Personality: Chayse is an ambitious kid who rarely backs down from challenges. While he can be very energetic, he is also rather sensitive and empathetic towards both people and Pokemon. If someone around him is hurting or in trouble, he will be the first to try and help them. While usually honest and hardworking, he is not immune to the occasional lapse in morality, and he has been known to sometimes tell white lies if it means keeping himself out of a situation he doesn't want to be in.
History: In Violet City, Chayse attended Johto's Trainers' School from the age of 8 to 11, knowing almost as soon as he could walk and talk that he wanted to train Pokemon and enter the League. He envied the trainers that he saw passing through Violet City with their Pokemon, and he often peeked in on the daily matches that were held in Falkner's Gym. It was there that he acquired his love of battling, even before he had ever experienced it for himself. He wanted to go and see Prof. Elm in New Bark Town right after he finished his lessons at the Trainer's School; however, his grandfather in Mahogany Town had taken ill the week following his graduation, and so he and his family had to move away to care for him.
While they were there, Chayse told his grandfather all about his desire to become a Pokemon Trainer, and when the time came, his grandfather had only one thing to say to him: Go. It was his grandfather's last word to him, and though it was short, and small, Chayse knew what it meant. His grandfather had given him a blessing. Chayse no longer wanted to become a Trainer just for himself - he wanted to do it for his grandfather. That was his final wish, that Chayse would achieve his dream. And Chayse knew that if he could succeed, his grandfather's spirit would be overjoyed. Now that his family is back in Violet City, he is finally ready to take on the biggest challenge of his life: The Pokemon League.
