"This has gone on long enough." It was always his style to move in undetected at the last minute, and now was no different. Amidst all the chaos that ensued between Soneko and his would-be son, Keno had entered the fray. He did nothing to stop Soneko. In fact, he decided to let him think that his punch connected by replacing Kenta's back with a hefty chunk of the ring in a near instantaneous exchange. Everything took place as Soneko would want, except that the helpless Kenta would be unharmed.
The water that spilled and rained down upon the ring didn't bother the feline one bit and he stood there in as much a stoic, dramatic way as he could, merely looking at Soneko with a pleasant, defiant smile on his face and fire in his eyes. He had no interest whatsoever in fighting, but he wasn't sure if this man knew him well enough to catch on to his many subtle signs of body language. Therefore, he decided he had better speak before he was on the receiving end of another one of those punches.
"I see you've met my runt. He's something else isn't he? Still a little wet behind the ears as you can see. What say we end this friendly competition with a drink." Seeing as Keno wasn't much for drinking, there was probably some other objective he had in mind, but he wasn't disclosing as much to anyone. At the same time, he wasn't particularly taking sides, but he knew a lost cause when he saw it, and prolonging this battle would be foolish.
"Or...if you want, you can continue..." he didn't seem too thrilled about offering this choice to either of them, but it was their choice as men to make their own decisions.

"Nice to meet you Carl." Hotaru replied then took the cup of sake and looked at it quizzically. She really wasn't well versed in alcohol which was natural for a seven year old. "Sake?" She sniffed it a little. "I have had...Whatever this is before." She looked up towards Carl. "Does it taste good?" It didn't cross her mind that it was alcohol since she had never met an adult that actually gave her some before.

"Dammit," he muttered under his breath, his fists trembling with rage as he sat kneeling, still in a crouching position beside KenoTao. At first he was shocked, then confused as everything happened in a giant fuzzy blur. One moment he was thinking that he would be severely injured, then the next he found himself inexplicably out of harm's way, only to discover that his worthless father had decided to call the match short without his or Soneko's consent. It was truly maddening in a way only Kenta could understand.
"Damn you, no one asked for your help! I didn't need you to get involved! What's your deal?" He could help but to shout, the only outlet he had against the man. All of his rage and frustration ultimately amounted to nothing and he knew it. He rose to his feet, eyes burning with a deep passion to rip KenoTao limb from bloody limb, just to teach him a lesson. It was completely unlike the sentiments he expressed against Soneko during their sparring match.
"If I wanted you to save me, I would have said something! Why don't you just stay out of my business? That's what you want anyway!" He grabbed the man he would learn to call 'father' by the collar of his shirt and pulled him up so that they were face to face. "Isn't it?!"

“Bitter, but not bad.” He lifted the jug up to his scarf, about where his mouth should be and took a swig. The end of the bottle faded into the scarf as he drank, and the haze blurred it to make her wonder if the liquid had actually gone through his scarf or something else…
Then he went quiet for a moment. “…What did you come to see them about?” Carl wasn’t really much for conversation or for random actions….. He was generally a lurker, so silence seemed to suit him best.
Then suddenly, his head turned to where the fight had been taking place. “I think your friend is here.”

From the moment his fist connected with something, he knew it wasn't flesh. As whatever he had hit crumbled away and he was caught up in his own attack, Soneko was shot backwards, though his body still remained upright through the air. His feet connected with the ground and he leaned himself forward as to not topple backwards. He skidded to a stop and looked up to see what had just gone on. And now a different person was standing in between Soneko and his opponent. That was one thing Soneko couldn't stand. Never get in the way of a leviathan and it's prey, he had once said. He looked at the man now standing not far from him, he remembered the face, and the name quickly followed. Keno, if he was correct. He'd seen the man before but had never conversed with him. He soon understood why the man had done what he did. His runt, huh? Whether it was out of fear for his son's safety or something else, Soneko wouldn't know. Under any other circumstance, Soneko would have laughed in the man's face, but as a request from a father about his son, he would oblige the man.
"That may be so, but you've done a good job at teaching him how to fight nonetheless. I think we've both made some of our skills known to eachother. That was the point of the match."
He wanted to carry on the fight. His entire body burned for it. But he was sure they would cross paths again. In all honestly, he wanted to challenge Keno, but he was in no condition. He got the feeling he'd need more to fight this guy than he needed to fight the young kitsune. And while he was arrogant, he knew better than to face a patron of the Orion in the shape he was in.
He was about to respond to the idea of a drink until the boy he was once facing in combat suddenly grabbed the man by his shirt. Such disrespect for his father. It was something Soneko couldn't understand. One of the few people Soneko had ever had a great respect for was his father. He couldn't even imagine speaking to his dad that way. Not out of fear, though he was sure his father would have put him in his place. At least back when he was alive. Had he been as skilled as he was now back when Koshinko was still alive, it would have been one hell of a match. That was neither here nor there. Interested in how it would turn out, he brought his attention back to the father and son who, as it seemed didn't have a very nice bond.

"Bitter?" Hotaru watched as he chugged the bottle. "Wow...To drink that much it must be good. I just came to visit them. I haven't seen them in a while." she commented then went to take a sip of her own little up when Carl said something about one of her friends being here. "Really?" she took the cup away from her lips and looked towards the hall leading towards the arena.

“Indeed.” Carl set the bottle back down on the table and got up from his seat. He left the bottle and cups there instead of returning them to their rightful places and started slowly towards the hallway, assuming the young girl would easily beat him there.
“Why don’t we see what he’s up to?”

Hotaru nodded and put the cup on the counter. "Sure!" She jumped down from her stool. She grinned and started to jog down the hall to meet Keno. She didn't know if it was Keno or Tac at the end of the hall but either person was fine with her. She was going to tackle them either way.

Keno answered Kenta with a calm, passive silence, merely looking at him blankly as he was held 'captive' but the collar. Somewhere deep down he was a bit entertained, but also a bit irritated. The boy just didn't get him, which was why he showed up in the first place, but he didn't seem to be trying too hard either. Almost every time the two met up, it resulted in an immediate fight, usually with a critique against Keno's character. He didn't really mind all that much since other people had more grounded reasons to be upset with him, but nevertheless, he never expected his own progeny to be so ungrateful.
"I assure you," Keno said, completely turning his attention away from Kenta and towards Soneko. "I had nothing to do with the boy's learning. He developed his skills elsewhere." Technically that wasn't a lie, but he didn't feel like the whole truth was worth telling. He merely meant to demonstrate that he was not threatened by his son's tantrum. If the boy truly wished to hit him, then much like Keno himself, he'd have done so by now. Furthermore, he desperately wanted Keno to confirm or deny something that he felt no inclination to respond to in one manner or another.
"I do commend you though on your abilities. We've seen each other time and again here at Orion, yet I don't recall ever speaking with you formally. Furthermore, I'm sure that was the first time I've seen you in action. You're far too good a fighter to hang out in the background you know. Perhaps I can entertain you a bit better when your arm repairs." He smiled courteously with a look of pure mischief in his eyes. Win or lose, fighting gave him a sort of high unparalleled by any sort of substance. If Soneko was as good as he thought, it would be fun throwing fists.
