Inspiration came to her at the strangest of times. Sometimes, in the dead of night, Pyralis would have a flash of intuition, that told her that just around the corner, there was something dark lurking. Something that would surely want a piece of her white, alabaster flesh. Those things usually took her for granted, associating silvery horns and cloven hooves with weakness. They were far off their mark. The fiery eyes, hair, tail, and front hooves should've given her away, but apparently the resident Skinwalkers and Kalona required a little more evidence of asskickery, for not only did that not do it, the armor she wore did not seem at all to take away from her 'helpless' appearance.

Pah. If they were that foolish, they deserved the beatings they got. Certainly, not every fight she had was a good one, and not every Skinwalker or Kalona was a fool, but there were enough that it made a difference. She'd walked away from every fight, even if it had meant limping. The convenient aspect of her nature was that she could, as a unicorn, heal herself. And it was pretty damn convenient. Just this second, though, she wasn't looking for those particular instincts to flare up. No, so soon after running across signs of her sisters, she wanted more than a hint that they were about. Strangely, and despite the rather gaping differences between them, she missed them. At the very least, they gave her something to pit herself against, if only in the arena of argumentation.

It was enough, more than enough for her. Drinking in the moonlight, she padded softly across the grass that lay between herself and a secluded, half-hidden pool, lowering her head to drink. She was not daunted by the trees that provided shelter for this remote spring, nor was she unnerved by the hanging moss that accompanied those trees. When had shrubbery ever bothered her? It was her sister Naviah who jumped at any sign of ghosts, be they real or imaginary. Or was it jumping, really? Was it that she was frightened, or did she simply believe that everything around her was dead? The darkness provided no answers, nor did the gentle babbling of the spring as the water flowed over a handful of rocks into a narrow stream that disappeared into the trees beyond. Typical.

Not too far away from where the mare had taken rest for the time being, the sound of space displacing itself could be heard a few feet from what appeared to be a hole in the world. After a few seconds of nearly nothing, a figure stepped away from the hole, allowing it to sink back into reality, leaving it's owner assuming he was alone in this hell of a clearing, fire flecked eyes taking a daring look around.

It had been almost a year since the Terror had met his demise in battle for the first time - to the damned Priest - a prison on this bloody nightmare of a world. It was so happy and joyous, and things were living in accordance and all that bullshit. He was tired of such a bright world, he wanted to go home - the hellhole he was born and raised in. Dark, dry and heavenly. He had started to wonder recently why the child that he was bound to hadn't grown yet. Was it a curse against him? Had the cold known he was damned to be youthful for his entire life? Bathed in the fountain of youth maybe?

He would end his 'son', if that came to it - feelings aside.

Shaking his head, he started taking a few steps forward to drink from the quiet pool that he had picked out that night. He needed time away from others - he needed to cool his head and just let it all out. As every step touched ground, the familiar sizzle of damp ground followed suit, his fires licking at the lush green ground, damning it from it's cool evening waters, leaving a temporary darn on it.

It was only until he lowered his head close to the waters that he realized that he was not alone in this clearing. Was his luck truly this terrible? Slowly raising his head to regard the flickering blue light that he could only catch on the edge of his vision, his frown deepened greatly, and fire flickered higher the more he stood still. Blue flame? A rarity, but it did not phase him terribly so.

"Show yourself, or I will make sure you dance out on singed hooves." he dared out - eyes peeled in the direction. What would dare pass him this night, did they wish to die? His mood darkened with every passing moment.

"You're a little late with that," Pyralis remarked dryly, stepping out from under the embrace of the tree branches above her. She shook out her mane, the glow of the blue fire lighting up the night and reflecting on the surface of the water. Then she glanced up, and her eyes met those of a stallion who seemed almost entirely composed of fire. She froze, the clink of metal against metal ceasing as she came to a halt some distance from him. How unexpected.

She had heard of nightmares, that there were stallions and mares with flaming hooves... but this, this she had not heard of. His hair, eyes, and hooves were aflame, just as hers were. Did that imply that perhaps there was more to her than she had previously understood? Was there, perhaps, a race or a breed attached to her appearance? But surely not. It was a coincidence only. After all, he was no unicorn. No unicorn at all.

"As you can see, I am already on fire." He looked like a challenge, someone who was very likely not to accept her on face value, and in fact inclined to drive her away. She understood that, respected it even. She wasn't overly fond of other Soquili as a general rule. She didn't enjoy their company, or their incessant attempts at making her as blissfully happy with the tiresome herd life as they all seemed to be.

All of them except, of course, her sisters. Her family. There might even be others, still, but if so she hadn't met a single one of them yet. There'd been that prissy, cocky stallion who believed that he was the gods' gift to mares. Oh, how wrong he was. How utterly, utterly wrong. That was usually the case with such arrogant sots. They had a tendency to be anything but what they claimed to be.

Really, this new approach (that of threatening her almost immediately) was infinitely preferable to the platitudes and simpering sweetness of the others in general. Infinitely. Naturally, he probably had no idea of that, and thought himself to be very fearsome indeed. She couldn't begin to say how very much she disagreed with that notion. Appearances be damned, she wasn't afraid of a little fire.
