[.:Journal #5:..: Baby:.] Work Cleaning the house today I have realized that eventually I'm going to have to go back to my work. I mean its not like I'm on leave or anything, I'm a commissioned worker for those who suffer a deficit in language understanding.
I was hired to come to this town to help a company out with its oversea business partners. Yet I have been spending all this time with Artemis, I have not done anything outside of this house and HQ beyond shop.
Needless to say I'm running low on money. So I need to work. Artemis is sleeping, so I feel I can write this. I am concerned of how I would do work without abandoning Artemis.
I can just image me bringing in the little baby girl into a corporate meeting, Mr. Tsoumada getting on the jumbo-tron ready for me to translate and Artemis starts crying. What do I do then? There is a reason why children do not accompany their parents to work except on a designated day when they are older than a baby.
That's what Artemis is. She's only a baby. She can't take care of herself, she can't be left alone. She needs attention; she needs care all the time. This usually puts children into daycare like situations. A nanny, a baby sitter, a home run daycare, a corporate day care, and heaven forbid, the Y.M.C.A.
None of these options feel possible for me. Artemis isn't yet old enough to be without me, especially with that happened to her to be placed in my care. Maybe if there is a way I could work on my work here at home and send it to the office for now.
I hope they understand, they are some of my best employers. I will call them up right now and see. Wish me luck!

[. razz rivate RP #3:..: Baby:.] Library- Umbra, Pukio and Faeyas Faeyas Ari brough in the lively Artemis in her arms, "Mommy needs to look uip somthing, would you like a book Art?"
"Bah looo..." Artemis Giggled. Ari smiled as she went to the childrens books, and pulled out a small stiff paged book with little puppies inside. she, for a moment, sat Artemis in her carrier. She laid out Artemis's blanket on the ground and Lupus and put the book on top before placing Artemis on the blanket.
"I will be really quick, don't go anywhere ok sweetie?" And Ari went to the near by shelf to start looking for the book she needed.
Her work had allowed her to do some of her work while at home until Artemis could be baby sat. This work required her to look up something and without a computer, the cold Library of Head Quarters was her best bet. Pukio Tovar didn't usually have much use for libraries -- the ones beyond the large room stuffed with books in Michael's house, anyway. However, seeing as the older sorcerer had currently comandeered (and locked) their personal library, he found himself resorting to different methods.
And as much as he would have preffered the public library, Tovar wouldn't have even known where to start somewhere that big; at least here, in a semi-private library of the shop's headquarters, he had a little less space and fewer books (though, the number was still impressive) to shift through.
Even so, he wasn't really looking forward to it. Not for the first time, Tovar quietly wished Michael kept a computer - or technology of any sort, really. Then again, Michael always said books and first hand accounts were the only things to be trusted when doing research.
Sighing, cooped up in a corner of the library, Tovar pulled a heavily bound book of the shelf. Stuffed in the back pocket of his jeans, the wand made a faint dark spot where the condensation of river water seeped slowly into the thick denim. ladyumbra "A Book for Zah a book for Zah purple Zah a book for zah'" Kishi sang as she followed after her father. They'd just returned home after a shopping trip whe're she'd bought her flowerkitten a new collar and her some colouring books. Now they were going to the library to find a book for Zah her favorite friend. " A book about Zah, well his kind anyways" Malen corrected. He'd promised to babysit the young drow for Neveah that weekened and he wanted to be prepared. He was postive the butterfly woman had foudn books on drow in the library before so that was the best place to look other than bothering Talon and last he'd heard from her the woman was up to ears in sick kids. Upon entering the library he spotted a young woman and baby he'd never met before " Well hello there" he said softly so as not to startle them. Faeyas Ari jerked her head up, her attention pulled from her books, to look at the man and the toddle at his side. The girl seemed preoccupied with a melody in her head, but the man had addressed her. "Hello." She smiled, setting down the book in her hands in such a way to keep her page as she extended her hand for the greeting. "I'm Ariel." she smiled at the baby girl who found slamming the book down on her blanket while giggling far more entertaining then just looking at it, "This is Artemis." She finished the introduction. Pukio Tovar shifted where he stood, pausing a moment to quirk his head slightly to one side and listen hard and the buzz of the air conditioning unit somewhere over head. He could have sworn--
Ah, yes; voices. He must have been here longer than he'd thought, he could have sworn the headquarters' library had been empty when he'd first found his way there. Tucking the current book in his hands absently under one arm, the chesnut haired young man carefully inched his way to the end of the bookshelves and toward the voices, peering curiously around the corner toward the other inhabitants of the library.
"Must be other guardians," he murmured absently, unconsciously tinkering with the dog-eared pages of the book under his arm. Faeyas The attention of the man appeared to have wandered off, so Ari shurgged and went back to shifting through her book to find what she had come to look for. She winces as a repetitive tapping sound came from what she would guess was one playing with the cover of a book with real pages.
This left Artemis out completly.
Ari hated when she didn't know if someone was around so she called out, "Is anyone else here?" Pukio Tovar started at the sudden outburst, nearly dropping the book out from under his arm. Quickly taking a firmer grip on the volume, the young man edged out into the open and offered the group a faint smile.
"Ah, yes. I'm here." And he could only assume he was included in the broad range of 'anyone.' "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to...ease drop or anything." It was just a little difficult to not. As many books as there were in the room, the voices hadn't been completely absorbed in the pages and the hard shelves they were stacked on.
Ah well; it wasn't as if he didn't have a valid excuse to be there. Faeyas "Of course," Ari smiled at new comer, "No, I was merely cautious of another presence." Ari couldn't help but blush. She was a very paranoid person when it came to a room she was in, especially one that she had no control over.
Artemis had crawled over to Ari and was hitting her hands on Ari's lap. This meant she wanted to be picked up, and paid attention to. Ari lifted up the baby girl and looked back at the man who had appeared, "This is Artemis," She smiled, presenting her charge. "Who are you?" she asked curious. ladyumbra Malen who'd been momentarily sidetracked by trying to ignore a sudden muscle spasm had completely missed what had been going on around him the last few minutes. He'd simply stood off to the side concentrating on willing the pain away and trying not to look in too much pain in front of Kishi for fear of worrying her. Now able to pay attention he smiled from his potion on the wall " Artemis hmm? I'll have to tell Kierla there's another wand child running about with a greek mythology thing going on." Kishi walked over Ari streched to her tip toes to get closer to artimis " Hi ." The other child seemed interesting enough despite lacking wings or anything purpel that she could see. Pukio "I'm Tovar," he answered smoothly, shrugging slightly with one shoulder. He was getting alot better at introducing himself to complete strangers on a random basis - meeting people seemed to happen quite a bit once you had children from these...association things. He paused a moment, and then continued with the explination, in case simply his name wasn't what the woman had been interested in.
"I'm a guardian. Another one, apparently - I didn't know there were so many of these..." He hesitated. "Wands." It might be offensive to the other two to pander slightly with the word. Besides, he couldn't be sure all the wands looked like a lump of driftwood. Faeyas Ari smiled to the both of them, "Its very nice to meet both of you." She loved meeting new guardians, despite her need to find this book she figured she could waste a moment. "So what brings you both to the Library beyond the obvious?" While Ari was making small chat with the adults, Artemis decided the new girl was cute and fun.
Upon the little girl with wings greeting Artemis immediatly wiggled to get over to her. Ari put the wiggling Artemis down on the ground where she proceeded to crawl twords the girl with wings. Artemis lifted one hand, delicatly balancing on three limbs she shook her hand around in the attempt of a wave as she made babbling noise, "Gyah pfft bya!" Artemis finished with a giggle. Pukio Tovar frowned slightly, trying to think of a remotely intelligent way to answer the question. He hadn't been aware there was any reason but the obvious to come to a library...
"Looking for...a book on Kelpies," he explained absently. That probably wasn't what she wanted to know, but he honestly couldn't think of any other answer to offer. Ah well - it was the truth, at least. ladyumbra " It's a pleasure to meet you to and I'm just prepping for some babysitting I'm going to do." Malen stated watchign Kishi with amusment, it pleased him that she was capable of beign gentle when playign with others. Kishi smiled at Artemis amused by the greeting "you're cute I like you" she said with a firm nod of her head. Kneeling to lessen the height difference kishi placed her wand on the floor beside her and waited for Artemis to make another move, she looked very gentle not the type to play hard like zah or the funny pink wisp so she wasn't sure what do do with her. Faeyas "I'm here looking for a book for work." Ari explained, feeling it only natural to explain her own presence. "It’s nice to meet both of you." She smiled up at the two from her position on the ground.
Artemis decided to crawl closer to the girl with wings, putting her hand down she wiggled and crawled her way over to the girl, and then lifted herself up to pat the girl's knees with her hands. Artemis continued to babble and giggle at the interesting looking female who she found nice. Pukio Tovar nodded in agreement, offering the both of them a swift grin that trickled down to the younger children before his features slipped back into a friendly, but relatively passive expression. After a moment or so of hesitation, he cleared his throat and inched a little closer to the cluster of children and their guardians.
"If you don't me me asking...-- are those your children? From here, I mean. Er." Great; he was being oh so eloquent. Way to make an impression, Tovar. "I mean, the ones from the wands? I'm a bit...Frankly, the only child I have came as a kid, not from an object."
One would think Tovar, being a magic worker and an apprentice, would be used to this sort of 'souls in inatimate objects' sort of thing, and maybe he was; he just wasn't quite so used to them being children. Once dead children. That would be coming out again, perfectly alive. ladyumbra "It is a pleasure to meet both of you" Malen said " and yes Kishi is a ghost of the past" He motion'd with his head towards her wand " They grow in size as the children do so be prepared for a child running about smackign you with it if you end up with a hyper one." Malen considerd himself fortunate in the fact that despite Kishi's tendency to use her wand as a weapon he'd never been struck by it. Kishi placed her hands over the other girls and was amazing at the size differnce. It was hard for her to imagine being that small not too long ago.Flapping her wings gently she created the tiniest of winds to blow at Artemis. Faeyas "Really? They grow? Interesting..." Ari looked at the small hand held wand that was Artemis's. She couldn't imagine it bigger, but she supposed as it was linked to Artemis that it too must grow. "Oh, sorry..." she smiled at the man who had asked about Artemis's origin, "Yes she is from here, I got her as a baby though, so I can't say I know much about the wand stages in her life."
Artemis had stopped patting the girl’s legs, as her arms were being held down and a nice soft breeze was coming from the wings. Artemis giggled, liking the feeling of moving air on her face; she chirped in glee and continues to giggle. She shut her eyes, mind of as a reflex for keeping them most, but also because it felt right. Artemis liked this girl. Pukio Nodding thoughtfully, Tovar studied the two children thoughtfully. The wand...grew? From what little he'd read on Kelpies, Tovar wasn't sure how keen he was to having a small kelpie boy running around with a weapon other than whatever abilities the child was born with. The thought was...a little frightening. As it was, Tovar was already planning to put some sort of caution tape on the perimeter of the small brook on Michael's property. --Or something like that.
He found himself chewing the inside of his cheek and forced himself to stop.
Suffice to say, this child was probably going to be a way bigger handful than little Etain. Unicorns and Kelpies were two completely different, er, horses. ladyumbra Malen eyed Ari, she'd missed out on the wand stages of Artemis's life, how unfortunate, as far as Malen was concerned the wand stages especially the wisp and baby host stages where the time when parent and child truly bonded the most." It's a pity you didn't get to enjoy her before she became a baby, though I'm sure you will make the most of what is to come." Malen had no words for Tovar, the man seemed quiet like Lithle. Kishi smiled down at the baby on her and began to hum a lullabye that she liked her father to sing to her. While the words were in another language and she didn't understand it to sing it the melody was soothing and pleasent. Faeyas Ari smiled up at Malen, "I don't mind, Artemis and I are getting along fine. She looked down to the book in her hands and let a small laugh escape, "Imagine that," She held up the book, "This is what I was looking for."
Artemis began to grow sleepy, music always had a nice effect on her, and she seemed to love it a great deal. Even the most simplest of lullaby's seemed to lure her to sleep. she cooed a yawn and laid her head on Kishi's lap. Kishi was nice. Pukio Consciously, Tovar's fingers drifting to the wand in his back pocket. For some reason, given Malen's words, he felt like perhaps he should be paying more attention to the slightly damp...stick. Oh, he had it in his pockjet but he didn't really chat with it or anything. A slight frown tilting at the corners of his mouth, Tovar pulled his fingers away from the wand and began turning the book that had been under his arm over in his hands. Come to think of it, this book seemed to be the one he'd needed too...
"Huh, imagine tha--"
A sudden crackling noise punctured Tovar's words, and he quickly put the book aside, pulling the necklace tucked into his shirt out into the open. A small drop-shaped pendant hung on the cord and hissed at him. "Tovar, your damn kid is being obnoxi--Hey, don't do that!" the crystal spat and fizzed, sounding only remotely like the man on the other side, using it to communicate.
Tovar pursed his lips for a moment, frowning darkly. "Alright, I'll come home then." Grimacing, he stuffed the pendant back down the front of his shirt and glanced apologetically between Ari and Malen. "I'm sorry, I think...the house is going to hell in a hand basket; I should probably be going." ladyumbra Malen laughed and nodded to Tovar " By all means to save your house and comrade from child induced danger." Malen knew he'd end up having other chances to meet this strange guardian so it was no loss that their meeting had been cut short. Turning his attention to Ari he grinned " Congrats hoepfully it will be of help to you or at least an interesting read." Kishi looked down at artemis and grinned, she'd tamed the other girl much like her kitten tamed her.She wondered of Artemis would visit a lot when she got bigger so they could really play, however for now she was content to hum and let the other girl rest on her. Faeyas "Hope to see you again, and if you need this book here is my number, I'll have it for a couple of nights." Ari handed him a card and gave a wave to Tovar as her prepeared to leave to save his house from chaos. She then turned to Malen, "Interesting indeed, there is some data in here I need to translate for a local consulate." She flipped through the pages, still wondering why this data needed to be translated. Ari looked over at Artemis, "Appears Kishi and Artemis are getting along quite well," she smiled. Artemis seemed to be getting along well with her, which was definitely a good thing. Pukio Taking both the card and their dismissals with a thankful smile, Tovar offered them a last "Very pleased to meet you; hope to see you again," before adjusting the book under his arm more comfortably and taking his leave of the library.
People to go, places to see; houses to save from imminent destruction, and research to be done. ladyumbra Malen nodded " So far Kishi hasn't met any ghosts of the past she doesn't like which is odd but nice." Malen didn't look foreward to finding out which children she would eventually end up disliking, in a semi close community like the one the guardians would likely form their children's friend preferences could end up affecting the adults in several ways. Faeyas "Artemis has liked the one's she's met I believe, except for this one baby ghost which made her cry." Ari thought about Artemis and her other encounters with the other ghostly children. "She is either very serene or is just really upset normally so its often really hard to tell. I think she might just be curious..."
Artemis wiggled out of the drowsy state, and began to giggle again as she reached up twords the winged girl. ladyumbra "I'm going to go with really serene , she seems like a rather peaceful baby. In my experince I've come to belive that up until about age seven babies and children are obsessively interested in other moving objects, then they enter school and the they have to start adhering to socitiess rules. Girls and boys socialise seperatly and begin to mold themsleves into there gender sterotypes." Malen shook his head slight, he found the notion very disturbing. Kishi reached out and gently poked the awakening girls nose. There was no reason for it other than to see what would happen. Faeyas Artemis looked up at the girl who had poked her. She didn’t like being poked. But the idea remained in her mind just a moment before she realized the girl had such HUGE HANDS! Artemis had to grab one, and grab one she did, before she started to bang it up and down on the girls knee giggling.
Ari chuckled at the image, “Artemis and gender stereotypes? Maybe…But she already seems more boyish then what I would imagine a girl would be like…” She too hated gender labels, but for the most part preferred to show such dislike rather than simply saying it. She lifted the book in her hands, She did work abroad, a high paid translator, no one could claim she was a typical woman, let alone mom. ladyumbra Kishi allowed her hand to be moved by the baby beside her, it didn't hurt and it made a nice almost clap like sound. She too giggled " you are very fun" She stated firmly. Malen eyed the book and then the playing children " Do you need to go? " he figured she like many had breifly stopped by to grab something and be on their way. So few guardians seemd to have time to stick around and chat these days. Faeyas Ari sighed, “I do, I need to start translating this right away…” She looked over at the two girls, “I but I would hate to interrupt their fun…”
Artemis enjoyed the compliment from the girl with wings, she was nice. She halted hitting the girls hand on her lap in order to use it to pull herself up. Artemis sometimes acted like a cat in how much she enjoyed climbing onto things. Ari couldn’t complain, it was after all building the babe’s muscles. ladyumbra Malen smiled " It's ok I'm sure they'll meet again soon and maybe all this play will have tired Kishi out enough to nap." Kishi looked at her friend confused but didn't try to stop her. She wasn't used to being climbed on by others but she remebered climbing on others when she was little so it was only fair she not fight it. Faeyas Artemis managed to make to Kishi's lap there, keeping with being a cat, Artemis simply fell asleep. Daytime wasn't really her energetic time and Artemis tended to grow sleepy easily during it.
"It appears Artemis is already tired." Ari chuckled and put the book in her sack before going over to Kishi to pick up the sleeping baby. "Gomen, but I don't think you want her nap on you," Ari smiled, "thank you for playing with her." Ari looked over at the man she had been talking to. "I think Artemis would enjoy seeing her again, so hopefully that time comes soon." She tucked Artemis into her carrier and bowed to the both of them, "I was lovely to meet you both." ladyumbra Kishi grinned and waved " Bye an, come back soon." She had enjoyed playing with the other even if she had been a sleepy other. Malen nodded " It was a pleasure meeting you, I hope to see you again in the near future." Faeyas Ari smiled and taking one hand off the carrier, she waved. She quickly replaced the hand as Artemis wasn’t unbreakable, and walked from the library back to her room. It was a fair walk and the evening was cool. Ari enjoyed meeting new people, and the headquarters seemed just the place to do so.
Artemis slept until the moon rose, but that was another story.

[.:Scrapbook #5:..: Baby:.] Riddle Song Lullaby sung to Artemis:
The Riddle Song
I gave my love a cherry that has no stone, I gave my love a chicken that has no bone, I gave my love a ring that has no end, I gave my love a baby with no cryen.
How can there be a cherry that has no stone? How can there be a chicken that has no bone? How can there be a ring that has no end? How can there be a baby with no cryen?
A cherry, when it's blooming, it has no stone, A chicken when it's pipping, it has no bone, A ring when it's rolling, it has no end, A baby when it's sleeping, has no cryen.

[.:Scrapbook #6:..: Baby:.] Cold It started as a simple sneeze in the middle of the night, waking Artemis out of a sound sleep into a crying fit. Ari moaned, her limbs tired and aching as she rolled off her bed onto a pile of clothing on the floor. Slowly she stood up, using her will to encourage her knees to lift her body into a standing position.
Ari couldn’t make her feet go right in front of her for all her thought power and concentration, it seemed that someone has snuck in, in the middle of the night, and had exchanged her feet for boulders. She stumbled and wobbled her way to Artemis’s crib. More often then not Ari found herself thinking, why am I side ways…before having to take a step backwards and throw her hand to a wall for balance.
Ari should be used to getting up in the middle of the night for Artemis, but the truth was that when Ari slept, she slept. Her entire body shut itself down, and needless to say, her reboot drive was a little lacking. Despite the aerobatics to the crib Ari made it there in time to pick up the small baby, find out what was wrong, and sing her to sleep again.
As her hands touched the little baby they pulled back quickly. It wasn’t that Ari was afraid of touching the baby, but the simplest touch seemed to warm for Ari to hold. Braving the heat she lifted Artemis out of the crib and looked her over.
Ari was amazed at how pale she was. Mind you pale for Artemis means she resembled a ghost. Which, Ari found horribly amusing, she did. It seemed that Artemis wanted to vanish again, but appeared as though she was too weak to do so. Her skin was white as snow and her temperature was way too high.
“How did this come on so fast?” Ari mumbled to herself scared. Of course she knew how it came on fast; she was just surprised that Artemis had managed to catch a cold in the middle of July. But Artemis was a baby, and just like every other part of her body, her immune system was still developing. She couldn’t easily fight off a cold when it first entered her body like older humans could. Concerned Ari carried Artemis against her and brought her to the kitchen, putting her in her chair. Ari slipped a thermometer under Artemis’s little arm, which caused a cry of displeasure from the baby.
As Ari had feared her temperature was ninety nine degrees. Quickly Ari made up some instant formula and called the doctors office. “Sorry our normal hours of operation are-.” Ari hung up. “Not now apparently,” she muttered and called the hospital instead.
“Hello, St. Durem’s Hospital, please state the current symptoms and age of the patient.” A practiced woman’s voice entered the receiver of the telephone.
“High fever, pale –.” Ari felt Artemis’s forehead, “Clammy skin,” Artemis let out another sneeze and began to cry. “Sneezing,” Ari spoke louder, to ensure she was heard over the crying, “She hasn’t turned one yet.” She explained for the age, “She’s only about eight months old.” The woman asked a few more questions, pertaining mainly to names and medical insurance, then asked Ari to kindly hold while they transferred her to the pediatrics wing. It took a moment before the line was picked up.
“This is Dr. Hayward,” He introduced himself, “Ma’am from the symptoms sent over to me while you were being transferred I’m afraid I must ask you to check a few more things for me before we can decide if we need to see Artemis in here tonight.” Ari agreed. “First, I want you to check to see if she’ll eat anything.”
“Alright,” Ari answered, “Mind if I set you down? I just made her a bottle.”
“Go ahead.” The doctor seemed in no hurry, a trait Ari found calming about the situation. She went over to the counter and picked up the formula, perfect temperature. Ari walked over to Artemis and picked her up and attempted to feed her the formula like she normally does.
Artemis kept crying and waving her hands at the bottle as she twisted her face around. She wasn’t eating right now and that seemed final. Ari picked back up the phone and relayed the information to the doctor. The doctor took a moment to record the data. “Now Ma’am I need you to check her diaper, tell me if her waste appears runny, or discolored.”
Ari once again asked to put down the phone before she ran to check the diaper. She sat Artemis down on the soft floor like she was just changing her diaper. She examined the insides and there appeared to be more liquid, brown like, soaked up into it. Ari quickly finished changing the diaper, and brought Artemis back to her chair. Once again she relayed the information.
“Yes, Ma’am I think Artemis has caught a rather nasty cold, and for a child of her age its not as innocent an illness as it would normally be, I need to ask you to bring her in so I can fully diagnose her and get her on some medicine right away.” The doctor grabbed a few more vital information points from Ari before ending the call.
Ari had already known it was a cold, and she had already known that it wasn’t good for a baby of Artemis’s age to have. However she respected the doctor and the hospital enough to allow them to work out their own diagnosis, since they obviously couldn’t see Artemis themselves.
Ari dressed Artemis in warm clothing and tucked her into her carrier, covering Artemis with her blanket and placing her wand in with her, hoping the magic connection of the wand would give the baby girl enough strength for now.
The warm temperature was a blessing as Ari carried Artemis to the car, and the late night empty streets aided in the quick arrival to the hospital. Ari spent no time figuring out the direction she needed to go inside the hospital to end up in the Pediatric wing. Dr. Hayward awaited their arrival.
“First we need to run a few checks on her if you’ll follow me to the check up room.” He took off and Ari followed him. It was twist after turn and Ari felt that half the privacy attendants in the hospital received was just from the fact that no one could manage their way to them without a guide. The hospital smell always bothered Ari, it smelled of sickness and age, occasionally death. The last was the thing that bothered her the most. Ari hated death, and with Artemis running her fever it was something Ari felt close indeed, although she fought it off with her mind. Artemis will be fine, this doctor knows what he is doing, he will cure her… Became her mental mantra.
They finally entered the room and the doctor removed Artemis’s blanket and pulled out Artemis. The small babe had fallen into an exhausted slumber during the drive to the hospital and was currently out like a light. In her fist, held tight was her wand.
The doctor gazed at the item unsure, “Is this her rattle?” he asked, his finger caressing the pointed tips of the crescent concerned.
“No.” Ari answered, unsure on how he would take this, “It’s her wand, and it’s bonded to her and her to it. I thought it might give her some strength if she had it.” Ari explained and the doctor looked at her like she was mad.
“See these points here?” he pointed to the tips of the wand, “They are pointed, and can potentially harm Artemis if they are not sanded down.” He gently sat Artemis back into her carrier and removed the wand from her grasp. This simple action seemed to be enough of a trigger to wake the sleeping child. Fits and screams filled the room and the hall ways about.
Artemis, scared of the person who took her precious wand away instantly vanished. Ari sighed, grateful that the baby was still in her carrier, or maybe the doctor would have been shocked into dropping her. Ari braved the sound on her poor ears and lifted the invisible child out of her carrier and held her close, rocking Artemis in her arms. The doctor looked on in mild fear.
“She vanishes if she’s scared,” Ari explained. The Doctor hadn’t moved. Artemis calmed down slowly and came to reappear soon afterwards; but the doctor hadn’t moved a muscle. “She’s sick doctor.” Ari spoke sternly, “And if you keep that up she’ll be in a worse situation, she just used up a lot of energy, she needs your medicine, snap out of it!”
The doctor shook his head, “She just-.” He stuttered.
“Vanished, yes.” Ari sat Artemis, who was sleeping again, and taking deep struggling breaths, back into her carrier. Ari bent over and took her wand from the doctor’s stunned form and gave it back to Artemis. If the Doctor wasn’t going to move she was taking things to someone else who was. Stepping out side the room she shouted, “My baby is very sick and the doctor went into shock I need a nurse and another doctor in here STAT!” Her voice echoed off the walls of the night filled hospital. Hospitals never sleep so there was a nurse and doctor running to her room as soon as she yelled.
She stepped aside as the nurse and doctor went over to their respected patients. The doctor started to run the tests that the other doctor was going to start, and the nurse knelt beside the now rocking doctor, who kept muttering the word vanished. The male nurse put the doctor’s arm around his shoulder as he lifted him up and escorted him out.
“Sorry about that.” The new doctor explained. He seemed to have just finished the tests and was extending his had to her, “I’m Doctor Michaels,” He introduced himself as Ari shook his hand. “As her report so far states she has a cold, the tests I just ran tell me that her immune system isn’t kicking in like it should, I need to transfer her to another room with a life support while I get some medicine in her.” Ari nodded and then realized something that could lose her a second doctor.
“Don’t take the wand out of her hands,” Ari warned, the baby was indeed holding on tightly to her wand with both hands now, “I know it looks harmful but it really isn’t, It gives her strength.”
The doctor smiled at Ari, “I know, most children have a toy like that. Now if you’d follow me?” He led them down the hall and two more turns to a larger room. The carrier seemed to be the best place to keep Artemis as he hooked her up to a monitor. “I need you to wake her up for me and feed her this.” He had poured some medicine into a small spoon and held it for Ari as she woke Artemis up.
Ari hummed softly and rocked Artemis before softly calling to her. The gentle words seemed to bring the baby’s eyes open, but the harsh light discouraged them from opening fully. Ari took the spoon from the doctor and hushed Artemis, “Now I need you to take this Artemis, its good for you. Like the small amounts of baby food she was feeding Artemis, she held the spoon before Artemis’s mouth. Artemis opened her mouth just enough that the spoon would fit in. When she closed her mouth Ari gently pulled the spoon away, leaving the medicine in Artemis to be swallowed. A big gulp and a screwed up face told Ari she had swallowed it.
The doctor took the spoon and put it into the bio hazard trash bin before taking the drowsy Artemis from Ari’s arms. “Now we will get her hooked up the monitors, the medicine should kick in here soon, and it will put her to sleep so she wont be wasting any of her energy,” The doctor explained as he sat Artemis back in her carrier and placed the metal circles with strings to her chest, arms and temples. Artemis, as the doctor has said, was in a deep sleep within moments. The many green and black screens beeped and constantly updated Artemis’s heart rate, blood oxygen levels, along with many other stats, such as brain activity.
The doctor looked at Ari’s extremely concerned face, “It’ll be alright,” He placed a hand on her shoulder, “Babies can’t fight colds by themselves, but you acted quick enough that she’ll be fine once the medicine starts working.” He took a seat beside her, “Most parents disregard colds in babies until the cold has had time to get into the child’s full system, and it’s much harder to fight at that point. You made a good choice in calling us as soon as the fever hit and in getting her in here tonight.”
Ari nodded, but her eyes couldn’t leave Artemis’s tiny form. The doctor knew she got his words, and understood that as any parent would be, she was concerned. He stood up and pointed to a small monitor that was connected to a circle under Artemis’s right arm, “This monitors her internal temperature. Once the fever breaks she can go home.” Ari gave another nod. “You may stay here until then, a nurse will come in every five minutes to check and record her vitals, should anything looks suspicious, we’ll take immediate action, but I doubt anything will.” He patted Ari on the shoulder and then left the room.
An hour had passed, Ari knew this not due to a clock, as she couldn’t see one with her eyes always on Artemis, but from the fact that a nurse had come in twelve times since the doctor had left. If they were doing so every five minutes like the doctor had said, then it had been sixty minutes, one hour.
Artemis’s temperature had bobbled up and down worse then a fish lure in an ocean. Ari watched as it feel in hope, and grew depressed when it rose again. “That’s a sign she’s starting to break it.” One nurse had told her with a smile, “If she keeps this up it should be broken here in just a little bit.”
A little bit had turned into twenty plus minutes until Artemis’s temperature was stabilizing at a normal temperature. It took two more shifts of nurses before Doctor Michaels came back in to announce that Artemis had fought off the worse of it. The baby girl was sweating since she had broken her fever, and she still looked utterly exhausted. The doctor seemed to notice this too.
“It might be best if she stayed for a bit longer, until she regains her strength.” He said with an apologetic look on his face, “I don’t want either of you to risk her being too tired that she falls into relapse.”
“I understand Doctor.” Ari yawned. She hadn’t slept much at all before Artemis had woken her up, and she had been forcing herself awake and alert to take care of Artemis. The doctor seemed to realize this with a knowing smile.
“We can’t have you catching her cold either, Ms Mason.” He nodded to a nurse who walked over to Ari with a smile.
“If you don’t mind waiting I can bring a cot in here for you to sleep on,” The female nurse suggested with a smile. “Or we could bring you to another room, but the Doctor would like you to rest, you’ve had a long night and you won’t be doing Artemis any good if you get sick too.”
Ari found it pointless to argue with the nurse and the doctor with how tired she was, so she mumbled, “Just the cot,” with a yawn. The nurse took a rotation and a half to get the cot in the room for Ari to lie on. She even brought a blanket and a pillow. The nurse remained as Ari lay down until she was asleep, least as far as Ari knew.
Giggling and pffting woke Ari out of a fit sleep. It was time for Artemis’s first bottle of the day. Ari yawned and pulled off her covers to get out of her bed…
She wasn’t in her room. It took her a minute or less to come to the realization that this wasn’t home, and to remember why she was here. “Good morning Ms Mason.” A nurse greeted her from Artemis’s bed where she was feeding the baby her first bottle.
“Is Artemis?”
“All better Ma’am. The doctor needs you to sign a few papers regarding your insurance and your stay, and then he say’s you two are free to check out.” She smiled as she pulled the bottle from Artemis’s mouth to allow her to breathe and giggle before she was allowed to suck on it again. She seemed to be absolutely glowing, the color had returned to her face and she seemed so happy.
Ari quickly went over the papers, ensuring that she filled them out correctly and accurately. When she had finished Artemis was done eating, and the nurse had tucked her into her carrier. Artemis was shaking her wand up and down and was giggling up a storm.
Ari walked over and smiled at her, “How about it Artemis? Shall we go home?” with a loud coo of agreement Ari picked up her carrier and thanked the nurse. Ari dropped off her forms with the doctor at the main desk as she checked Artemis out.
“She was a good patient,” the doctor complemented. Ari simply thanked him, smiled and waved as they made their way out of the hospital and back home.

[.:Journal #6:..: Baby:.] Recovery Its been one week since the cold, Artemis was kind slow for the first few days after, but has picked it up. I believe she is fully recovered as I just gave her, her last dose of medicine and she has been crawling as quick as ever around the floor.
It really scared me the night she was sick, and that doctor! (the first one) I wonder if thats how everyone will react when Artemis vanishes... I hope not, it seems like a poor way to lose your wits. I do hope the hospital talks to him, if he is soo sqeemish about vanishing babies he shouldn't really be in medince.
Mind it's not too common a thing but stil, NOTHING should shake those guys...

[. razz rivate RP #4:..: Baby:.] Lounge- Kyri and Faeyas Faeyas Ari sat down the carrier by the couch in the lounge. Gently she lifted out the wiggling giggling Artemis from underneath her blanket. “Here we are Artemis, back at HQ.”
Artemis giggled and sputtered some as she kicked her arms and legs while Ari lifted her up. Soon those kicking legs landed on Ari’s lap and Artemis began to bounce up and down, laughing almost in joy of the action. Ari savored this. Later Artemis might not be such a cheerful little girl. Artemis started to shake her wand like a rattle and bop it every where, Ari dodged and ducked and cuddled the baby girl close, “Got you,” Art chuckled, and Artemis started to laugh more. Kyrianna Ianna was sitting on the couch, paper work and plans forgotten for the moment with Coailiann happily snuggling up against her mother, head drooped and eyes half closed.
At the appearance of Ari, Ianna lifted her head and smiled, "Nice to see you again...You and Artemis. How are you getting along?"
Coailiann lifted her head sleepily and waved a bit, "Hiya! Baby. Cute." a yawn punctuated the last word and she settled into her mother again, green eyes watching the new arrivals carefully. Faeyas Ari looked over to Ianna and smiled, “Quite well thanks.” she noticed the small white haired girl at the side of the mysterious lady who had given Ari the baby Artemis. “And who is this?” She asked, shifting Artemis to a sitting position as she let her eye rest on the little child. Artemis giggled and bubbled joyfully, her hand reaching out to the other two present, as if to try to reach them.

[. razz rivate RP #5:..: Baby:.] Outtings in the Evening [Xtol and Artemis] Airaka Airaka's tanned fingers moved up to her hair, pushing some of the bright crimson locks of hair behind her ear. Of course, her bangs weren't long enough to continue to stay behind her ear, and toppled back in front of her eyes. She let out a long sigh, and adjusted her position as she walked, Xtol making it difficult for her to hold him.
The small child she had in her arms then reached up, snatching the bangs back into her hands. He tugged roughly, forcing Airaka's chin to bump against her chest, even though the attacked hadn't come as much of a surprise. She peered into his yellow eyes filled with glee, and he attempted to push her hair into his mouth.
When she pulled away, forcing the boy forward, and her head back, some of her hair was pulled out. Xtol giggled, and opened his petite fingers, watching the hair fall to the paved pathway in the park.
Airaka grimaced, wishing she hadn't misplaced the boy's carrier. Carrying him was extremely difficult. More signs of Xtol's actions marked Airaka's look. With the growth of some sharp teeth, he had been able to mutilate her hand, which was now covered in a bandage. Her eyes also signs of tiredness, and her fashion style had become more lazy.
Though, today, Airaka had dressed up. She had gotten payed today, and took that as an excuse to be able to go out and get some food. Unfortunately, the baby sister hadn't been able to find anyone to watch the child. Faeyas A stroller, kind of, and it was just the thing to carry a lil baby around when your arms needed a rest. It was a wonderful day, but Ari had been busy all day translating for her work that she decided that time out of the house, was becoming a must have. The park was beautiful and the soft cool breeze was sweet and refreshing.
Artemis giggled in her stroller, waving her hands and legs around, bopping her wand on the edge making a “Tang tang” noise to join in her coos. Airaka Airaka paused in her movements, noting the extra noise from behind being added to the peaceful air. This pause gave Xtol a moment for attack. He outstreatched his wings, gaining the attention of Airaka's blue eyes, then lifted his tail, swinging it at the woman side.
To move would mean to drop the child, so Airaka stood stiff, watching the golden wand catch the light off the falling sun. She coughed as it slammed into her side, jerking sideways a bit, before she moved the boy about in her arms, taking his wand from his tail.
As it was still very difficult to hold the boy with his outstretched wings, and Xtol didn't seem at all glad she had taken from him his weapon, he began wiggling ferosciously, babbling unhappy words of nonsense. Airaka gave another heavy sigh, waving the wand infront of his eyes. "I'll give it back if you promise not to hit me."
Xtol's movements and howling stopped, and he made silent grabby hands at his wand. Airaka grinned warmly, passing the child back him wand. He curled his little fingers about the buttom of the wand, waving it back and forth slightly so the sun shone off of it. Faeyas Ari heard the ladies voice, and just glanced over for a moment, and noticed the object in her hand was far from a child’s toy. “Lookie Artemis, that lady has a wand too.” Ari smiled as Artemis giggled. Guess the evening away was going to be exciting after all. Airaka Xtol shivered, and placed his wand on the side of Airaka's jaw. While the metallic chill was oddly satisfying, the sudden gentalness surprised Airaka enough to glance down at Xtol. Then she heard the voice, reminding her of the movements she had heard of before Xtol's attack. Her blue eyes glanced swiftly over her shoulder at the woman and the child, before back to Xtol with a curious look in her eyes.
Xtol peered back at her, then slapped her chin with the wand. "Wa." he said, in a commandinging voice. Airaka blinked, and stopped walking, confused by Xtol's word. She glanced back over her shoulder, peering at the child, specifically this time. Then, she spotted the wand.
"Oh.. You mean wand." she muttered, ooking back at Xtol. "WA!" he repeated, presistent. Airaka grinned weakly, ruffling his hair, before turning about face to peer more obviousy that woman. She took in air, reasurrring herself with her thoughts, then bowed at her waist to the woman. "Hello." came her soft voice.
Faeyas Ari returned the bow, “Nihonjin desu ka?” Ari asked, honestly curious from the bow whether or not this lady was Japanese. Artemis lifted her wand up and shook it merrily; it was visible for a moment while Ari bowed. Once she was finished however it went back to banging the side of the stroller. Airaka Airaka blinked at the language. A foreigner? Someone who didn't know English? A worried look passed her eyes, and she fidgeted on the spot, wondering how to respond. The language did seem familiar, accent wise, though she couldn't tell from where. "Um... I ... don't understand?"
Xtol noted Artemis making movements, and squirmed about in Airaka's arms, forcing the woman to hold him differently, so he could see the girl better. He watched her tapping on the stroller, and wiggled his wand as best he could with his fingers, attempting to gain the girl's attention. Faeyas “Oh,” Ari blushed, embarrassed, “Sorry I speak English I just thought… never mind.”
Artemis cooed loudly and squeaked a few times, She had seen the boy and his shiny wand, and wondered what he was thinking squirming so far from the nice safe ground… Airaka Airaka shook her head, her own face turning slightly red. "No... The fault is mine. I did not mean to make you believe I spoke that language that you know. I am sorry." She grinned weakly, bounchin Xtol up to change the weight about. "I'm Airaka. This is Xtol. A wyvern from the wand."
At the introduction of his name, Xtol turned his eyes back to the older women, and made a cheerful gurgling noise, waving his tail back an forth. He then turned his yellow eyes back to the other wand weilder. Quickly his tongue darted from his mouth, then he repeated his name, "Zeh-toll!" Faeyas Ari smiled, “A wand child? Artemis is too.” She gestured to the small girl in the stroller, who was very interested in sitting up to wave to the boy. “Hey we were just about to go to dinner, would you like to join us?” Ari offered. “Oh Wait, silly me, “I’m Ariel. Ari for short.” Airaka Airaka nodded her head, "If it isn't much trouble, we'd love to join you." She was quite shocked by this woman's kindness, and trusting. It was quite a relief when compared to some people. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ariel."
"You too, Artemis." she said, cheerfully, grinning at the young girl. Xtol growled as his mother leaned forward to the child, and tapped at her leg with his tail. He looked back over at Artemis, squishing out one arm, and waving back.
"Did you have a restaurent already picked out?" Airaka turned slightly, waiting for Ariel to move up next to her. She glanced down the path, towards the area of the city where the restaurents were.
Faeyas Ari joined her by moving the stroller next to hers, "I'm new here so I'm not all to familiar with the shops, I was to be honest just going to let one call out to me." She smiled, feeling quite like the idiot.
Artemis was getting slightly tired. She always was jsut before the moon rose, and then BOOM energy city... To be hoenst Ari probably wasn't aware of what might happen if said energy released itself in the resturant. "Do you know of a place?" Ari asked. Airaka Airaka averted her gaze from Ari, peering straight ahead almost nervously. She grinned weakly, as she looked back at Ari. "No, I had no idea of which store I was going to eat at. I don't really know of any shops, either." This was a lie. Airaka had wandered down these streets many times before, when she was more graced with money. Because of Xtol, her change vanished quicker then the wind.
Xtol began chewing on the end of his wand, and streatched his tail toward the stroller. He curled the tip, which was all that could reach, about a higher part of the stroller. Grinning, he leaned forward, almost dangerously so, and peered down on the top of Artemis's head.
Faeyas Artemis, tired, and about to calm down, hit the intruder with her wand.
“So let’s just look around then?” Ari Started to push Artemis’s stroller down the path, knowing Airaka would follow. Airaka Xtol drew his tail back quickly as he was beat, then hissed furiously. She had just hit him? Him, or all people?! Flicking his tail up, he snatched his wand from his small fingers, then tapped it, roughly, against Artemis' stroller. He couldn't exactly reach her body, and Airaka wasn't being much help.
"Okay. That sounds like a fine idea." Airaka cast her vision to the sky, then noted Ariel moving ahead. She grimaced inwardly, and picked up the pace so to catch up to her. "I don't mean to intrude... But what language were you speaking earlier?" Faeyas “Japanese.” Ari explained sheepishly. “I mean its not every day I’m greeted by a woman bowing towards me, it just made me think either you knew Japanese culture or were probably Japanese….” She let her words trail off, afraid that what she had said had already gotten her into much trouble.
Artemis didn’t notice the bang on her stroller and was quiet as Ari rolled her along, She preferred her carrier, the movement calmed her, instead the stroller was still and bumped her around a lot when her mom hit little grooves in the path. Airaka "Japanese..." Airaka murmured. Her sapphire eyes looked distracted for a moment, peering off down the path at the nearing break into the more popular area of town, before they darted back to Ari, with a questioning expression. "Is that the language Yashima speaks?"
As she continued watching Ari for an answer, an idea struck her, and her face tinged pink. "I bet you don't know who Yashima is. He's another wand child. Sorry."
She looked forward, shifting uncomfortably, stating, without looking at Ari, "No, I'm not Japanese. I was just taught, when I was younger, to be respectful to everyone. Bowing is a sign of respect in my culture. I guess it is that same in Japan, yes?" Airaka coughed weakly, feeling extremly akward because she could not cover her mouth.
Xtol was quite preturbed she hadn't noticed his attempt to harm her. He tightened his wand in his tail, and rose it so he held it infront of his eyes. If she wasn't going to pay attention to him, he would just ignore her right back. Faeyas Ari assumed the lady rambled a lot and decided to keep quiet until she finished. Artemis was mumbling in baby talk, a kind of utterance that allowed Ari to know when the babe was napping. It was cool and quiet out, the nice crisp breeze seemed to soothe the child. However Ari knew that when they got inside, Artemis would wake, and then she wont go back to sleep until dawn. She was anticipating the woman beside her, with her mild seeming son, to immediately freak when Artemis does this, so much that it might potentially…
Silence.
The lady had finished talking. Ari blushed slightly, she hadn’t even noticed, how long had she been silent anyway?
She remembered the start of the conversation, and took a deep breath; there was no other way to handle so much information being pinged at her. “First yes, Japanese is the language Yashi speaks, and yes I do know him,” She took another breath, “I’m sorry I assumed the culture that was utterly my mistake, I’m not familiar with your culture, maybe during dinner you can enlighten me and yes, for clarification, it is a form of basic respectful greeting in Japan.” She breathed.
She hated listing things off so quickly, but Ari was afraid that if she didn’t the lady would interrupt her with another rambling and in no time the conversation would become one sided. She hoped that she had covered all the topics and questions that were thrown at her. She further more hoped that their discussion at dinner wouldn’t be like this, or there would be no time for Ari to watch over Artemis, for she’d be using all of her concentration trying to keep up with the rapidly changing conversation.
Since when was it that a simple idea was insufficient conversational material? When did people start to list off ideas in a stream without pausing to allow the other members of the conversation to get a word in.
It could just be her. A thought entered Ari’s mind, along with another thought, this evening is going to be long and complicated… Airaka Airaka had to urge herself not to pause, and peer at the woman with her surprised blue eyes. She was quite shocked that Ariel had spoken so much in such a short amount of time. It faintly reminded her of that one time she had seen a teenager attempting to convince her parents to allow her to see a movie. Airaka had never been able to talk like such, as it usually caused great pain to her throat, and was forced to break her sentences off, and describe things again. She grinned weakly, hoping Ariel wouldn’t continue these awkward word bursts during the evening.
Their small group broke free from the scenic park into the bright, scent-filled street. Her uneasy grin turned into a more enthusiastic beam. She stared at the stores on the other side of the street, letting the mixed smells fill her nose, and the shocking colours of the advertisements shine in her eyes. Airaka looked over at Ari, then back to the restaurants, wondering if the woman had any idea of what she wanted, as she had no idea now what she wanted. She readjusted her arms about Xtol, holding him more comfortably, as he continued shifting his wings and tail.
Xtol lowered his wand from his eyes as they exited the park, gazing about the glowing area. The darkening sky complimented the whole plaza greatly. He gurgled cheerfully, extending his arms toward all the lively shops. There seemed to be so many people around the street, and many seemed to be quickly glancing at him. While he enjoyed the attention, he was more fascinated with the amount of sounds and smells at the moment. Faeyas It was a lovely night, the strands of lights hanging everywhere gave a feel to the street, a kind of "Out on the town" feel that Ari particularly liked. It was a street, but it was kinda an outdoor mall on what would normally be a street. Nice, friendly, and just the place you'd go out if you wanted to spend an evening away from home.
The new scenery seemed to nudge Artemis out of her dreary mood, she wiggled about anxiously, her face moving side to side as she attempted to figure out where her mother had brought her THIS time.
"So," Ari spoke, afriad that her burst had been the cause of the quiet atmosphere between the two halfs of the small group, "What do you think?" She was refering as to a place to eat, since Ari couldn't decide.
They all looked good.
There was a kinda upper crust fish and steak place that she honestly hoped they avoided, a sushi bar/ Japanese resturant which seemed a little interesting, a barista, a mexican joint, along with a couple others.
Ari hoped that Airika would decide. Airaka Airaka shifted her weight and the child to one side of her body, scanning the area. Either she was getting weaker or the child was getting heavier. A fleat worried look passed her eyes, a fear that she might displease Ari with her choice.
"How about..." She raised her open tanned arm towards the sushi bar. The red head murmured some incoherent words, then looked over at Ari. "How would you say it?"
Airaka obviously didn't know a thing about the cultures on this place, even though she had resided her for at least half a year.
Xtol peered at the shop Airaka had pointed at. To him, it didn't smell all that appealing. Actually, it smelt rather ... sour. He swung his tail back and forth wondering what was in there and why Airaka had pointed towards it. Faeyas Ari threw a glance at the woman in her company, "You are certain you are not Japanese, even at heart?" Ari teased.
A sushi bar, that would be so wonderful. Artemis enjoyed mashed sushi very much, so much in fact that she may acctually behave.
"Thats a yes by the way." Ari winked and started to push Artemis twords the bar. Airaka Airaka paused, starring at Ari with a rather confused look on her face. Slowly she shook her head, looking back at the sushi bar. "... No... I don't think I am." She grinned weakly. So... That store was Japanese. Had she made a mistake in her choice. She cast Ari a worried look before Ari said that it was a good choice.
Letting out her held breath, Airaka grinned, and followed Ari towards the bar. Xtol wiggled defiently as Airaka began over to the store. It didn't smell good, to him. Didn't smell good at all. He attempted to attack Airaka's arms with his wand, though he only succeeded in waving it slightly, due to how Airaka was holding him. Faeyas The resturant was quaint. Typical and somewhat run down. Ari lead her carriage to the side and looked at the man standing waiting to point out a seat of the few present. "Taiburu, kudasai." She requested.
The man let out a small laugh and led the two women and the babes to a table. "Here are your menus." The man's words were awkward, but understandable. Ari thanked him "futsu Haicheru ongegai." Ari requested of the man while offering Ai one copy of the menu.

[.:Quest #1:..: Baby/Toddler:.] Eclipse Artemis had begun to sleep at night. It was such a wonderful change that Ari feared to break it. But she couldn’t keep her nerves still; Ari loved astronomy, and was well aware of most interesting occurrences. Tonight, she would witness something amazing.
She recalled her parents forcing her to bed at night, refusing her the opportunity to witness such an event as a lunar eclipse. Artemis would most certainly not be so deprived. Ari further validated this action with the fact that Artemis was a moon child. Little did she know exactly what was to come.
Artemis giggled as Ari changed her and gave her a bottle. Artemis had grown strong quickly, and was cruising along furniture already. Her sounds were starting to form clusters, and she appeared to be growing up. Artemis anticipated going to bed when Ari picked up the child at nine that night, and cried out in protest.
Ari smiled and rocked her, “Shh shh, I want to show you something.” Ari murmured so that the babe could hear. Gently and softly Artemis calmed down, realizing that they had not progressed to her bed room, and appeared to be going outside instead.
Artemis giggled. She loved being outside, especially at night. The soft air and the sweet smells always pleased her, but tonight was also a full moon, and that seemed to energize Artemis enough that Ari was certain the child wouldn’t fall asleep.
Ari sat on the semi wet grass of a near by field. The clearing gave a full view of the stars that night. They shone brightly, and shimmered and twinkled, as if laughing at some unknown secret. Artemis was playing with her wand shaking it up and down, giggling merrily as her head faced upwards.
The event was slow, something most children couldn’t sit through. Artemis, were she a normal baby would have been crying for lack of activity, crawling around on the blanket Ari had prepared instead of watching the sky. Artemis it proved, was not normal.
She gazed lovingly at the moon, giggling and shaking her wand. It was beautiful.
It was vanishing. Artemis quieted. She watched, not crying, not moving, nor making a sound as the moon was covered. This took a bit of time; it was not something that would happen over a minute or two. It took almost an hour or more until the moon appeared no more than a ring of fire in the sky. Ari watched the moon, holding the quiet Artemis.
Ari looked down occasionally; to be sure her daughter hadn’t fallen asleep. She hadn’t. The babe was focused intently, her eyes wide with wonder as the moon stood covered.
It remained this way for nearly two hours. So did Artemis. Ari had checked often to ensure that the babe was breathing, and doing alright. After all she had hardly moved or spoken.
Gently, as if coming out from behind a veil, the moon started to reappear. Gradually the moment of the moon revealed the silver light that was familiar. The ring vanished. This took time as well. Gradually as the moon became clear, Artemis had begun to move. She would hum every so often, or fiddle wither wand, as if energy was seeping back into her body. Her face went from stunned to amused to happy, slowly, as slowly as the moon.
She giggled as the final of the moon had been revealed. Her laughter was loud and merry. She chirped and called, and held her arm out, with her wand, as if trying to grab the moon.
Suddenly Artemis jumped up from Ari’s lap and waddled foreword, as if chasing the moon. Her steps grew more confident, and her pose more stable as she continued on until she was in the dead center of the field, her arms reached up to the clear sky, to the moon.
The shimmering light made Ari question as she watched black hair come forth on Ari’s head, and her arms and legs grow slightly longer and her balance perfected itself. The full moon looked down at Artemis, and she back up at it. The soft sweet smell of the night eloping the toddler and she giggled, and spun around in the field. Still slightly wobbly she fell a few times only to pick herself back up.
Ari didn’t know what to make of it. Her child appeared to have matured at least a year in the period of a few minutes. Artemis, unaware of the change simply held up her arms, grasping her wand, she pointed it at the moon, “MOON!” She called out and giggled, before falling onto the soft grass once more.
Ari quickly caught up with her daughter and lifted her up; Ari’s laughter joined Artemis’s as they made their way back home for the night.
At least, what remained of it.

[.:Scrapbook #7:..: Toddler:.] Growth Ari tied the little blue ribbon on Artemis's head to secure her curls. "There." Ari lifted the grown girl up to hug her, "Now how am I going to explain all this growth?" Ari asked her daughter in a cheerful over exagerated tone.
Artemis shouted "Yay!" as if she enjoyed her mothers complications and difficulty.
Ari shook her head. This would be interesting...

[.:Journal #7:..: Toddler:.] Recovery We made it out alive. Suprisingly enough. I'm weak and Art is still weak. She still is falling asleep at random parts durring the day and has lost most of her energy, and I'm not certain she'll regain it. We'll see.
I am still amazed at how so many people followed the child in pink. Yeah she's a child, but she was way freaked out and obviously not right in her mind, but everyone followed her like a goddess. This doesn't re assure me of any of their capabilities to raise their children. I'm second guessing ever permitting Artemis to return to such a bunch of moronic fools, esspecially with the HQ as battered as it is.
Yes if any of them wish to see her, they will need to ask first, and most certainly it wont be in that horrible place!
And yes Journal, this has absolutly nothing with how much I was flat out ignored durring the entire event. I could have died (many did I wish not to disrespect their memory) and no one would have reacted, except that one pink girl feeling even more pitifully sorry for herself! I feel sorry for those she lost, when they left all it seemed she could do was cry more and more and not do anything to stop what was going on.
I wouldn't have died for Artemis, but had I died, I fear what would have come of her. No one would be in their right mind enough to care for her.
Speaking of which, it's four, I need to make dinner.

[.:Scrapbook #8..: Toddler:.] Dreams It began slowly. Every so often Art would find herself awake randomly, not entirely sure why, but still capable of falling asleep right after. Some nights this would happen only once, if at all. But then she had two one night.
She would sit there, contemplating the dream. But try as her little 4 year old like mind could, she couldn’t figure out for the life of her what in the world it was that woke her.
She would fall asleep more and more during the day to make up the time she lost sleeping at night.
Naturally Ari noticed something. She wasn’t going to ask until it seemed to be a problem however, because as a child of the moon Art was bound to be more Nocturnal then most toddlers. But these weren’t normal causes.
Art got to the point where she just flat out was not sleeping; with no any idea why. So she instead watched the moon all night, letting its soothing serene light ease her nerves. This was fine until the moon vanished as it does once per month.
Art decided on this night she would try to sleep yet again. Once asleep the night passed, slowly.
Midnight saw Artemis sitting up fast in her half crib, her eyes filled with fear, tears flooding her vision until everything was a mess of blues and blacks. She grabbed her wolf and her wand and held them close to her as she cried out a loud piercing scream.
She didn’t know what the dream was about, and had indeed forgotten it the second she had opened her eyes, but whatever it had been, had been scary enough that Artemis felt that she needed her mommy.
So she shrieked until Ari came in, wide awake and concerned. She turned on the light ran over and lifted Art into her arms and held her close. “Shhh Art I’m here. Nothing can harm you as long as I’m here.”
Art knew the words of her mommy were true; she was never in danger with her mom right near her. Art buried her head in her mom’s shoulder until the exhaustion of the last few weeks hit her and sent her back to sleep.
She slept fine enough that night. Art only hoped it would remain that way.
“Art-chan?” Ari teased the little girl that morning as she gave Art some simple food as practice in eating skills, “I was thinking that maybe you miss being at the HQ.” Ari sat down next to her toddler aged daughter, talking to her as if she were much older, “So why don’t we visit today?”
Art, who had just managed to get the Cheerio’s from her dish and properly in her mouth for the first time of seven or so tries, shouted “YA!” there by projecting the piece out of her mouth and onto the floor.
Ari smiled, “Alright, we’ll visit today then.”

[.:Scrapbook #9..: Toddler:.] Water Art remained in the garden after everyone had left. She felt as if something bad was going to happen if she left. She saw a small puddle of water that had found itself separated from the stream. She crawled over to it and sat observing it. It was round and looked like the moon, so silvery... She slowly dipped a single finger in it and watched the ripples escape from her touch. Suddenly for a moment it stopped before it moved again. Art was curious as to what had caused the water to stop. She wanted it to continue to move.
It was sad looking at the water all by itself not moving from one point to another as it would have in the stream. She decided she would help it move, she wanted it to move.
While this puddle was near a tree there was another further out that perplexed Art more. So she decided to go check it out.

[.:Journal #8:..: Toddler:.] The Head Quarters I still don't quite trust anyone at the blasted Head Quarters, I mean ever since I was rapidly told where it was, never properly shown around, then that lady who promised to do so when she wasn't quite busy vanished. And all the ruckus, no one even cared what I said or did really like I didn't even exist.
Well I certainly can tell when I'm unwanted! Maybe I should run off to Japan, my manager hasn't been quite pleased with me anyway, insisting I stay here and all when they really need me there.
But Art doesn't want to leave quite yet. I wonder when would she be old enough to leave at HQ or a near by charter school? That way she doesn't have to leave and I can get away from all these people who obviously see me as less than human, but only accept me do to Art.
Speaking of Art, when I picked her up from playing today she was covered in mud! I wonder what in the world she had been up to.
