Flute Players I thought would be shy. (I am one,but Im not shy. I dont know why I still think that...) Saxohones..Loud and abnoxious (I have proof! D:<) Clarinet...Smart,Sometimes geeky OR silly. (lawl) Brass-Tuba-Trombone-etc. SOMETIMES geeky, realy like to play. (also, dont know why I think this, since I know brass players who HATE band) Percussion... Abnoxious, annoying, disruptive, and smart. (LOTSA proof from my band class!)

kittiesluvtacos Trumpets: Think they're cool and almost never shut up. They're constantly making dirty jokes Trombones: possibly bisexual, very perverted and always hitting on band girls. They play as loud as they can and it's pretty annoying Altos: nerdy and can't get dates, so like everyone else, they hit on band members. It's just not that affective Tenors: Opposites of each other. None are the same. They're pretty weird Clarinets: Half are very shy. The other half are the school sluts. Flutes: Same as the clarinets percussionists: rude and the best looking in band, beside the trumpets.( so they think) Very conceited. Also seems kinda right ('sides the... slut part. The ones in my school dont take band. (YES)) Im a flute player and Im freaking crazy. Teehee. Trupets is true for one person I know. -~- But the other trumpets in my band are kinda Just nerds. But we love them anyway.

I thought this was stereo types not band specifics but if that is the case thn here's my band:
Director- Crazynd has the most random stories to tell us
Flutes- Don't talk much but smart
Clarinets- Stupid loud and can't play their parts
Saxophones- we are crazy, funny and high*give us sugar and you don't want to see the results*insane laugh*
Trumpets- Can't play loud but think they're the best trumpets ever
Low brass- Don't really care much some do some don't
Percussionist- stupid and can't stop banging stuff to save their lives
Oboes- One is on a natural high and loves telling chuck norris jokes*or facts as we call it* The other is a ladback type of dude
Bassoon- Sh'es crazy nothing else she's just crazy

This is solely based on my band, but our stereotypes were:
-Flutes are overachievers. -Clarinets are ditsy. -Saxes are jazzy, 'cool.' -Trumpets are goofy and play like heroes. -Trombones are great at dirty jokes xD -Low brass in general have the best sense of humor in the band. -Drummers are scatterbrained.

-Flutes;; loud, girly, they're okay I guess -Clarinets;; don't know what they're doing -Saxes;; one of them is okay. The other is loud and doesn't know what's going on -Trumpets;; loud, stuck up -Trombones;; lost and clueless, can't play loud enough -Drummers;; NOT IDIOTS, but don't pay attention, BD tries to hate them but he knows he loves us, amazing, and hilarious

Cloudstrife299- Marching Band no Jutsu This is all my opinion. Flute: Either uber-hot or just plain annoying. Clarinet: Emo girl or nerdy guy Saxophone: Weird or pimp French horn: Smart girl or skater guy Oboe: Asian kid. Trumpet: Really smart guy or girl who's just in band to get out of P.E.Trombone: Cool kids only. Baritone: Trombone players who like to play other instruments or a kid who has to write note names on the music Tuba: Emo kid or former trombone player. Percussionist: Either really cool or a pothead. Lol That is not true...Completly i play trumpet and i love P.E I play trumpet too. (Just not in class.... shh. The BD doesn't know.) But I'm just saying for my school. All of the trumpets at my school are the laziest kids ever. @Kamirose: Low brass kids (including myself) always have the best sense of humor. And trombones, boy or girl, are amazing at pervy jokes. Our band captain, trombone, a girl, has groped me on more than one occasion. And I'm in 8th grade.

Tuba - fat white guy (although all the tuba players I know are NOT but still...)
Flute - girls - but a male playing flute is kinda hot...
clarinet - geeks (kinda like a poindexter) with the short sleeved dress shirt and the tie and the socks that are too high and the pants too short...
----------but absolutely NONE of the clarinet players fit this image...but still...
trumpet - really tall guys that are BUILT
...and I can't think of anymore...fore now...

In my band it's Flute- All girls, incredibly show-offy, stuck up (not all.... about 2/18 ), only there because they can, and a saxophone who is completely self taught and barely gets high notes is waaaaayyyy better than most of them. Tubas- shy, barely talk and always play too slow or too fast. clarinets- the few we have are really good, too quiet, and very self centered (like flutes) alto saxes- quitters (we have 3 altos and 2 are quitting next year gonk ) too quiet, and never take a solo tenors- hilariously awesome, a little show-offy (when you're playing in a band with only one committed alto you have to be) always laughing and seem to be saying whatever comes to mind. Bari- bossy, loud and plays a wrong note 99% of the time trombones- all guys, really quiet when you want them to be loud and really loud when you want them to be quiet, never stop at cut-off trumpets- first 2 are good, the rest progressively get worse, all nerdy french horns- next to nonexistent oboe- LOUD percussion- all guys, either really good or can't follow a simple 8th note rhythm, half the time, need help with playing a crash cymbal

Musician stereotypes from the eyes of an oboist after 12 years of observation from middle school, high school, and professional adult orchestra. eek
============================= Flutes - Never fails, USUALLY female, USUALLY blonde. Not always though. Is either ditzy or acts like it. About 75% of Guys that I have known to play flute are a little fruity. Either very very sweet, very annoying, or very very mean as in "I am a Flute God!, bow to me!"
Oboes - Being an oboist, I know a lot about this one. Always tend to be worried about reeds. Let me rephrase that, horribly obsessed and distraught about reeds. They say it helps to be slightly crazy to play the oboe, and if your not, the reeds will get to your head eventually. It's also a known steryotype that we're slightly nerotic. Epic tradgedy immediately occures if a reed is broken unexpectedly.
Clarinets - Every single clarinetist i've known seems to have almost no personality. You should see the section in my orchestra. Im afraid to talk to them. They just sit there and stare into space expressionless. Thinking back to school days, most of them DID seem to be incredibly quiet. They always almost seem to be a bit dorky. No offense.
Bass Clarinets - Everyone I've ever known to play this where former flute players or a clarinet player volunteering to play it because someone has to.
Bassoons - Interesting bunch with those bed posts of theirs they play. Always seem to have their own special humor. When their not telling a joke, thier kinda just quiet observers.
Violins - All the violinists I know think they are like the head greatness of the orchestra. Being an oboist I ALWAYS get glares from the old lady violinist's who are protesting that I or my teacher are out of tune. EVEN THOUGH IM STARING AT A VERY EXPENSIVE TUNER. Their always right by the way. rolleyes At least thats first violins from my experience. Seconds always seem to be very quiet and kinda pushed to the back behind first violins, Lord knows what goes through their minds.
Violas - Viola's are a special bunch, always complaining that they are far and few between, and well... they are. I figure mostly it's because of that blasted alto clef no one wants to read. They seem to believe they are special because they play an instrument no one seems to want to play. Most of the time they're converts from violin players who wish to be more unique.
Cellos - They seem like the cool kids of the orchestra to me. Extremely laid back. They do what they need to do with style and get it done. Always really nice to talk to. Their really friendly anyways. I've never met a bad tempered complaining celloist.
Bass - To me bassist have been similar to celloists. Just like coolness amplified really. They should be required to wear sunglasses at all times.
++Here goes Brass, I dont understand that world too much though++
Trumpets - Believe they are gods gift sometimes. Their very loud. O_o
Horns - I cant figure horn players out, they've sat right behind me for years and im still confused as to whats going on back there. I always hear wierd noises coming that direction... They occasionally get odd glances from the oboists like eek
As far as trombone and tuba players go. I dont know whats going on there either. I dont know what to think about them.
Percussionists - lol, do I have to? From a professional level, their nice unless you get the occasional jerk who barks at anyone coming within 2 feet of his equipment. Always running around getting stuff ready to play for about 2 measures. Either that or really bored. Back in school I just remember them all being stoned.
Saxophones - All the sax players I knew in school band were.... hmm.. perverts....at least the guys anyways.. In a funny way though. I havnt known any girl sax players. Two of them I knew.. wait 3.. are now gay. Otherwise from the professional level they actually seem very serious to me.
