Lucrezia frowned down at the lightly shaking box on the front steps of the trailer. It was wrapped with a large red bow and a card that on one side had her name written in loopy, effeminate handwriting (probaly Aiden's, she reflected) and the words "OPEN ME" written on the other. Who was she to disobey it?
Untying the bow, Lucrezia lifted the lid of the box and looked inside. Staring back was a large tan-and brown kitten with huge paws. She smiled and lifted it gently out of the box, drawing it close and scratching its head. The now-purring critter shifted and batted at her hips with its tail . Lucrezia glanced down and noticed a checkered blue silk ribbon tied in a bow around the end and a second card which, on closer inspection, simply read "Merry Christmas."
Though not entirely sure of what Christmas was, Lucrezia was smitten with the kitten. She set it down on her bed and looked it over. There were some funny looking stripes on its legs.
She smiled. The cat was wearing grip wraps.
