SO I HAD THIS DREAM... Evari stayed in the window for quite some time, about an hour or two, before she finally sighed from boredom and slid out of the window and backward onto the floor to stare up at the ceiling again with her feet propped up against the window. She turned her head to the side to stare in the direction of her bed, spotting the book Xai had given her half sticking out from under her mattress. Oh...her journal thing. Xai had told her she had to write stuff in it. Well, okay. She'd write about her weird dream! Rolling onto her stomach, Evari pushed herself onto her hands and knees and crawled over to grab the book and pull it out from under the mattress, climbing on her bed and lying on her stomach as she opened to the second page and grabbed a pen off her nightstand.
I had a weird dream today. I dunno what the point was but I was in this place it was really dark and all goopy and gross. Blood? Watever. It was weird! This mommy dragn came out and told me an this boy to bayb babes babysit her son. It was stupid! He didnt like ANYTHING! and my ownly help was this stupid BOY. ugh. the dragan kept setting stuff on fire...it was funny! But the boy kept being better than me! He was such a showoff pretending he was better at stuff than I am! Oh well, it was just a dream. I dunno...some reason I don't get along with boys. There dumb. Kay is okay though (haha!), I like him. But other boys arent any fun. They won't play with me right.
She stopped writing the entry and just stared at it, tossing the pen aside. This stuff was stupid, why was she even doing it? Nevertheless Evari closed the book and hid it under her mattress, falling off the bed completely intentionally and crawling to the door. She'd find something interesting to do!

"So BORED!" Evari whined, tapping her finger on her nightstand again and changing the channel on the screen in her wall. Why was there nothing on?! She couldn't bother Tyyne, Tyyne was out somewhere with Xai...so she couldn't bother Xai earlier! And she couldn't find Nutter! He was probably asleep in the cereal again, but the cereal was too high for her to reach. Sigh. She snapped her fingers and watched a few sparks fly, sighing again and sitting up on her bed. There were all kinds of clothes scattered around her floor, and so she started to change into them. That was when she heard it. The music. The best music ever. She looked up at the TV screen to see flashing lights in a nightclub, watching as a large logo popped up on the screen that read:
RAVE DAY
THE GREATEST RAVE MUSIC ALL DAY LONG, NO COMMERCIALS, NO INTERRUPTIONS!
Rave...day? Whoa! A whole day just for music she liked?! That was amazing! Evari's eyes widened and she ran over to the wall, nearly tripping and reminding herself she'd been in the middle of putting on a pair of neon purple tights. Oops! Hopping around to get them on, she leaned on the wall with one hand for support, using the other to slide her finger across the bottom of the screen. It made the music louder and she grinned, hopping away and putting on the rest of her outfit. It was when she was finished that she turned around again to get a good look at the people on the large screen. There were so many pretty girls! And they all looked...so much different than her. She stared at them, grabbing a chair from a little table set up in her room and standing on it to get a better look up close at the way the girls were all dressed. Some of them weren't wearing a lot of clothes, huh? And their hair...it was so crazy! But in a good way! Oooh that girl had on pretty makeup. And that girl's nails glowed different colors! Evari looked down at her hands. Her nails were plain. Boring. Hell no! That wouldn't work anymore! Nothing about her could be boring. The music still blaring at its highest volume, Evari jumped off the chair and wandered over to her mirror, staring at herself. She looked almost nothing like those girls. Her hair was plain, and she didn't have a chest like any of them. Or even the figure. She looked like such a...such a kid! Evari frowned at that and turned every which way, putting her hands on her waist and holding her shirt tight against her. She didn't have any curves to her like those other girls did. Even Victoria had had a little bit of a figure to her, huh?
Evari's hands let go of her shirt to hold her hair. It was in pigtails today with little puffs of hair behind them. She looked back at the television again. A couple girls had their hair like this, but it didn't look quite like theirs. They had shiny bits too. Hm...she wanted shinies in her hair. Her skin glowed but her hair didn't. Evari started to look around her room, picking up clothes and toys and pushing things out of the way or tossing them somewhere else. She found three hairclips, a shiny barrette, a couple shiny hairties...hm...would these do? Evari took the ones she had holding her hair up out and put them down on her dresser, staring at herself in the mirror as she tried putting her hair up in a new way. No...wait those were pigtails. Mmf. She tried doing something else...more pigtails. GRAH! Could she do nothing else?! Evari looked at the screen again, seeing that a lot of girls did have pigtails...but they looked so much cooler than hers. She turned around again and looked down at her clothes, taking them off to put on something else. Something more formfitting, something brighter, something cooler. At least the clothes were the easy part. Hm...but she didn't have any makeup, and Xai never wore makeup, and Tyyne definitely didn't have any makeup. Her eyes naturally had thick eyelashes and darkened lines around them. But Evari's didn't! Hm...she didn't have makeup but she did have paint? That was pretty much the same thing, right? She got down on her knees and reached under her table, pulling out a huge bucket of paint and lugging it onto the table with a strained grunt. Man! That thing was heavy! Let's see...she wanted purple, pink...oooh she liked this orange! Hm...that'd do. Evari pulled over her chair and sat down on it at her mirror, leaning in close and opening the first color. Pink. Hm...maybe it'd look good over her orange eye, and the orange paint with her red? Seemed like a good idea to her! Pushing her hair out of her face as best as she could, Evari closed her orange eye and stuck her finger in the paint, slathering it on her eyelid and all around her eye. It dripped a little down her face buuuut she could fix that later! She opened that eye and did her best to resist the urge to wipe it off despite what her instincts were telling her to do. Stupid instincts, what do you know? Nothing! She opened the orange paint and closed her red eye now, doing the same with that side. Hmmm that paint dripped too. Oh well, she'd fix it. Now for her lips! The purple was all that was left. So Evari pouted her lips like she'd seen women on TV do and opened the purple paint, putting a layer of it on her lips and rubbing them together. Augh! This stuff was gross! Why would women do this?! But...but if it looked cool then maybe it was okay.
"EVARI!" Came Xai's shocked voice from the door, seeing what her daughter had just done through the mirror and staring at her with huge eyes. Evari gasped and whirled around in her seat, holding the edge of it between her legs and blinking a few times.
"What?" Why was Xai mad? It wasn't like she'd done anything wrong. It was just makeup, and if Xai tried to tell her she was too young for makeup then...then she could just shove it! Xai walked into the room with an irritated noise, reaching out to hold Evari's face and tilt it from side to side, brushing hair out of the way to get a better look at her face. Wh...what did she do?! Evari pouted for a second, grumbling as her head was turned against her will. What was the big deal? Evari was growing up! She could do this if she wanted to she saw girls with makeup on television and stuff all the time! Even Roxy had makeup! And she was clearly younger than Evari! Hmph!
Xai wiped at the paint with one finger, rubbing it between her index finger and her thumb. Yes, this was paint. The containers were even right there. "What did...what did you do?" She asked, horrified. Evari blinked.
"S'makeup. Duh." She pointed at the television and Xai's gaze moved that in direction, sighing heavily and turning her head back to look at her paint-covered daughter. Ugh, she wanted to do makeup? Well why did she use paint?!
"This isn't makeup, this is paint." Xai let go of Evari's face and reached down for her painted hands. "Paint doesn't go on your face. If you want makeup that badly I will get some for you, and teach you how to put it on." Evari blinked.
"You know how to put on makeup?" Then why didn't she ever wear it?!
"Of course I do. Come on." Evari hopped off the chair and hurried after Xai, staring up wide-eyed at the Urstontaean. The two went into the bathroom first to wash the paint off Evari's face and then into her room. Once they were there she sat Evari down on her bed and pressed her hand against a part of her wall, unlocking the drawers for her dressers and opening up one of them. Inside was an assortment of different kinds of makeup that...actually appealed to Evari's tastes.
The glowing girl gasped and watched as her guardian took out a few different things and set them down on the bed beside her, grabbing a mirror. "Hold this." Evari grinned and nodded, holding the mirror. "Now, I'm just going to teach you basic things. You can come up with your own style and techniques later, okay?" Evari nodded again and went still as Xai held her chin, opening the first thing which held in it an assortment of different colored squares and a little stick with a tiny sponge on the end. Xai rubbed the sponge in a bright red shimmering square and motioned for Evari to close one of her eyes, spreading the color over the girl's eyelid. Evari squealed and wiggled a little, trying her best not to move her head. This was so cool! And it looked so much better than her paint had! The other eye was given the same treatment, and Xai even added a few interesting flourishes that made it more interesting for Evari's style. Eeeeeee!
"Pick a color." Xai murmured as she picked up a small tube, not opening it just yet. Evari hummed thoughtfully, rubbing at her chin.
"Green!" Green? Um...o...kay. Xai would just comply with the request; she was the one who asked, after all. Xai turned the bottom of the tube a few times and a green stick came out, showing Evari what to do with her own lips and then applying the color there. When she was done she capped the tube and put everything away, sitting beside Evari. The glowing girl was speechless, but a good speechless, making a sound of awe after a few moments. Suddenly she tossed the mirror aside on the bed beside her and threw her arms around Xai in a big, tight hug, pushing the woman over and making her laugh as she returned the hug. Wow! That was the second time Evari had ever hugged her! "Thank you, Xai! I look awesome!" Xai...? Heh...so...she was still just Xai, huh? Tyyne called her Momma, but now that she thought about it Evari had never called her anything of the sort. She was always...just Xai.
A somewhat sad smile crept onto Xai's face, petting Evari's hair and sighing. "You're welcome, Evari..." One of her own daughters, her first daughter, never called her mom...that...that was kind of sad. She'd never thought anything of it until Tyyne came along. Evari didn't seem to notice the sudden sadness her guardian was feeling, sitting up and beaming with pride.
"I'm gonna go show Tyyne!" She was gonna be sooooooo jealous because her Xai did things with her without Tyyne~! Ha! Evari scrambled off the bed and out of the room, leaving Xai laying on the bed and staring up at the ceiling with a frown. Faris called Luis Momma, right? Why didn't Evari do that for her? Even after all this time...sigh. She blinked, wiping a finger against her cheek and staring at a drop of wetness that now rest against it. Huh? What was that?

IS IT STRANGE? *The following is all translated from Urstonaean. Powering online...

Voice confirmation, please...
"...Seriously?"
Please wait...
Confirmed. Welcome, Xaisholimikoki.
She was going to have to mess with those settings. Seriously now. She was honestly the only one who knew how to use any of this stuff. Xai frowned and sat cross legged on her bed, staring at the strange hologram screen and tapping her fingers idly on the board on her lap until the keys lit up.
I have two daughters. Evari and Tyyne. They're very different girls...Tyyne is very sweet, and quiet, and very well-behaved; Evari is quite bratty, and stubborn, and very loud, and fairly crazy. Some days I wonder if she has all her wires hooked up properly. Like today, I came home from an errand to find her painting all over her face! She said it was makeup. How peculiar. But when I looked at the television later that night she apparently was influenced by the girls dancing around. She's growing up, I didn't wear any makeup until shortly before I left home...and even now I still hardly wear it! But I taught her how to do it anyway with real makeup. I think I'll give her my makeup as well since I don't wear it anyway. She'll be happy, and I like when she's actually happy and not throwing a fit about something. She even hugged me today! She doesn't hug be very often...
But...I'm just Xai...Tyyne calls me things like mommy and momma. Other children call their own parents mommy or daddy, or some kind of variation of that, but to Evari I have always been Xai. She has never called me Mommy or Momma. I did something I've never done before today when I was thinking about it. I think I...cried? I think that's what it was. I've never cried. But for some reason it just made me so sad...I have two daughters, but only one of them calls me her mother.
I'm probably making a big deal out of nothing, but it bothers me. It saddens me. I've never felt these feelings before, it hurts my heart. Is this what sadness always feels like? If so I really don't want to feel this way anymore.
Well, that's all I can think of to report at the moment. If I come up with anything else I may just come back to this and add to it. The girls get along okay, Nutter is still eating everything in the house, Evari is no better with boys than she was before, and both girls seem to be going along with their lives just fine.

I'LL LOOK AWESOME I did my own makeup today! But I did it with paint. isnt that the same thing??? got to listen to relly cool music too! It was rave day with all kinds of cool music I liked and stuff and the girls were real pretty and I wanted to copy how they look!
Thees jurnle things're stupid...but whatever. Only I can read 'em anyway.
Xai taught me how to do real makeup though! I look SO COOL! Just like the girls on tv! I don't wanna wash it off or nothing! But I gotta practice it myself...somehow...I dunno how. But when I figure it out I'm totally gonna look awesome. Just wait and see! Think Rissy'll like it? Maybe Tori nos how to do this too it looks like something she'd like. I'll just ask Tori then!
Evari closed the book and put it away again under her mattress, climbing off the bed and hurrying to the mirror to really look at herself. She grinned with pride, turning her head this way and that. Man, Xai did a really good job! Weird how Xai herself didn't wear makeup, maybe she just didn't feel like it. Oh well! She'd just figure something out on her own, maybe keep borrowing her makeup or something.

I KISSED A GIRL! Today had been...interesting, to say the least. Evari trudged home with an odd expression on her face, one of confusion and...was that shyness? No way, it couldn't be! Evari? Shy? Such a thing couldn't be possible! But it was, and she was feeling shy and confused as she opened the front door of the house and walked in rather silently, her gaze focused on the floor as she kicked her shoes off at random and let them fly god only knows where on her way to her bedroom. Xai heard the arrival and peered out of a doorway that slid open as her glowing daughter passed it, smiling warmly down at her. "Have a good time, Evari?" She asked, blinking and watching the girl just keep walking by her. "Evari...?" But Evari kept walking until she was at the door to her room, finally catching on that she was being spoken to and whipping her head up to stare down the hall at Xai like a deer in headlights. Her eyes were wide, her skin was glowing as bright as ever, and while it couldn't be seen her whole face was flushed. That was...odd! It worried Xai for she had never seen Evari quite like this. Had something happened? This was so odd for Evari!
"Ah...sorry, what?" Xai blinked. "Wasn't payin' attention."
"Obviously. Did you have fun? ...Are you alright?" Evari rubbed at the side of her neck and nodded, suddenly reaching into her pocket and digging out the money Xai had given her. She held her hand out, waiting for Xai to walk over and do the same so she could drop the money into her guardian's waiting hand. What? That was odd... "Did you not--"
"Tori bought it. S'your money back. Tired now...night." Evari didn't wait for any kind of protest of a goodnight from Xai, disappearing into her bedroom and locking the door behind her. Once the door was locked Evari took off the headphones hanging around her neck, removing the music player as well and tossing them both aside where they landed in a pile of clothes. She took off her gloves, her shoes, her legwarmers, her stockings, her tights...everything that wasn't just regular clothes for her to lounge in. She walked over to her bed and flopped right onto it with no semblance of grace, just laying there and staring at the far wall. She felt funny.
Evari pressed her fingers to her lips, puckering them a little and tracing them with her finger. Her first kiss...and it wasn't some icky boy like she'd heard it 'should' be. It was a girl. A really, really...really pretty girl. She blushed again and grabbed her pillow to hug it tightly, resting her cheek against it and looking to her mirror now. Her lips still felt all tingly. But wasn't this weird? That she liked Victoria kissing her? And that she couldn't stop staring at her body? Evari's cheeks flushed even more as she curled up on her side for a few minutes, her heart racing even as she suddenly got up and clambered off the bed and to the mirror to peer closely at her lips in it. Did they look any different? Well, no...but they felt different. Evari tilted her head to the left, to the right, every which way to see her face at all angles. The only thing that looked different was that her skin was still glowing brighter than it usually did. It only ever glowed this bright when she...when she really liked something.
She'd...really liked Victoria kissing her.
But wasn't this weird? Granted Evari wasn't exactly what one would call normal but...but her best friend was a girl! Then again, Faris was special to her in a different way than Victoria made her feel today. But she was so young! Well...physically. Evari turned to the side and stared at her own chest, frowning at how flat it was. And she didn't have any curve to her like Victoria did. She felt older than she looked; this wasn't fair. She wanted a figure like Victoria! And Xai! And the girls on the TV! But her first kiss...wow! But had she done it right? She didn't know what she was doing at the time so she kind of just awkwardly leaned forward into Victoria! Evari pouted her lips again, puckering them and making kissing noises...or what she assumed was kissing noises. After about a minute of doing this she felt incredibly stupid, stepping back away from the mirror until she was sitting on her bed again. Evari touched her lips again, blushing even more but smiling now. Despite how awkward it had been, she really did like that feeling of having that other girl's lips against her own. But she was just a kid! Should they really have done that? Though she didn't really feel like a kid lately...
Maybe she should talk to someone about this?
...Hell no. Evari curled up on her side again, rubbing her lips together some more. Suddenly she giggled and hugged herself, rolling onto her back and wiggling side to side. She couldn't help it! Evari just suddenly felt so giddy! She'd kissed a girl! And not just any kiss, but her first kiss! It was...it was so different than she thought it'd be! And she'd liked it! Grinning, Evari rolled over again to dig around under her mattress until she found her journal, grabbing her pen and opening up to the first empty page she found.

I REALLY KISSED A GIRL?!
I hung out with Tori today at a cafay café. But it was kinda weird cause she's...really pretty now. She looks real grown up and stuff. And shes been playing violin in a orkistra...is that right? I dunno how to spell that word. But I dunno. I couldn't stop starin at her. She's just so PRETTY! We started talking about swimming and how she doesnt like it cause you gotta wear...nickers? its a silly word for underwear. She was calling swimsuits underwear! How silly! They got plenty of stuff for girls like Tori! Oh well. Shes also got these real cool strings on her back. When you touch em theyre really STRINGS! And they feel funny. She started making weird noises too after she said I could touch them.
And then she kissed me.
It was weird! Like I wasn't exepting it but she did it! Her dress was kinda off cause she was showing me her strings on her back and then she dropped it by accident and she KISSED me! I was real surprised but...I liked it? It felt nice and stuff. It was my first kiss and I liked it even tho it was from a girl. My lips feel all tingly! Hehe! I like kissing I think! It's lotsa fun but I hope Victoria is okay. I didn't know what to do so I dunno if it was any good for her too. Hope I didn't make her uncomfterble or nothin' cause she really is a good friend I'd hate to lose her. Iunno maybe Rissy or Kay can help me. I don't think Xai can...can she? Or maybe Rissy or Kay's moms...I dunno. Guess I could try it. But Im tired now its been a looooooooooong day. I'm gonna go to sleep. Gnight! Evari sighed and closed the book, tossing her pen at random on the floor and slipping the book under her mattress. Maybe an adult would be better to talk to. But who could she talk to? It'd be weird to tell Xai she kissed another girl, and that it was Victoria...right? And besides she didn't understand a lot of things on Gaia what if girls kissing was a really bad thing on Ursontaea? But Faris and Kay had moms! She could talk to them! Or maybe she should talk to Victoria, the one who'd actually done it?
...No, it'd be better for her to talk to an adult. Someone on the outside. Sigh. But when? Evari groaned and rolled over onto her stomach again, burying her face into a pillow and hugging it at the same time, falling asleep within minutes.

FLOWERS FOR HER GIRLS Evari had stayed with Tyyne until she calmed down completely, petting the blonde's hair and finally getting up to throw away their juice boxes. Tyyne stayed in her room pouting at the hyacinth, and while Evari did visit her every now and then to affectionately antagonize her she remained in her own room most of the day. The next morning she got up and got dressed, picking up a small purse she had asked Xai for the day before so she could carry some money in it for an errand she wanted to run. When asked what it was she refused to tell her, merely pouting and saying it was a secret. She even put on makeup, grinning at how much easier it was getting to do lately. Pretty soon she could do really cool stuff! She couldn't wait until she had that kind of talent. Evari messed with her hair a bit, fluffing it until her hair fell over one side of her face and putting her hair in pigtails. Oooh! This was cute! She'd have to style it like this more often! She walked out of her room and out of the house, not bothering to say where she was going or that she was even going out. Xai knew she wanted to run her errand, what did it matter when she left? Besides, she knew where she wanted to go. The flower shop she had gotten Tyyne's hyacinth from. She walked into the flower shop, immediately spotting the older woman from before. Apparently the woman recognized her as well! It was hard to forget a little girl with blue hair and glowing red skin...but she seemed a bit more mature since last time she had seen her! "Well hello! Nice to see you again. Looking to get more flowers?" Evari nodded, looking around at the pretty flowers. "Did your friend like the ones you gave before?" Friend? Oh.
"I gave 'em t'my sister." That was all. Sisters were different from friends. The woman chuckled, busily arranging a bouquet already for a different customer.
"Well, if you need anything just let me know." Evari nodded again, already walking around and looking at the different things to pick from. Who was she getting flowers for though? She'd brought enough for a lot. Tyyne, of course. She'd promised. But...who else? Oh, she owed Faris a present! The gargoyle had said it wasn't necessary but that didn't matter to Evari, she wanted to get her best friend a present and show her how much she meant to Evari. Because...because Faris was her best friend. A-and nothing could change that, right? She pressed her lips together and stared intently at a big pink flower in front of her face, rubbing them together and furrowing her brow. She'd been thinking about that day...with Victoria. Should she maybe get flowers for Victoria? No! No...no, definitely not...that...that would be weird. You couldn't just...not when they weren't even...but Faris...no. Faris was different. She'd never once felt uncomfortable or strange around her best friend, everything with her was just natural. But with Victoria she got nervous and giddy and...and she just couldn't stop staring at her. But she got giddy with Faris too! And she was always happy when Faris was around! But Victoria had made her...er...happy the other day too. Gah! She'd...she'd just focus on Tyyne's flowers first! Pick those out and then she could worry about her own problems; Tyyne was sad because the first present she'd ever gotten from Evari was dying, she didn't like seeing that girl sad, it actually tore at her heart for some reason. Tyyne deserved pretty flowers, different colors, different kinds. Maybe she would even get her seeds to grow these with herself? She could see some shelves with packets of seeds with pictures on them; they must be to grow the flowers here.
"Um...can you help me?" Evari asked the woman who owned the shop, who nodded and took just a second to finish what she was doing, walking over and bending down a bit to be more level with the young girl.
"Yes? What would you like?"
"I wanna get flowers for my sister...'cause hers is dyin'...lotsa pretty ones." But there were a lot of pretty ones. She didn't know where to start! But that wasn't all, she wanted to get flowers for someone else too. Someone who was also very important to her. "And seeds, too. She'll probably like growin' 'em...but um...I also wanna get flowers for my bestest friend...can I do that?" She looked up at the woman with a slightly worried expression, hoping it was okay to do that. She could get even Faris flowers, right? There was no rule that said you could only get flowers for family and for people you were dating? The woman didn't look surprised by her question or even chuckle, she merely smiled warmly and nodded, standing up straight again.
"Of course you can. I'm sure they'll love their gifts. Alright...let's do your friend first, I have a feeling I already know what you'll like. Right this way." The woman gently led Evari to the other end of the store where she kept clusters of large pink flowers with lots of petals. They looked kinda funny! Like...giant puff balls! Haha! But it was really pretty. And Faris was pretty! Evari grinned and pointed at the flowers.
"What're those? I think she'd like 'em." Ah, so her friend was a girl. Perfect, she'd had a feeling about that. Good thing she led her here.
"It's called a pink zinnia. Would you like to get another flower for her as well? We have some gorgeous new chrysanthemums that just bloomed. They're very interesting this year! Look.." The woman put her hands on Evari's shoulders and turned her toward bunches of red flowers almost similar to the zinnia, but the petals were a different shape and pattern and these flowers were reddish with...gold! Whoa! They really were pretty! Evari grinned and pointed at those flowers as well, looking up at the woman with a new boost of confidence. Okay, screw it if you weren't supposed to get your best friend in the whole world flowers! These were really pretty and Faris deserved them for being awesome! She'd definitely still look into getting her a more substantial gift though, since flowers didn't seem to quite match up to the standards of a handheld game system. Faris must've worked so hard to get money to buy two of those for herself and for Evari, she wanted to make the same effort. Flowers would be a good start though.
"I want some'a those and some'a the zinnia things. In a big, pretty bouquet! Oh, can I put a note with 'em?" Evari asked, reaching into her bag. She'd also brought with her a small pad of those little memo notes that came with her journal Xai had given her. She'd just write a small message for Faris on one and then have them delivered to the Blue Moose! The woman chuckled and nodded, glad to see the girl was a bit more animated now. Good, now she'd be more excited to pick flowers for her sister. She wouldn't pry, but the girl had seemed a little off when she arrived, like something was bothering her. It was nice to see her a little more confident; she hardly looked the kind of girl that was easily bothered and unsure. She grabbed a pen out of the pocket of the small apron around her waist and handed it to Evari who gladly took it and walked away to the find a place to write on, climbing onto a stool near the counter where the purchases were made and writing a little something to let Faris know they were just for her and no one else could have them. She hummed thoughtfully when she finished writing. It looked so plain...it needed more! So she drew a heart, and then a smiling sun. There! Perfect!

"Mmkay! M'done~!" She called out to the woman who was walking over with her arms full of the flowers Evari had picked out.
"Alright then. I'm going to put these together and add your note. Would you like them delivered or do you want to take them yourself?" That...was a good question! Evari had sort of shut herself in recently. Would it mean any less if she didn't bring them to Faris herself? She just...she just couldn't deal with people right now. It was a wonder she was even out getting Tyyne flowers now. Evari got nervous again and she chewed the inside of her cheek for a moment, looking at the flowers and then at the door. This was Faris; she should have no problem dealing with Faris. But...still, the idea of going out right now made her anxious. Not yet. She wasn't ready. Evari shook her head, rubbing her lips together and staring at the flowers that were being arranged. They really were very pretty. Her smile returned, pushing the little paper toward the flower lady but never taking her eyes off the present for her friend.
"Deliver 'em~!" Evari said with a comically authoritative tone. It wasn't her intention to order the woman, she was merely trying to force herself to be funny. She smiled, nodding to the excited glowing girl.
"Alright then, I'm just going to need an address to deliver it to." ...Crap! An address? Like, the numbers and stuff? And the name of the street? Evari didn't know!
"Um...but I don't know her address...I know the name of where she lives though! Just not, like, the numbers and stuff."
"Well, where does she live?" The woman asked gently. Apparently this happened before, it wouldn't be the first time someone had wanted to deliver flowers but then realized they don't actually know the address itself.
"The Blue Moose! Her momma owns it an' they live on top of it. D'you know where that is?" Evari looked hopeful, and her spirits soared when the woman nodded. Yes, she knew where that was. She'd gone there a few times herself! Evari cheered and spun around on the stool she was sitting on so her back was to the woman, hopping off the stool. Perfect! She'd picked out some really pretty flowers for Faris, and they were getting delivered with an awesome message from Evari. She did wish she could see the look on Faris' face when she got the flowers but the thought of going further from home than this flower shop gave her a strange clenching feeling in her heart. She felt awkward, and for some reason it felt like everyone was staring at her. Well, they were because she was glowing quite literally but she felt like they were staring at her for other reasons. Like what she'd done had been wrong, against the rules...she really needed to talk to someone soon. It was actually driving Evari a little crazy to just sit at home, but it was the lesser of two evils so to speak. She walked away from the counter to look around at the other flowers. She had flowers for Faris now; all that was left was flowers for Tyyne. The reason she had come out in the first place. There were a ton of really pretty flowers! It was going to be hard to choose. What were these? Lilacs...pink ones. They smelled really nice! And they looked kind of like the hyacinths. Jasmine? Ooh, like the princess in that movie! She'd get those too, all the colors that there were. There seemed to be three. And also decided she would get irises and...Gardenias? Well, she had no idea what those were but they looked pretty. Evari memorized the names and walked over to the shelves with seed packets, matching the names and the pictures and getting a few packets of each of those flowers. The woman gave her some instructions for each flower on a sheet of paper, gathering up the flowers that Evari had decided on for Tyyne. These she would be taking home with her. This was going to be difficult, she had picked a really big bouquet, and the lady had been nice enough to include a pretty vase. Erf. She paid for the flowers this time, using up all the money Xai had given her, and put the seed packs in her bag, picking up the vase and holding it very carefully.
"You'll make sure only Faris gets the flowers? She's a girl my size...big wings and a tail, and horns! And her hair's different colors..." The woman chuckled and nodded.
"I'll personally deliver them myself, and I won't let anyone who doesn't fit that description take them. I promise." Good, good. Evari was grinning ear to ear as she nodded. She gave her thanks and goodbyes as she walked out the store, holding the vase carefully in her arms the entire trip home. Tyyne was still sleeping when she came home, and so she put the vase on her cleared nightstand and put the list of flowers beside it. On the other side she put the seeds. There! She'd like this, right? Evari glanced at her sleeping sister, petting her hair for a moment. This was sure to make her happy again. She stepped away and left, locking herself up in her room again. Evari wiped off her makeup with a sigh, taking off most of her clothes and flopping down on her bed to just stare at the ceiling for awhile. She needed to talk to someone...but...how do you even bring this kind of thing up? UGH! This wasn't cool at all! DAMNIT!

Growth Prompt:
Evari is...an interesting girl. Everything in her life has to be centered around herself, and if it isn't? Watch out. Luckily, it has been obvious she has had some personal growths in that area...to everyone except the person who would appreciate it the most. Something forces Evari's hand, and she has to go out of her way to do something nice Xai. Or at least something out of character for her. What happened, and what does she do for her poor, stressed Guardian?

MY XAI A new day, another day Evari would...not be leaving the house. She had left once to get flowers for Tyyne and have some sent to Faris, and the entire walk there and back had made her feel like everyone was staring at her judgmentally and scolding her for kissing Victoria. But they weren't there! They didn't understand! She...she'd liked kissing Victoria! Was that so wrong? Gah, even Evari didn't understand what was happening anymore. She liked kissing a girl? But what about boys? She'd obviously never kissed a boy before. Evari thought back on all the boys she had met so far. Ryan? Ugh, no she didn't want to even think about that disaster. Gera...eh...he was okay. She'd tolerate him because he was Roxy's brother but that was all, he was dumber than a pile of rocks and so boring. Pilot had been far too easy to manipulate and use, why would someone want to be friends with that kind of person? That little boy...what was his name? The little black kitty. Jackson? Oh! Jaxith! Right. He was too young and naïve to really have an opinion about. That boy from her dream and the boy from the beach though...they made her blood boil with rage. But then...Kay. She liked Kay, adored him even. He was the first person aside from Xai she had ever met, and the first kid she ever played with. She liked hanging out with him; he actually made her happy and seemed to care about her. But he was still just a friend to her.
Now girls. Girls she couldn't find any fault to. Faris? Faris was amazing. Her best friend in the whole world. Nothing would ever change that, she wanted Faris happy because Faris being happy made Evari happy, and she was so much fun to be around. She didn't judge Evari for her quirks, and sometimes she even encouraged them! Pogo had been fun too, she'd let her take her apart and put her back together in a strange way. Roxy had been fun, a girl she could get to follow her rules. Deimos...well...okay, Deimos was strange. But kinda pretty? Though it was weird how she kept insisting she was a boy. Evari shrugged to herself at that thought, draping her arm over her face and sighing. Why would a girl want to call herself a boy? That was just silly? Clearly boys were stupid and dumb.
Then there was...Victoria.
Victoria was...well, she was something. Her fist clenched and she bit down on her lip when she started thinking about Victoria, shifting her arm to rest on her forehead so she could stare up at the ceiling. Victoria was really pretty; Evari had a hard time not staring at her. And she'd let her touch her back...and...and they'd kissed. Twice! Her heart fluttered, the memory of both kisses coming to the forefront of her mind and making her anxious. Those kisses had been nice. Really nice. She'd liked them! But she'd seen...only boys should kiss girls. Anything else was just wrong, right? She'd done something wrong! She whimpered and covered her face with her hands, rolling over onto her side. She didn't cry but she did lay there for a few minutes until her stomach started to growl. Ugh, she was hungry. Hopefully Xai was home to make her something. Evari climbed out of bed and left her room, still in her pajamas. "Xaaaaaaaai! M'hungryyyyy!" Evari called loud enough for the whole house to hear, walking to the kitchen as if expecting her to just be there. It was empty except for Nutter chewing on an apple that'd been left on the counter. What? Evari blinked, looking around with a little frown and checking the living room. Nope...not there. The bathroom? No...damn! Did she really go out?! On a whim she checked Xai's bedroom and expected it to be empty only to find that Xai was in her room. What? That's stupid! Didn't she hear Evari say she was hungry? Evari pouted and walked over with a bit of annoyance, shaking Xai's shoulder. "Xaaaaai! I'm HUNGRY!" She whined, stomping her foot. Xai groaned and opened her eyes, feebly pushing Evari's hands over her shoulder and looking at the glowing girl. Her cheeks were flushed and she looked extremely pale...w-was she okay? Evari was taken aback by the condition of her guardian, biting down on her lip. Was she okay? She didn't look so good. "A-are you--" Suddenly the woman sighed and sat up, clearly unsteady as she pushed herself up to at least her elbows.
"I hear you. You are hungry. I...I wi...ll...I will go..." Xai slowly laid back down. Ugh, she felt so dizzy. Evari suddenly put her hands on the woman's shoulders to keep her lying down, fear in her eyes and looking around with a bit of a panic. She couldn't even sit up! Was she okay?! Xai grumbled and pushed weakly at Evari to get her off so she could get up. Evari was hungry, so she had to feed her. Evari was stubborn though and pushed her back down, her lips pressed tightly together. No! She wasn't getting up! She couldn't even sit up, what was she thinking doing something so stupid? "But Eva--"
"No! Yo-you're sick...obviously...stay down..." Evari said firmly. Xai was surprised but she didn't argue, too out of her mind to really do much of anything except do as she was told. Evari hesitantly let her go, her hands at the ready to push her back down if she stood up again but actually kind of happy to find that she didn't try to sit up again. Evari put a hand on her cheek, then her forehead, gasping at how warm it was. That was bad! She shouldn't feel like that! "Stay here...I'll be back!" She then ran out of the room and to Tyyne's room in a panic, opening the door to find she wasn't there. What?! Where was she!? Evari tried the back yard next but Tyyne was nowhere to be found. "Oh goodness! What's wrong, sweetheart?" The young brunette woman asked with genuine concern, wanting so badly to reach down and pick her up for a hug but she knew she was physically incapable of doing that right now. Evari hiccupped and looked up slowly at the woman, sniffling and rubbing at her eyes with the sleeve of her pajama shirt. The woman frowned and reached into her purse for a small plastic package of tissues, handing one to her which she took and blew her nose with.
"Ma-m-my Zz-Xai is sic-sick and I don't knnn..n..know what to do!" She cried, hugging the woman's knees suddenly and making her wobble a bit. Ah! O-oh dear! The brunette's brown eyes widened and she managed to catch her balance, biting down on her lip and looking at the shelf beside them. Well first she had to get the right medicine, of course! She was about to ask what kind of symptoms her...Xai was showing but never got the chance to even open her mouth before she was interrupted. "AndIforgotmymoney!" Evari whimpered. The woman gasped. She didn't have any money?! Then what...what would she pay with? The first thing that came to mind was helping this poor girl, checking her phone for the time. Good, good. She had plenty of time.
"Shhh, shhh. It's going to be alright. I'll buy the medicine for you. Now, what is your Xai like? Is she coughing? Sneezing? Fever?" Evari sniffed, wiping her nose with the tissue she'd been given. She wasn't coughing, or sneezing...a fever was when you got really hot, right?
"Um..sh-she looked real dazed, and her face is hot...and she couldn't sit up're nothin'!" Ah, that was it. Other smiled and gently freed herself from the little girl to step away and look through the shelves. She knew just what to get! Where, where...here it is! She grabbed a box of severe symptom cold medicine and a fever reducer, watching as the girl scrambled to her feet and bounded over to her with her hands reaching out for the medicine. The woman couldn't help but giggle and handed the boxes to her, resting her hands on her belly after.
Evari looked at the boxes, reading them over and smiling again. This was it? This was what she needed? Great! Her skin was beginning to glow a dull red again, which surprised the brunette, but for now she figured the reason behind it was the lighting. Strange lighting...yes...that was it. "Now I'm just going to grab something for my daughter and I'll be right back. Wait here." Evari nodded her head and waited impatiently in the middle of the aisle, hopping from foot to foot and looking around. It only took her a few minutes to get what she needed, returning to the hopping child and guiding her to the checkout counter. She had to take the boxes for just a moment so they could be rung up, giving her the bag immediately after while paying for them and the medication she had come to pick up. Evari's skin glowed brighter and she hugged the bag. Yes! She had medicine for Xai! She thanked the woman who looked perplexed by the fact that she was glowing bright, bright red, then she ran out of the pharmacy and back toward home. She had to get home and give this to Xai! When she returned she kicked off her shoes and ran straight to Xai's room, shoving open the door and rushing to the side of her bed. Xai's eyes were closed...and she didn't open them when Evari came in. She definitely hadn't been quiet about it! Evari dropped the bag with the medicine in it and just stared. W...what? Was she too late? Evari's eyes watered up with tears and she pursed her lips, sniffling, her shoulders shaking. Why wasn't she awake? She needed to be awake!
"Xai...?" She called quietly, shaking her shoulder. Nothing. Her heart just about stopped. "Xai...w-wake up...wake up, Xai! XAI!" Evari shook her shoulders and finally managed to wake the sleeping Ursontaean who blinked and pushed her away instinctively. Gah! Who was attacking her when she was sick and vulnerable?! Oh...wait, was Evari alright? She was crying! Evari came back down to hug her tightly, burying her face into the woman's shoulder. "Y-you're awake! Don't fall asleep again it was too scary!" Scary? What was scary? Xai didn't understand but she pat Evari's back anyway. Evari let go and bent down for a second to pick up the boxes and put them on the edge of the bed, picking them up and sniffling, smiling with hope. "A-a nice lady helped me getcha some medicine! It'll help you get better! Y-you will get better, right?" Xai looked shocked by this bit of information. Evari went out and got her medicine? Her? Without...her asking? And she was crying? And scared? Why was she doing all this? For...for her? Evari's lips were moving like she was saying something but Xai didn't catch what she said, too wrapped up in her own thoughts and too far out of it. Come again? Huh? Evari wiped at her eyes and opened the fever reducer's box, dumping out a little aluminum and plastic tray of pills and reading the box for a number. Two every...six hours. Okay. She popped out two pills and grabbed Xai's hand, putting the pills in her hand and closing her fist around them.
"J...just take 'em...please." She pleaded with Xai, holding her hand in both of her shaking hands. Xai gave a slow nod and tugged her hand free from Evari's to open her mouth and drop the pills inside, swallowing them and sighing. Heh...Evari didn't get water, that had felt so strange. Wait...the fact that Evari was doing any of this was strange!
Xai turned her head lazily toward Evari, lifting a hand to brush it against her wet cheek. Wait. It was wet? Why was it wet? Oh, she was crying. "Why are you crying?" She asked quietly, furrowing her brow and trying to focus. Evari blinked, surprised that Xai even had to ask. So this meant...she really didn't realize...? She was Evari's! Had Evari been wrong all this time? Xai...didn't know she cared about her? But that wasn't right! Evari loved her Xai! Was Victoria right, after all? The fact that she didn't call her Mom...was strange? Evari frowned.
"'Cause yer my Xai. An' I need you." Xai didn't look convinced. She needed her...for...food? Oh, she'd been hungry earlier. So that was all she was. She sighed and Evari shook her head. "N-not like that! Yer my Xai! My Xai! M...my momma!"
...Did she really just say that?
The Ursontaean's eyes widened in shock, the words playing through her hazy head. Her...momma? She really just said that? Evari had never called her that before! Xai couldn't help but smile, holding her arms out for Evari to come to her, which she did. Evari climbed on the bed and hugged Xai tightly, burying her face into the woman's shoulder and closing her eyes while Xai hugged her back, resting her head against Evari's. She really did care about her. This made up for her day so far! "S-so yer gonna get better?" Evari asked after a few minutes of quietly holding Xai. She nodded slowly, her eyes closed and fingers toying with Evari's hair.
"Thanks to you. I just need to get some rest..."
"'Kay...Xai?" Evari peeked up at Xai through her hair, chewing nervously on her lip. Xai hummed in acknowledgement but didn't have the energy to do much more. Evari hugged her tighter. "I love you, Xai." A wide smile spread across Xai's lips as she buried her face into Evari's hair, rubbing the little glowing girl's back.
"I love you too, Evari...now...I need to sleep..." Evari nodded.
"Can I stay awhile?"
"Of course you can. In fact I think I would prefer that." Xai said softly as she tightened her hug a little, which was just fine with Evari as she nodded again and closed her eyes. She'd stay until Xai got hungry, or until Tyyne got hungry. They had to have something for dinner, right? She'd just...er...well...she'd figure something out. Xai wasn't going to be doing anything until she was better! Evari would make damn sure of that.

CHECK IT NOW! Xai had been sick for a few days but she finally seemed to be getting better with Evari's help, and when Tyyne had come home she had been shocked to find that their mother was sick in bed and been enlisted to help out. It was certainly an experience just trying to figure out how to make breakfast! What did these words say? Was this the on button? This was a blender, right?
In the end it'd turned out that yes that was the on button but no that had not been the blender. It disposed of garbage, evidently. Damn! So much for milkshakes for breakfast. Evari had really been looking forward to that too! They settled on fumbling through a phone book that had been dropped off at the front door and finding a pizza place nearby, staring at the device that they used for a phone. Tyyne didn't know how to use it and neither did Evari...but it kinda looked like every other phone, just oddly shaped and the numbers were all in Ursontaean characters. Evari took the initiative and started guessing what each number was, eventually getting it right on the tenth try when she really was about to give up. The pizza guy almost wouldn't give them their pizza because they were kids! Hmph! But the pizza did arrive and it was thoroughly enjoyed by the two very hungry girls. They even saved some for Xai, unable to give it to her right away since she was sleeping. They watched movies, they checked on Xai, they fed Xai, they stayed with Xai...
And then suddenly Evari herself felt sick. She wobbled and swayed unsteadily, having to catch herself on the walls and furniture just to keep herself standing. Ugh...g...get it off. She started rubbing at her skin, leaning back against a wall outside of Xai's room and sliding down it to sit on the floor. Her hands rubbed furiously at her arms until they buried themselves in her hair. Her head hurt so bad! Her whole body felt like it was on fire and...it was too tight! Too tight! Like she was wearing a tight leather suit that she couldn't take off and it was suffocating her! Needless to say, when Tyyne saw her sister's behavior she kind of...freaked.
"Ev-Evari? Evari are you okay? S-say something! Pl-please! Don't get sick like Mommy!" Tyyne whimpered with worry, gasping and jumping back as Evari swatted her away and pushed herself up albeit with the grace of stability of a newborn baby giraffe that had just been dropped on the damn ground for its own birth.
"I'm fine." She snapped, growling and stumbling to her room. "Just...I dunno...been workin' too hard. Gonna take a nap." Evari left it at that and brushed past Tyyne to get to her bedroom before the girl could protest or say anything else, locking her door and crawling to her bed. She didn't bother to take off her clothes until she was lying on the bed already, pulling and tugging all her clothes off. Everything. She couldn't stand to wear any of it any longer! It was all too confining! The clothes were thrown on the floor and she curled up on the bed with a groan, rubbing at her face and closing her eyes. Ugh, why was she feeling so uncomfortable in her own skin all of a sudden? It felt too tight! Somehow she managed to fall asleep. She wasn't sure how or when, but she did. It was dark by the time she woke up, and the house was completely silent. Usually Xai tinkered with her equipment late at night but since she had been so sick there had been none of that, it was a bit unsettling to wake up to a silent house at night.
But...something felt different tonight...she couldn't quite place it. Granted she felt a lot better, but there was still something odd. She felt like she was taking up more of her bed somehow. Evari blinked, stretching out on her bed and finding that her feet...could reach the edge of the really tried? Well that was different! It felt like there was an unfamiliar weight on her chest too. Looking down at herself gave her the answer she was looking for when she realized that from this angle she couldn't see her feet. What did she see? Two large glowing additions to her chest that were quite round. Hey...wait a second...these were...! "BOOBS!?" Evari sat up sharply and grabbed at them to make sure they were real. She gasped, squeezing them. They were real! Holy s**t! This wasn't a dream! These were hers! She had to show Xai! She threw herself off the bed, landing on the floor with a loud 'OOMPH' but standing up quickly. Whoa! She was tall now! Awesooooome! She was grinning as she grabbed her blanket and wrapped it around herself like a dress, running out of her bedroom and to Xai's to show her. Xai was still sleeping, or she was until her door suddenly flew open and a large glowing figure came running at her. The woman was still a bit sick and so...well...an unfamiliar figure coming at her in the middle of the night freaked her out. She screamed and scrambled to the other side of her bed, holding one of her pillows like a pathetic shield.
"Xai! Xai s'me! Look! I got bigger again!" She cheered, pressing a hand against the walls to brighten the lights so Xai could actually see her. Xai flinched against the light and rubbed at her eyes a moment before finally squinting against the light and looking...up...at her daughter. Whoa. She really did get bigger all of a sudden. She looked so much older! Taller, her hair was much, MUCH longer...she looked slimmer underneath the blanket around her body, and she had breasts and curves and...wow! "Isn't it awesome?!" Xai smiled finally, nodding her head with closed eyes. Evari grinned proudly. She'd done what she came here to do, but Xai seemed really tired.
"Can I borrow some clothes t'go shoppin' tomorrow?" She'd need her own clothes after all. Xai nodded.
"Of course...you will need money too..." Evari nodded now, leaning over carefully to gently push Xai back down to lie down and sleep. "And clothes and--" Evari laughed.
"I already got clothes. Y'said I could borrow yours." Xai blinked. Oh...she had? Huh. Well, okay then! "Go bad to sleep, Xai. I'll bring ya some breakfast and stuff b'fore I go out. " Evari said as she leaned over to kiss her mother's forehead. The woman nodded and closed her eyes, rolling onto her side and falling back asleep rather quickly. Evari giggled, walking out and back to her own room. Once she was there she tossed her blanket back onto her bed, walking over to her mirror and leaning on close to get a good look at her face. She tilted her head every which way, looking over every part of her face she could possibly see. Her lips were plumper, her eyelashes were thicker, and her whole face was slimmer too! She stood back to see more of herself in the mirror, turning her body much like she had done with her face. Breasts, curves...taller, slimmer...wow! She grinned. "This is gonna be awesome."

Was it Wrong?Things have been...interesting for Evari. She's very confused, and needs the help of someone more experienced and unbiased. Hopefully unbiased, anyway. And so she decides to pay Luis a visit at the Blue Moose for once.

I HAVE A CONFESSION... Evari made the slow walk back to her house. It wasn't slow because she was distracted; no she was hardly distracted this time in fact she stared at the ground the whole time. For once she was deep in thought, trying to figure out what to do and what to say now. So she liked girls. Okay. Big deal. Even Luis had said it wasn't bad...and if Luis said it then it must be true, she had only known the woman to lie to her once and that had been a dirty trick when she was a kid. Stupid tablecloths. She kicked at a can that had been left on the sidewalk, keeping it close to her so she could keep kicking it for now. Did she have to tell Tyyne? No...that girl was far too sweet and innocent, she doubted she'd want to hear it or understand. Tyyne may have been annoying as hell but she was still Evari's little sister, she did feel some kind of protective urge over the deer girl to protect her innocence. Huh...was she growing up more than she realized? That was unexpected. Evari gave the can one last swift kick and watched it go flying through the air until it hit the windshield of a car that happened to be driving by. She watched it continue on for a few feet before stopping abruptly at the end of the block. "Ohshit!" She looked around to see where she was, finding the house to be right by her side. Evari hopped over the tiny fence in the front yard and ran straight into the house, closing then locking the front door behind her. Xai blinked and peeked out from the living room when she heard the door slammed closed, seeing Evari pressed up with her back against the door and her arms out as if trying to keep someone out.
...Ugh. Xai sighed and put a hand over her face. "What did you do?" She asked with a bit of a groan. She was used to this, Evari causing trouble, but now she was older...she could cause bigger trouble than before. A knock came at the door and Evari laughed sheepishly, hurrying away from the door and very nonchalantly (Or as nonchalant as a guilty person can get) into the kitchen. Xai sighed again and watched her leave, rolling her eyes and walking toward the door. She opened it to find a fairly bothered man standing in her doorway, blinking and staring up at him. My, he was a tall one! He was even taller than her! "Um...yes? Can I be of assistance?" The man grumbled.
"There was a glowing girl who ran in here. She kicked a can at me as I was driving." Oh...so that was it. Xai held up a finger.
"One moment." The man nodded and waited, watching the alien lady turn and walk into the kitchen and then return a few minutes later with a tight grip on Evari's upper arm. Evari was pouting and stumbling after her, but Xai was strangely calm. She locked herself up for all this time, finally goes out, doesn't even say where she went and now comes home well past dinner without a single call or anything only to come home running from doing something wrong? She was actually kind of upset about that. Evari knew, she could see it, but she still didn't want to--holy crap this was a large man. Her glow dimmed and she pouted up at him, standing on her own and crossing her arms across her chest and putting her weight to one leg in a show of boredom and defiance. This was stupid, all she did was kick a can, and all she wanted to do was talk to Xai about something actually important. The man recognized her instantly, the glowing girl with the blue hair and the weird makeup and the scanty clothes looking ready for some kind of weird dance party or something. He scowled at her. "Evari, this man says you kicked a can at him while he was driving?" Evari sighed and rolled her eyes, clearly impatient and wanting to get this over with.
"It was an accident. I didn't kick it at him. I kicked it and it just happened to hit his windshield. S'not like I did it on purpose."
"I still demand an apology. I could have crashed."
"Dude, you didn't. I saw you. You didn't even swerve." Evari raised a brow and refused to back down, standing straight and tall with both her hands on her hips now. What the hell? This was a waste of time! "I ain't apologizin' for something that isn't my fault, 'specially not to some creepy dude like you who follows teenage girls to their houses in the middle of the night." Xai gasped and stared at Evari, frowning at her and then turning back to the man. How rude! She knew Evari was stubborn but...geeze, Evari! Why was she acting this way? The man's face turned red, he looked ready to pop!
"I'm so sorry, sir! I..I'll talk to her about this, I swear. It won't happen again. I'm so sorry." Xai apologized desperately, pressing her hands together and holding them just underneath her chin. The man tore his gaze from one girl to the other and then back again, his face still red with fury. This little...b***h! But at least her roommate was cute. "If there's any way we could make it up to you--" He raised a brow, staring down at the cute little alien girl.
"Well, maybe...how about you and I--" Evari's eyes widened and she grabbed the door from Xai, slamming it closed again and locking it with a growl. ******** no, he wasn't touching her Xai. Not that perv. Xai gasped, looking appalled by Evari's behavior. She was about to protest when Evari turned and hugged her tight, hiding her face in her mother's shoulder. Xai blinked and froze, her words dying away with the sudden show of affection. Huh...bu...what? She didn't seem to be ready to loosen her grip on the woman, in fact tightening her hug when she took too long to return it. Xai frowned and lifted her arms to loop them under Evari's, rubbing her back and tilting her head against Evari's. This was...strange. Was Evari alright? Evari held her tightly for a few minutes without saying a word or making a single noise, refusing to let up on her hold until she felt ready. Xai was strangely okay with this; Evari didn't hug her very often, and she definitely didn't act this way a lot, not to mention she'd been acting so...off lately. It was worrying to Xai but what could she do? Evari wouldn't talk to her. Maybe this meant she was going to now?
Eventually Evari let go of Xai, frowning and refusing to look at her. Xai just watched her, her data ring beginning to spin as she unconsciously analyzed her eldest daughter. Her heart rate was increased, pulse rising, her temperature as well, she was showing signs of anxiety and...fear? Even her hands were shaking marginally. What was wrong? "Evari...? What's the matter?" She asked slowly, lightly holding Evari's arms. Evari's mismatched eyes turned to watch Xai from the corners, biting down on her lip and looking around for a moment to see where they were. Oh. The couch was right over there...no. No, she didn't want to do it out here. She wanted to be behind a closed door. Spare Tyyne any rage that this alien could possibly be capable of.
"Um, n-nothing. Can...can I talk to you?" Evari's voice was quiet, nervous. She'd never been so nervous before! She knew she was being silly...maybe? Was she being silly to be so scared to do this? Luis had said anyone who loved her would not leave her, but while Xai loved her she was still not of this world. What if they had different laws?! Different views. Different...different everything! Xai nodded, looking very confused now. Evari had never asked permission for something before! Not that she could remember, anyway. Evari sighed with relief and gave a nervous chuckle, guiding Xai out of the living room and through the house until they were in her room. She quickly sat down on her bed, waiting for Xai to join her. That was when the nervous feeling in her chest kicked up a notch, losing her breath for a moment as she rubbed at her face. She smudged her makeup horribly but she didn't care at the moment; it was just makeup, she was going to wash it off before bed anyway. She had no intentions of going back out today. She'd done what she wanted to do today. How to do this though? Should she start slow? Just say it? Ease into it? No batting around the bush? She...she had no idea! She'd never done anything like this before! Nothing! Augh. This was a lot scarier than she thought it'd be. Xai sat quietly at the edge of Evari's bed, a frown set on her face as she just watched her for now. Her glow...it was dimming! Wh-why? What was going on? She said it was nothing, so then why was she acting this way? It didn't make any sense! Evari distracted herself by tugging the hairbands that kept her hair in pigtails out of her hair, ruffling her hair a little until it covered her face almost entirely with a sigh. Eventually Xai saw an orange eye peering at her through the mess of blue and Evari took a slow, deep breath in. "Okay...s-so..." Erf. She felt like she was gonna be sick. You can do this, Evari! You had to! "S-so I..." Evari glanced at Xai for a moment, seeing her just watching her, waiting with such expectancy...ARGH! She couldn't do it!
Suddenly Evari made a noise of frustration and stood, startling Xai who remained seated and just kept her gaze on her. What. Was. Wrong?! Evari was starting to scare her! Evari began to pace a little, she didn't go very far but it was obvious what she was doing. She did this for about a minute before she finally stopped dead in her tracks and looked toward Xai again. Ugh...this sucked. "I...well, today I...went out!" No s**t, Sherlock. That was lame. Do over! Do over! "Or, rather, I...I went to the Blue Moose and paid Luis a visit. I know, right? Not Faris? That's...heh. Next time. I...I had to talk to someone...annnnd...Luis was my best choice!" Xai blinked and cocked her head a bit, her brow furrowing. What in the world was she going on about? Evari breathed out a scared giggle and rubbed at the back of her neck, getting makeup there as well now. Oh well. She'd just take a shower or something.
"See...you...you remember when I went out and hung out Victoria awhile back, right? The time before I went out with her and Faris."
"Yes, I do. Wh--"
"Good! Good..." She didn't mean to be rude this time, just Evari really wanted to do this before she lost what little nerve she had right now. Her hands shook and she wrung them together, clenching her fists together a bit. "Well, we were...talking about stuff. Swimming and stuff. An-and she said she had these...strings on her back! So I wanted to see them, 'cause I mean come on having strings on your back? Real strings? That's friggin' awesome! Heh..." Now what? Oh...well...okay, she could obviously continue! Right. Haha! How silly. Duh! Ha...ha...heh. Ugh, damnit! "So anyway...one...one thing led to another and..and we kissed." She paused after that and let out a breathless laugh of worry, clearly shocked that she even said it to begin with. Xai blinked but didn't say anything. Okay, they kissed...it happened? Donovan had kissed her hand. No big deal. Evari wasn't quite sure what to make of this lack of reaction, swallowing hard and continuing anyway. Now she just couldn't look at Xai, instead wandering aimlessly around her room. She could feel Xai's eyes following her. "So, like...yeah. I...I got real scared," No, really? "But um...I...I talked to Luis, 'cause she seems real down to Earth, y'know? Of course you know; she's your friend. Heh. Right. Um. So anyway...ah...w-well...see...I...I really liked kissing Victoria...it felt really good." Her cheeks flushed, and unfortunately with her almost completely dulled skin it was easy to see this. "And the more I think about it the more I like it. I...I hate boys. Most of them are stupid! And...and they're jerks, and they're so easy to manipulate...seriously! I got a boy to get me something with tickets he worked for just because I was nice to him! And then others just friggin' piss me off! Like...that kid on the bus, and another Tyyne and I met at the beach...and, oh god, this boy at the shop. He was such a...ugh! And they're not even...good to look at! They're all flat and boring and just why do people think they're all that? They're not even that cute! But girls...heh. They're really nice. Curves and pretty faces and I've never met one I didn't like and...o-oh, man. I'm rambling. You don't want to hear any of this." Evari sighed and turned away from Xai completely, her hands cupping her face. ********, she was screwing up royally. Xai remained quiet for a moment before finally saying anything.
"What are you trying to say, Evari?" She didn't understand. She really didn't. Evari wasn't making any sense! She'd never seen the girl so flustered! Evari blinked a few times and slowly turned to look over her shoulder at her mother who was looking right at her, leaning toward her with a look of worry all over her face. ********, she was the worst. She was making Xai worry over nothing. Evari dropped her hands, slowly turning on her heel and staring at the floor. Come on, Evari...you could do this. You just had to. She clenched her fists and bit down on her lip, holding her breath before letting it out with one difficultly blurted out phrase,
"I'm gay!" She gasped and her hands flew to her mouth instantly, eyes widening and glow flaring back to life out of pure shock. She...she said it! Oh s**t! Now what!? Was Xai going to get mad? Would she be okay with it? Oh god...she'd...she'd never been so scared before...never! Anything else that had frightened her before now was nothing compared to this! Again Xai didn't say anything, just trying to process this information now. But wait...this didn't add up. Evari was gay? Then why was she behaving this way? She was terrified! These were not the signs of happiness! What was so difficult about saying one was happy? She was happy if Evari was happy! But...
"I don't understand.." Gay meant happy, cheerful, full of glee...things like that! It made no sense! Evari was dumbstruck, her heart sinking into her stomach and the color seemed to drain from her face. She didn't understand. She didn't understand! ********! She had to do it again?! It took so much to say it the first time!
"I...I like girls." Evari sounded slightly defeated as she said this if only because there really was no not understanding now. Xai had to know what she was saying now. Xai blinked.
"As in homosexual?" She tilted her head. Evari frowned again and nodded slowly. "Oh...that's what you were trying to say?" She was shaking all over now, nodding again as her knees seemed to give out from underneath her and she crumpled to the floor, sitting on her knees and gripping the edge of her bed. Xai gasped and reached out to catch her only to be too slow to get her in time, leaning over on the bed. "Um, is there something else I'm missing?" Evari tightened her grip on the bed.
"You're not...angry?"
"No?"
"Upset? Going to kick me out?"
"Not at all. Not a chance!"
"This isn't something totally forbidden on your planet that disgusts you and makes you want to disown me?"
"...Is that what this is about? Evari..." Xai sighed and sat up, patting a spot on the bed next to her. Evari hesitated at first and then got up, sitting down beside Xai. The alien quickly tugged Xai closer to her and held her in a warm hug, petting Evari's hair. The girl's eyes widened and her heart felt like it stopped, her breath quickening as she quickly returned the hug. Xai was hugging her! She wasn't pushing her away or yelling or getting angry or trying to attack her or kick her out or any of the things she had fear! She was so happy she could cry! In fact she did cry. Evari whimpered happily and buried her face into Xai's shoulder, shoulders shaking as she sobbed into the alien's shirt. She couldn't help it, she'd never felt so relieved. Xai smiled and rocked gently with the normally glowing girl, holding her against herself and murmuring soothingly in her ear. "It's alright...shhh...it's okay. Evari, I love you. You are so precious to me; I want nothing more than for you to be happy. I don't see anything wrong with this if it's what you want, if it's what makes you happy." She chuckled softly. "I've never known my little Evari to do anything that she didn't want, after all. You're a very strong girl." Evari hiccupped and nodded, her fists clenching and bunching up the fabric of Xai's shirt. Poor thing, she really had been terrified, huh? Xai kisses the side of Evari's head and continued to hold her for as long as she wanted, rubbing her back and petting her hair. See? It was okay. Xai didn't see anything wrong with this! Evari stayed where she was for now, crying happily against Xai. This lasted for several minutes that seemed to just drag on forever and ever, but she did finally release Xai enough to wipe at her face. Her makeup was completely smudged now, the rainbow colors having long since travelled down her face. It was rather funny to see. There was no black anywhere on her face...just every other bright neon color of the neon rainbow. Xai chuckled and wiped one of Evari's cheeks with her thumb, her other hand gently holding her chin. "There...are we feeling better now?" Evari's breath shook as she nodded, smiling and rubbing her lips together.
"Y-yes...so you're sure you're not angry?" Xai laughed, nodding her head and pushing Evari's hair out of her face.
"Yes, I'm sure. Now..you missed dinner. I want you to clean up right this instant and come to the kitchen; I'll make you some burgers and a big chocolate milkshake. That sound good?" Evari couldn't help but grin, nodding again. That sounded great! She was starving and that meal sounded absolutely amazing. Xai smiled. "Good, I'm glad." She then leaned forward to press a light kiss to Evari's forehead. "I love you, Evari." Evari closed her eyes, smiling warmly.
"I love you, Mom." Evari said quietly, opening her eyes and watching as a very happy Xai stood up, ruffling her hair. She laughed.
"I'll see you in a bit. Now go clean up or you get nothing."
"Okay~." Evari giggled, standing and following Xai out of the room. The two parted once they were outside in the hallway, Evari heading toward the bathroom and Xai to the kitchen. Evari sang happily the whole way, even laughing and dancing as she disappeared into the bathroom.
