Lucrezia had known she had put more than enough feathers in her hair for her performance, and that each subsequent performance put more in in addition to the fuzz that was already there. What she didn't understand was why the fuzz was so hard to get out, and so hard to keep out. Her dark ponytail was spotted with orange fuzz, like some oompa loompa's dandruff.
At a loss for anything else to do, she had set out for Aiden's trailer in hopes that he might have some tips for taking care of the pesky things. Which was why she was knocking on the door.
"Aiden? You home?"

Aiden leaned back in a hand-made wooden chair, and held a pencil between his fingers. He frowned at his clipboard, and began to write something down, but then changed his mind, and sighed.
He thought of something else to write down, but, once more, he frowned at the piece of paper, and then sighed again.
At the sound of a knock at his door, he leaped up, and opened it wide. He was surprised at seeing Lucrezia there, but greeted her with a warm smile none the less.
"Why, hello there. Is there something that I could help you with?" He asked, and then he glanced down at his clipboard again.
He figured that he might as well ask her. It was worth a shot.
"Hey, you don't happen to know a seven-letter word that means 'lament' do you?"

"Requiem," replied Lucrezia automatically, momentarily caught off-guard and surprised that she had known that. She then remembered what had brought her to Aiden's door step in the first place and pulled a lock of orange-dotted hair out of her ponytail.
"Do you know any tricks for getting feathers out of hair? I've been combing it and washing it and nothing works."
She let the hair fall limply in front of her face and then blew it up briefly in frustration.

"Aha!" Aiden exclaimed as his filled in his crossword. He then walked into his trailer and placed the clipboard on a very organized desk. He placed the pencil in a pencil holder, and, all the while, thought about Lucrezia's question.
"Hmm," He mummbled, while he stared at her feather-covered head. They did seem to be just about everywhere, and Aiden then frowned at her hair.
"I'm not quite sure what to tell you. It seems pretty difficult to get feathers, sequins, sparkles, make up and the like off." He thought about it again, walked forward, and plucked one of the feathers from Lucrezia's hair.
"Were they sticky when you put them on?" He asked, and then followed it up with, "How many times have you tried washin them out? Have you used shampoo?"

"Um, no, four, and yes," Lucrezia answered, trying to keep his questions straight in her head. True, she had heard about the difficulty with sparkles, but never feathers. Maybe because most people had the good sense not to use them. "The crazy thing is that I didn't even put that many in. Just a ring around my ponytail. It's like they're multiplying or something when they turn into fuzz."
Speaking of things that wouldn't come off, she had to admit she had wondered about Aiden's stage makeup before. She'd figured before now that every time she'd seen him, he had reason to be wearing it, but it didn't make sense that he would just wear it in his free time.
"I didn't have any trouble with the sequins or my makeup. It's just the feathers that are doing this."

Aiden himself had difficulty keeping track of which response went with which question. He had a bad habit of asking too many things at once, and here, it was evident to him that he probably shouldn't.
This did seem to be a bit of a problem. Could it be? Well...Aiden reassured himself that it wasn't, and just glared at the small, fuzzy feathers.
"Maybe one of the girls could help you get them out?" He suggested, while pulling more of the feather out of Lucrezia's hair, and then trying to get them off of his fingers, "This is pretty puzzling. I don't really remember anyone ever having this much trouble getting costume pieces off!"

Lucrezia, though she didn't have all her priorities in order, was pretty certain she didn't want to spend the rest of her life picking bright orange feathers out of her hair. "I've always used feathers in costume pieces. Granted, these I think are synthetic, but that wouldn't make a difference."
She paused and gave him a long look, snide comments about his purple makeup and costume pieces not coming off springing to mind.
"Right?"

"No, I don't think it should make any difference whatsoever," Aiden replied, rubbing his chin in thought. He glanced down at the floor of his trailer, realizing that it was now covered in orange feathers. He looked back up to Lucrezia, only to see that there were still many feathers left in her hair.
"Are you positive that these weren't sticky? Who knows what they could've mixed with in the storage trailer. It usually isn't this hard to get costume pieces off."

Lucrezia gave him a confused look, and glanced at the floor. "They couldn't be cursed, could they? Because I only put in about six or seven around my ponytail and it's like I'm pulling them out by the dozen."
She paused briefly to ponder how to permanently remove cursed feathers from hair.
"It's someone's sick idea of a joke, I'd say. Self-replicating feathers."

Aiden laughed slightly at Lucrezia's joke. He still frowned, however. These feathers were a bit worrisome, to say the least.
"Cursed feathers? Well, I certainly hope not," Aiden said, with a grin, "Though, I suppose it might be someone's idea of a joke. I mean, we do work at a circus. Upset crew members, perhaps?" He added with a laugh.
If there were any crew members who felt they needed to get revenge for some reason, Aiden would surely find them. He, however, doubted that upset crew members were the cause of this feather problem.

"Entirely Possible," replied Lucredia, pulling another tuft of orange out of her hair. "Though I doubt it was meant for me if it's revenge." She didn't think she'd upset anyone that badly.
Aiden didn't seem to be entirely agreeing with any reason she could come up with, and that seemed odd. She looked warrily at him. "What do you think it is?"

Aiden furrowed his brow. He wasn't entirely sure what it was, but, he figured that he had better not worry the girl.
"Honestly, if I were you," He began, "I wouldn't be too upset about it. Maybe you put in more than you thought you did."
He smiled at her reassuringly.
"I bet it'll be okay. Maybe one of the girls who uses a lot of make-up or something can help you get it off. I'm really no expert with the stuff."

Lucrezia laughed slightly at that remark. So perhaps that was why he never took his off? "I'll be sure to ask," she assured him. Thinking that she had put more in than she thought, or that someone was putting more in as a joke, was much more comforting than thinking about cursed feathers.
"Once I figure it out, I'm going to get some that will come out later," she stated.
Still, she had to think Aiden was acting a little strangely.

The fact that Lucrezia had picked up on Aiden's nervousness was completely lost on him. He just acted cool and collected, while he beamed at her, and occasionally glanced down at the floor to see the mass of orange feathers that had collected there.
"Feathers that come out would probably be a good idea," He laughed, "So, is there anything else that I could help you with?"

Lucrezia shook her head 'no.' "That was all," she told him, craning her head around to see the paper in his hand. Some sort of puzzle with words. So that was why he'd asked...
"How'd you become ringmaster?" she asked honestly, trying to make conversation. And besides. She was curious.
