History:
Hotaru has been a wanderer since she was six years old. Before she began her travels, she lived with her parents in a small hut on the outskirts of Barton Town. It was a fairly secluded place without pesky neighbors or the noise from the city. It was their own little forest with no one else around except for random animals. She was a happy child back then.
The girl never knew anything about her parents past. They never spoke about how they met, why they lived in a forest instead of the city, or what they did for money. Hell, she didn’t even know their names. She just called them” mom and dad”, like any other child. Of course, Hotaru never cared about that kind of information back then. All she cared about was playing with the wild bunnies that occasionally wandered into their yard.
They lived a very simple, yet peaceful lifestyle until that incident happened. The day started out like any other day; Hotaru would wake up wanting her mother to make pancakes and her dad would be gone to some random location. But that day was different. Throughout the day, her mother would look out the window as if she was searching for something. Hotaru thought it was strange, but it was Saturday morning and she had cartoons to watch.
Right when Sonic was about to beat up Egg Man, her mother rushed in and scooped the child up. Hotaru, being the child that she was, squirmed about while trying to see the battle on the tv. Unfortunately, she couldn’t see much else once her mother put her down into a trap door under the floor. She was told not to leave until someone came to get her. The child had never seen her mother like that, so she obeyed. Oh, look at that! A Gameboy hidden in the little space. Hotaru was content for a few hours, at least. That was the last time she ever saw her mother or father. To this day she does not know what happened to them.
Hotaru never knew this, but her parents were both assassins. Her father's name was Hei Minomi. He was an ice demon that specialized in ice based weapons. Her mother's name was Alexia Minomi. She was a human, but she was trained in marksmanship. When Hotaru was born, they decided to semi retire from that life. They only did enough to keep food on the table. It was actually Hei that did most of the jobs, though. Alexia usually stayed behind to look after Hotaru.
On the day they disappeared, they had received a tip that some of their old enemies were on their trail and heading for the hut. Not wanting to put Hotaru in danger, they hid and went out to take care of the threat before their home could be located. Unfortunately, they were not strong enough to survive that battle. Luckily, no one knew about Hotaru's existance, so no one bothered to look for their hut after her parents were killed. By the time the battle was over, Hotaru had drained the batteries in the game, so she emerged from the house and began to search for her parents. The only thing she found was the battle ground, but her parents were nowhere to be seen. All the child saw was broken trees and a few holes in the ground.
In search of her parents, the girl began to wander and eventually ended up in Barton Town. For years she survived off of the kindness of others. No one wanted to see such a young girl wandering by herself in a dangerous world like gaia. For years, the demon blood within her stayed dormant, so Hotaru always thought that she was sort of a weak little human. She needed to become strong so that she could find her parents.
When Hotaru was eight, she found herself being taken in by a village of kind people. Ironically, it was a village of assassins. Perhaps she was destined to go into that line of work. She quickly integrated herself into the village and trained there for three years. During her training, she noticed the power within her, but she couldn’t gain complete control over it. Over those three short years, the village began to shrink due to organizations popping up and stealing business. A village of assassins could not survive without jobs. Eventually, Hotaru decided to leave as well. She would train outside of that village and make a name for herself. Perhaps she would even find out what happened to her parents.
