"Yeah! Y'looked like you needed something to distract you. Dunno why, but I thought I could help anyway." Bo rattled the bracelet he had picked up for himself at the same time as the grimm's necklace. "Wanna come walk around?"
The prospect of walking around in these crowds seemed overwhelming, but Ayuu found zemself nodding in response to this chipper geist. Ze wasn't quite sure what ze had to be afraid of, but the unknown threat seemed less ominous with zir new acquaintance by zir side.
"Yes. Thank you," the grimm said with a grateful smile. "My name is Ayuu."
"That'll be fuuuuun!" Ashworth drawled. Shef honestly couldn't understand how the imp couldn't see just how uncomfortable he was, but thankfully someone called her away just then, leaving him legitimately smiling for the first time since he had arrived.
They said their goodbyes, and then the hybrid was alone.
The chimera ended up lingering by the books longer than she intended and another book caught her eye. The familiar seemed content with gnawing on its chew toy to bother her.

Verve wryly smiled and shook her head, "Whaddya sayin' sorry for? You're not my parents, unless you got some mad skills with the glamour." The chimera then made a face at the smushed snowball, "Don't put any of this down my back," she warned, all grins, holding onto one snowball herself as a means of retaliation.

As Charmstar and his caretaker reached the exit of the festival, a jelly floated on over to him. The fallen let out a startled squeal and hid behind his caretaker's legs, and was only coaxed back out with a bag of candy.
---------------
Amihand was flying overhead, to avoid the crowd when an over-sized lollipop caught her eye. She normally didn't have a sweet tooth but menthol candies had a special place in her heart. So she landed and got one, but as she pulled the candy out of her familiar's reach, she felt something nudging her from the other side. And a skyfish was there, staring at her expectantly.

Ah, the Winter Solstice Festival. Guereda was not one much for returning to their old stomping grounds to visit the festivals. They had enjoyed them as a child, but...now they were an adult. They had work to do, and adult matters, and homework and classes, and...a child now. Guereda smiled. It had been a few years now since the frantic awakening of their first child, who was even now attending the Academy in the same house as Reda themselves had attended. It was hard to describe how proud they were of their daughter. They held Evelyn's hand tight as they joined the crowds. "I'm going to be working at the book booth," they murmured to their daughter. "We'll leave at five o'clock to get dinner, then stay until seven. If you see any friends you'd like to spend time with, just let me know. Meet me back at the books at five though. Okay?" They set the stocking they had been handed at the beginning of the event beside their chair. They didn't want their daughter to see what sort of book they had just picked up from a stack. After all, the volunteers were allowed to take books as well. They had been told that at the orientation. Reda didn't want to take advantage of the hospitality, but they were entitled to a few books...
Evelyn nodded and gave her parent's hand a squeeze in return. "I promise I'll tell you if I have to go anywhere." She added a smile and hugged her parent. She didn't really think she was going to go far, but...well, Dada worried about her. She'd always worried about Evelyn. Secretly, Evey was worried about Dada, too. Dada worried about the way people thought about Evey. They'd been worried ever since Evey was a child that Evey would be taken away from them. Evey had never heard of something like that happening, and their teachers had never brought them aside to talk to them about it. But it was enough of a worry that she was under strict orders never to admit to being Dada's biological child. Evey...well...Evey didn't like that. Not one bit. She liked being Dada's daughter. She loved Dada. She just wished...she wished her parent could be more...calm? Less worried. Evey hugged her parent and offered them a candy cane from a bundle one of the other volunteers had handed her.
Dada shook their head. "Not now. Maybe later, though."
Evey nodded and put the candy canes in her stocking. Something soft hit the back of her head. She turned around to see--a stuffed animal? A jackalope! So cute! She pushed it in her bag and looked around for the culprit.
A winter solstice festival? Well, that sounded...interesting...certainly something Lillian was willing to try out. She looked around the event and accepted a stocking. That was an Imp tradition, right? That was her general understanding of it, anyway. Certainly it was something the Imps had introduced to them. She'd heard about the festivals that the Academy liked to throw--mostly they were supposed to be games, but she heard that there were a lot of people who came to these events just to give out gifts, never mind about earning them. How did she feel about it? Lillian didn't know. She really didn't know. She sighed as she looked around, making her way towards a book stand. Maybe she could get a book? Maybe that would help her understand the surface world a little better...
Someone nearby shouted "INCOMING!" and there was a mass of feet running back and forth. A stuffed wolf came flying from the far side of the space to land right in front of Lilian. People surged out of the crowd. Panicking, Lillian pounded her tiny feet towards the soft animal and threw herself on top of it. "Don't hurt it!" she squeaked.
Older kids laughed. So did younger ones. One of the older ones slowed their rush and ruffled her hair. "Okay, sweetie. You can keep it." They handed her a lollipop.
Lillian blushed and picked herself back up. Okay, so she had a plushie, now? Why had she felt compelled to treat it like a person, though? She sighed and brushed it off. It was certainly pretty, at least... It was brown, like so many Grimms. She smiled and hugged it tight against her body. At least there were Grimms and Imps at the Academy...
"Another nice day to be at the Celebrations!" Ruddi smiles brightly with Gummi tagging along beside her. This time she managed to get Gummi off of the large plushie to get some excerise going for him. Don't want a stiff Revenant as a familiar. She left Snowi on her bed sleeping on what she knew would be her new golden kitty plush bed. They decide to walk past a few booths in hopes of something catching her or Gummi's eyes.
A kind Nightmare in their booth stops Ruddi and persuade her to answer some questions to get a prize. That intriged her to play the game. Luckliy it mostly academy trivia and managed to win an orange stocking with a book called 'A Solstice Song'. Ruddi remembers reading this book when she was younger. Gummi looks up at her and that made her smile thinking that maybe she'll read it to him tonight. Maybe tommorrow she'll win more books like this.
Well, it seemed Chries had found A Solstice Song, so that was... promising? Maybe? No... it was a bust. He probably just picked it up because of the holiday or something... He looked around while Chries browsed, and happened to catch the eye of a nearby person handing out bracelets. He got himself a nice red-and-gold one, then then turned back to Chries. Hm.
This could be a good gift... "Hey.. ...do you like bracelets..?" He held it up, realizing a little too late that the question was probably a bit... blunt. "I mean- it just.. seems like it'd suit you." Yeaaaah.... Suuuure...
Xeno seemed to be getting a little... overwhelmed? Maybe? He sipped the last of his cocoa, thinking... Perhaps it was time for another game - something singular to focus on. That seemed to help Leif, anyway. Though honestly he probably shouldn't compare everything he was doing with Xenophon to what he did with Leif.
"Well, I'm done with my cocoa, how's yours? You ready to go play something?"
Judas had been instructed to get rid of as many plushies as he could. So, naturally, he'd enlisted a few future engineering students to assist with lierally launching the plushies into the crowd. Why? Because Ava said to get rid of them, of course. He'd do so by any means necessary (which of course meant that he kept at least one, a green vespercat). And if that meant loading up cannons and trebuchets with plushies, by the Nine he would. For now he was simply supervising, making sure that nothing went wrong with the mechanics. At some point someone had come to give him a cup of cocoa, which he currently sipped on...

It took a lot of prodding, but Tethys had eventually decided to come to the festivities... He wasn't much of a social person, despite loving social studies, so this was a bit... out of his comfort zone, to say the least. Were teachers even wanted? This was mostly for the students, after all... Still, upon arrival he was given a stocking and-- a pair of earrings? Hm.
He made his way through the crowd, wondering what all was available to do...

This was Saerun's first time at the Academy during a huge event - and oh goodness... it was huge. She wandered around the entrance for a little bit before an attendant motioned her over to receive a stocking. After debating for a little bit, she picked out one with colors she liked best, and then waded into the crowd.
And almost regretted her decision to come... But her siblings were here! Somewhere....... Nervousness rising, she carefully weaved through people on the way to a game booth that looked interesting... Matching games were fun...!
Once it was her turn, she tried a couple of rounds, and won herself a little purple bulb that glowed. Pleased, she placed it around her neck and then started to wander off when a plushie flew out of the air and hit her right in the face. Immediately her markings lit up in an array of distressed lights, and she emitted a small cry of distress. Where had that come from!?
Arya giggled at the funny sounding phrase but shrugged, not knowing what it mean himself. Maybe he would ask his parents later on or something. "True. Well I guess I shall have no trouble showing you my drawings then." He looked at the Wisp that had come over to Pipper only to get distracted by a new familiar himself. "Oh! I'm not sure you should be eating candy silly." He told it.

"A net might work! Or maybe trying to get it to come to you with candy?" She said with a shrug as she watched Hailey pout at not being able to catch it. She spotted some free plushies near by and grabbed one. "Oh! You could try using your stocking if you still have it, that might work right?" She looked over at Malachi with a questioning look.

Shannon was surprised when her new Fennekit jumped down and ran off only to come back with a plush toy for her.

Michi spotted a booth with books and went over to look. They ended up keeping a book that looked interesting and that they didn't have already.

Caelan could say one thing about winning all these plus toys, there are certainly a lot of different kinds.
Kyleigh was having a pretty good time, but was starting to get tired. Even so, she managed to knock a tower of pots down, winning herself a green vespercat plush and another plant which Aruna nosed happily.

Taegan watched a purple Fallen girl walk away with a plush and a potted plant. The game she had finished playing looked pretty interesting, so they decided to give it a shot. They also won a potted plant and a plush. Maybe if the plant grew into something pretty, Vera would like it.

"Plushies are my favorite part of the party!" she said with a bright smile. "Well, that and making new friends." She nodded resolutely and grinned. She missed the face he made as someone shoved a plushie in her arms. "Oh! Look, I got another one," she giggled and held it up for him to see. "Unless you'd like it?" She had plenty of plushies, she could totally share! She only asked instead of shoving it in his stocking because well. He didn't seem to like plushies as much as she did, and he'd already given her one! She made a bit of a face when his drink of choice turned out to be....not his choice. "That's no good! Maybe try again later? Maybe some candy or something will help the burn," said the geist who had no idea how to cure a burn as she looked around for something that might cool his burn. She turned back when he offered her a piece of peanut brittle. "Oh, that looks good!" she said and took the offered piece, popping it in her mouth. "Mmm! I think I like that better than the peppermint bark. What do you think?"

Aellys was cradling Menthe in one hand when he nearly tripped over a kidden nomming a half open bag of peppermint candies. "Hey...whatcha got there?" he said as he bent down, taking the bag from her and opening a candy for her to eat instead. He handed a second to Menthe before popping one in his own mouth.

Drayden grinned crookedly as he won a plushie from a dart game. Popping balloons was much more fun than he had expected! He laughed as he tried again, but this time he only one a voucher for a hot drink. Mm, hot cocoa with lots of marshmallows sounded sooooo good right now!
”I’m starting to feel thirsty, are you?” Edel asked, looking to Rhiannon to see what she thought. "Yeah, I’d like something to drink too,” Rhiannon responded in agreement. Edel proceeded to look for a nearby booth or cart that would dispense something to drink… Aha! A tent not to far from the booth they stood appeared to pass out food and drinks. There was a line, but it didn’t seem to be that long of a wait. Slowly they made their way to the front, finally relaying a request for something to drink. ”2 hot chocolates please!” Edel said to the person behind the table. They were asked which mug they would prefer to have, to which Edel pointed to the red striped-green polka dotted mug.
Rhiannon pointed to a purple mug, which by now was a rather obvious choice for her. As the two were handed their mugs, they blew at the top of their cups, toning down the searing heat of the hot chocolate. Rhiannon tried a cautious sip, but yelped aloud as she was met with an intense heat which burned her tongue ”Yowch!”
Teo and Peri had parted ways when Ustule left, agreeing to get back together with Promme and Parodia as soon as possible. But they had managed to stick together--not out of any conscious choice, but out of a sort of unspoken action. Peri lived here and so could go back to his dorm room whenever he liked, but Teo did not. He had to wait until his mother was ready to pick him up, and he didn't think that was going to be any time soon. Until then, he might as well wander around. Haint stuck close to his side, leaning against him as if to give him assurance. He patted her on the head and accepted a bag that someone thrust into his already loaded arm. He sniffed at the bag and made a face. "I can't smell anything through the plastic."
Peri glanced over at the bag. "It's a bag of mints," he said. "You can tell by the colors and the stripes. I know that doesn't fricking help, but yeah, that's what it is." It was really weird to communicate with someone who couldn't see things. Not quite to the point of off-putting, but still kinda, y'know, weird? Annoying? Almost? It was hard to explain. He felt like he had to describe everything...differently. Aigh, he was no good at this--this was Prometheus's job. Everyone else was better at this than he was...
But Teo didn't seem to mind--or at least, he didn't object. Instead, he opened the bag and sniffed it carefully. Peri watched. "Y'know, if you'd like to drop off your stuff at my dorm for a while, we could--" He was interrupted by a junior draping a bracelet over his ear, then running away giggling. Peri rolled his eyes. "Oh yeah, so freaking clever."
"What is?" Teo asked.
"Someone dangling something off my ear." Peri took off the bracelet and examined it. Hm, pretty. He slipped it on his wrist and wrapped an arm around Teo's shoulder. "What do you say? You could drop it off in my room--no one will mess with it--until your mom gets here, then we can pick up your stuff and you can leave with it, what do you say?"
A festival at last! Talya always loved festivals. They didn't throw them nearly often enough in her opinion--just once every few months! And this one was looking to be one of the better ones, with lots of plushies and trinkets and candies and suchlike. And unlike in previous years, when everything had been either green or red or white or blue, it looked like this year someone had decided to make things interesting. By which she meant that they had decided to put out some plushies and trinkets that were pink. Normally she had to wait until Hunter's Jubilee for pink plushies, but not this year!
And yet, as she accepted a pink stocking and an appropriately pink bundle of candy canes, the first plushie that she found--fired from a cannon on the other side of the room, how rude, was...white. She wanted to protest, she surely did, but...well, she remembered the white vespercat in her room. This one didn't look precisely like Sugar, but it was close enough! She stuffed it in her stocking and continued along.
No sooner than she had found the first book did Autumn find another. Apparently there was some book booth toting books around the festival that she hadn't seen yet? If there was, she thanked them! Admittedly, she wasn't much of a reader, but she did enjoy it when the book was interesting enough. She smiled and tried to sound out the title.
"The Young Nightmare's Guide to Dark Alchemy?" She said, her eyes growing wide. "This sounds like something I shouldn't read, I don't know anything about alchemy! ... But maybe I could use it when I grow up?"
She shrugged, placed the book in her stocking, and went along her way.
While it was frustrating that they couldn't find the face painting booth even if they worked together, Milo was instantly drawn to the book booth. Books were like art for the mind instead of your eyes. They painted pictures of entire landscapes and complex people for you without needing pictures at all! It was remarkable how you could read something and it would just appear in front of you, like you were watching it happen before your eyes. "Island of Treasure? Sure!" He exclaimed, nodding furiously. "We could get some hot cocoa and sit in the common room! That would be fun!"
Melanie, despite her love for cozy winter fashions, wasn't someone who liked the cold. She'd brave through it if she absolutely had to, but if she had the choice to stay home and wait it out, she would. The cold often felt like little needles running across her skin, and being chilly just wouldn't do. Even in the slightest of chills, Melanie would gladly bury herself in a blanket and sit by a furnace. Her family thought she was funny, but it wasn't a joke to her at all.
So when a bucket of frigid enchanted fluff balls was dumped on her head, she couldn't keep herself from screaming.
"Ah! Cold, cold, cold!" She cried, waving the offending balls off of her head and shoulders. "Come on, really? That's just mean! Now I need to go get another hot drink to warm up again!"
