Anyway yeah Descartes says that the fact that you are thinking gives you the ability to perceive the reality of yourself. Therefore, so long as you are thinking, you can be guaranteed that you exist, however because you can not apply this self perception to others, you can't actually prove that others are real.
On that same note though, how can you ask if you are anywhere or perceiving nothing. Nothing being what it is, if you did perceive it, there is no reason for it to appear as Something. The fact that nothing appears as so much something pretty much invalidates the question to me. When you stop perceiving things and locations, then ask where 'here' is.>>

[[ Blarg. This week is shaping up to be rather bad. First, I had to leave my girlfriend's house on Sunday after spending an incredibly fun week with her. Obviously something I didn't want to do. Then I got this cold which is taking up all my energy. And yesterday my mom's mom died. So this week all around sucks thus far.
But I'll live through it. Heavily medicated. I love cold medicine so very much. ]]

The way I see it, if you are real, then that is all you need to know. According to Descartes, we would all be individual beings that produce individual segments of reality detached from one another and yet coinciding with one another.
So prove your own existence and attribute reality to whatever you want, but don't sulk if your reason isn't 100% valid.
