"Oww," he said rubbing his arm and pretending to be hurt. Pouting again, his face shifted quickly from offended to devious as he reached out and began tickling Hotaru again, this time more ruthlessly than before.
"You're gonna pay for that," he said to her in a teasing voice, giving her just a moment to readjust herself before started up again. He didn't want to make a mess afterall.

Hotaru squirmed and laughed while trying to keep his hands from tickling her. When he stopped, she got out her last giggled then drank some more of her hot chocolate. "Hey guess what? I'm learning ice jutsu."

The girl continued to surprise him with new things it seemed. Ha had completely forgotten that she hadn't known any elemental jutsu the last time he had seen her, and if she did she wasn't all that skilled at them. In fact, he couldn't remember her knowing basic bushin no jutsu.
"When did you start learning that," he asked enthusiastically, half hoping she'd have mastered something, though not expecting it in the least. Since she was so young, it might take her much longer than a few weeks or even a few months to show a great deal of progress, but if she started out strong, things would definitely be in her favor after she matured.

"It was about two months ago after I learned the transformation and clone jutsu. So far I'm only really good at one of the ice jutsu. I can freeze the surface of a whole late in just one go! Right now I'm working on this jutsu where I can make daggers from big chunks of ice. Cool huh?" She smiled. She really come a long way in just a few months considering the fact that she didn't know the basic jutsu.

"Oh wow," he said in complete amazement at the child's accomplishments. He had no idea he had been gone so long. Or maybe it was just that Hotaru was able to progress very quickly. Perhaps she would turn out to be a prodigy in the long run. He'd be much more at ease knowing that ninjutsu came easily to her, but it would not completely eliminate the mental crutch of her youth in his mind.
"That is really cool," he said encouragingly as he moved yet again from his seat to the other side of the bar, rinsing his cup out and filling it up with water. "I want you to show me," he said as he held the glass of water in front of her and then turned it upside down so that its contents spilled out. Rather than hitting the counter and splashing everywhere, it seemed to fill up some invisible container midair until it was in the form of a liquid sphere right in front of the child. Keno just waited patiently for her to do whatever it was she could do.

Hotaru nodded. Freezing such a small amount of water was no problem for her. She put down her cup of coco then started to do some hand signs. "Fuusou Shugojin: Gyouko Souhou." She reached out and touched the water with her fingers. The water began to ice over from her fingers and was soon turned into solid ice.

"Wow, that's really cool," he said with high praise to Hotaru, eyes bright with pride and surprise. She really was gifted and she froze the water as though it were nothing. Looking past the sphere of ice to the creator, she smiled before taking the ball in his hand and placing it before her.
"Show me the ice sculpting thing if you can. It's okay if you can't do it right away." She said before hand that she was still working on it, but he still wanted to see how much progress she had made in this area as well.

Hotaru looked at the ice then nodded. "Okay. I can try." She replied then did a different arrange of hand seals. "Fuusou Shugojin: Ketatamashii Hi." She said then placed her hands over the ice. The ice glowed for a moment and then the ice began to break and chip off, leaving a single piece of ice that was in the general shape of a dagger. She still needed work on making the dagger sharper and more defined.

Off in the arena sat a crazy old man with a koala sitting on his head, rumaging through pages in a book a big as a small automobile, both in terms of page size and thickness. He was grumbling to himself, quite obviously annoyed about something in the book as he flipped through the pages like a madman.

"Hm."
He looked at the dagger like thing on the counter with delight, obviously aware of how sub par it was. Since it looked like a dagger though, he was thoroughly pleased with what Hotaru had managed. It wouldn't take much to handle the finishing touches of the technique.
"Very good job little one!" A few flicks of his wrist and the ice dagger floated slowly to the sink to melt. "You'll be a very skilled ninja in no time. Just keep it up okay?"

Hotaru smiled, happy that Keno was so proud of her progress. "I will! I train almost every day so I can be ready for the chuunin exams next year!" She said happily.
