Lucrezia was asleep, or trying to be, at least, in a safety net. She'd spent all morning up in the rigging tightening bolts and re-tying knots and if she didn't deserve a nap after all that she didn't know what she deserved. After all her work, if that wasn't the safest big tent catwalk in the whole universe she'd be surprised. She'd checked everything.
A horrendous crashing sound alerted her, and she shot bolt upright and looked around, bouncing a bit in the net. She looked around, searching for the source and expecting to see a slowly smoldering spotlight on the floor, but didn't see anything.
Hm, though Lucrezia. That was weird.
"Anyone here?" she called.

Oh, right, that crash. Aemilia sat just out of the main light, one hand rubbing her arse as a large, seventy pound metal ball rolled a short distance closer toward the net. A skate had shot out from beneath one ill placed foot and hit the net's grounding posts, but that noise was lost amid the crashing of the three metallic orbs. They had sounded like horrible wind chimes from hell going down, all two hundred pounds of them, and Amee figured she might've sprained something in her fall.
Wincing at the voice, she had hoped no one had noticed the 'skate mishap' but the inquiry confirmed someone had definitely heard it. Bending the light so that she was more visible, she, too, looked for the source of the voice. "Aye, jus' me... and my stupid props." The last was mumbled. She had been hoping to practice handling the huge pieces for awhile. She had no real act idea just yet, only an outline, but she had to be sure her strength could hold out to manipulate all three heavy orbs - and that required practice whenever she could get it.

Lucrezia sat up and turned around to see where the voice had come from. Oh, there was a girl there? That was weird. She hadn't thought there was anyone here when she was up fixing the rigging. Either way, she was here now.
She somersaulted out of the net and crouched next to the massive metal sphere she figured had caused the noise in the first place. She glanced over at the girl and then at the ball before giving it a nudge. She was amazed at its weight. The girl, on the other hand, was obviously new, seeing as Lucrezia had never seen it before. And juggling things that big she was bound to mess up some of the painstakingly-repared support beams.
"Are you the new strongman act," she asked, "Or are you just stupid?"

Almost immediately Amee turned pink all the way to her ears. Whether from anger or embarrassment was yet to be determined, as it was unlikely she'd verbally express either. Swallowing, she managed herself to her feet using the largest ball as a sort of stepping stone. Testing out her bruises hip and sore ankle, she glanced at Lucrezia with possibly the most annoyed look she'd ever made in her life, though it didn't even appear that annoyed - just irked.
"I'm fine, thanks." Rubbing her arse again, her brow furrowed in sudden confusion as she realised she didn't know what a strongman was, "What's a strongman? Lifts stuff?" She glanced at the balls, figuring she did that but that wasn't going to be her act all together. She shrugged, "Yes and no?"

"Lifting stuff, feats of strength, what's it sound like?" Lucrezia shrugged and tried to lift the ball. She was strong, but not that strong, and could barely budge it. "But if these are your props, I guess you'd have to be. Unless you like, stand on them and juggle monkeys, or levitate them."
She cringed at that remark. Perhaps she'd been here too long and the dry wit that was so popular was rubbing off on her. It reminded her of when Scarlett asked if she could hang by her liver.
"You're new, aren't you?" she asked, extending a hand. "I"m Lucrezia Falco, aerial silks and trapeze. And tent rigging, but that's another story. Et vous?"

She watched Lucrezia test out the metal ball's weight, a small smile curling the edge of her mouth before the uncharacteristically ill humor died away and she was left with her usual good-natured self. Kneeling, she lifted the ball with ease as well as lifting it's counterpart in her other arm. A soft, confused frown claimed her features as she looked at the girl, "Juggle monkeys? No," she smiled, "I make 'em disappear."
The dry wit was lost on her for now, leaning to drop the ball once again and take Lucrezia's offered hand gently in her own. Her grip clued nothing to her strange strength. "I am. Aemilia Saint Sinclair, currently your resident cage cleaner." She grinned lop-sidedly, tucking the lock of white behind one ear as she rested a foot against the orb on the ground, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Falco."

Lucrezia, who now that she thought about it was liking the idea of monkey juggling, frowned as Aemilia hefted both balls with ease. "It's just Lucrezia," she corrected somewhat absentmindedly.
"You make them disappear?" she asked incredulously, her eyes still following the metal globes. Then again, if she had managed to lift them with ease, maybe there was some magic to her. "How do you do that?" she asked, fiddling with the bandages on her arms.

Amee really didn't understand why such an idea was so hard to grasp for the people in this cirque. She had been around long enough now to notice a fishman, a lady with horns coming out of her head and could even grasp the idea of mini horses - PONIES, so why was her making things disappear so hard to believe? Nevertheless, it always seemed that a demonstration did the trick. Her lips pursed, knowing she'd have to be careful not to tire herself out when she'd need to use her ability later while cleaning. How much could she risk?
Deciding it was worth a bit of fun, she bounced the smaller of the three balls in one hand ever so gently, "Like this."
There was no fancy movement to Aemilia's talent. It simply was. The ball disappeared as if it never existed and Aemilia's hand stopped moving. She didn't let it go, still unsure what would happen if she lost the item she made invisible. This would not be something someone would want to run into unknowingly. After a few seconds, she arched her brows at Lucrezia before allowing the globe to appear once again. "Easy."

If there had been a trick, Lucrezia had missed it. She gasped. "Vraiment?" she asked, leaning forwards to gaze at the ball. She poked it briefly - solid as ever.
"How do you do such a thing?" she asked, utterly fascinated.

The fact that this girl spoke a bit of french in with her english made her a little easier to talk to as far as Aemilia went. It reminded her of her ever-brief caretaker, even if she didn't always understand the words. Shaking her dark curls, she laughed softly at the gasp before shrugging her reply.
"I bend light rays. I can change the colour of things as well." Without even blinking, the colour of the white strip in her hair changed to pink, to blue, to black and to white again.

"Amazing," breathed Lucrezia before catching herself and taking on a slightly disaffected look. Aemilia was, after all, a newbie to the cirque.
"When did you join the crew?" she asked.

She appeared momentarily disappointed when Lucrezia suddenly pulled some detached act. Her lips pursed mildly in thought as she considered just what she did wrong. Being new was the farthest reason from her mind, but little did she know.
Shrugging, she thought back, "About a week, I b'lieve."

"Oh," nodded Lucrezia, as if that explained everything. "Who all have you met so far? Did someone show you around?"
Maybe she could use some help on that respect. It certainly seemed that way.

She studied Lucrezia for a moment as she shrugged, answering as she shifted the ball in her grasp. "Aye, 've met a few. Hazina, I believe was her name. And some gentleman named Charlot. Aiden, the ... boss man," she didn't know exactly what else to call him, "Jo and... you." Her mix-matched eyes settled on the girl once again, having looked away as she tried to remember those she had met.
"Aiden did a right job of showin' me abo't. Still get lost now an' then, but nothin' too bad." She hesitated before being a tad more conversational, "'ow long have you been here?"

"Aiden's a good guy," nodded Lucrezia as Aemilia listed off names. She was shocked by how many of them went with people she didn't know. How many newbies could there possibly be? "Gentleman is probably the best word you'll find for Charlot," she nodded again.
She had be gradually drifting back towards the safety net and now bounced back into it.
"Moi?" she asked. "I've been here for months. Since last winter, I think. It gets bit confusing at times with all the world hopping. Where are you from?"
