The two arrived not long after, with Cherish hopping off Trey's lap and curiously following along, occasionally getting distracted by the need to bat at loose cords and such hanging off of people's clothes and baggage. Trey was more focused on his other pokemon, though. Shade seemed to be listening a little better now, at least, though it still hadn't evolved. Carona had done spectacularly, but they still needed a little more practice before they could start pulling combos regularly. And then there were all these new pokemon. Could he really expect any of them to listen to him or JR? The latter was certainly more qualified as far as being a trainer went but... they didn't know them. And the Zorua was sleeping all the time. The zubat and Breloom hadn't even met them.... and they didn't really have a way to properly communicate with all of them. How were they going to sort all of this out....

Trey sighed and pressed his fingers to his temples, closing his eyes a moment as he walked. This was such a mess... "You worry way too much." He jerked his head up and shot a side look at JR, who was casually tossing a pokeball, and looking at him out of the corner of his eye. The teen's eyes narrowed immediately, staring at the pokeball. That definitely wasn't his Wigglytuffs... He looked down, then shot a glare when it was confirmed-- that was one of his. "Oh relax, it's just one of the abandoned pokemon. But I was thinking, we've done plenty of your contest business. It wouldn't hurt to let me use them, and maybe some of yours, for a few battles, would it? It could stretch their legs, maybe get that... fluff ball of yours to evolve, hm?" he suggested, as they headed out of the city, and towards the large, looming forest ahead.

They made it to Castelia City in record time, (which was maybe good?) It certainly gave them time to take on the gym, a thought that Reese had been considering the entire trek here and was something he wanted to get out of the way as soon as possible.
He had a few errands to run first though. Reese bee-lined it for the shopping center (after staring at a city map for a good twenty minutes) and for probably the what… third or fourth time in his life, made some legitimate purchases. It was just a bit too soon to be shoplifting again, though with how big this place was, he imagined he could easily get away with it. Still, he needed just a few of the trinkets that were available, and there was a time and a place to bring attention to one’s self.
Now was not the time.
Once he’d made his purchases, the group was back outside and Jaxston watched as his trainer produced one of the pokeballs from his belt unleashing for the first time since that dreadful second gym, a rather annoyed looking Ginger.
"Yo Gin- ACK," Reese gave a yelp as the Gengar immediately slipped into his shadow and did something that Jaxston couldn’t make out. The young man twitched and growled, managing to raise a foot and slam it down the shadow. Ginger immediately popped out, grin on her face once more as she snickered.
Reese started but gave up midway through the sentence. He deserved that just a bit, but not all the way. "Here, a gift. Should help you not pound sand this time," he commented, handing the glittering heart scales over. Ginger stared at them curiously, snatching them up and crushing them as if inherently aware of what to do. She took a quick whiff of the glitter dust from the air, standing still and then revealing a massive grin after a minute had passed.
Reese had already pulled out his pokedex to confirm what had happened, leaving Jaxston with only the vaguest of clues on what had happened. He gave his own smirk, tucked the device back and got back to his feet. "Great, though I got one more thing, for both of you," he jerked his head at Jaxston to come over, fishing out a few more items. He handed the pair the last of the candies at his disposal along with a wrist band for Ginger to wear. She stared at the tacky looking thing, before slipping it on and flailing her arm in the air, consuming the candies with her other hand. Jaxston stared at her then the treats and followed suit, immediately feeling himself grow just a bit stronger. These candies were good, that was something.
The young man watched the pair with a narrowed look before finally nodding his head and turning to walk. "Alright then, we’re going to burn the next gym down. You get me?" Jaxston blinked. Come again?

Reese had mixed feelings about themed gyms. On one hand, they could be pretty cool and an accurate expression of a gym leader’s creative side. On the other hand, they could be frustrating to traverse and gaudy AF, which made him feel more like burning them down than appreciating them,
He was feeling a lot like the later with Burgh’s gym. It took him a bit to figure out that the damn place was shaped like honeycombs, like what you’d find in Combee colonies or something. And some of the walls were sticky. Like, there was authentic and then there was authentic and all this? Well it was too much like the later. Quixote had gone and run through one of the honey walls and was now a damn sticky mess that Reese found himself carrying.
Gross.
By the time they reached the challenger’s field, he’d given up on keeping his coat from sticking to his shirt, Quixote, his hair, whatever. And to think, he’d just changed his clothes. Awesome, it was a really good week for him apparently. Reese growled at a nearby gym trainer (who was dressed like a clown, what the hell) that he was here for a battle and waited impatiently until the man of the hour finally arrived, concealing himself in what appeared to be a sort of silk cloak. He stepped up to the other side of the arena, before in a flourish tossing the cloak from his shoulders, arms stretched out wide. ”A-ha! Welcome dear trainer! I see you’ve scurried your way here for a challenge? My bugs would be delighted, but don’t expect them to be squashed so easily! Let us paint a beautiful battle scene!” Burgh announced. Reese’s lower left eyelid gave a bit of a twitch.
Oh yeah, he was definitely going to ‘accidentally’ burn this place down.

That fight had gone far better than the last one and for that, Reese could be appreciative. Not too much though, because Burgh was still flippant and just...grating his nerves. Still very much considering starting an ‘accident’ as he left, the young man simply snatched his winnings from the gym leader and shoved them away, not even saying a “thank you” or even a “screw off” as he gave Ginger and Jaxston a head jerk to follow, Quixote cheering and clapping his hands together excitedly despite now being tucked under his trainer’s arm.
Jaxston didn’t get it and Ginger just giggled, both tailing after their trainer. They made their way through the terrible maze (maybe had Reese stuck around and had some manners, they might have been offered an easier way out), finally returning to the street side. Down the sidewalk and to the Pokemon center, once more he dropped of the pair to the care of the local Nurse Joy for well-deserved healing. And in the meantime… he went to go get himself a shower.

As soon as they landed in Castelia, Judal shook himself, sand falling from his feathers in a pile on the street as he continued to preen himself. Cyrus was doing his own equivalent of the same action, disgusted with how much sand was stuck to him. He paused in his endeavors just long enough to return the large bird to his ball before deciding the only way to get rid of all this sand was to go take a proper bath. Grumbling, Cyrus made his way back to a hotel to get himself a room.
Once in his room, he set his belongings aside, opening the mini fridge to pull out a bottle of water. As he chugged the water, he cast a glare in the Mesprit's direction. The legendary merely smiled, floating there. "Don't ******** follow me." he growled, then started towards the bathroom to wash off. "I wouldn't dream of it." Spirit chimed, earning a disgruntled groan from the man as he shut the door.
No, what Spirit was more interested in was actually Cy's belongings. Specifically his communicator. Not that the legendary would notice there was something missing in the device, but there was a lack of a certain pokemon. The Porygon2 called Virus seemed to have up and left. Not even a trace left of the perverse program. If the Egyptian found out, he'd be both relieved and pissed off. Perhaps it had gotten tired of belonging to Cyrus after all, leaving during the time that was spent in the desert.
That aside, now that Spirit had Cy's communicator in hand, he inspected the device, looking through the contacts and messages. There were a few contacts with vulgar names, but there was that one name he was looking for. Apollo Corsini. Interesting how this was the only actual name saved into his device. Spirit settled on the bed as he read through messages, seeing all the missed messages and calls from Apollo. "Perhaps just some feelings of betrayal that need to get fixed.... I can work with this." he commented to himself. Now the question was, should he respond in Cyrus' stead, or should he get the man to do it himself? Spirit had been observing the anger filled shortstack for a while but... well, he didn't quite know his manner of speaking towards this Apollo. It might seem too unnatural if he did it himself.
Cyrus, meanwhile, was scrubbing away the sand in frustration. This sucked. Not just having sand everywhere, but to have his feelings compromised by a pokemon, completely against his will. There was a reason he buried that, and it should be left alone. It's not like he ever had an actual chance with his only friend, and he had worked so hard to accept it at that. That damn Mesprit was causing him to feel guilt over it. It took quite a bit before Cyrus was sure he was free of sand, drying off before wrapping a towel around his waist. He'd have to send his clothes to get washed in the meantime.
As he left the bathroom, he was greeted by Spirit floating beside him at the door. Cyrus gave a reproachful look to the legendary, keeping his distance. "No need to be so distrustful~" Spirit chimed. The legendary had left the communicator on the bed as he waited for Cyrus to get out. "Yeah ******** right. All you psychics are the same." he scoffed, throwing his clothes in the hotel laundry bag, noting down the contents and how to wash them before setting it by the inside of the door, pressing the call button to pick up laundry. Spirit took no offense, following the cream haired individual about the room.
"You should reply to your friend. He seemed really concerned." the Mesprit spoke up as Cyrus made his way back over to the bed. "Why the ******** were you even in my phone?" Cyrus growled, going over to his phone and checking it out. Initially, he didn't notice the absence of a certain pokemon that tended to inhabit his phone. All he was was relieved when he saw that Mesprit seemed to have only read the messages. The last thing he needed was that ******** psychic messing with his affairs. "I was bored, and you told me not to follow so..." Cyrus glared over at the legendary that was now hanging in the air above his head.
Annoying Mesprit aside, he felt his gut sink as he saw the missed messages. While he knew he owed Apollo a text at the very least, his insides knotted up at the thought of replying to him. He didn't deserve this guy's concern or attention, especially after what he had done. As a soft hand touched his creamy hair, Cyrus choked back a curse at Spirit. Having a Mesprit around was starting to get to be a huge problem for him. Thanks to the fresh surge of emotions that it was pressing upon him, he had come to the decision to reply, fingers tapping away at the screen.

Cyrus set his communicator aside, moving to the mini fridge once again for another bottle of cold water. He sipped deeply this time as he returned to his bed, setting it down on the night stand. Spirit was still not that satisfied with the text, but made no move to try and push the subject. The Egyptian seemed extremely tired, after all. It wouldn't hurt to rest for now. Unaware that he had the legend's unspoken approval, Cyrus flopped down on the bed with a grunt, settling into the bed and falling asleep rather quickly.

Having finally made his way out of the gym and down to the pokemon center to get his team healed up, Reese was back outside and, on the road, again. At this point, he wasn’t sure exactly what he wanted to do next. The gym scene and training were getting monotonous and a little boring. He also was certain his team wasn’t ready to take down the next gym anyways.
Where was it, Nimbasa that he’d have to go too? That was a trek through the deserts if he recalled correctly and he was not about to deal with sand and heat. Ugh.
Honestly? He was beginning to feel a bit antsy. It’d been a while since he’d done anything he considered ‘fun’ and the worth his time. Fidgeting with the aglet of his hoodie drawstring, the young man took in his surroundings. His mind wandered to the fair and what had happened and immediately a light went off in his head.
He knew what he could do.
A bit of a sly smirk crossed his face. Of course, there were no contest halls in Unova. Which was probably a blessing and a curse. He glanced to Jaxston and Ginger, who had been tailing him this entire time. "C’mon you two, we need to catch a boat," he said, head jerking as he picked up his pace. Jaxston gave Ginger a confused look; where were they going? Ginger just shrugged, though her cheeky grin didn’t disappear as she melted into her trainer’s shadow for a free ride. The Servine wasn’t sure if he was supposed to feel concerned or not. Oh boy…
Reese settled into the way back of the train, next to one of the windows with Jaxston, Ginger, and Quixote taking up space in the seat next to him. The young man opted to stare out at the terrain outside as the announcements went off overhead and the train slowly began to chug into motion. Despite the glee he was feeling inside about his upcoming plans, he was feeling just a tad bit sleepy. He supposed if there was ever a time to take a nap it was now. If there were any wild pokemon that were tempted to attack in those woods, Trey didn't notice. More than likely, JR's wigglytuff had done a good job scaring them away, while the two walked in silence. Personally, Trey was still wrapped up in his own thoughts, though the occasional glance to his companion gave away some of the nature of them. Their whole situation was due to him having caught JR in the act of trying to steal something, and admittedly, that hadn't exactly given him the best impression on the man's abilities. It was probably why he didn't take him all that seriously beyond being an extra body to translate and give a bit of extra protection for him. But JR had shown, on a few occasions, an ability to disappear and manipulate in the most unnoticeable ways, and it was a subtle reminder that Trey really had no idea what all he was capable of. For all he knew, the man was a fully trained assassin...

Whether JR had ever killed someone or not was one of those things Trey had probably very intentionally never considered, or hadn't let linger on his mind, and this was no exception. It was one of those things that he didn't want to determine his own opinion on-- it just wasn't worth thinking about, in his mind -- especially if it was an unknown. Still... knowing they were in this city for JR's work was... making it a little harder to really ignore the possibilities of what all he might be doing here.
Trey came to a stop when, suddenly, the older man extended an expectant hand before him, and furrowed his brow as he looked at it. He lifted his head, giving him a questioning look. "Your pokemon. I need to go defeat the gym," he replied simply. Trevor's brow dropped, and he continued to stare, earning a lofty roll of light blue eyes from JR. "The Zubat and fying bug should be good," he clarified. Trey narrowed his eyes. "Carona doesn't foight," he stated flatly, heavily landing the zubat's pokeball into JR's hand. Didn't they already have discussion? Or maybe he just thought it was obvious. Again, JR rolled his eyes, but put the pokeball away. "Alright, your fox, then. The cute one. It should be able to hold its own," he decided.
Trey shifted, looking away, but eventually handed over Cherish's pokeball as well. He really hated doing that...
With a lingering look, JR turned, before finally walking away, deeper into the city. Trey frowned after him, and glanced up at the sky. It was getting dark.... Sighing, he headed for the pokecenter, which, thankfully, was fairly close to the entrance into the city from where they had come. It had been a long day of travel, and while JR went to do his battle, Trey was going to get some food, and grab a room.

Cyrus woke with a jump, flailing and shouting. He sat up real quick, catching his breathe and looking around in panic. This was definitely the hotel room he remembered. As if he had sensed his trainer's distress, Sinbad was already halfway on the bed, sniffing in his direction to check on him. Another look around told Cy that that damn mesprit was asleep on the chair by the window. Or so it seemed. He released a heavy sigh and flopped back down on the bed. Maybe he could manage to get some actual sleep now without waking up in the dream world. He didn't even bother shoving the pyroar off as it settled down on the bed beside him.

Arceus Trey needed to work on his pokemon. Or JR needed to round up more of his and start battling for his own desire, instead of trying to hammer it out of the false mute's dancer pokemon. And Wesley.... The two walked out, glaring at each other, and JR rolled his eyes after a long, good competition that lasted the entire way to the pokecenter. "Oh don't give me that look," he replied back, "You would have been fine if you'd just listened." Wesley puffed out his cheeks, and looked ready to strike as JR picked up the edgy wigglytuff to place him on the counter, but he didn't. The Nurse Joy was smiling nervously, either picking up on the tension between them, or, worrying over her own safety in front of this pokemon, here. JR handed over the pokeballs without so much as a smile of reassurance, while he checked his own communicator, and moved off to let her heal everyone.
It wasn't so much he was being harsh, as he just wasn't being attentive, or, didn't care enough to really do so. He was more preoccupied with how badly that battle had gone, and the fact that he actually did, in fact, have some business to attend to in this city. It was getting pretty close to needing to get to it, too... But, not so much so that he wouldn't go ahead and get some sleep, first.
He looked over as his pokemon were ready, and he flashed the Joy an appreciative smile, before grabbing the pokeballs, and letting Wesley jump down and follow on his own as he headed up to find Trey. He didn't really need to bother eating, considering he'd be up in a few hours to do his work, anyway.
"Your pokemon really do need to toughen up," he remarked as he walked into the room, having asked around to find out which one the mute had chosen, "Even if they're just doing contests, they should be able to defend you if something happened." He tossed the pokeballs onto Trey's bed, ignoring the suspicious look that all earned. "Ya mean so ya can use 'em for battles?" he replied back skeptically. JR rolled his eyes. "Why do you think I battle them?" he returned back, dropping onto the bed. Trey didn't buy it for a second. "Ta annoy me," he replied back flatly. JR had claimed it was for "fun" but if that was the case, why was he constantly complaining and criticizing them? JR shrugged, laying back. "So when are ya plannin' ta get this business takin' care of? I'd actually loik ta get back to my contests tha' ya keep makin' so much fun of," Trey spoke up, eying the other. Rarely did he actually perpetuate conversation, and JR raised an eyebrow at him, before giving another half raise of his shoulders.
"Tonight, don't worry about it. Should be done by morning," he replied, lacing his hands together behind his head, and closing his eyes. Trey sighed, but closed the magazine he'd been reading, and started getting ready for bed himself. At least he was almost back on track, then..... Or so he hoped, at least...

Reese shuttered awake, grunting and flopping a bit from the uncomfortable ball he’d curled up into while in the train seat. Where was he again? What felt like hours couldn’t have been more than a few minutes and soon the grogginess lifted just enough to allow him to remember what was going on.
He was on the train from Castelia to… well, that part he couldn’t remember. The whole dream situation had thrown him for a loop and his emotions were still running high. How stupid, it was just a dream; but then why had it felt so real? He shook it off, wiping a hand across his mouth to rub away the drool as he sat up. Quixote had crawled his way onto Reese’s lap. Jaxston was curled up in the space next to them and was slowly coming too as well. Ginger was currently nowhere to be seen.
Odd.
The Axew shifted and stretched his arms with a yawn, rolling over in Reese’s lap. The young man didn’t react much to it, glancing at his team before looking back out the window. He still felt… odd. Jilted and annoyed from the whole dream thing. Already he could feel the finer details beginning to fade, but the emotions were still there.
Yuck.
Reese shook his head and nestled into his jacket for comfort. Whatever, it would pass like all the rest of him. There was a plan he had and needed to focus on. He just… had to take a moment to remember it. They were on the train to get to the port, so he could catch a ride on a boat too…
Lillycove? Wow, why couldn’t he remember what he’d been up too just a little while before. It was strange and unnerving in a way. Oh well, that was where he was going. Reese was fortunate he’d dozed for just the right amount of time as the train started to pull to a stop, announcement ringing for passengers to unboard. Yeah, he’d be back into the swing of things in no time.
