The Camper tossed out his second Pokemon - this time, a shivering thing that seemed to be surrounded with cold air. "What's that?" Chayse wondered as he pulled out his Pokedex again - this guy sure had some unique Pokemon. "Snorunt: The Snow Hat Pokemon. It can only survive in cold areas. It bounces happily around, even in environments as cold as -150 degrees Fahrenheit.""An Ice-type?" Chayse mused, grinning. "Alright, then - Wooper, return!" he called out, beaming the Water-type back into her Pokeball. "It's all up to you this time, Cyndaquil," he said, the little fire mouse eagerly leaping forward into battle.

"Snorunt, no!" the Camper shouted as Cyndaquil got in the last Tackle, knocking the shivering Pokemon unconscious. "Return.." he said glumly, his eyes narrowed. "You're tough.. but not tough enough for Ninetales!" he shouted. Chayse's eyes widened. Was he joking?

The Camper threw out his next Pokeball and - sure enough - the elegant Ninetales appeared, fire licking out of its mouth gracefully. Chayse whistled lowly. "Man... That's a beautiful Pokemon.." He had never seen one up close before. But as a Trainer, he knew what to do. "Cyndaquil, come on back," he said, and Cyndaquil ran back to hop up onto his shoulder. "Wooper, go!" he shouted, sending the refreshed Wooper back onto the field. "We know how to deal with fire!"

"Yes!" Chayse shouted as Wooper soaked the Ninetales thoroughly, making it sulk down slowly until it stopped moving and just lay there like a wet rag doll. "Damn it!" the Camper cursed, returning his prized Pokemon. "Nobody beats Ninetales! Well... I've still got one more!" He was starting to sound desperate. Chayse liked the sound of that. Smirking, Chayse crossed his arms over his chest. "Bring it on!"

"Alright!" exclaimed Chayse, grinning from ear to ear. "We did it! We just won our very first Trainer battle!" Cyndaquil ran back over to Chayse so that he could be picked up, and Chayse walked with his Pokemon over to the other Trainer, who was looking very glum. "Hey, no hard feelings... It was a great battle! I'd love to challenge you again sometime." Chayse held out his hand, which the Camper accepted and shook with a sad smile. "Yeah... I guess I'll have to become much stronger before I challenge Falkner." Chayse laughed and nodded. "You and me both! Well, thanks for the match. And good luck!"
With that, Chayse returned to the Pokemon Center to give his team some much deserved rest. After all, he was one step closer to getting his first Gym badge, and achieving his dream.

'Hmm.. maybe it would be a good idea to look for some more wild Pokemon,' Chayse wondered while he walked down the main street in Violet City, the last of the afternoon light spilling over the top of Sprout Tower. He flipped open his Pokedex, going over the entries he had so far. "I've only seen 8 different kinds," he said out loud, flipping it shut. "And only two of those Pokemon have the full data..." He was sure Prof. Elm would want him to fill up his Dex more than that. 'And more detailed information is sure to help me in my battles,' he mused. "Come on, Cyndaquil," he said, poking the drowzing Pokemon. "It's not time to sleep yet - let's go out for one more haul."

Just outside of the city, a bunch of Rattata were scurrying about in the grass, scavenging for food. 'Perfect,' Chayse thought with a grin. He hadn't registered a Rattata yet, so they were prime for capture. "Cyndaquil, you ready?" he said, pointing out one of the rats that paused to look at them. "Right there - get 'im with your Tackle attack!" Cyndaquil leaped down to the ground and charged the rodent at full speed - he wouldn't disappoint Chayse!

"Nice one!" Chayse called out to Cyndaquil when it landed its last Tackle. "Now to capture it.." He grabbed up an empty Pokeball and tossed it quickly at the fainted Rattata. 'Come on..' he urged, and finally, the ball clicked shut! Chayse grinned widely. "Alright!" he exclaimed, and checked as his Pokedex recorded the Rattata's data. "Check that one off the list."Walking over to the Pokeball, Chayse picked it up and pressed the button, letting out the woozy rodent. "Sorry about that, Rattata. You're free to go. Thanks for the battle!"

"That last round was good - how 'bout one more go?" Chayse asked Cyndaquil, who didn't seem completely against the idea. As long as I get to eat and sleep afterwards, is what he was probably thinking. Chayse smirked a little at the thought. "Alright, then." Walking a bit further into the grass, Chayse noticed a group of Hoppip starting to fly up toward some trees. One of them was straggling behind, still hopping close to the ground, and Chayse pointed it out to Cyndaquil. "There! See if you can Tackle it - but hurry before it gets away!"
Encountered Hoppip | Lvl 06 | HP 60/60 Ability: Chlorophyll (Intense Sunlight causes SPD +2 on subsequent turns) Moves: Splash (no effect), Synthesis (recover 1/2 max HP, Full HP in strong sunlight, 5 use limit), Tail Whip (DEF -1)

Cyndaquil rushed toward the low-flying Hoppip, hitting it squarely with a solid tackle. The Hoppip fell, but suddenly began glowing green... "It's recovering!" Chayse shouted to Cyndaquil. "Hurry, hit it again!" With a cry, Cyndaquil charged again, and again, finally knocking the flying plant down for good. "Alright, my turn," Chayse said, reaching into his pack for an empty Ball. "Pokeball, go!"As the thrown ball sucked in the Pokemon, Chayse watched intently until.... Click! Hoppip was caught! "Bingo." Chayse said with a smirk, before going to retrieve it and giving Cyndaquil an affectionate pat. "You did great, buddy.. You earned a good rest." Pushing the button on the Pokeball, Chayse said goodbye the Hoppip, who weakly stumbled off to try and join its herd. "One more for the Pokedex," he said with a grin, checking out his latest entry. "Let's head back to Mom's house for the night. I'm sure she cooked some awesome dinner."

After a delicious meal and a full night's rest, Chayse awoke to the sound of Dodrio squawking at the sun. He rose and stretched heavily, looking over at Cyndaquil who was curled up, sleeping in his sweatshirt. His lips twitched quietly. They had quite a busy day, yesterday... and today was a brand new one.
Getting out of bed, Chayse dressed himself and picked up Cyndaquil in his arms before heading into the kitchen for a spot of breakfast before hitting the road again. "Morning, Mom," he said and plopped down to a table full of oatmeal, fruit, eggs and bacon, and a tall glass of orange juice. "Wow," he said, admiring the spread. "This is a feast!" His mom smiled, drying her hands on a towel. "Well, I figured you'd need your energy for whatever adventures you have planned for today.." She leaned over and kissed Chayse's cheek, who grinned and grabbed a plate full of everything. "Oh! Can't forget you, buddy," he said, filling a small bowl with berries and lowering it down for the fire mouse to munch on. "You're gonna need your strength, too."
When breakfast was finished, Chayse gave his mom a hug and, promising to return soon, set off West toward Goldenrod City. [Exit to Goldenrod]

Terrence moved through the town and looked around. There was a gym here, but he honestly wasn't concerned about it all that much. The gym here really wouldn't do much for him because his pokemon were stronger, and he wanted to go back to kanto and finish up the badges in that region before he started challenging gyms from other regions. He made a note that the first gym for the johto region was here, and he'd certainly come back here and challenge him hen he was done with the kanto gyms. He stretched his arms, moving towards cherrygrove city.

Terrence walked back into the city, and looked around a bit. He needed to find where to go in order to get to Golgenrod city. Pursing his lips, he decided to ask around a bit, trying to find out the path he needed to take. Once he was told where to go, he thanked the person and went on his way. He wondered what Goldenrod city would look like, and so whit those thoughts on his mind he left the area and headed towards the next egg location.

It was kind of weird going from a quiet town, to nature, to a large city and then back to nature all to get to a … slightly smaller city? Honestly, everything seemed ‘small’ outside of Big Town. Which is what made the name even more ironic; despite what the name suggested, the place was hardly a town. Or if it was, it was very much on the bigger side of towns. Skyscrapers, towering apartment buildings, ferries, taxis… he was pretty sure the only thing that dwarfed his home town was Goldenrod City itself, as it was meant to. The rest though? Eh… they just didn’t cut it.

There was also the fact that the two cities were rather close to one another as well. Which sort of limited the amount of nature interaction they had, which was perfectly fine for Keegan. At about this point, with the anxiety passed and the lack of interaction from unknown outside sources, he was beginning to feel rather confident about this journey. Sure, it’d taken weeks of convincing by Carrigan to even get him considering it.
There was potential in the adventure. Keegan wasn’t really interested in being a pokemon trainer or anything; that was something pretty much everyone and their mother strived to be at some point in their life in the world and as noble a goal as it was, eventually it lost its novelty. Only a select few ever remained in the pokemon master domain anyways so it was better to strive for some other career path; for him? That was the journalism side, the investigative journalism side. And if there was something the pokemon path was rift with; it was controversy. The evil organizations and their corrupt plots, the hidden truths lurking in the dark about the past and even present actions of corporations, the secrets behind well known gym leaders, their pokemon… all that good juicy information that was just begging to be presented to the world by someone. And maybe, that someone could be him. If he tried.
Of course, that required getting out of his house. He could lurk on the internet on conspiracy theorists and journalist boards all day, but that information would never be the same as what he could personally collect. Plus, the more claim he could make to his headline pieces, the better. There was just too much siting to be had using online sources, as nice of leads as they were. So, lost in the prospects of maybe furthering his interests, that Keegan didn’t even notice as they passed the threshold into Violet City.
"Pika pi!" Alanna spoke up, having stopped to grab his pant leg and yank it to catch his attention. The lad came to a halt at the action, glancing down at the Pikachu. "Pika!" Pikachu remarked, raising another paw and pointing over towards what appeared to be a small restaurant.
"Huh…?" Keegan remarked, blinking and looking up in the direction she was pointing. There wasn’t anything odd that immediately caught his attention; it looked like a regular little eatery; a few seconds longer of staring though and he recognized the familiar form of a mega-Ampharos next to one of the tables, casually munching away at what he assumed was a plate of pokemon food. Or brownies, it was hard to tell from this distance and without color. But he recognized that pokemon all too well and a bit of a grin formed on his face has he quickly headed that way.
"Echo!" The mega perked up and turned at the call, immediately dropping the half eaten brownie on the plate before rushing over to immediately glomp the young man. Keegan chuckled, accepting the excited hug from the fluffy electric type, stepping back and allowing Alanna to receive the same treatment as she was scooped up and given and equally welcoming hug and nuzzle (which she accepted willingly, for the most part). Keegan relaxed a bit at the little meet up (and the lack of other individuals on the outside patio eating area), gaze shifting around briefly before looking to the Ampharos again. "Where’s Carrigan?"

As if that were the cue needed; the doors of the restaurant snapped open as an individual walked out to the dining patio. Echo set Alanna back down and gave a cheer of delight, a response Alanna followed suit on once she recognized the person and Keegan visibly relaxed after briefly tensing up in a panic. Honestly, if it had been anyone else, he’d have immediately started moving away, but the sight of Carrigan (even if he was an imposing figure) with his hands full of sandwich baskets was enough to catch him off guard and forget that idea.
"Keeeeggmaster!" Carrigan chimed, immediately dropping the two meals on a nearby table before scooping Keegan up into a bear hug. The younger man ‘oof’ed and tried very hard not to squirm too much as to slip out; less because he had a problem with the hugging thing but more so because Carrigan stood a full half a foot taller than him and that was a decent enough drop to trouble.
It didn’t last that long though and Keegan gratefully found himself returned to his own feet, wincing has his hair was ruffled rather roughly. He managed to straighten up and straighten out his hair from the mess it’d been made into, Carrigan grinning still as he placed his hands on his hips.
"Well, well, well look at the big bad pokemon master! " The winked and shot the younger boy a thumbs up, "already taking the world by storm. So, you get some dirt on the professor? There a scoop there I’ll be reading about in a weak? He’s totally making mutant pokemon in the back lab ain’ he? I know what’s up[."
"Pfff," Keegan gave his older brother a look, trying very hard to keep a serious expression in the face of such ridiculousness accusations. Or maybe they weren’t that ridiculous, he’d seen quite a few posts on forums that he visited regarding the potential dark workings that the professors might be engaged in. He didn’t quite believe those theories but… they were kind of interesting. "No… I didn’t get a chance to investigate that far," Carrigan gave a pout, folding his arms over his chest if faux disappointment.
"Really? Well that’s a shame; that’s some dirt that really needs to come out to the light " he chimed, shaking his head as though this was truly a loss for the world. Keegan had the hardest time not cracking a smile that betrayed the humor this whole thing was bringing; it was amusing if not well completely and ludicrous. Honestly, it was hard to believe Carrigan was like this at all with what he did for work. No one would take a model seriously if they started spouting nonsense like this. Conspiracy theories? Dark truths? That’s just not the stuff you heard.
Then again maybe that’s why he was a model? They were supposed to be seen not heard, right? Maybe, secretly it worked. Hm…
"I’m sure there’ll be plenty of time to uncover those dark truths once all the other corrupt conspiracies come to light. You know… one thing at a time." Keegan responded in as casual a tone as possible, as though such talk was as common as speaking about the weather.
Carrigan’s grin returned, "sounds good! Remember, I totally gave you the idea first! Anyways!" He splayed a hand out at the two sandwiches, "so Kegmaster, you hungry? I got sandwiches… you know the good kind!" he retrieved the two baskets from the table that wasn’t his initial choice, offering one of them out for Keegan to take. Bright green eyes studied the food a moment before with an appreciative smile he took the offering.

Ashley touched down in Violet City, looking around. He’d have to wait a bit, which was an annoyance but until then he’d do some clearing out. There was a vacant box for donations and after a moment, he’d dug a few things out of his bag to clear space and left them for someone else to claim. He also headed to the pokemon center to do some exchanging with his team as he saw fit. With that done he moved along to his waiting.

… ‘a bite’ was an understatement. Mere moments after seating himself, Keegan had devoured a good third of the sandwich. He might’ve gotten through half if a waitress hadn’t appeared to deliver two steaming bowls of soup. Of course, it was the freezing in panic at the potential social interaction and not a change of which food he was consuming that slowed his meal consumption.
It didn’t help that Carrigan, bless his soul, was a social butterfly by nature. It was only after ten minutes of chatter that the waitress finally left, and Keegan was able to ease back into his food. "You know, people aren’t going to eat you if you talk to them, Keegs," Carrigan remarked once it was just their group, beginning in on his own soup. The younger man scoffed and rolled his eyes, trying to play off the situation as though there was nothing to it.
"You don’t know that. They might be cannibals, staking out fresh meat," he remarked casually before shoveling some now lukewarm potato soup in his mouth. Carrigan just cocked an eyebrow, mouth full of sandwich as he seemed to consider this theory. "You think? You’re kind of shrimpy bro, no offense. Think I’m more at risk than you," Keegan made a face, staring at Carrigan with a bit of a look that suggested he couldn’t quite take his older brother seriously. Carrigan paid it no mind, instead shoving another bite of sandwich in his mouth.
"I guess so… by the way, does Rebecca know you’re breaking your diet?" Carrigan nearly choked, gaze narrowing on Keegan. It might’ve been a scary sight, if his cheeks were full of food making him look like a Dedenne with its cheeks full. This time it was Keegan’s turn to casually ignore the response, just eating more of his soup. "Nope. And you won’t be telling her…. right?" It was more of a pleading tone than a threatening one and for a brief moment, Keegan almost felt bad.

. . . ‘Almost’. This was something that happened from time to time; him teasing and threatening Carrigan with his agent. He’d never do it though; Rebecca was a slave driver as it was, and his older brother hardly deserved more of her overbearing and controlling attitude in his life. Plus, as difficult as it could be, he always tried to make time to hang out with him, even if later there would be repercussions. Even if he didn’t actively say it, Keegan was grateful.
". . . Nah, I won’t. I promise," he finally replied earning a solid grunt of relief from the older man. Even if Carrigan knew that Keegan was joking, the mention of Rebecca finding out about him breaking the rigorous protocol she had for him was always unnerving.
"Good! Because otherwise, you’d feel bad about it after I give you all these nifty little gifts," Carrigan spoke, though his words were a bit muffled by the bite of sandwich in his mouth. A look of surprise came over Keegan’s face, though he remained quiet and resumed with his food. Carrigan swallowed and gave a grin before turning and fishing out a box from underneath his chair, moving aside his mostly empty dishes to drop it down in the center.
"Here you go! I figured a budding trainer like yourself could use a little ah… what is it? ‘Care package’? Yeah, care package!" He started digging through the box and laying out the contents on the table, Keegan staring in grim shock as he looked over the haul. It was quite a bit actually; there were some fancy looking pokeballs that looked oddly familiar to the one Alanna had, along with some he didn’t recognize, as well as potions, TMs and odd little nick knacks that probably had some use for someone.
Alanna had jumped up to perch on his shoulders at this point, staring in awe at the number of items. Carrigan finished setting it all out, swiping his hands together and leaning back in his chair with a grin. "So wha’dya think? Nice haul, huh?" Carrigan remarked, picking up some of the discs to look them over. "One of the other model’s older sister was a trainer too before retiring; so this was a bunch of left over stuff he said I could have to give to you to help you out! Great huh?"
Keegan sat quietly in his chair, just staring at the spread. If his face wasn’t a dead giveaway, it was clear he was having a little trouble processing the generosity. It was a lot, for someone just starting out and that just reminded him of what he was doing, what it entailed and slowly started the anxiety building in his lower gut. Maybe he was biting off more than he could chew?
"I…. uhm… I … can’t…,"
"If you’re about to say ‘I can’t accept this all’ then it’s too late because, I ain’t taking it back Keegs. For real though, it’s all okay! She wasn’t keeping this stuff anyways and Jeff definitely isn’t about that trainer scene so, " he set the discs down, splaying his hands over the table. "It’s certainly no going to make you league ready, you’ll need like what is it… 8 badges for that? But it’ll help you out in the long run I’m sure, so don’t be so frazzled. It’s all good bro."
Keegan shifted uncomfortably in his seat, trying to process. It wasn’t like Carrigan didn’t have a point and well… free stuff was free stuff? It was just kind of a reminder that he wasn’t entirely certain to what degree he’d take this trainer thing. It was a big step out of his comfort zone. "Ah… right. Thanks… I… I appreciate it Carrigan." He finally managed to say after a prolonged minute of silent thought. The older man eyed him with a leery stare before his grin returned. "Good!"
