A Bump in the Night
[ Asch + Basket from Xaki, I guess. ]

When it came to the storyteller's words, things usually happened on clear and normal nights, when all was calm and none were the suspecting, but this was nothing like the storyteller's tales. It had stormed all day, and continued into the wee hours of the night, the water flowing through the rivers of the forest that swelled and made the lake such an unwelcoming place to those who lived by it. Such was the case for the foal of flaming red hair, the ash of the sacred flame - an adult's mind in a foals body. He was coming to a quick conclusion that he despised spring - it brought downpour and uncomfortable weather to the little teepee.

To his unknowing chagrin, it would be worse.

It was a busy location, where he lived - he had been taken under the wing of a two-legger who was claimed to be in touch with the spirits of animals - a creature without sight who cared for creatures, never caring of how malformed or estranged she was. Having followed the hooffalls of the stallion of blazing fire and his b***h of a "sister", the stalli-colt (for he knew that he was too old to be a colt,) never saw this little grounds often - his wards having no love for the others that were cared for the woman - especially one of pure light and beauty who always carried the dark spot on his soul. But he digressed, this was a little different. The Stallion - Shecil - was one of fire, and the rains made him sluggish and hard to maintain when drenched till his fires were near cooled.

So here he was, watching the light drizzle fall from the flaps of a overhead tarp just outside of the main teepee area, his unrulry hair plastered to his painted maw, the colour a more rustic, ash coloured red instead of it's usual flame, drenched beyond relief. The walk and been forever, and when he finally made it, no solace was found for him, so he opted to stick out the rain and watch the storm through shocking green eyes. It was better than nothing.

It hadn't been any sudden movements that alerted the one known as Asch of another's presence, but the aid of mother nature herself, a shock of thunder ripped through the calm clearing, alarming all of the upcoming onslaught of new storms, sending a fright up the spine of the smaller horse. It was only then did he spot the shadow from beyond sight, his eyes darting to where he had viewed it - a sight just barely out of range - something speeding directly towards him.. and..

--whumph--!

Right at his side, from no where! Lifting his head from the ground that decided to suddenly rush up to meet him, it took Asch a few moments to grasp what had happened, his last memories being the strange shadow, the sound and the sudden heaviness that took him down. With a dazed glance, the worrisome sight filled his range of sight. It had been no bird of prey that Shecil always warned of, nor anything that a two legger would use in offence - but a basket as blue as the river and almost as large as he - something akin to the strange bright one the accursed Unicorn of the teepee had brought in. And it was bleeding, just a little.

Wait, bleeding? This was terrible! With an attempt to get back to his hooves, his young mind raced - what would he do? HE couldn't just leave it here, it was unorthodox! HE had been a basket once, right? Shecil never let him rot - although the she-b***h always said he should have, he would have his way with her when he outsized her, he was sure. What, NO. Shaking his head from the vagrant strings of thought, his eyes turned to the basket again. Whatever was in there needed help, and now. This was no time for him and his little issues, he had to find someone, and fast!

With a great snort, he grabbed what he could of the wicker basket - the reassuring weight bothering him, but only slightly so, and with great heaves and dedication, Asch started to drag the little basket to the fire Stallion - he'd know what to do..

Firefly, Would You Shine Your Light.
[ Horses: Slyph / Shade ]
[ Rest is Here! ]

[ Status - In Progress. ]

Quote:
Where was she?
Sylph had been following her fire red haired charge for the day, and had seen many a thing while she was in his shadow - and it had only been a few days since she 'sprung' alife from her little wicker home - the blood stained basket had been a close call for the little filly, and she intended to see the world before she found herself so close to death once again. These angel wings would get her through life, said the priest in her little teepee.

It was no time like the present to do a bit of exploring, she thought to herself. So, taking a deep breath, she let the winds of this little valley invade her personal bubble, it was a good day indeed to be alive!

Quote:
Shade had gotten lost... he'd been following Daddy when oops... he made a wrong turn and now he was... where was he...? Oh wait, that was the point of being lost, you didn't know where you were. Well, that confirmed it, Shade didn't know where he was so... he was lost. He didn't even remember where he'd come from! His head had been down... oops...

Getting a bit scared from being on his own Shade backed up, accidentally bumping into a nearby shrub. He jumped forward quickly and let out a small gasp, trying to keep his voice down. He'd been warned about little lost foals... things came to eat them for dinner just like he ate the grass! Oh dear, oh dear, how troublesome, where had his Daddy gone? Why was he here, alone, lost...? Did he do something to deserve such a horrible fate?

Something buzzed around the little colt's head and he quickly rushed out of the way and behind some large grass. Was the buzzing thing going to eat him? Wait... didn't somebody tell him once that buzzing things were harmless? He couldn't remember! His lip began to quiver and feelings became overwhelming, he was going to cry... he was alone and lost and turning into a cry baby.

Oh bother..

May flowers bring What?
[ Horses: Talullah / Tess / Dante / Update: Jack Added ]
[ Rest is Here! ]

[ Status - In Progress. ]

Quote:
It felt as if Spring decided to take a vacation from swinging into the valley this year, but it had come, finally, and the skies rested from their onslaught of the white snow, turning it into a soft rain during the late month of april, opening passages and bringing the quiet grounds back to life. With the turn of the weather to such a pleasant temperature brought with it a different kind of Soquili, they would walked the path less taken, or sometimes always taken, just to extremes.

Talullah was a good example of such a group of travellers, nomadic at heart - staying in one place was never in her agenda, she had been raised on the edge of the world, as she called it, always venturing further than her heart had called 'home' - a little clearing, something that could barely pass as a clearing, but housed many families, that constantly grew and morphed into other families, much to her changrin.

But she was still half a day's walk from where that place was, enjoying the wind and just taking in the familiar scenary - it was always good to come back here, it always sang of promise and good days. This is where she would start teaching her siblings about friends, family, feelings and freedom ... okay and travelling but it didn't start with F. As a gust of wind blew through her and the grass under her feet, she dawned on a realization.

Where DID that little colt GO?

"Teee~hhhssss, where did you go, munchkinnn?" She called out, turning around quickly, her eyebrows pinned high as she scanned the landscape. This'll give her a headache, wouldn't it?

Quote:

While Tal was enjoying herself in a frantic glee, Dante was busy acting somewhat zen and relaxed. His eyes glided back and forth at the charming atmosphere, and his nose sniffled a bit from the opening buds. So much had happened this past winter.. so much that he didn't even know where to start! Despite that reality, things were good, so Dante was good. What brought change in his life was somewhat peaceful, and it seemed his father was taking a turn for the better. Dante wouldn't believe it until he saw it for himself, though. And he also avoided any hint or signs of him when possible, still.

Much to the stallion's surprise, he found himself naturally halting in an instant, since something strange had invaded his stride and space. A colt of all things was bouncing towards him, and Dante wasn't sure how to react. The random colt was frighteningly familiar to Dante, and he only blinked for a moment as the two males stood face to face from one another. At first Dante thought the colt was going to ram into him or something, but apparently he had stopped just quickly as Dante had! Maybe Dante was scary looking... as if the colt had room to talk, he was definitely a sight himself! It reminded him of... "Um, hello?" he then said, while realizing he was terrible with children. This was SO not his thing.

What Do You See?
[ Horses: Jack-B-Nimble / Tess / Flip ]
[ Rest is Here! ]

[ Status - In Progress. ]

Quote:
The world was so much bigger than Flip had ever imagined. Already any memory of the inside of the basket was beginning to leak away - he could still see the weave and the tiny pinpricks of light that made their way through in spots, if he thought hard, but unless he tried he was sure he'd forget later on. The world was so huge, and his memory was so small in comparison...

The foal bent his head down to sniff at the grass, then sneezed. A noise in the bushes startled him, and he cantered quickly away, bursting through another bush in a spray of morning dew. "Da! Tess! Where you is?" he called out, feeling - not afraid, but maybe slightly intimidated. Slightly.

Quote:
Tess was, infact, very close to his brother, enjoying the world around him. It was something he was finally getting his hooves into, having only being out of his little enclosed basket for only a few days. The world was so vast, there was so much to see, it was.. it was huge! And best of all, there was not roof. This enticed Tess greatly, the whole idea of a world where when you looked up, you were welcomed with a beautiful view, with those little clouds floating around the sky, making designs up in his head; what would this be this time? A rabbit? A cat? Maybe one would look like his father. All this was very ove neutral rwhelming.

Jack, on the other hand, was only a few steps away from the black little colt who was enthralled by the sky once more, his green eyes watching the clearing with such intensity and seriousness as a father was. A good excuse, he had, with two colts making friends with the thing called life, and the outside - it was a mystical time of life, he thought, this being his second time to view it. This was much less hectic, than their eldest sibling; Talullah. She was hell in a handbasket.

Hearing the somewhat audible meek voice that was held by his youngest son, Flip, the dark teal child that reminded him of his .. um, partner? Whatever it was, he wanted to know why for the slightly urgency in his voice. "Flip, we're right here, follow my voiccsss~e" he called out, his last word holding due to his S 'Slur', taking a few steps forward, searching his son out.

A Thoughtful Afternoon.
[ Horses: Yvette / Shen ]
[ Rest is Here! ]

[ Status - In Progress. ]

Quote:
The little golden foal had managed to wander away from his pestilent family and had taken to exploring the surroundings on his own. It was a rather lovely spring afternoon. There was a nice break from the recent rains, and the grass was nice and springy.

He had no specific destination in mind. He figured he would just wander around, and see where he ended up. That was how he usually got places. But now he didn't have his mother following him around, and his brother wasn't buzzing in his ear.

He sighed and stopped under a tree where a bird was leaning over its nest, apparently feeding its squealing young. He sometimes wished his mother was more nourishing. It seemed as though she didn't want him around most times. Almost as though she wished she never became a mother. But he couldn't do anything about it. He needed her, and he took what he could get.

Quote:
Yvette loved the spring; it was full of life and everything good and calming. He was not the kind of soquili that burst out into a run whenever they could during this season; he loved to just... soak in the surroundings and just enjoy everything that had to do with life.

Currently he had his head in some flowers. Well, no, not exactly, he was enjoying the colours and the scents that he could pick up, the blues and golds so much different from his bright red, dark black parts of his pelt, green eyes dancing around the ground. He was much different emotionally, than how he looked, he was told.

Hearing the sound of another living being within his area, he lifted his head to peer around, catching sight of a colt meandering around him. Smiling broadly, he turned his body towards the little one, his curled tail swishing back and forth slowly. "Hello over there, care to have some company?"

Going down in Flames.
[ Horses: Shecil Daemon / Pyralis ]
[ Rest is Here! ]

[ Status - In Progress. ]

Quote:
Inspiration came to her at the strangest of times. Sometimes, in the dead of night, Pyralis would have a flash of intuition, that told her that just around the corner, there was something dark lurking. Something that would surely want a piece of her white, alabaster flesh. Those things usually took her for granted, associating silvery horns and cloven hooves with weakness. They were far off their mark. The fiery eyes, hair, tail, and front hooves should've given her away, but apparently the resident Skinwalkers and Kalona required a little more evidence of asskickery, for not only did that not do it, the armor she wore did not seem at all to take away from her 'helpless' appearance.

Pah. If they were that foolish, they deserved the beatings they got. Certainly, not every fight she had was a good one, and not every Skinwalker or Kalona was a fool, but there were enough that it made a difference. She'd walked away from every fight, even if it had meant limping. The convenient aspect of her nature was that she could, as a unicorn, heal herself. And it was pretty damn convenient. Just this second, though, she wasn't looking for those particular instincts to flare up. No, so soon after running across signs of her sisters, she wanted more than a hint that they were about. Strangely, and despite the rather gaping differences between them, she missed them. At the very least, they gave her something to pit herself against, if only in the arena of argumentation.

It was enough, more than enough for her. Drinking in the moonlight, she padded softly across the grass that lay between herself and a secluded, half-hidden pool, lowering her head to drink. She was not daunted by the trees that provided shelter for this remote spring, nor was she unnerved by the hanging moss that accompanied those trees. When had shrubbery ever bothered her? It was her sister Naviah who jumped at any sign of ghosts, be they real or imaginary. Or was it jumping, really? Was it that she was frightened, or did she simply believe that everything around her was dead? The darkness provided no answers, nor did the gentle babbling of the spring as the water flowed over a handful of rocks into a narrow stream that disappeared into the trees beyond. Typical.

Quote:
Not too far away from where the mare had taken rest for the time being, the sound of space displacing itself could be heard a few feet from what appeared to be a hole in the world. After a few seconds of nearly nothing, a figure stepped away from the hole, allowing it to sink back into reality, leaving it's owner assuming he was alone in this hell of a clearing, fire flecked eyes taking a daring look around.

It had been almost a year since the Terror had met his demise in battle for the first time - to the damned Priest - a prison on this bloody nightmare of a world. It was so happy and joyous, and things were living in accordance and all that bullshit. He was tired of such a bright world, he wanted to go home - the hellhole he was born and raised in. Dark, dry and heavenly. He had started to wonder recently why the child that he was bound to hadn't grown yet. Was it a curse against him? Had the cold known he was damned to be youthful for his entire life? Bathed in the fountain of youth maybe?

He would end his 'son', if that came to it - feelings aside.

Shaking his head, he started taking a few steps forward to drink from the quiet pool that he had picked out that night. He needed time away from others - he needed to cool his head and just let it all out. As every step touched ground, the familiar sizzle of damp ground followed suit, his fires licking at the lush green ground, damning it from it's cool evening waters, leaving a temporary darn on it.

It was only until he lowered his head close to the waters that he realized that he was not alone in this clearing. Was his luck truly this terrible? Slowly raising his head to regard the flickering blue light that he could only catch on the edge of his vision, his frown deepened greatly, and fire flickered higher the more he stood still. Blue flame? A rarity, but it did not phase him terribly so.

"Show yourself, or I will make sure you dance out on singed hooves." he dared out - eyes peeled in the direction. What would dare pass him this night, did they wish to die? His mood darkened with every passing moment.

Muse and Moth.
[ Horses: Cavil / Kaishara Immareska ]
[ Rest is Here! ]

[ Status - In Progress. ]

Quote:

It was late in the day as Kaishara Immareska de la Phantom, Kai to most, wandered away from her father's protective gaze. A melody stirring in her chest, she picked up a gentle trot and let it ring free, not caring who might hear in the woods around her.
"Child of the wilderness, Born into emptiness
Learn to be lonely, Learn to find your way in darkness.
Who will be there for you, Comfort and care for you
Learn to be lonely, Learn to be your one companion
Never dreamed out in the world, There are arms to hold you
You’ve always known your heart was on its own.
So laugh in your loneliness, Child of the wilderness
Learn to Be lonely, Learn how to love life that is lived alone
Learn to be lonely...
Life can be lived life can be loved alone."

She dropped her head with a dainty arch of her neck, her strides light as the music of her heart faded back to her almost constant humming. She folded away her song, moving deeper amongst the trees. Where to go?

Quote:
In fact, there had been one close enough to hear the sweet sound of a new song being thrown into the wind, given life to expand and grow. The other soul that night had been floating around the night sky on blazing orange wings, his eyes filled with their usual curiousity, as the flickered between everything that they could see in the evening light.

It had come like a dream, a sudden strong voice singing out into the night time air, which halted the flutter's adventure for answers about life. Turning his warm, autumn-shaded eyes down, he caught sight of a bit of movement around the ground near the thicker tree line - and without thinking twice, swooped down to land.

After his hooves hit the ground, Cavil took toward the entrance of the wooded area, his large wings fluttering once or twice in order to rest after the journey. With a soft glance, he dared to attempt to call out the mysterious voice. ".. Hello? Are you still there~?"

Zippy-do-sis.
[ Horses: Keegan / Viral ]
[ Rest is Here! ]

[ Status - In Progress. ]

Quote:
It was a rather quiet night, all the forest was still and sleeping, or at least preparing to sleep. Birds had ceased chirping replaced by the gentle sounds of night, crickets and bugs taking up the task of making a new song.

Of course all of this would be interrupted by a strange series of steps, by all means a rather awkward sounding strut. It wasn't that of a normal four legged beast it seemed. A skip a step a hop and skip, step then hop once more, all the while zig-zagging its way through the woods.

By all means the Soquili in question was no lame creature, if anything this strange step was sure signs that it was in fine shape! And so it continued, skip, step, hop, this time interrupted by a fluttering of wings to drive the bugs away before carrying on.

Viral was no normal mare, or rather, maybe she was she just didn't like it so she chose to be a bit more eccentric then others when it came to getting around? Still, no purpose in mind she continued to roam skipping, stepping and hopping, all along the way.

Quote:
It was such a lovely night! The moon had decided to show itself that night, coating everything with such a heavenly blue glow. Everything was such a different look in the moon light - even behind red-tinted sunglasses - that only made it such a gorgeous purple! The lake? It looked like such a lovely place to drink! A magical pool of life, could it be a spell? And those crickets! What a lovely tune, it was as if they were singing a theme for this perfect night.

"Good EVENING, my little friends!" Suddenly sang out, as exploding from a underbrush, Keegan rejoiced happily under the Lady Moon, her smile almost splitting her maw in half. Her dark, magma coloured wings out and proud - feeling the wisps of wind through them after a good fly through such a lovely night. Keegan's voice was as large as her heart was, and travelled great distances.

What returned to her though, made her canter her head - it had become very silent around her - had she scared the song off? Fluffing her wings and curling them once again on her back, she perked her ears and looked around, hoping for a reply.

The ... Patriarch ...?
[ Horses: Jack-B-Nimble / Ampheres ]
[ Rest is Here! ]

[ Status - In Progress. ]

Quote:
They were not the only ones of their kind in the world.

True, Rapture was apparently a unique creature, and her heritage was unknown to all of them, including Rapture herself - but Flip had a mother, a father, siblings. A family.

Ampheres had never met them. But his sire was certainly acceptable, a worthy protector and mate for his mother (if a bit passive, to Ampheres' mind). Flip's family was large, and it might be that among them might be others of similar mind.

A black unicorn, carrying a green glow, decked in fripperies, with a face like ours. That strange curl of the lip and set of the jaw that the three stallions shared; not something from Rapture's side of the family. Ampheres knew what to look for.

Now he just had to find it.

Him.

Quote:
He was living a full life.

It hadn't been long since he was told by his son that he would become a grandfather himself, another step down the biological stairwell that his family was becoming. Wasn't it just yesterday that the same son had been telling him that he was to be a father? Or that same son taking his few first steps? Precious memories kept in the fold of time.

Jack was starting to feel old.

Ultimately, Jack decided that it was an over all good feeling to have spawned children and become one in the ranks of fatherhood - original frets about his cursed fate folding away into the abyss of his thoughts. As he thought about this, he wandered further and further down a beaten path, his head lower to the ground as he watched the grasses flow past him, burnt coloured leaves fallen under his bright hooves.

Another fall was floating onto his life; what would this winter's snow bring the Wintermute? As he lifted his head to regard his location, Jack breathed in a new scent - one that seemed both familiar, and sparked and crackled with new life. taking to his steps, he followed it carefully, wondering what it would bring him too, the sound of his jewelry constantly betraying his location.
