Shenzi slowly approached the stairs going up to duplex number 70, fidgeting slightly. She hadn't seen Richard in awhile, and she wanted to see how he was doing. He had said he was in apartment 70, so she decided to go check it out.
She had on a short, black and red plaid skirt with a white tank top on, more suitable for the tropical weather then her jeans. Shrugging to herself, she ascended the stairs, her grip firmly on the railing to keep from falling backwards as her tail swayed from under the skirt.
Once she got to the door, Shenzi slowly lifted a fist, tapping her knuckles on the hard wood as she tucked a stray strand of hair behind a pointed, feathered ear.

By his own account, Richard had not been doing well at all. He had been keeping to himself and not venturing far from his duplex. The unfinished newsletter sat on his desk, taunting him. Everytime he tryed to write it he heard Ginvera's manic laughter echo through his head and could feel nothing but anger.
He had been sitting on his bed, almost growling at it when He heard the knock. Who the hell could that be who come to his duplex? He went over and opened the door a crack, his large eyes peering out of the dim duplex.
He blinked at the sunlight. "Shenzi?"

Shenzi frowned as the duplex door opened a crack, Richard's blue eye looking through the space. His eyes looked different... Shaking her head, she gave him a friendly smile, nodding slightly. "Good to know you havn't forgotten me, Přední.(Grandfather.)" She added in the title on a whim, because she definately respected Richard. And so far, he seemed like what her friends had described their parents as, sweet, nice, someone who'll help you through trouble.
But the teenager frowned again as she got a better look at him. "Are you alright?" She asked, a slight note of concern creeping into her voice.

Pfedni? What was that? His brows knitted together for a moment as he attempted to figure out what Shenzi had said. He decided it didn't matter, as he remembered that Shenzi peppered her english with other words occiasionally.
"I'm fine Shenzi." It was said a little too quickly. "However if you could give me a moment, I'm not exactly presentable for recieving company. Be right back." The door shuts.
Through the door Shenzi can here the scraping of dresser drawers being opened and shut as he rummaged through them. He had taken to not wearing shirts when he was alone, as it took quite a bit of effort to thread all his limbs through them.

Shenzi raised an eyebrow as the door was shut in her face, the words on her lips falling into empty air as she heard the scrape of drawers as he apparently put a shirt on. Knocking her knuckles on the wood again, she laughed loud enough for him to hear it through the door.
"Do you usually greet guests without a shirt on?" She asked through the door, teasingly, as she scuffed a foot on the floor, her arms behind her back.

Richard was tempted to say something snarky about the difficultly of shirts when you have six limbs but was really too busy binding his chest at that particular moment. Finishing the job, he struggled into a dark blue shirt and buttoned it up. The binding wasn't as tight as he would have liked, but he thought it was passable.
Taking a breath, Richard opened the door, revealing both his changed face and the tail the lashed nervously behind him. He wasn't really used to vistors and wasn't quite sure what to say. "Hey, Shenzi. Come on in?"
Beyond him, notebooks where strewn acrose the room, some open some closed. On the desk was something half written and on either side of there were deep claw marks in the wood. All the mirrors where covered with either a towel or a sheet of some type.

Shenzi walked through the open door, sparing another grin for his rumpled look, but she stopped in the door frame, frowning at his face. Reaching a hand up, her fingers brushed his cheek lightly as she got a good look at his whole face. "You changed..." She said, simply enough, giving him a sympathetic look as she stood in the door way.
After a moment, her eyes flicked around the room, taking in the note books and papers strewn about, towels tossed over seemingly random objects, the clawmarks in the desk... I should've been there.... The thought came unbidden. He had been with her when she changed, she should've tried to help him out with his. Mentally kicking herself, she shook her head, walking into the room and sitting carefully on the bed, her feet over the edge since she still hadn't figured out how to sit cross legged.

Richard flinched a bit as Shenzi's hand brushed his whiskers enroute to his face. For a moment his now inhuman eyes locked with her's. They were boiling kettles of unexpressed emotion. Then he looked away, studying a notebook on the floor. He kicked it out of the way. "Yea, I've changed, still trying to adjust." He gave an fake little smile. The change and the knowelge of what might come next had disturbed him on a very deep level. The mirrors were covered to avoid the fact that his face that he had possessed for 67 was gone. That combined with the things happening down below, Richard felt that his very identity was under seige.
He sat down sideways in his chair so not to pinch his tail. A moment passed as Richard composed himself then looked up with a smile. "So how you been? Looks like your doing better walking at least.

Shenzi pretending not to notice his uncomfortableness with the current topic, but she obligingly seized on the change in conversation, smiling at him. "Doing well enough. And yeah, the damned feet are doing better. Can stand without crutches again, though not for more then an hour, give or take. Havn't tried dancing yet, kinda afraid I'll fall over." She said, raising an ironic eyebrow.

"Good to hear." Richard nodded, not quite sure what to say. Looking down on his own feet, he wriggled his clawed toes. They were less far along than Shenzi's, indeed in several ways Shenzi had progressed as far as he had in a single transformation. Minus the extra limbs.
"Have you been singing instead?" Richard was searching for a more positive topic.

Shenzi shrugged in response. "Some. Not as much as I would like, since I'm used to having Ed and Banzai with me, but I've been doing some." And she grinned suddenly. "Want to hear some?" She had been trying to write a new song, but hadn't shown it to anyone thus far.

Richard completely missed the lion king reference. But he was more than happy to humor the youth. He found himself reminded that most people on the island helped him think about things other than the dark reality of the island he had been brooding on for the last two weeks. So he smiled and sat back alittle. "I can never resist an exclusive. Be my Guest."

Shenzi smiled, clapping her hands as she shifted on the bed, closing her eyes as she called to mind the words she had been writing over the past few nights. Opening her mouth, she started to sing, her voice strong and melodic as it rose and fell to instruments only she could hear, her head occasionally moving from side to side as she sang. The words slipped by, telling of being trapped with no escape, hoping for release, and how a love was a savior. It was all in english, and not a trace of her accent shown through as she let the last word drain off into silence, opening her eyes with a delighted grin. "Well?"

Richard listened to the song as Shenzi's voice filled the small room. His quiet smile grew as the song went on. He chuckled a bit as she finished. "Well I'm sure this whole situation never sounded so pretty. You should really share it with more people you know." Richard turned and open a drawer in his desk. "Nice to see your still optimistic. IS everything in the song inspired by real events?" Richard was trying to be subtle, emphasis on trying.

She smiled in response to the praise, a small pink flush creeping to her cheeks. Singing always got her in the mood, though not as much as a concert could. "Some of it. Stuck in a place with no way out, wanting to get away, those were true. No love, though. Least not that I'm aware of." Shenzi said with a sudden laugh, flopping back in the bed.
