More and more and more of them appeared, swarming like roaches over a meal. Turning the rooftops into a ******** breeding ground. Depending on if their ragtag group could find a functional rhythm together, Faustite's team might have to make their strike quick and true before pulling out of the area.
But that was something to consider when a ******** pirate (Siegfried) wasn't trying to slash through fire. The boy made of flame pulled a face at him when the sword passed harmlessly through his flaming form. "Burn your ******** mouth off," he returned, voice as kindling.
Before he could resume his physical form and make good on his promise, Illyria's beam struck him and kicked him out of his incorporeal form. He remembered beams like that from when Encke's cat had beamed him, but he had never been flame when it happened. Found it all the worse for that — the way that all of him felt paralyzed rather than any one numbed spot. He was frozen up in the thick of it, with Ida near and Albite tangled with her and that cat and Captain Sea Shanty.
And he couldn't ******** move. Couldn't even grit his teeth for what was to come.

His blade steamed as it passed almost harmlessly through the flaming general's body. Well wasn't that annoying. Man why did the Negaverse get all the cool s**t, when he was sitting here with a blunt a** sword with a tuning fork on the pommel. He couldn't make anyone bleed, which he guessed was fine, but it just wasn't fair when you fighting a man literally made of fire! Or who had dangerous weapons! You know, the bladed kind!
The flaming boy spat cinders at him and Siegfried barked a laugh at the retort. Oh very on brand, for a firebrand.
A beam slammed into the fire man and he became a corporeal form again. 'Captain Sea Shanty' took the opening to his advantage, and made to slam his boot into Faustite's metal grate for a stomach.
His strength had never really been in his swordplay, after all, but in the force he could wield his feet with. After all, when you start out with absolutely jack s**t as weapons, you learn to adapt.

His attack was brushed off as if it had no real effect and the corrupt was both impressed and pissed simultaneously. He'd seen the attack knock others on their asses, but this knight practically laughed it up. b*****d. As quickly as his magic fizzled out the Knight retaliated with an attack of his own. Helio moved to dodge but the attack hit before he could escape it full range.
He sucked in air that felt hot, almost burning to his throat and lungs all while his body felt the shock of electricity zipping through it. It was no where near the temperatures of Faustite's fire, but damn it still hurt.
Just as the magic wore off, Helio sucked in air, blessedly cool air, as he heard yet another attack. Even unsure if it was directed at him or not he moved. Moved as quickly as he could and narrowly dodged a flurry of petals. He turned, glaring daggers at the (Onnie) senshi that had attempted to jump him.
Two against one. One being a Knight. Odds weren't good for him if they decided to team up. A quick glance around told him everyone else on the team were as engaged as himself. Albite was the closest but the man was tangling with the princess.
Taking a risk, Helio chose his target. The senshi appeared the least comfortable and confident in this situation in comparison to the knight. The easy target. Instead of using his magic though he moved in on her to force hand-to-hand. He himself wasn't the best at physical combat but he knew enough to present a challenge to someone who wasn't highly trained.
Helio swung a fist to the senshi (Onnie) followed by another and another each targeted somewhere different (head, stomach, sides) to see where this senshi's skills laid.
There was something satisfying about the way the corrupted senshi was breathing. While he took no great pleasure in doing any of this, it meant that the distraction tactic was working. He could hear it in the background beyond the way the air crackled, too, hearing a guardian cat yelling as much as a pained no-longer-fire pit. He spared that scene a momentarily glance before turning back toward the corrupted senshi.
That was, before he got distracted by a younger senshi running up and scrambling out an attack name at the corrupted senshi he faced. If they had more space to talk, he'd show her how to perhaps project that mentally instead, but as it was, he could see the annoyance on the corrupted senshi's face and the immediate pursuit of the senshi nearby him.
She was younger. He wondered, briefly, if she was awakened around the same age as his sister, or if she had a few years without war in the middle.
Or at least, one she was aware of--
He pivoted on his toes and reached out to punch the corrupted senshi in the head -- in a return, or simply to get him off her.
(still active: passive enhancement)
Quote:
Passive Enhancement: Plasma Generator - Encke's passive enhancement taps into his deep relationship with his comet's energy sources and his own magic. He's gained the ability to mirror some of the elements of his own magical source. While active, Encke's form is surrounded by a static fuzz much like touching a plasma ball; imperceptible to the human eye, the odd sensation, while not harmful, can make someone's hair stand on end. Time in his sphere may cause a harmless (though annoying) static zap when touching anything metal or another person.
Kerberos felt his heart skip, erratically. Ida was powerful enough as an Eternal--but she'd recently gained her Princess wings. Power that few ever achieved, and Kerberos had more than once seen exactly what a royal could do when sufficiently motivated. A situation that had even her calling for backup? It was definitely bad, and he didn't hesitate a moment before charging towards the signal.
'Please be okay,' he thought to himself 'Please just....be okay.'
It would be fine. It had to be fine. He just had to believe that. and there were so many bright auras pinging his senses as he approached, and familiar and unfamiliar faces--on both sides. Encke, Erytheia, Cybele. Faustite, ever-bright and fiery, and a group that had to be his team. An Eternal he didn't know, a very brave Guardian Cat, a Knight, a Squire, a Super--so many who had come to protect Ida.
The nice thing about a chaotic fight was that it was possible to fling himself into it with nary an introduction, landing near Ida with a call if "Thousand Asphodel Chorus!" and a whirl of razor petals blooming into the air to match the ones that grew under his feet, even here.
Thousand Asphodel Chorus! Kerberos speaks the name of his attack, and sweeps an arm in front of him. Trailing after his palm, asphodel petals burst out and explode at a radius of 8 feet around Kerberos. The petals will only damage enemies; for allies, they are harmless and pretty. They behave like thin knives, creating a sensation of mild to moderate cuts, and can leave behind actual damage at player discretion. In addition, anyone struck by them will feel a sensation of grief and hopelessness that lasts for 30 seconds. Kerberos can use this attack twice per battle.
Oooh, the pretty Princess had friends. Lots and lots of friends, which was not exactly something Alkmene considered a good time. But the good news was, Team Faustite had a very special way to level the playing field.
A sharp nod at Faustite's orders, aand Alkmene narrowed his eyes. "Green-Eyed Demise," he whispered. There was a bloom of green mist around him, plenty to fill most of the battlefield.
Funny that no one had really come to target him--but that was their mistake. If they underestimated the pretty Eternal in the cute skirt, they would pay for it.
With their magic, if nothing else.
Then, he turned his attention to the Knight attacking Faustite (Siegfried).
That just would not do.
"Get away from him," Alkmene said, and he moved in to throw a punch at the smug blue-haired pirate's face.
Green-Eyed Demise! Alkmene whispers the name of his attack, and green mist spreads out around him, to a radius of 15 feet. Within the radius, all magical abilities are shut down—Negaverse weapons do not apply magical effects, Senshi and Knights cannot cast, youma or half-youma abilities do not function, Vanguardian weapons do not produce their magical effects, etc. Anyone who attempts to use a magical ability will feel a sickening sense of envy, though what they feel envious of is up to the player. Alkmene can use this attack once per battle.
Lilith was frozen with indecision. It was a good thing that the battle was wildly chaotic, because it meant that, hopefully, she might be able to slip under the radar undetected. There also wasn't exactly a good match for her to go charging at--Princess Ida had quite powerful allies.
To her benefit. To Lilith's definite detriment, because she couldn't exactly make herself useful when it would mean throwing herself at an Eternal or a Knight. And yes,t here were people closer to her level, but--
But--
She didn't want to fight. She didn't want to be here. She wanted to go home, and curl up in a ball. She wanted to find Keiko and beg her to get her out of here.
(She wanted to fling herself at Ida's feet and ask please, your crystal, use it, purify me, I know it can happen, please, get me out of here. But she would be as dead as the Senshi with the red hair, the one whose head Jet had removed from his body, if she did that in front of this team of ravenous hellhounds all keyed up to bite.)
So she did nothing. She certainly moved into the crowd, but it wasn't hard to stay just out of reach of any particular fight. She even considered calling her magic to hand--but Alkmene made that pointless; it wouldn't come even if she tried, so she didn't bother.
She wished she had the courage to sabotage. To stumble, and bump into an ally, and leave them gasping for breath. But that was as sure a death sentence as actually asking for help from the other side. So instead, she did her very best to disappear, and hoped that this was over soon.
Ah, yes, it seemed like this was going to be a bit of a party. Unfortunately, Valjean hated parties.
He frowned at the Princess's assembled white knights; so many descending on them to cause problems. And most of them stronger than him, at a glance. Not the type fo situation he wanted to be in; certainly not the kind of tinderbox he was yet ready to add fire to with his magic.
Fortunately, Alkmene's mists removed that problem from the equation. No choice but to wait and decide where best to apply it later.
He moved through the battlefield swiftly, towards a rather small-looking Super Senshi and her very tall Eternal companion (Onnie and Encke).
"You shouldn't be here," he told the younger Senshi, and he moved to demonstrate such, reaching for her scarf with the aim of hoisting her off her feet.
Being tall and imposing had its benefits.
Probably he was going to regret tangling with someone next to an Eternal, but if necessary, the girl could make a weapon of sorts.
quotes for basically everybody bc this is a pretty tight battle and alkmene's got Big Magic Radius!
Encke had disappeared immediately when the distress call came over his phone app, and that left Basiluzzo hurrying to catch up to him. Sure, he had access to those same apps on his ring thanks to Viatrix, but actually operating it still came with a bit of a learning curve for him. If his husband hadn't run off, Basiluzzo would have just asked, but that was neither here nor there at this point--
By the time Basiluzzo arrived, he was a bit out of breath and a bit frustrated, but the wave of auras washed that away with little resistance. He saw Faustite first, of course, and he grit his teeth so hard he felt his jaw crackle and ache under the pressure. But it was better that than immediately surge after Faustite like he wanted to do.
Encke was occupied with another senshi or two, which did explain the distress call. Should Basiluzzo go back him up? His husband seemed to be holding his own okay, so Basiluzzo diverted his attention back to Faustite. His grip on his feather tightened, knuckles whitening as he darted in after the Neptunian knight to try and get a hit in.
At least if he couldn't, he could make sure the Neptunian was alright---

Why was Albite here? Perhaps this is what Erytheia got for not being discriminating with who he brought to his wonder. He hated fighting people he knew.
“I suppose so.” Erytheia said between closed teeth to Illyria. There wasn’t time to talk reasons any more. There were too many Chaos aura here now. He felt Harmonia’s energy and channeled it into his bow for a more powerful shot.
Then he felt a second wind at the same time he felt a corrupt senshi’s cold as ice power begin to weigh on him.
And he shot his arrow at Faustite after the cat’s beam.
He looked to Ida, still worried. At least, there were reinforcements now.

Forgotten Spell: A magic arrow fired at a single target within 20 feet. It appears like a shooting star in flight and disappears on impact. It deals blunt force damage. It has three uses.
Super Sailor Onnie Hey, hey, why was he targeting her?! Ahh, this wasn't any fair, no fair at all!! Onnie had been planning to be all support from a respectable five-foot distance; she was a mage, not a tank, she hadn't prepared for this!!
There was no other good way to characterize what was happening to Onnie: she was getting her a** kicked. Soundly. Terrible decision!! Awful decision!! Yuck!! She was startled enough she barely managed to dodge her newfound enemy's first fist - and intentionally backstep from his second - but it wasn't as if tapdancing had given her the kind of reflexes that let her automatically dodge physical attacks (although she did do a mean Cincinnati, but unlike - ugh - ballet dancers, she had not honed her entire body into a whiplash being of fluid muscle by age fifteen), so instead she stumbled off-balance out of surprise and met punches three and four, tears coming to her eyes involuntarily.
Oh, god. Oh, god. Was she seriously about to start crying in the middle of a fight where her enemies would probably kill or corrupt her?? That was a new low, a new low!! It was totally unacceptable! This was why she usually only went out with Lepus, who was much better at the whole Senshi thing, everything considered! No matter how unacceptable it was, it was happening anyway; even as soon as Zappy moved in to defend her, and Onie mumbled a "Thaaaanks," looking very much like she wanted the rooftop to rise up and consume her whole, another Corrupt Senshi was grabbing her by the scarf.
Hey! Why were all of these guys so tall?? It was unfair! Totally unfair! Onnie was five foot sixish, she was a very respectable height for a stately young woman of approximately nineteen and a half, even if it fell well in the range of 'perfectly average'. Maybe she needed to start wearing lifts? Well, in the absence of anything else, she wriggled like a caught eel, trying her absolute hardest to claw her captor's eyes out. Or at least bug him so badly that he dropped her. Either would work!! Could work, even!

attacking valjean by making herself a horrid nuisance (read: going for the eyes)
Eternal Husband Albite, Corrupt Senshi of Retribution Status Effect: He’s Feeling it Mr. Krabs - under Kerbs and Alkemenes effects. Action: Acquiring a new target, Mr. prettier than me with the petals. Holyshitacat!!
Albites eyes were wide with delight for the presence of a Mau, such a sassy cat! Such a good team! It made it all the more fun to take a chance at tearing them all apart if they turned it into an actual battle worth fighting — if Ida and her own made them all try for it — claw for it tooth and nail.
It was the only kind of battle Waru ever wanted to fight. The best kinds. With even odds and high stakes. Course he couldn’t punch a cat, that was against the rules, but the girl the cat was siding up with, choosing to fight for?
*Fair ******** game—*
Course the funny petal mist and Encke’s obnoxious run on sentence static combined with his own spastic thoughts left him distracted. He hadn't so much as looked at Illyria — *her name was Illyria! So cute!* — as he felt the most basic of his binds tied to Ida shred with ease, like tissue paper, coming apart like nothing at all beneath the scythe of Illyria’s claws. On the edge of that realization he caught Ida's fist —
*With his face —*
Had anyone ever actually cut through them before!? It was a blinding fast blink of a thought that soared high and crested with the pain of a strike. Good on the Princess for having such a good kippn at her side, good on her for hitting him!
The bruise would bloom and he would smile brightly for it, as the move rocked him back a step — as the bloom of razor edged petals drew his guard up — till he was throwing his arms over his eyes.
Then there was nothing — a choking swirl of green mist to breathe; silence in his bones that felt like dying as any magic he reached for to retaliate with over the screaming din of too many auras he knew, didn’t know, everything in between.
As he reached and got nothing—-
The bleeding lines from -Kerbs- petals itched. Though Albites fresh hellish panic was because he couldn’t pinpoint which ******** person had turned the house lights out in his head. The ******** had his magic gone?!? Was it a blessing - a curse - a devastating problem? A problem for who even!! Everything inside him warred between feeling suddenly hopeless and jealous at once because he couldn’t peel apart how to feel for anything! The ******** long would it even last—-
“You absolute genius, the hell did you do this? Was it like — an anti-magic trap the whole time?” Hissed in Idas direction with a somber sort of amazement, feral, and twisted over a grin that had no business being on his face just then. Ooh, yes, he was jealous of her smarts— ally’s with powers, but he could combat that with punching, right? Right! Could do it even better if there were less people around — and his gaze shifted from Ida, Illyria, all the way over past Erytheia who he liked too much to throw down with — landed on the harem in a half veil with the swirly pink glow lines. The one throwing petals around — pretty thing — needed to stop it with the flower power though.
“Or was it you, pretty with the petals? Did you ******** my magic up?”
Basic Cryolite, Corrupt Senshi of Sublimation State: Magicless due to Green Smoke. Itchy from the static. Atk: Kicking Encke - Sir? Get the ******** off of Helio! “I will!” surprise came first, then a flare of blush that he pushed straight down because Fulgurite had called him Babe. Babe made his heart flutter and caught his gaze too long over his shoulder. An unexpected little thrill — that thrill was dashed under an order
Because holy ********** — where had everyone come from!? Cryolite saw Borax get bowled over, flinched for it, poor thing. Took the order from Fafnir to heart -- and moved at the sight of purple smoke. Staggered for the onslaught and cacophony of new auras — Helios water went up — Fafnir's smoke speared in — the air boiled — Cryolite pulled on his magic on instinct, as if the ice coating his skin would save him from that electrifying heat. Not that it mattered seconds after; when green rolled in and washed everything away.
Syrus stood there iceless, confused, and then seconds later said ******** all — because if they were going to own the eternal with a penchant for shocking people down? Maybe now was the chance. So he threw himself at Encke who was throwing down on Helio — even if trying to the man felt like grabbing a plasma ball at the science fair.
He pulled for his magic again and got Jack s**t — kicked at the eternal instead, like the b***h of a basic he was.
Sailor Scout Attack: "Sublime Shroud!" Cryolite says the word, and his body temperature magically drops to below freezing. He is not affected by this, but anyone who comes in contact with him will feel as though they are touching dry ice and will feel as if they are suffering mild frostbite for as long as they are touching him, and for up to twenty seconds after they break contact. While he is channeling his magic, it will appear as if he is sublimating into a chilly, foggy vapor. The illusion of the cascading fog that bleeds off of Cryolite serves as a visual warning sign to any who can see it: it screams 'Super cold - Do not touch'.
No physical or lasting damage is done in this magic, only the very uncomfortable mental sensation of such. However, players can choose to sustain any lasting damage in the form of chills or up to mild frostbite.
Range: Touch/Grapple Duration: 30 Seconds Number of uses: 1 (used one, wasted one) Number of targets: Whomever touches Cryolite

With so many enemies in such a small space, turning his attention on one meant getting kicked by the other, and while he didn't feel through his metal as he was sent away from Siegfried with the impact of the blow, he did feel the thrum through his ribs and hips. Felt it all the way up in his teeth.
Before he could launch himself at the knight, before he could grill everyone in his vicinity like it was a ******** cookout, flower petals blasted outward and coated his right side in tiny cuts and scrapes. He tried to ignore it — senshi magic was only temporary — but he checked to see from whom that magic came. It was thus easy to spot Kerberos as the most naked boy on the field and the subject of two affronted Chaos boys talking s**t on him. So he had magic that he used, but only when he came to the defense of others. Fantastic, just add more ******** petals to the already ******** petal-laden battlefield. Make it into a impromptu flower shop, for all he cared.
What did it matter, anyway. They were so saturated with White Moon that they were undoubtedly outmatched and magically outgunned. Why the ******** did he start this, anyway? Ida was transcended, and unless they caught her quick enough and broke her neck, there was no way to take her down. They couldn't starseed her. They couldn't corrupt her.
It was Ganymede all over again, only this time, Faustite couldn't even hope to catch her before one of their own betrayed them and took her back to her allies.
Then there was Alkmene, taking on the Knight while Faustite was stuck in his stumble and petal blast. He saw the green mist, knew that it meant all hope of setting them on fire would be paused for the time being. It neutralized whatever magic they had, too, assuming that their range wasn't farther than Alkmene's. So they could only beat the s**t out of each other now —
And some a*****e Squire (Basiluzzo) was coming in, luckily slow enough by virtue of his rank that Faustite could duck the hit. He went to shoulder check that Uranian boy in the gut, and soon after, was shot in the side by an arrow from another Knight (Erytheia) that sent him back toward the Neptune Knight (Siegfried).
Albite was yelling, and Faustite realized, as he was being pinballed between Order brats, that Albite hadn't bothered to read up on his teammates' magic. That bade even less well for them than before. <******** back!" He yelled to his team, since communicators were out of the question for now.

People who need summoning will be summoned back to Negaspace in my next post~
Illyria watched carefully as it looked like her beam had succeeded in at least one aspect. While the general hadn't been stunned per se; he had stopped being the embodiment of living flame and thus was set upon by the one that had caused the dousing of water earlier. Illyria blinked violet orbs slowly up towards the one that she had come to help rescue before turning to scan the horizon, looking for possible avenues of escape that could be utilized. It was almost grating on her ears to hear the corrupt senshi whose magical ties that she had shredded to even dare to address Ida before he seemed to pick a new target out of the fray. Illyria was determined not to let him go quite scot free but in chasing him down she would have to leave Ida's side and that was something she wasn't completely willing to do just yet. Illyria wasn't sure what the green mist was doing amongst those that were caught up in it but she was sure it wasn't anything good.
Taking a moment to concentrate the Mauvian shed her feline form without hesitation. It was odd to do so in the middle of what seemed to be a pitched battle but even as she moved to on two feet to stand at Ida's side, stabilizing the Orchid senshi if it were needed, did her ears catch the bellowed order to "fall back" being issued by the one that she had beamed. Did this mean that the battle was over? Was everyone safe now?
Even as Illyria caught the command did her gaze settle once more on the corrupt senshi from before. She had memorized everything about him now and would most likely give him a piece of her mind the next time they crossed paths. Even if he hadn't realized it by trying to tether himself to Ida, it almost seemed like he had tried to take something that wasn't his. Illyria viewed that as an unacceptable act.

Eternal Husband Albite, Corrupt Senshi of Retribution Status Effect: He’s Feeling it Mr. Krabs - under Kerbs and Alkemenes effects. Action: Begrudgingly retreating!! No, wait, grudgingly, the most grudgingly he can muster!
"********, fine!!" the words were snarled and the fists he wanted to throw at the blue haired harem boy from the sky got aborted. He briefly locked eyes with a cat--- the cutest kippn he'd ever seen, and watched in slack-jawed amazement as she stood up into people-neess! Ohgod why and when and how did they always end up with thumbs!?!!!? Illyria was beautiful though, it wasn't fair, he wanted even more cats now!!
Maybe he'd ask Faustite about getting them a third one once he got back home--- in the interim of that? He was throwing middle fingers up like he wanted to throw punches, (at Kerberos specifically because his petals cut!! ******** ow!!) before stepping, back and tossing out goodbyes.
"Upper-ranks grab a basic we're ditching this b***h!!" shouted over the crowd, and he figured some of team petals-a-plenty would back up, off, and away if they didn't wanna get dragged out along with the rest. Though who knew, maybe some of 'em wanted a free ride off the roof? Albite spared Ida and crew another scathing look that only softened for the Cosmos knight poised up in the cluster of 'em all. Erytheia looked disappointed, and that kinda sucked, but he figured Starshine'd never seemed like the battle ready type-ah cosmos knight...sept for the bow...and the arrows..and holy ******** had he shot Faustite!? Who knew the blond had it in him!!
Albite hadn't, what he did know now for certain that he didn't want a matching arrow in himself! Leapt back paces, swept the group with a flicker of a glance. ********, was Fulgurite there!? He was! Good, better, best! There were enough Super ranks and Eternal adjacent agents to grab the -- who needed grabbing? Cryolite, for sure. Who else? Borax--where was--- oooh....Borax was getting bodied----Ooh, by Cybby!! What a pretty tussle they had going on over there!!
"Hey Deerheart! Let that Lt. be!" Albite figured if he could just get close enough to grab Borax up, all the different ways they could get the ******** gone---
Basic Cryolite, Corrupt Senshi of Sublimation Status: Magicless due to Green Smoke. Itchy from the static. Action: Looking for a taxi home! Helio, Valjean we've gotta go! The all call to make a swift retreat was as much a blessing as it was a curse just then. They suddenly needed to go, and the strategy seemed wise considering the newly rising amounts of order-based auras piling up on all sides. It was nearly suffocating, the whole lot of them. He heard Albite echo Faustites orders though, and if his punch happy bestie was suddenly being agreeable about leaving a fight? Well then, he definitely needed to get going! He was sure Fafnir was off in the distance tangling with, who, exactly? (Anakeion) He didn't recognize that one, didn't recognize most of the people there but that wasn't the point!
Heliodore was right there---and the only super closer was Valjean dealing with a clawing cat of a Senshi covered in buttercups (Onnie). The remaining issue was Encke being a defensive wall of sparks between him and the way home. Cryolite simply lashed out at the Eternal again -- a fly swatting at a wall -- while grabbing for Heliodore....

Heliodor The fist came from his left, and Helio had been expecting the knight to hop in and try to stop his attack. The senshi drudge back from Onnie just as Valjean joined the fray and took her on. Good. He could focus on the Knight and not need to worry about attacks on all sides.
Faustite's voice broke through the battle calling a retreat swiftly followed by Albites.
He spared a moment to glance around himself, beyond the immediate area that consisted of him,, the Knight, senshi and Valjean. There was a lot of white. Too much white. That explained the retreat call. He also noted Cryolite nearby, and very much in need of a ride out.
"Hm. Sorry. Our little dance has to stop short." Helio said to the Knight as he circled round the electrically charged man so he was closer to Cryolite. Teleporting to him to bypass the problems on the field and then teleporting again with someone in tow wasn't an option for the super. "Perhaps next time we'll get to finish it out?" He flashed a grin before turning and dashing the few feet to Cryolite who was moving for him.
"Let's get out of here." He said before teleporting away.

Still more powered signatures began to pour into the area and with the team, the tide of battle began to turn. Those who had been attacking her were soon occupied with new targets, giving Ida space to breathe and also to scoop up her cat into her arms and out of danger. A sweet, rippling note of music rang out of the battlefield and with it came a new flow of energy, dampening down some of the hurts she had suffered already. Whoever that was, she was very grateful to them for the second wind.
Hearing her name as Illyria faced off against her assailants, Ida glanced up to see Anakeion calling to her, joined by Cybele now too, and a Neptune knight she couldn’t remember meeting. There was another super too, hovering around Encke.
Faustite was on the ground. Apparently, cat lasers were potent against that flame form of his and now was a good time to take advantage of it. The familiar form of Kerberos landed nearby and Ida let her princess form fall away in glowing sparks, settling into her eternal form and the lower power signature it gave off. Probably a good idea, because a green mist began to fill the area, magic failing as the mist took it over.
When the call to retreat came, Ida felt a wash of relief, grabbing hold of Illyria’s hand and pulling her away from the officers, towards the back of the group of White Moon fighters and safety. Among the crowd, she’d be harder to pick out, harder to target, and if she was lucky, the rest of the officers would be more focused on retreat than on where the source of this fight had gotten to.
——
This was all too much. More and more powered signatures arrived and they were decided not Negaverse ones. The fight fast went from a hunt to a rout, and he did not like it. He especially did not like it when a squire hit him from the side like a wrecking ball, nearly knocking him off his feet and interrupting his magic. He let the momentum take him down and rolled free in a swirl of cloth and hair, rounding on his attacker.
“b***h.” He ground out as he rushed her, returning her swings with his own. He might not have a weapon like she did, but he knew how to throw a punch when he needed to. Fafnir kept a careful eye on her as he moved, dancing back after to put some defensive space between them.
Green mist began to fill the field and blessedly, he heard Faustite calling for them to fall back. That was very acceptable to Fafnir. This was not the sort of fighting he liked to do… straight on, no advantages, no weaknesses to exploit. He took a quick glance about, but the only lieutenant he saw was that Borax, and Helio already had him. That left Fafnir free to blow his opposition a kiss with a wink, and disappear, teleporting back to Negaspace.
The command to retreat was met with a roll of the eyes. Taking on more than they could chew, of course. Princess Ida was just that, a whole ******** princess -- of course she had a whole cadre of ******** eternals and supers and other s**t she could pull in.
There was a small part of him that actually admired it, a bit, but he buried that down under everything else, going to go locate Cryolite. Over the past several missions, Fulgurite had taken on the responsibility for moving Cryolite to safety without even being asked to. The easy excuse was that they were both under Albite's leg of the team, so it seemed that they were teaming up.
The truth?
Well, perhaps it was a little more complicated than that, highlighted by the fact that not seeing Cryolite upon a quick sweep made him first panic in concern that someone might have hurt him when the two of them had gotten separated, and then swapped to a complicated mire of frustration when he realized some of the others had already vanished. Some of the others that might have actually been capable of bailing Cryolite out themselves--
There were no bodies on the ground and none of the Order types could really teleport--except to their homeworlds, and that was usually a bit more obvious--so it was clearly one of their teammates who grabbed Cryolite. Right? That was where he went?
Thank ******** that he also had a backup. Borax didn't precisely have the strength to fight her off himself, and he did not have an ego so blind to the reality that he wouldn't even acknowledge that. He heard Albite braying at Cybele and used the opening between mild nausea in his stomach to slide in Albite's direction.
Perhaps the dreaded himbo would just grab him and get him out of here with the boss's boss's retreat order.
He dropped his volume a few notches as he leaned in toward Albite.
"Get me out of here and I think I have something new for you."
