"Freaking fantastic."

Isi stared at the floating red and white whale in his bedroom and mulled over it's appearance. The crippled boy was expecting to have a normal Christmas after he had locked up Old Maasi in her bedroom with two 10,000 piece jigsaw puzzles, but then THIS arrived on his doorstep. From a little blue white pokadotted box, the whale had emerged and it floated and flew about his head like a balloon. The tag on the present said:

Happy Holidays! - Lab 305

The whale was now buzzing about Isi's room, looking at everything with happy jolly eyes. Whenever Isi did something, the whale opened it's mouth in a wide grin and narrated what he was doing.

"Isi shifted his arms upon his bed and gazed up with calculating sarcastic eyes."

"Shut up."

"He said."

Isi rolled his eyes and listened as the whale rattled off again in his deep baritone movie narrarator voice. Well, now that it was here, it'll need a name, "I'll name you Beauregard."

"Isi said finally as he ran his hands through his grey brown hair."

Sighing again, Isi picked himself up from his bed and hobbled over to the radio, hoping to drown out the whale's consistant rumbling overtone. The radio buzzed to life and began rocking out to the song "I will not go quietly" by Don Henley. Almost immediately afterwards, the whale began to sing in chorus. Isi slammed his hands to his head and moaned aloud, "OH. MY. FREAKING. GOD."

"He cried."

Giving up and throwing his arms into the air, Isi went and laid himself back down on his bed to give his weak legs a rest. Mournfully, he looked out the window and daydreamed of his raevan who would be coming...Hopefully soon. He desperately needed someone SANE to talk to.

Isi shuddered as he felt a breeze pass right through his flannel shirt and to his skin. It was winter now and it was snowing outside, so he had hobbled around the house, holding onto all the installed railings, and closed all the windows. All the meanwhile, we was being followed by Beauregard the singing whale he had recently recieved from Lab 305. For some reason, though, Beauregard hadn't followed him back to his room and Isi was allowed a rare moment of peace. Lifting up his head from his noveling work, Isi gave a heavy sigh and ran a hand through his white and brown hair.

"Maasi, close the windows," Isi shouted.

No reply.

"MAASI, YOU OLD COOT CLOSE THE WINDOWS."

Still no answer.

Releasing an angry sigh of irritation, Isi lifted himself up from his desk and hobbled over to his crutches. He moved them underneath his arms and then he slowly made his way out of his green themed bedroom. The hallway was cold and Isi thought he could smell the snow...

"MAASI WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Isi screamed. He hobbled out into the living room just in time to watch Old Maasi set Beauregard free into the overcast winter day in the backyard.

"FREAKING FANTASTIC. BEAUREGARD GET BACK HERE." Giving a roar of frustration, Isi stumbled out into the backyard as quick as he could and he tried frantically to call Beauregard back, but the singing red whale was as free as a bird and it floated higher and higher into the air. The cripple boy gave another shout at Maasi, ordered her into her bedroom, locked her up, packed his things into a backpack and ventured outside into the cold of the winter day to search for his missing singing whale. He felt himself developing a melon-sized headache.

Isi sighed.

So he had gone after Beauregard on this mad chase through the countryside and through the city when he ran into a raevan owner, Aphi, and his raevan, Rivener. They had chased the whale all the way up onto the top floor of this building and into a restuarant.

Here are some of the pictures that Riv took.

[RP with Aphismet] CHANCE ENCOUNTERS

Isi returned home late in the night or early in the morning with a still sadated whale underneath his arm. Whichever one. It was about 3 o'clock when he finally hobbled back into his white washed home. The clouds had parted on the long walk, and the air had strangely gotten colder and more freezing than it was before. Isi didn't understand this logic. It was colder without clouds but when there was overcast, it was a bearable temperature. Thanks to Aphismet, Isi wouldn't freeze to death on his way home. He had been soaking wet before because of his crash into the fountain.

Sighing as he jiggled the freezing brass handle of his home door, Isi hobbled awkwardly inside the home and shut the door behind him. It was quiet...That was either a good sign or a bad sign, but it was too early to tell. Swinging his way deeper into the home, Isi sighed in relief as the warm air swept over his body. He had put on the heater so the home was comfy and warm when he arrived. Finally, Beauregard the whale wiggled out of sleep and he opened up his dreary blue eyes. With a flap and flutter of his fins, the whale was up and flying again around the house. His flying wasn't that smooth yet. Th red whale was still semi-asleep so he looked like a drunk...red flying whale.

Isi readjusted himself on his crutches. It was easier for him to use his extra legs now that he didn't have a whale underneath his arm. Listening to the dull 'thunk...thunk' of his walking, Isi made his way to Old Maasi's room and unlocked the door. He heard the soft whir of the sewing machine, so the boy knew she was up still. His grandma must've been waiting for him.

"Alright, you old coot. You can come out now. I'm back safe and sound and I've found the whale. Don't let him out of the house again, okay? He's not something that belongs in the wild."

Before he could get a response from the crazy a** grandma, Isi hobbled away from the door and made his way down the opposite end of the corridor where his bedroom lied. As he stepped into his familiar room, Isi sighed happily, and made his way to his bed. Quickly and clumsily he sat against his bed, leaned down, and took his plaid pajamas out of the drawer and changed. The warm fuzzy feel of his PJs made him feel more comfortable and the boy carefully leaned his crutches near his bed for easy reach in the morning. Leaning back, the tired cripple boy tucked his legs underneath his coverlets and he fell into a blissful, much needed sleep.

"Get up you uncouth, worm!"

Isi jumped up from the bed, his bleary eyes snapped open wide and his whole body shocked out of slumber. There was a stale stench in the air, but Isi was still too bleary headed to try and match the smell to a name. Turning up his head to the person who had so rudely disturbed him from his slumber, Isi growled, "Do you really have to go and disturb me so early in the morning? It's only nine o'clock! I've only slept six hours."

"I SAID GET UP," Old Maasi howled at him. She was wearing an army green and camoflauge commander suit, complete with hat and baton. In one hand she held the baton and in the other she held...

"Maasi!" Isi gasped in shock, "Alchohol? What were you doing? Where did you get that? You know better than to drink alchohol! Give that to me now, Old Maasi!"

The old lady raised the baton threateningly and Isi winced underneath it. His heart was beating frantically in his chest and he raised up his arms to protect himself. There was only one other time that Old Maasi had gotten drunk and Isi didn't want that to reoccur. She had chased him out into the marsh and he lost her in the swamp and hid in the treehouse until she passed out. She only got drunk whenever her equally crazy boyfriend came from the old people's home.

"Maasi? Did that dude come back here? Tell him to stop visiting you! He's on drugs and he's crazy because of the old people's home! Just put down the baton and we can work things out..." Isi pleaded gently, putting his palms in the air as a gesture of peace.

"SHUT UP, SPAGHETTI LEGS," Old Maasi barked and Isi cringed. Her voice was rash and harsh. It was the kind of voice she used when she told Aekeanam war stories. "UP AND FACE YOUR GENERAL LIKE A MAN. WE'VE GOT SERIOUS WORK TO DO. YOU. MOP. DUST PAN. DISHES. HOP TO IT OR I'LL EAT YOUR SPLEEN FOR DINNER."

Scrambling out of his bed, for he knew that Old Maasi wouldn't joke around with him when it came to her being drunk, Isi reached for his crutches. The baton snapped quickly and Isi recoiled his hand in pain, pressing his hurt hand to his stomach, "Maasi!" He begged, hurt displaying in his grey eyes like a show case, "That hurt! Why? Stop it, you're drunk!"

The old lady with her white curls shook her head and her blue eyes blazed with a drunken flame, "NO," She barked again, swaggering after him, "NO CRUTCHES. YOU CAN'T DO WORK WITH THOSE THINGS UNDERNEATH YOUR ARMS. GO. NOW. WE AIN'T HAVE ALL DAY."

Isi scrambled out underneath his grandmother's dangerous gaze and he reached for the nearest handrail to keep him upright. Then he proceeded to be herded down the corridor and barked at all day, forced in military style to do chores. If he attempted to break free or talk Old Maasi into handing over the alchohol or the baton, she would snap at Isi and threaten him again. However, near the end of the day (when the house was officially spotless and freshly cleaned) Isi couldn't take it anymore and he stood up weakly against his grandmother, leaning on the mop for support.

"MAASI, YOU DRUNKEN CODFISH LISTEN. YOU ARE FILTHY DRUNK, YOUR BREATH STINKS AND YOU NEED TO GO TO SLEEP AND WEAR IT ALL OFF BEFORE YOU DO SOMETHING STU-" But the crippled boy wasn't able to finish his warning/demand. Old Maasi had backhanded the boy across the cheek with the ferocity of the war general she pretended to be. Stumbling on his weak legs, Isi collapsed on the slippery wet floor and reached up instinctively for his cheek. It burned and he could feel it pulse with hurt. Isi turned furious tearing grey eyes upon his grandmother and he pulled himself up again from the floor. Taking the mop he was using as a temporary crutch, the white and brown haired boy leaned with all his strength into the cleaning utensil and pushed Old Maasi into her bedroom doorway that just happened to be right behind her. The old lady fell onto her bed that was near the door and she stuttered wildly with anger. Taking his chance, Isi snatched the alchohol away from her hands, and he retreated from the room and locked the door. Moments later, the insistant beating of fists could be heard upon the wooden planks.

Breathing hard with tears in his stormy eyes, Isi turned away from his grandma's door and stumbled weakly and clumsily down the hallway to his bedroom. As he passed the kitchen, he tossed the alchohol into the trash can. Good thing she was a cleanliness freak. She'd never look or even TOUCH there.

His cheek was red and swollen where she had hit him and it still burned with hurt. It wouldn't be long before Old Maasi broke down the door and Isi was determined to be far and away from this house when it happened. She wouldn't dare leave the property, so Isi wasn't worried about her. All he wanted to do was get out and get far away until she calmed down and slept off all that drunken stupor. Crashing into his bedroom, Isi stumbled and fell upon the floor. Without a moment's lapse, the boy picked himself up again and reached for his crutches and his travel backpack. Good thing he never unpacked the necessities he put in there. Hoisting the backpack over his shoulders, Isi fixed his crutches underneath his arms and made his way out of the home by using the backdoor in his bedroom.

There was only one place he knew that he could go at a time like this in the evening and judging by his pace, Isi thought that he'd get there by midnightish. He would have to make it Aphismet's house as soon as possible and stay there for as long as he was welcome and as long as it would take for Old Maasi to sleep off her drunkness.

As he made his way out onto the open road and the chill evening air, Isi felt the angry hurt tear he had been holding inside him slip and roll down his swollen cheek.

Hospitals.

Isi hated hospitals. He didn't like their smell, their look, the scent of death, decay, and disease all over the place. Not only that, but the blankets where thin and Isi didn't want to think about how many dead bodies have lied underneath the ones he was wrapped in. Luckily enough, he had Aphi with him for the first day or two to keep him company. To help pass the time, they did everything from playing cards, to telling scary stories, and planning the future. Soon, though, Aphi had to leave the hospital to go take care of Riv and go back to work. So, Isi was left alone to his own devices in the hospital and all he did then was sleep, rest, and listen to the frightening cries of desperate hurting people as they were rushed by his room to the emergency room just a corridor or two down.

Thankfully, after a week of being in the white hell, Isi was finally allowed to go home with Aphi. So that he wasn't alone while healing, he was taken to the apartment where he could tended to and watched over. Isi was grateful. He didn't want to be alone and staying at Aphi's place, even though he was permanently stationed on the couch, would be a much better alternative than staying alone at his home. He enjoyed watching Riv take pictures of everything and liked having someone sane to talk to. The boy was so grateful that often he found himself getting close to tears whenever he went to sleep, listening to the breathing of the people around him. However, when he went to sleep, he frequently had nightmares of Old Maasi dropping him out of the window and he would jolt awake, irritate his leg and lay awake for half an hour before he could convince himself to fall asleep again.

That's where he stayed for the entire month of January.

During the late day and evening, Aphismet was gone at work. So it was just Riv, Beau, and Isi at the apartment. At first, Isi just tried to sleep all day while Beau and Riv did their thing or painted. Then, after a while, Isi remembered that he needed to thank Riv for saving him. So, calling the frei over, the crippled boy smiled and expressed his gratitude. If he hadn't attacked Old Maasi and sedated her, then Isi had a feeling that he'd still be in the hospital if she had the chance to do what she really WANTED to do. He was sure that being dropped out of the second story window was probably better than the other thing her senile mind had in store for him. Riv had simply smiled and nodded his head and Isi took that as a cue to continue. He had said,

"So, did Aphi tell you? We're family now. All four of us! You, Aphi, me and Beau, we're going to be living together. In a week or two, we're going to move in to my home near the marsh. Aren't you excited?"

Isi deeply regretted those words. For a moment, Isi watched as the smile melted away from Rivener's cheeks and he sat back in his chair. He began to fume and a moment afterwards, before Isi could say anything else, Riv exploded! Isi gave out a cry as the hot air and licks of fire blasted upon his body and threw Beauregard into a wall. All Isi could figure out was that there were certain things inside the fire that were on fire and he panicked. He couldn't get up to do anything!

Shrieking, the boy had begged Riv to stop the fire as he frantically patted the flames from his blankets. Thankfully, Riv was able to put out the fire using his temporary powers.

[12:25:26] << Beau: @0@? *calms down*

[12:26:00] << Isi: Riv? What just happened? I must've said something wrong...Are you afraid to move?
[12:26:17] >> RIV: Leavemealone. *snaps*
[12:26:33] << Isi: What's wrong?
[12:26:48] >> Riv: *starts to smoke again* LEAVE ME ALONE!
[12:30:02] << Isi: I'm just trying to help, Riv!
[12:30:52] >> Riv: *turns dark frown to other* Look, I just wanna be alone okay?!

[12:32:16] >> Riv: *blinks and looks back at Beau and whispers* No, you can stay... I like you lots, Beau. You're my friend. You comfort me.
[12:32:30] << Isi: Okay, okay, I'll leave you alone. I'm sorry for saying something wrong. *can't really move from couch, so looks away instead*
[12:32:47] << Beau: 8D *squirms happily*
[12:32:56] >> Riv: *pouts and pets Beau*

Soon after, a panicking Aphi returned to the home to find it charred and some of the walls blackened.

The craze of the explosion had irritated Isi's lungs and he laid upon the couch for some while, coughing up the smoke he had inhaled as his ribs continued to heal and his leg continued to mend as best as it could. Now Isi didn'y say much to Riv, frightened that he would explode again. He had learned better and he didn't want to run the change of getting singed again. Thankfully though, after 3 days or so after Isi's arrival, the raevan's newfound powers melted away and Isi felt himself more at ease.

Then Aphi and Riv began packing the apartment away into boxes and Isi felt useless as he watched everyone work around him. If he hadn't broke his leg and ribs, then couldn't been able to help somehow. Even Beauregard was helping them move! He would carry light weight things in his mouth, drop them into boxes, and zoom off again for more lightweight things. BeauBeau liked to help Aphi pack since Riv wouldn't let anyone near him. Isi watched from the couch, feeling utterly useless and rather like a burden.

They would be moving in a day.
