Though, a move clever person would have solved this puzzle without wrestling it at all." He was hinting at something obvious, but hidden in plain sight.
[Rolls are no longer needed to defeat the arm. You may defeat it automatically if you have two or more people working on it.]
When Netami's robot purposefully failed the wrestling task the number remained at three. A good clue.
"I'd measure something else if I were you you, Ceru." Aurtrox would give the boy's shoe a slight kick and he'd be pushed over to the vault crate. Lined up with the edge of it. He would notive the crate had sides that were exactly ten feet. Ten feet wide, ten feet deep, and ten feet tall. Otherwise Aurtrox would walk carefully, circling the students as they worked on the puzzles. Netami would enter a blank answer, it would come back as wrong with the standard mocking laughing track from inside. He would smile ever so slightly, as she was close to at least one of the characters for the 5 character code than she realized. Just one more button and she would have had the first fifth of the code done.
Crate: 1
This crate once opened, reveals a large square vault. It is very simple, one side has a door, and a simple password interface consisting of a keyboard and hardlight screen. There are five spaces signaling that the password is only five characters. The keyboard is a full standard computer keyboard with numbers, letters, etc. On the front face of the vault the bottom right corner, and the top left corners are painted red. Is nothing really nothing? Does space not exist?
Crate: 2
This crate once opened, reveals a table with two pieces of paper on it.
First piece of paper:"Mathematics, in the real world are not as simple as numbers on a whiteboard. It is about one's ability to process complex information. Mathematics enables one to quickly solve real world problems. Sometimes you have information reported to you that is difficult to interpret."
Second piece of paper: "Two mothers and two daughters sat down to eat eggs for breakfast. They ate exactly three eggs, each person had an egg. One mother is murdered, how many people are left?" Sets and subsets are an important, albeit boring, lesson in mathematics.
Crate: 3
This crate once opened, reveals another table, but this time a machine is strapped to it. A large cybernetic arm rests on the table. There is a single chair for a person to sit next to the cybernetic arm. The arm has it's elbow resting on the table in an arm wrestling position. There is a button next to it that says "Start." The machine has a single hardlight screen on the front that has a number on it: "5" [Roll a 1d100 on Gaia when you attempt to arm wrestle the machine. It has some give way, but only the mod can dictate a victory. One tenth of your post count will be added to the roll. Rounded down.]
A piece of paper next to the machine reads:"Cybernetics should never be underestimated. Even a simple replacement of a limb can sometimes be advantageous to the user in extreme situations. Imagine a swordsman who sacrifices their arm to land a lethal blow. Now imagine a man who has a cybernetic arm. They likely don't have fear and are far more likely to sacrifice their cybernetic arm for the lethal blow." Is the answer that obvious? Sometimes it is the opposite...
Crate: 4
This crate once opened, reveals an Atlassian droid head hooked up to an electrical box that powers it. The droid immediately sparks to like and asks the first person who opened the box a question: "Red is dead. Dead is red. How many feet, rounded down, would the distance be between dead and red? Subtract ten and there lies the answer you seek." The droid then powers off temporarily. Only to reactivate the next time someone stands before it. It repeats the same thing. Sometimes the answer lies where you first stood...
Crate: 5
This crate once opened, reveals another piece of paper that reads: "One mother dead, the remainder is said.
A dead droid's curse, rounds out the purse.
Another bite's the dust, how many are left to lust?" Sometimes simple addition and subtraction can come difficult...
