That morning...

Island Fever?

Shenzi lay in bed, staring blankly at the ceiling, small shadows under her eyes. After waking up the first time from the dreams, she couldn't get to sleep and stay there. They always came back and rudely awoke her, and it pissed her off all the more in that she could remember almost nothing about them. So, having been denied her sleep, she had instead lay in bed, staring at the ceiling.

Shenzi shifted her head a little, getting a look at the alarm clock. 7:12am. Joy.

Sighing to herself, she slowly sat up in bed, throwing the covers off and swinging her legs over the side. Holding a hand to her head, she shakily stood up, making her way to the bathroom, occasionally bumping into something that seemed to jump in front of her.

Entering the bathroom, she started splashing her face with cold water; she felt so hot, like her body was burning. Looking up into the mirror, she had dark circles under her eyes from the restless night, and her cheeks were flushed, her eyes looking slightly feverish. Letting out a breath, she put the back of her hand to her forehead; it was hot to the touch. A quiet whimper came from her throat, as she started feeling other places hurting. Mostly her feet and hands, for some reason, but her ears felt tight too.

Shaking her head, she sat on the toilet, shifting through her bathroom bag till she found her bottle of i-prin, and took three of the pills. While she waited for the pain killer to take affect, she changed into her regular clothes, a white opalescant, looseneck sweater, and torn up blue jeans with half of the left leg missing. Just to add to the mix, she added on a pair of old rainbow socks.

Wobbly opening the door, she carefully made her way down to the beach, hoping the sea air mixed with the pills would help with the fever, wishing she had a cigarette on hand.

Later that day...

Blending of Hell and Culture

As Shenzi shut the door on Richard, she leaned on it heavily, resting her forehead on it as she gasped out the air in her lungs. "Zatratit..." She mumbled, before a litany of oaths and curses followed, all mumbled under her breath as her eyes grew moist again. She slid down to the floor as a few tears trickled from her eyes, and she bit her lip, looking down at the remains of her socks; the toes were all shreds now, her toenails had seen to that.

Letting out a small sob, she drew her knees to her chest, holding her head in her hands, her fingers pulling her hair back from her face as more tears made way. Oh lord, it hurt so much! The only good thing was that the pain was subsiding, but it hadn't been over an hour since she had taken the pain killer pills, so they were probably kicking in. About damned time, too...

Shenzi sat there, her back to the door, for she didn't know how long. Eventually, though, the pain disappeared, leaving a thudding numbness in her feet and hands, not as noticable in her ears, but her a** was hurting like a mother.

After a moment, she moved forward onto her knees, crawling towards the phone that Sabin had provided her with so long ago. About damn time you... Fill your word... She thought, grabbing the receiver and dialing 0.

Ring...Ring...Ring...Ri-

"Hello, how can I help you?" A robotic voice sounded on the other end. ********. So she couldn't give Sabin an earful. She sighed; she could still get a pair of crutches at least, though there was no reason that she saw to be nice about it. "Uh, yeah, can I get a pair of crutches please? Cus I kinda can't walk thanks to the prissy Doctors." She said, glowering at the unoffending wall.

"Yes, ma'am. Room number 78, they'll be there in a short time." The voice said, no emotion coloring it's words. Probably a computer, Shenzi thought sourly, slamming the receiver down before crawling onto the bed, just lying on her stomach and shutting her eyes, blinking away the moistness that was threatening again...

With "Chubbs" MacKracken

Lunchtime Meeting

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi came into the cafeteria, the rubber soles on her crutches making soft thud sounds as she set them down. She had gotten hungry, and didn't have any food left in her duplex. And thus, she was forcing herself down her stairs and to the cafeteria. Her balance was slowly coming back, after forcing herself around her room without the crutches. But she still needed help down the stairs.

Damn it all... She thought darkly as she glowered at the trays. How the hell was she supposed to manage the crutches and a tray of food?

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs worked up an appetite waiting for Joliette to come back out, and hadn't eaten since her change. His stomach grumbled gratly and he thought he better eat before even his meds couldn't handle the hunger. Slipping on a pair of black cargo shorts and a green shirt he ripped the sleeves off, Chubbs headed for the cafeteria.

He started salivating and licking his lips as he drew closer and he smells got bigger, he could almost taste it now. Then another smell hit his nose, something familiar. When he got to the door, he noticed a girl with blue hair, a tail and crutches, someone he wasn't sure about.

Chubbs stood there pondering if he should enter or not, but noticing she was having trouble, Chubbs walked in and over near her, grabbing a tray.

" You okay?"

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi looked up as she heard someone's voice offering help, and for a very brief moment thought of Gaius and Brian, and their "gallant knightliness" from yesterday. But when she looked up, it was into the face of a bearish thing. Surpressing a small, surprised twitch, she frowned. His voice sounded familiar...

Shrugging to herself, she answered readily. "Yeah. Don't know how someone ever manages to get food with these damned crutches." She said, wrinkling her nose. Her tail swayed lightly behind her, out through a hole she had cut in the back of a pair of dark green shorts. She had a white and purple jersey on, cut off below the bust with one sleeve missing. "Have I-Have I met you before?" Shenzi asked, head tilted to the side.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs was glad the person hadn't flipped out, but there was a taste in the air about her, and he knew it was fear. Again the familiarity of the girl came up again and he squinted trying to remember.

" Umm don't take this in a bad way, it just helps"

Chubbs then bowed down to her height and sniffed a bit around her, gathering up her sent. He then looked pondering as he tried to remember, and then bingo! Chubbs grinned and stood back up. It was the girl from the party... umm... oh her name! Think, think, think.... aha Shenzi.

" Oh ya might have met me before, will this help ya?"

Chubbs turned around and proceeded to wag his tail back and forth across her mid section.

Shenzi Thompson
She started laughing at the tickling fur on her stomach. Now she remembered him. Grinning slightly, she bobbed awkwardly on the crutches, though now she didn't have any feathers to bounce. Not yet at least... That sour thought interuppted her, but she just grinned again.

"Chubbs?" She was pretty sure it was the pyramid-head from the party, though she hadn't seen his face then; that counted for the initial surprise and confusion.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs grinned and turned around, liking the laugh she produced. It was good to hear it again, he remembered it from the party. Grabbing up a tray, he placed it on the counter and smiled.

" The one and only yeah, though maybe I should have kept the mask on hey?"

He chuckled and grabbed up a plate and started grabbing a handful of steaks, a couple ribs and some apples. He prefered meat but apples were pretty good, he liked them and they sat alright in his stomach. Looking back to Shenzi, he got a good look at her changes and noticed her feet. That had to of hurt.

" Damn, now why did they have to got wreck a pretty thing like you. Bastards... Oh umm you need a hand?"

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi smiled prettily at the compliment, the grin open and friendly. "Mm, gryphon apparently." She said, hopping forward on the crutches to look at what food was there. "Erh, yeah, still havn't gotten used to the bloody feet." There was a sour note in her voice as she lifted one of the offending feet, wiggling her toes, claws, whatever.

"Mostly sucks 'cus now I can't wear that phoenix outfit. And it was so much fun, too." She said, wiping away a pretend tear, giving a fake sniffle, before grinning sheepishly. "That outfit really was nice, and I don't feel like punching holes through it to accomodate this dratted thing." She gave a pointed look to the naked tail swinging behind her.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs nibbled on a sandwich while looking over the food and nearly choked when she mentioned her serum. What the heck? a gryphon? Thinking about it for a second, it was just a lion and an eagle, and he was just three different animals.

" Awww I liked that outfit too, we'll just have to make you a new one then."

Chubbs gave a sad puppy pout, jokingly of course, but it did look rather odd on the large hairy beast. He looked down at her feet again and winced slightly, that would have sucked balls to go through.

" Well if ya ever need a lift, Chubbs taxi service is always around"

He gave Shenzi a mock salute and waited till she finished selecting her food.

" Oh, if you were wondering, grizzly bear, wolverine, tasmanian devil"

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi laughed again; he was cute, to say the least. Not appearance wise, but he made her laugh when she wanted to whack something with a crutch. "Think the island's got tailors that'd be willing?" She asked, raising a dark eyebrow as she grinned crookedly.

Awkwardly reaching forward, she grabbed her usual chicken sandwhich, adding on a small bowl of fruit to go with it. Putting her crutches under one arm, she balanced the tray in the free arm, hopping towards a table. "Well? You comin'?"

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs guessed she wanted her lift now, so he played along and gave his salute again before grabbing up his tray. He hoped not to hurt any sore spots so he tried his best.

" Chubbs taxi service at your.... er service"

With a grin, he tucked his arm under her backside and scooped her up, trying to keep her balanced as he walked her over to a table. Grinning he kicked out a chair and set her down on it side ways so her didn't crush her tail. He knew all to well about fresh tails.

Shenzi Thompson
Her eyes widened as her legs were swept from under her, and she was carried easily over to a table and set down in a chair. Shenzi was grinning as he set her down, grinning crookedly. "Well, then, quite a handy taxi." She laughed again, swinging her legs under the table and putting the crutches under the chair.

"So, we didn't talk much at the party." Shenzi said simply, taking a bite of her sandwhich. Not much of a conversation starter, but oh well.

Chubbs MacKraken
He grinned and sat down, looming over ther table a little to rest his arms on them. He really needed a bigger chair, he felt like he was sitting on a kids chair. He didn't bring cutlery with him, it was too hard to use, but apples didn't need them. He tossed one in his mouth whole and munched it up before swallowing.

" Yeah I know, sorry about that, I got a bit down and left. Hope ya had fun though"

Chubbs then picked up a steak and chewed it in half between teeth and claws. He hoped he wasn't putting Shenzi off her food.

" And ah... sorry bout the mask thing, no one had seen me in months and I didn't know how they'd handle it"

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs grinned and licked his fingers, or rather claws as they were, tidying them up. Then suddenly he sttod up and pulled a hero pose in front of Shenzi.

" Don't you know? I am Wolverbeardevil man! ... Faster than a dial up modem, more powerful than a drunks body odor, able to leap slightly medium sized bushes in one or two attempts!.... It's just one of my many powers, getting around in that thing"

Chubbs chuckled and sat back down, gnawing on his steak and chewing right through the t-bone. Bones didn't worrying him any more, it was like eating toffee, hard but ground down in the end.

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi let out an unlady-like snort, leaning over her tray as she started laughing helplessly. An enourmous baissista-man jumping around and shouting mock superman lines. Her shoulders shook slightly as she rubbed an eye, sitting back up. Still laughing under her breath, she gave him a small applause. "And what would the Wolverbeardevil man's special powers be, hm? Dancing baissista?" She asked, raising an eyebrow teasingly.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs chuckled and grinned watching Shenzi roll about in laughter. He could have enjoyed that all day. At her comment he raised a brow and had no idea of what she just said, so he tried to come up with something amusing.

" Oh me dance? bah, you know me, I can't dance. Oh that's it!, I'll profound the criminals with my lack of dancing skills. They be so confused, they'll give up."

" Oh even better idea, you can be my side kick, Griffon Pheonix Girl!... or Gryphix Girl, or how about Phy... Phyffon Gril?"

Chubbs thought about that for a minute and found that amusing, and grinned about it as he stood up.

" And your power can be, you can stand in front of the criminals, and go " Can't touch this""

Chubbs then turned to the side and jutted out his hip with his hand on it, pulling a sexy feminine pose, if it weren't for the fact he was how he looked.

" And they'll be like " Awww but wanna toooouch".. and you'll be " Nah ah... can't touch this" and they'll cry in the corner"

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi couldn't help it; she fell over the table laughing again, having at least managed to move her tray so she didn't get a faceful of chicken and white bread. She couldn't even get a word out; just watching him do the little sexy pose was too much, that she felt tears coming from her eyes.

"Lady Bright..." She finally managed to gasp out between bouts of laughter, grinning each time she looked at him. She would've stood up to do her own imitation of the sidekick pose, but she doubted she'd be able to keep herself up between bouts of laughter and her slowly returning sense of balance. Currently, she felt like she had the balance of a deeply intoxicated cat.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs laughed, he hadn't heard himself laugh so loud since long ago, and with his vocal change, he found it odd. He thought it sounded something like Jabba the Hutt laughing his fat a** off.He couldn't help himself and did it once more.

" Can't touch this!"

" Awwwww!"

Even wiggled his hips a little before sitting back down, trying to catch his breath and sat there grinning at how much she was laughing.

" God I'm such a dork aren't I?"

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs grinned as well, showing his rows of long pointy teeth. Not like he could help it or anything. Grabbing up an apple, he tossed it into the air and snapped his mouth over it, muching happily. When he could speak again he smiled.

" I like making ya laugh though, it's fun. Just wait, next weeks episode will have our evil nemisis in it...The Trout Avenger! with his fishy club of doooooom!"

Chubbs snickered a bit and tried to stop, but it was so amusing watching her laugh.

Shenzi Thompson
She started giggling again, varying between outright laughter and snorts as she tried to stop it from coming. "And who'll be our guest star, the mighty Beavhana, oh master of fishing poles?" She asked, grinning; she assumed he'd know who Chana was, though maybe not her difficulty with a fishingline.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs chuckled and shut his eyes thinking about that for a second, and then suddenly laughed again. Oh it was too much, he wouldn't be able to breathe soon if they kept it up.

" Oh man... I'm going to fall over if we keep this up"

He chuckled lightly, wiping a tear from his eye then relaxing in his chair. He gave a sigh and grinned as he tore his bba ribs into bite size portions.

Shenzi Thompson
Grinning still, she finished off her sandwhich, as there wasn't much to it to begin with, and stood up, grabbing her crutches and her now empty tray. "Well, good sir Wolverbeardevil Man, I fear your Phyffon Girl must now depart, sadly enough, lest she kick the bucket due to an untimely heart attack caused by shortage of breath." She said at length, sounding very officious before a titter escaped, and she started laughing again.

None too gently tossing her tray ontop of one of the racks nearby, she gave him a small wave. "Duplex 78, give me a ring some time." Shenzi smiled, hopping out the door with the crutches, striking an awkward "sexy Phyffon Girl" pose before letting the doors shut with another laugh.

Chubbs MacKraken
Chubbs chuckled and clapped, waving her goodbye and remembering the number. Shenzi was fun, and he hoped to see her soon, at least to make her laugh again.

Turkey Day Celebration

Awen Zyn
Awen strolled into the cafeteria and glanced around. The decorations, the food, oh they had mashed potatoes and was that corn pudding? Awen grinned as she walked up to the feast tables and just took in the scents.

Awen laughed lightly when she saw the live turkey marked with a 0. "Subject experiment zero? Amusing." She smirked and shook her head.

Awen furrowed her brow slightly. But why now? This looks like Thanksiving stuff, but that was montsh ago. Awen had thought she'd missed Thanksiving....

She shrugged and grabbed a plate, starting to pile on all the extras, and even started in on the deserts. It was her normal habit, grabbing everything in one plate and then having a seperate for the meat. She snagged another plate and started to search for the turkey. She hadn't noticed it on the other tables so she wandered nearer to the live turkey. But she found nothing. She frowned and found nothing but the poor thing on the table. She turned and went back to the others, maybe she'd missed the turkey plates?

But no. There was nothing. It was then that Awen's eyes shifted away from the tables of food and the turkey sitting apon the center one. She heard noises from around the cafeteria and saw other turkey with tags starting to roam out from under the regular tables. Two sauntered out from behind the counters that lead to the kitchen and Awen stared dumbfounded.

They have to hunt their own turkey. Awen smirked a little bit and shook her head and laughed. "God, do they never rest?"

Awen wasn't annoyed or offended at all, in her year of being on the island she'd started to share the sense of humour she found in the labs. Not all of them, mind, she was still morally against the entire island itself.... but she could appreciate the irony in some things, or even be amused with some of the antics and presentations the labs give. She couldn't help but chuckle at this new trick. Either laugh or cry right? But perhaps it was more than that... maybe some trickle of her, while trying to make the best of the bad situation, was starting to fully enjoy the island, the lab tech's humour? Naw couldn't be.

She shook her head and headed out of the cafeteria. Taking her plate with her she decided she'd rather not be around when the other islanders discovered the free range turkies around. She'd go eat her food by the lake probably....

As she pushed open the door to leave it occured to her. "Oh.... it's the US's Thanksgiving...."

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi shoved the cafeteria doors open with a kick, having propelled herself forwards with her crutches, to open it into Awen. Her eyes widening with surprise, she fell backwards in her haste to not knock the manta-girl over. She had been planning on coming over to the cafeteria, expecting something small due to what Gaius had said. Had decided to take up his offer. Had managed to wear something relatively decent for the holiday; a white wrap around shirt that went up and over her shoulders, dark blue and light blue striped arm socks, and a plain black skirt with a blue beaded fringe, her tail poking out from underneath. She had her hair back in a dark blue bandana, having skipped her usual hat.

Sitting up hurriedly, brushing herself off, she scooted towards Awen, an apologetic and sheepish look on her face. "Awen, I'm really sorry about that..." She said, her accent leaking a little into her words. It was then, though, that she noticed the turkey. Or rather, turkies. All over the dining hall. Looking around, she saw some in the street as well, and a small few scattered in the trees. They all had little number tags around their necks, which caused her to frown. "Ummm... What's with the turkies?"

Awen Zyn
Awen barely had time to narrowly avoid the swinging door and keep everything on her plate. Her eyes widened slightly as she saw Shenzi on the ground and slowly stranding up. "Oh, no problem hun, are you okay? You're the one that fell over."

Noting the changed Awen tried to muse with what the girl was turning into. She'd just seen the girl the other day so the changes must have happened really recently. But...that's life on the island and Awen was over being surprised by it.

"It's Turkey Day, at least for Americans..... Thanksgiving dinner... I guess the catch is you have to catch your own turky!" Awen laugh a bit, showing a genuine amusement to teh subject before clearing her throat and glancing back at the tables. "Everything else is all laid out though... potateos corn on the cob cranberries... old and traditional fixings. But if you will excuse me..."

Awen motioned with her plate and then slowly started out the door. "Happy hunting Shenz!"

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi nodded, standing up slowly while keeping the door open. "Mrh, I know it's turkey day, but, real turkies? Live ones?" As Awen bid her farewell, she gave her a pretty smile and a friendly wave. "Alright, see ya later Awen."

With that, she entered the cafeteria, hastily lifting her legs over a turkey that refused to move out of her way, and pushing herself past it. "Goddammed buzzards..." She mumbled under her breath, her eyes again catching the plastic glint of the number tags tied around their scrawny necks. 34. She looked towards the tables of food, and there were other numbers there; in fact, she didn't see any above 80, from those inside the cafeteria.

Shaking her head at the oddity, she grabbed a plate, carefully balancing it on her shoulder with her hand while filling it with food, a little bit of everything. There wasn't really anything that appealed too much to her; all the meat was still gobbling. Sighing in irritation, she sat down at a table, taking a bite of bread and dipping it into the pudding as she stared blankly at the table.

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi hadn't looked up as everyone entered, though when things started flying in the air, she had grabbed her plate, and slid underneath the table, finishing her food quickly, before stopping and watching everyone. What the ******** are they doing....? She thought to herself, spotting some people she recognized; Rachel, Miller, Richard, and she saw one flash of Aislinn at one point. Deciding to stay in the safety of her table, she was content with watching for the moment.

Rachel Collison
Rachel squeaked as potatoes were smeared on her face, her stomach churning slightly at having them on her face. She quickly wipped them off. "I said I was sorry..." she said quietly, sticking her tounge out at him.

She grabbed a chocolate cream pie and thowing it over the table. It came to land on the blue-haired girl she had met the other day. She really wasn't doing well about hitting people she didn't want to hit...

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi scrambled out from under the table as a pie landed on her with a wet squelching sound, some of the cream spraying onto her hair. Sticking her tongue out, she wiped her face off, looking for where it came from. "********..." She couldn't tell, though there didn't seem to be too many people there anymore. Reaching up, her hand felt over the table blindly, before picking up a paper plate of corn and pudding, and throwing it in a random direction. Into the back of Richard's head. s**t.

Miller Milano
Miller returned the face to Rachell, "Don't worry about it!" he said as he scooped up a mix of mashed potatoes and gravy from the floor before blindly tossing it up and over the table, and geting a bit of Nat's shoulder in the process. "Sorry about that!"

Gaius Harper
Another chunk of cornbread was dug out of the tray beside Gaius. Since no one was throwing at him, he took his time. Eyes narrowed on the fuzzy guy. He looked like an easy target for his sweet weapon.

"Bombs away!"

Lucas Wickham
Before he could even stand he was struck with pie by the lizard-looking girl trying to hide behind the table, and then once again he was hit by the large-necked guy, this time with some cornbread.

He laughed, pulled himself to his feet and picked up the same piece of cornbread that was thrown at him. At once he sent it flying and it came down nicely on top of Richard.
Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi slid herself the rest of the way from under the table, and made a quick scramble on her knees to the food table. Grabbing whatever came to hand, a handful of torn up bread, she threw it, and again it hit Richard. Smacking her hand to her face, she shouted a brief apology to him. "Sorry!"

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumigave another startled squeak as potatoes hit her shoulder, glancing to miller almost betrayed before the word 'sorry' reached her ears. She shook her head to let him know it was fine, before scouping up a blob of mess where several foods had joined to one, chucking it blindly over the side only to hit that big red guy she's completely been avoiding even noticing. Not that she hadn'tnoticed him.. Just... She would have preffered not to let it be known she was there. And as such, as she watche dit smack into him, she eeped and shrunk back behind their fort.

Rachel Collison
Rachel reached backwards, and grabbed a handful of the jello, flinging it into the air...into the first person she'd spoken to on the island. She cringed. "Sorry Lucas!" she called, before ducking behind the table again.

Richard Harrison
Someone had appearently painted a huge target on Richard's head. The moment he popped his head up he was hit. "What is this? Age discrimination?"

Still he had gotten some good shots in at the only person who he person he was truly targeting. Declaring a moral victory, he beat a hastily retreat for the exit.

Lucas Wickham
The jello from Rachel hit him right in the face. "Rachel? That you?" He laughed. As he wiped the dessert from his face, not watching where he was going, he once again slipped on the same pool of ice cream.

Miller Milano
Miller turnned to both Nat and Rachell giveing a thumbs up before diveing around the table to grab a few pies and slide them back to the girls. He also managed to get his hands on a few bottles off long forgotten salad dressing and brought them over as well, "New toys?"

He took the ranch and poped the top squeezeing some out in to his laddle before test fireing it over the table. "It works!"

Gaius Harper
Getting his ego up, Gaius grinned broadly and hopped up on one of the chairs, wobbling a bit as his feet threatened to give out, but a bit of arm and wing waving regained his balance and he laughed loudly.

"HA! Let's see any of you try to take on Gaius, Lord and Master of the Cafeteria and all things food-like!" As he gloated, he raised a fist of cornbread high... and then yelped as the chair wobbled beneath him and he dropped the cornbread.

Rachel Collison
"Yeah, it's me," she called to Lucas, from behind the table, eyeing the dressing the boy had brought over. She grabbed a bottle, intending to squeeze it over the table, but ending up squeezing it early, and hitting him instead. She blushed and hid the bottle behind her back, hoping he hadn't seen it was her.

Lucas Wickham
"Having fun?" He called back to Rachel, then laughed.

Grabbing an entire bowl of cranberry sauce, he pulled his arm back, then sent the sauce flying toward the people hiding behind the table. "Cranberry death from above!" He watched with a grin on his face as it rained down on top of Miller.

Zachary Bloodstone
Zach stabbed the ice cream scoop into the still mostly-full vat of ice cream and stepped back. Thanks to the mess that had been made of the cafeteria, his foot landed in jello and slid. Without much of a sense of balance to begin with, he fell in a heap on the floor before he could get near anything to throw. He shielded himself with his pitifully small wings while he remained down there for a little while.

Shenzi Thompson
Making a quick duck, she grabbed one of the currently free ladels and a bowl of the corn pudding. Dipping the ladel in, she sent the pudding flying, and it smacked into the side of a furry man's face, no one she knew, so she didn't feel much remorse, more a satisfied grin.

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi glanced down at the new supply of food, nodding and grabbing up one of the bottles as Rachel did, only to watch her hit miller with it. Oh my, Natsumi choked back a laugh, turning to try and squirt the bottle over the table. Which failed, as Rachels had, giving the poor girl a taste of her own medicine. Natsumis mouth dropped as the dressing hit, squeaking out a "Sorry!"

Miller Milano
Miller looked at Rachell again blinking, "Medic? Or napkin perhapse?" he shrugged, not like he wasn't already a mess. Instead he grabbed two bottles one ranch one italian and stood up spoting Gaius on the chair. "HEY CHAIR BOY! RANCH OR ITALIAN?" And with that he fired both right at the foolish horse man.

Shenzi Thompson
Flinging another ladel full of pudding, it smacked into the wall with a wet sounding whumph sound, missing one of the others by a few inches.

Lucas Wickham
Ducking behind a chair, the closest bit of cover nearby, he made sure to watch where he was going. He wasn't going to humiliate himself further by slipping on the same pool of ice cream for a third time. Thankfully he had on a shirt. He didn't enjoy the idea of having to clean the sticky dessert from the fur on his back. It was still cold and wet.

Spotting the girl with the blue hair out of the corner of his eye, Lucas shot a serving spoon full of green bean casserole at her. His tail wagged.

Rachel Collison
"Yeah...I guess.." Rachel responded to Lucas, her tone a bit wary, but amused. She was still working on letting herself cut loose and just enjoy this.

She brought out the ceasar dressing bottle from behind her back and was careful to aim it over the table this time, before squeezing it. It once again hit Shenzi, and Rachel couldn't help chuckling, before taking cover once more.

Gaius Harper
Direct hit! Gaius squawked as he was doused in salad dressings and lost his balance. Flailing his arms, Gaius tumbled back to land on his tail with a whumpf and a groan. Wincing, he rolled over back onto his knees. "Gah, ow... Stupid feet..."

He pulled himself up by one of the tables, noticing the canine boy nearby. And a bowl of sour cream just happened to be sitting near his hand. Well gee!

"Hey! Head's up!" he shouted as he flung a scoop of the stuff in his direction.

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi scrabbled agaisnt the table as she was pelted with green bean casserole and wet, cold salad dressing. She could feel the dressing running down the back of her shirt; her clothes were most definately ruined now. Digging her ladel into the pudding bowl, she pulled out a healthy portion, and flung it into the air; it knocked into the back of someone's head, another person she didn't know, someone that looked red and... Scaley? Wings? Frowning to herself, she ducked down, a grin quickly replacing the frown.

Lucas Wickham
At the call of "head's up", Lucas turned and got a face full of sour cream. Licking some of it off with his tongue, he scraped the rest off, then wiped his hands off on his pants. They were already covered in food anyway.

This time he had every intention of smacking the horse man with some sweet potato with marshmallows, but instead he he Zach. He finally got the dragon. And he wasn't even trying to that time.

Miller Milano
Miller realized two problems, one he had yet to get something to eat, and two he was truely a mess right now. He looked to both girls with a shrug, "I'm out for now, if you two ever want to team up again and have another food fight just gimi a call at room 77 I guess?"

He stood up waveing good bye, "FAREWELL!" and then gave a yelp running out before the cross fire made anything worse.

Rachel Collison
Rachel got an evil smirk on her face, finally starting to get into the game. She grabbed the dressing bottle once more, before standing up behind the table and calling "Hey Lucas!" before spraying it directly at him, grinning all the while.

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi ladled another scoop of pudding into the air, grinning while she watched it sail over their heads, arching down, down, down... Plop. Into the back of one of the still present turkies, though she couldn't get a good look at the number tag around it's neck. But the bird set up a clatter, making a show of spreading it's tail feathers and pecking the nearby people.

Zachary Bloodstone
Zach could hardly get up off the floor after that fall. Dizzy and now even a little sick from the smell of vegetarian food, he had to scoop some unidentifiable, colorful mass of food from the floor nearby him and toss it, striking Gaius in the face.

He didn't have time to relish his success. Something slimy got him on the back of his bare head and his tail lashed in surprise. When he'd pulled himself into a kneeling position it was followed by some orange glop on his arm, an unsightly addition to the soup and other things he'd been littered with.

Gaius Harper
Gaius snickered, lobbing a second glob of white after the first. "Have some second helpings!" Sure, wasn't exactly nice, but all was fair in war!

He didn't get to enjoy it long, though, as a mass of food, undinstinguishable as it'd all been mixed together on the floor by now, struck him straight in the face. Gaius stumbled back a couple steps, sputtering and trying to whipe the stuff off. "Augh! Peh!"

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi gave a wave to Miller as he decided it was time to flee, leaving just her and some random girl she didn't know in the least. A skinny one at that. How observant.

She choked back another laugh as the frail looking girl jumped up to attack. Natsumi still was still hesitant to get into it, but in the urge to 'fit in' at the moment, she was lead to get another scoup of pie, giving another blind chuck over their fort. And ofcourse, planting Zach again. Crap! The one person she really didn't want to hit. Maybe she should start aiming, she thought, as she hid again.

Lucas Wickham
Lucas saw the second helping coming from Gaius and raised an arm to block the sour cream from getting him in the face again. Some did, however, fly past his arm and land in his hair. "Bleh!"

Wiping off the sour cream, then collecting more that had fallen to the floor, he tried to lob it back at Gaius, but came up short and watched it plop onto the floor a foot away. "Nuts." He snapped his fingers.

Rachel Collison
Rachel took a breather behind the table after hitting Lucas. ((/lame))

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi, ignoring the now flustered turkey in the corner, flung another thing of pudding over the table, peeking quickly to see where it landed. She grinned broadly as she saw it splatter over Gaius's back, laughing. "Too slow, wing-man!"

Lucas Wickham
He was about to throw one more time toward Gaius, but the horse-man had disappeared behind a table. Since he couldn't get his main target he'd just have to find someone else.

That's when he got hit with some salad dressing. "Nice, Rachel. Take this!" Turning his attentions back on the people hiding behind the table, he grabbed some of the candied yams and started tossing them in that direction. His aim was off, however, and instead of hitting Rachel, it came down on Natsumi.

Gaius Harper
Gaius lifted his spoon to throw another glob of sourcream out into the fray, but before he could, a lump of cholote, gooey pudding struck Gaius right between the wings. He yelped at the sudden cold and slimey sensation, now mixing with all the other goo dripping from him. He was looking more and more like a swamp person, his hair sticking to his neck and face in thick clumps, bits of salad dressing running down his front, and his tail full of who knows what. He was a veritable Thanksgiving dinner himself!

"Gya-a-a-aah!" He shook himself and turned to glare at Shenzi, nostrils flaring as he snorted. "Traitor!"

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi grabbed a last scoupful of pie, good thing about her hands is that she was able to throw more... The bad part, the food went alot faster.

As she went up with her next peice to chuck, she happend to jump up into the fire of lucus, getting smacked dead int he face with candied yams. Giving a yelp, she chucked the pie in a return fire, and falling back to try and whipe the yam from her eyes.

Rachel Collison
Rachel laughed and dived behind the table as Lucas threw the yams, only to watch Natsumi get hit with them. Giving the girl a sympathetic glance, she went in search of more ammunition, her dressing bottle being almost empty. She happened upon a bowl of sprinkles for the ice cream and picked them, intending on chucking them at the people on the other side of the table. In her haste, however, she slipped and sent the bowl's contents spilling over Natsumi.

Lucas Wickham
"Pie!" he cried out right after that food item smacked against his chest. Chuckling, he picked up the pie, molded it into a ball, and sent it flying back toward Natsumi and Rachel. However, it splattered against their table-turned-shield.

Natsumi Tanaka
Whoops. Natsumi had been mid reach for more food when sprinkles went showering over her, mixing in her hair and sticking to the yam-gel that remained on her face. She blinked, glancing up at Rachel, then giving a soft warm-hearted giggle. It hadn't been on purpous, judging by the other girl's expression, so what more could she do than laugh?

That and scoup up another blob of unreconizable slop(now complete with sprinkles) and chucking it towards lucus again. he seemed to be the target of the hour, afterall.

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi ducked a bit of flying something, she wasn't sure what. She managed to tug over her crutches from the table she had vacated previously, and getting them under her arms, pushed herself up to her feet. Hurriedly pushing herself towards the door, she gave the room another look, a crooked grin on her face as she wiped off more food from her face, before swinging out the door. "Buh-bye!"

The Newbies No Longer

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi swung into the cafeteria, more sure on her feet then a few days previous. She only had one crutch wtih her this time, mostly just to keep from tipping over now. She quickly approached the food line, grabbing a tray and getting her usual chicken sandwhich, before sitting down at the nearest table. She may be more capable of balancing, but it still took thought to remember to stand with her knees slightly forward, so as not to fall on her a**.

Miller Milano
Miller sat quietly at his own table eating his own sandwich when Shenzi wandered in. Three things occured to him then and there. The first was he hadn't seen Shenzi since meeting Nita, at least not spoken to her since he saw her during the food fight. The second was she had changed and that it was more apparent to him when not flinging food.

The worst realization though was that lingering worried tone in Kikue's voice mentioning he hadn't changed yet. Was it okay to be human still?

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi munched on her sandwhich while looking around the large room, when her eyes fell on a certain familiar face... Smiling sardonically, she pushed herself up from the table, calling out to him from across the cafeteria. "Hey Brownie, about time you showed you face." She said, laughing while pulling her hat off and sticking it into her back pocket. She stood up, grabbing her tray and crutch, and headed towards him, the grin still on her face.

Miller Milano
Miller raised an eyebrow at the new nickname however, "I don't recall my name being Brownie before... guess that would make you the blueberry still then no?" He scooted over in his seat making room for the girl, of all the people now to see changed she was the strangest, because he actually remembered what she looked like before it. It was a bit disturbing in a new way like that.

Shenzi Thompson
Chortling softly, she slid her tray onto the table, sitting in the chair next to him, grinning lightly still. "Mm-hmm. So I've been called." She laughed softly, before eyeing him critically. "You havn't changed yet? Kinda surpising, you lucky nepravý." She poked him in the side, much lighter then she would have normally; her nails were sharp, and she really didn't want to scratch him. Her tail was hanging over the side of the chair, the end twitching now and then.

Miller Milano
Miller sighed, "No I haven't some people mock me for it, other people envy me, and the one girl seems to think it's a horribly bad thing but wasn't willing to tell me what was so bad about it." He looked over noticing the tail as it flopped about, "Thats new..."

Shenzi Thompson
She raised an eyebrow, looking over her shoulder at her tail. "Yeah, well, if you hadn't noticed, there's alot of new stuff." Shenzi said, drumming her fingers on the table top, the sharp nails clicking. "The feet hurt like hell, though I can walk pretty well now. Can't dance worth s**t, though, so I'm still working on that."

Miller Milano
Miller looked to the nails, the feet, and tail again. "Some kinda bird thing? This mean your gona grow a beak?" He took another bite of his sandwich giving her a one over again noticing the ears. "You look like pale skinned night elf with ears like that."

The Child and the Woman

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi put her towel over her shoulder as she made her way down to the beach from her duplex. She hadn't been there since she had changed, but she didn't feel like going farther to get to the lake. She had left her crutches at the duplex, so was walking somewhat awkwardly across the sand in a multicolored bikini and board-shorts. She had cut a small hole in the back for her tail, mumbling curses the whole time.

Spreading her towel on the sand, she sat down, before moving to lie on her back, and letting her eyes shut halfway, so the sun wasn't so blinding.

Cody Archer
It's been a long time since Cody had talked with anyone. The halloween party was a bust because he somehow managed to fall asleep and only wake up the next day. It took him forever to stop getting mad at himself

But today was a nice day and he was really looking foward to a swim. Who knows, maybe he would get brave enough to go into the high sea and meet the dolphins

When he arrived there he noticed someone was alredy on the beach. Not anyone he knew as far as he could tell but apperently that lady had already gone through a change
Cody couldn't tell what she was turning into, so his curiosity guided his feet closer and closer to her without him noticing

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi looked to the side as she saw movement, frowning slightly. A kid...? They even brought a damned kid here? She thought as she sat up, replacing the frown with a pretty smile. "Lusk(Hullo)." Shenzi drew her knees up to her chest, her hands around her ankles, as she watched the kid. He had a dolphin tail out the back, but he didn't seem to have any other changes, not that she could see at least.

"What's your name?" She asked, smiling again as she briefly went over past conversations. No one's mentioned a kid before...

Cody Archer
"Hun?"

Cody didn't understood the first thing she said. For a second he thought she couldn't speak english, until she asked for his name

"I'm Cody. Who're you? And what animal are they turnng you to? You've been long here?"

Shenzi Thompson
She laughed at his confusin, grinning sheepishly. "Sorry. That means hello in Czech; I'm half Czech."

Shenzi blinked slightly at his forwardness, but then grinned crookedly. Makes me think of a certain blueberry I know... She thought to herself, before shrugging in answer to his question. "I'm Shenzi Thompson, and the "Dear Doctors" are turning me into a gryphon, I think. I got here a few days before halloween."

Cody Archer
"Oh"

"Whoa, really? That's really cool. Way more awsome than a dolphin!"

Cody couldn't help to be amazed. Turning people into animals was one thing, but mythical animals? That was simply amazing
He already knew the existance of a dragon person, but this was the first time he was meeting a real myth creature. It was so coooool!

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi raised an eyebrow in response to the kid's reaction. I wouldn't put it that way... "Well, a dolphin at least, you know what to expect. And I think that was probably less painful then what I'll be getting..." She said, nodding her head towards his tail.

"When did you get here?" She asked, leaning back on the towel, propping herself up on her elbows as she looked at him; he couldn't be older then 12, 13 tops.

Cody Archer
"Growing the tail was pretty painful. I vomited the first time. Don't know what happened in the second though, they put me to sleep"

Cody sat on the sand close to her. It was a rather pleasent feeling against his dolphin skin as the tail 'dug' a hole in the unsteady surface
Actually he kept him moving around and digging it further without realising

"In June. I don't know the day it is now though, I don't count the days"

Shenzi Thompson
"December." She said shortly, giving him a sympathetic look. Six months here already, though, granted, others had been here more then a year. But still... This was a kid, who should rightly be with his parents right now.

Her own tail was fairly still on the towel, the end of it twitching now and then in the warm sun. "So do you like swimming Cody? Though that's kind've a stupid question..." Shenzi grinned sheepishly, laughing.

Cody Archer
"What? December already!?"

Cody could hardly believe it was that time of the year already. If he hadn't been told he'd probably miss christmas. And that was something he wouldn't be able to forgive himself, ever

"I need to start writing the letter"

But the question distracted him from his current flow of thoughts

"Hm? Oh, yeah. I really like swimming. I'm way faster than before"

Cody Archer
"It's something I do every year. Otherwise my parents would just give me stupid things as socks for christmas"

The mentioning of his parents casted a shadow over his mood, specially mentioning something as dear as christmas
It would be the first time he'd celebrate it without them. A family holiday with his family. That alone was enough to bring tears to his eyes, even after 6 months of trying to overcome the loss

But he accepted Shezi's invitation without a word. He just took her hand and nodded, trying to rub the tears away from his face

Shenzi Thompson
She saw his eyes get watery, and she immediately regretted having said anything. Kneeling down, she gave him a hug, smiling comfortingly and producing a hankerchief from somewhere. "Here... I miss my parents too. I'm half american, and half Czech, and my foreign side is the one that believes in family ties, so it's been kinda hard for me too. My American blood doesn't care, but my Czech blood wants them back."

Shaking her head, she gave him another smile, before standing up and gently pulling him towards the water. "Here, lets have fun, see if we can't make you forget for an hour at least."

Cody Archer
For a split second Cody was a bit confused by that reaction. He didn't know if he should repel or just hug back
In the end he just let himself fall in that warm feeling and burried his face in her shoulder for a moment, taking the hankerchief to push those stubborn tears away. He just hated feeling loely all the time

"Thanks...." He returned the hankerchief with half a smile on his face, right before he ran like mad towards the water

"Last one in is a rotten egg!!"

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi laughed, tossing the little square of fabric carelessly onto the towel, before running after him. She had to think when she moved, to keep her knees bent more when she ran, so she didn't fall over, but she made it to the water a few seconds after him, letting herself fall into the sand and the warm tropical waves. "I'd better not be an egg; a berry's more like it!" She said, laughing still.

Cody Archer
Cody was already underwater, swimming around her. But he could hear her distorced voice and emerged his head

"Berry!?"

Shenzi Thompson
She giggled, grinning as she stood in the water, shaking her hair out. Damp strands stuck to her forehead and neck, but she was laughing. "Berry! I'm a blueberry!" Shenzi said, tugging on her loose braids, the blue vivid against the teal-green colors water.

Cody Archer
"Why?"

Cody wasn't really getting it. Why was she talking about blueberries?

Shenzi Thompson
She grinned again, ducking under the water for a moment before resurfacing. "Mm, cus I've got blue hair. So that's why I'm a blueberry." Flicking her hair back from her face, she kicked her legs, going into the deeper water.

Cody Archer
"Ah! Now I get it"

Cody submerged again and only with a couple of tail kicks he got way further that Shenzi

"Hey! Isn't Shenzi the name of that hiena in Lion King?"

Cody Archer
"That makes sense"

Cody pondered what would be the reasons behind the other islanders he knew

"Oh? Yeah, Aubrey said it would help cure my MS. Don't know why exactly though"

Shenzi Thompson
"MS?" She asked, frowning as she tread water. "What's MS?"

Ignoring another name she didn't immediately recognize, she thought about it. "Well, they're changing your body, so I guess it makes sense that whatever's wrong with it would fix itself."

Cody Archer
"A brain disease that screw up how your body works. But I'm getting better now. My last attacks aren't so strong anymore"

The last one happened while he was in his room organzing his stuff. It was the numbness again, but instead of making completely impossible to hold the book, Cody could still feel the tips of his fingers

He was quite happy for this accomplishment. He finally could stop worrying so much on the attacks and focus on the things he really wanted to do. It was a weight being lift from his shoulders, a wave of relief in this damn island

Shenzi Thompson
She winced sympathetically; she didn't really have any diseases, though she was getting over her cigarette addiction fairly well. "I'm sorry. But I'm glad it's getting better, at least." Shenzi said, grinning broadly as she rolled over to float on her back.

Cody Archer
Cody grinned and submerged again. But instead of coming up right away he stood there one... two... three minutes..... and still no sign of him!

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi was still grinning as he went under, though it slowly disappeared as she floated there for a few minutes, with no sign of Cody resurfacing. "Cody?" She said to the empty air, though she knew better then to think he'd hear her under water.

Cody Archer
The wait lasted a couple of more minutes, until Cody finally resurfaced some distance away, gasping for breath

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi was still looking around when she heard a splash, and, looking over her shoulder, saw Cody floating there and inhaling air like a beached fish. Grinning slightly, pushing away the small feeling of unease that had been growing, she laughed. "Got quite abit of lungs on you, don't you?"

Cody Archer
"My biggest record was 7 minutes. But in the books say dolphins can stay underwater much longer. That's why I'm practicing"

Cody grinned and swam back towards her
Actually his dream was go and meet the wild dolphins, but he was still afraid to face the open sea on his own. He had some bad experiences in the river back at home, the worst one being dragged by the current when he was dared to cross a rope bridge and fell in. And the sea was much larger than a river

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi started looking thoughtful as Cody spoke. "Hm... I wonder what I'll be able to do, besides fly. Books always say different things about gryphons... Only think I've noticed is my eye sight is better." She grinned slightly; that really wasn't much compared to breathing underwater.

Cody Archer
"Fly? That would be so neat. Maybe you could go around and fly with Cassidy and stuff. She's a big winged snake, green with big parrot wings for arms"

Maybe then she could give Cody a ride. That would be really awsome

Shenzi Thompson
She laughed softly, grinning still. "Dunno who Cassidy is, but sounds like she's got quite a mix on her hands... Or rather, scales I guess, since she's a snake." She dropped under the water with a small splash, and swam around for a little bit before coming back up, shaking her head quickly and sending water droplets spraying.

Cody Archer
"I guess so"

Cody got splashed as Shenzi shook the water our of her hair. Considering it a tip to play, he just turned around and used his tail to send a big splash towrards her, making then a quick retreat

"Can't catch me!"

Shenzi Thompson
She laughed again, diving under the water to swim after him, grinning from the tail slap of a splash.

They chased and swam around for a little while longer, before Shenzi clambered clumsily out of the water, shaking herself off before grabbing her towel, the warm sand sticking to her feet as she wrapped the fabric around her torso, grinning over her shoulder at Cody.

Cody Archer
Cody was feeling really happy right now. It's been ages since he played with someone

"Going already?"

Shenzi Thompson
She nodded reluctantly; the kid was nice, and she had had fun, but she was starting to feel a pang of withdrawel, and she'd rather he not see. Besides, she wanted to go take a shower. "Yeah. But it was fun playing with you, Cody." Shenzi said, smiling cheerfully as she squatted down to pick up her stuff. Standing up again, she gave him a soldierly salute, before laughing. "See you again?"

Cody Archer
"Yeah. I'm in the room 51. Or by the lake or here in the beach"

Shenzi Thompson
"Duplex 78. I kinda wander, so just give my room a call if you want to hang out again." She smiled, giving him a quick hug before hopping across the hot sand, giving him one last wave over her shoulder.

Cody Archer
Cody hugged her back and waved as she left, proceeding back to the water, feeling quite cheerful for making a new friend

December 3rd, 2006
Later that day

Pangs of Withdrawel

(Warning: I have never expirienced withdrawel, and have never smoked, so not all of this may be entirely accurate.))

Shenzi labored slowly up the steps, her feet and weird toenails covered in sand. Cody was certainly fun to goof around with, but then, he also probably hadn't hit puberty yet...

Sighing to herself, she rubbed her towel in her hair again, shoving open her door as she felt the pangs again that had made her say good bye to the dolphin boy. She hadn't had a cigarette in ages, and, granted, she wasn't a "pack a day" smoker, but she still had one fairly often. She hadn't been doing too bad in the past month, but the blueberry had also had a light now and then, from various islanders.

Coughing into her hand, she stumbled into her apartment, her feet giving out under her. They were getting their strength back, and she could walk without the crutches, but there was still a limit to how long she could stand unaided, and she'd been swimming around with Cody for at least an hour, if not more.

Pushing herself onto the bed, Shenzi dug around in her bedside drawer for something, anything, to put on her lips; she knew she didn't have any cigarettes, but maybe just emulating one might help the craving... She found some little dum-dum lollipops, and hurriedly popped one into her mouth, rolling the stick on her lips. Drawing her knees up to her chest, the damp bikini top leaving moisture on her skin, she buried her head between her knees, her shoulders jerking in slow shivers.

After a moment, the teenage singer flopped backwards on her bed, her hand searching across the bedside table for the controller to her stereo, her wandering hands knocking things off the table; some necklaces, an empty soda can, a few rings. Eventually, her questing fingers felt the hard plastic, and flipped on the music to what was playing last; Nelly Furtado, with her new song, Maneater.

-ant all, of her love
She's a maneater
make you buy cars
make you cut cards
ma-

And her thumb shut it off. She didn't want to listen about gold diggers right now. Groaning, she massaged her head with her index fingers, as she was starting to feel a light pounding there, though that could possibly be attributed to the changes, though it had been almost a month since...
