Hyperborea was relaxing this night on the roof of a particularly tall building, her only company the strange wisp creature that she had found over the star festival. She gazed down at the city happy there didn't seem to be any major trouble going on. However while the city might have been calm the same could not be said for the stars above. As Hyperborea felt a call of aid, this was a sensation she was very used to from her many years as a knight but still she always worried when she got them hoping no one was injured or worse. She let herself be pulled to wherever she was needed.

She was fairly certain she had appeared on Saturn, although she wasn't too familiar with the place she could guess from the dark atmosphere. She had appeared in a forest in front of what appeared to be a Japanese shrine building. Apparently this wonder was owned by a very familiar knight. Hyperborea smiled brightly at the sight of Aokigahara, the wisp bounced happily at her smile. She didn't interrupt him as he explained the situation but she was working really hard not to rush forward and sweep her old friend into a giant hug.

As he passed out his talismans she clasped him fondly on the shoulder. "It's so good to see you again old friend its been too long. I wish the circumstances were a bit better, but we'll deal with this monster haunting your wonder." She said confidently. "After that we should catch up some time mon ami." She took the offered talismans.

Once they had reached the monstrous skeleton Hyperborea summoned her staff and proceeded to attack the creature, the wisp falling back to safety. She swung the staff with all of her quite considerable might into the bones of the creature.

Magical Damage:
* * Warm Fuzzies: 2d4 (3/3)

Phaethon was, well, flabbergasted by the giant skeleton. He wished he could say his attempt to attack went at all the way he wanted it to, but at least he'd hit. Considering he was just throwing rocks at the skeleton as hard as he could, he would take what he could get.

HP: 50
Physical Damage: 1d8
Magical Damage: n/a
Talismen Remaining: 2
DMG: 4

This was entirely not what she'd wanted to spend her evening doing. Tikal was starting to regret answering the call. But no matter--she was there, now, and she had to deal with what that meant.

Even if what that meant was a giant skeleton.

She was lacking in formal weaponry, unfortunately, but Tikal fancied herself a quick thinker. Her necklace-as-a-weapon was probably not going to be very helpful against a skeleton that didn't need to breathe nor had flesh to bruise.

Ah, yes, that rock was a good weight, had a good heft. Tikal squinted, aimed, and let it fly.

Magical Damage: n/a
Talismen Remaining: 2
DMG: 6

"She is just like you, you know," Basiluzzo teased, looking up at the skeleton and twirling his feather between his forefinger and thumb. "And, honestly, it doesn't have an actual face. How am I supposed to know?" It wasn't like Basiluzzo had a lot of experience reading the facial expressions of skeletons. He also didn't have much experience fighting a skeleton. He wasn't sure what his feather was going to be able to do for him.

Tickle it to death? Redeath?

Well, maybe a rock would help... Basiluzzo picked one up and lobbed it as hard as he could at the skeleton.

Squire Velour
HP: 75
Talismans: 2
Damage:

Strange but thrilling, it was, to land himself on another knight's wonder. The Pluto boy spent a good deal of time gazing out at the woods, gawking at the spendour of a wonder on Saturn. He hadn't been there in all his world travels; he'd always been a touch apprehensive, and it was for instances like these.

Saturn and death were kin to one another. He knew this, the bounty of Knights and Senshi knew this, likely the giant skeleton knew this. That Aoki needed a ritual to banish this thing was one of the dour realities that came from being a Saturn knight, he imagined, and thus was twice as grateful that his wonder was on Pluto.

Both hands cupped around his mouth, Velour shouted "good luck!" at the retreating, lantern-laden knight. He wasn't sure what the right words would be, or if it should be them that needed good luck, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Most of them started throwing rocks at the thing; stones and broken bones, Velour supposed. He had his reservations about the creature as straight evil, which must have leeched into his throw; it was a light tap with a light rock.

Pluto Page Gwales
HP: 50/50

Physical attack: 1d8 damage
Magical attack: none
Quote:
Talismans: 2
Amplifying Magic: When using a talisman to amplify magic, add one extra die of the appropriate kind to your roll. (An extra d6 for direct damage or d4 for indirect damage or healing.)

Amplifying Physical Attacks: When using a talisman to amplify a physical attack, use the indirect damage magic roll appropriate for your character’s level. (10 + 1d4 for first stage; 10 + 2d4 for second; 10 + 3d4 for third).

Banishing Harmful Effects: If using a talisman to banish a harmful effect, your character will simply succeed! The affected character can roll 1d10 and quote me, and a blessing may be bestowed, depending on the roll!

Nodding as Voyager spoke, Gwales heard the rumbling rustling sound coming from the forest. Aokigahara identified it as the giant skeleton and made to light the lanterns, which meant it was their cue to go into action! She hesitated when she saw it, though, as much as it hesitated when it saw all of them descend upon it. But she couldn't let a stupid giant skeleton monster spook her like that!

The Pluto Page decided she would save the tokens for a real dangerous situation. Rushing up to the skeleton, she spun around and kicked it in the shin as hard as she could, then danced out of its way and as far out of range as she could get. It was weird -- it didn't feel like Chaos, but it didn't feel "normal" either.

"That's a good idea, a rock!" she called to Voyager, then she picked up a rock of her own, stowing it in her belt pouch. With no magic attack of her own yet, Gwales had to use whatever was at her disposal. Her little egg timer was all but useless.

Puck barely had time to give Scylla a cheeky grin before the giant skeleton that Aokigahara had spoken of made itself known. "Whoa, bit of a brute, isn't he?" he quipped, backing away. He watched with fascination as the Eternal of the Kraken used her magic, tentacles going everywhere but mostly at the skeleton. "That is wicked!"

Realizing his own magic wouldn't do any good against a foe like this, Puck decided that was okay; he was more than down for a nice old-fashioned punch-up anyway. Completely forgetting about the talismans, he built up a good mental head of steam and charged the skeleton, bashing it with his fists before backing away. "Take that, you bag of bones!" he shouted for good measure.

He felt a hand on his, and Scylla next to him. "Good idea, love," he nodded; grasping her hand, he ran off with her in a direction away from the monster skeleton. Time to focus on their chosen mission: preventing anyone from getting lost in the woods.

Transcended Ida: 100 HP - Talismans: 2

Direct Magic Damage: 10 + 3d6 damage
Physical Attack: 1d12 damage
Talisman + Magic: +1 die
Talisman + Physical: 10 + 3d4 damage

The call that went out had felt familiar to Ida, something she’d experienced more than once in the past. It was always startling when a planet, or a wonder, called out for help. It felt like nothing else, and she could very rarely resist it. With her own ties to her planet, something that was so precious to her, all their places of power roused at least some of the same protectiveness in the transcended. The eternal gave in the pull of it and felt herself flying through space between one breath and the next… and then the world resolved around her into a place she’d never been before, the buildings dark about her and the others that began to arrive as she had.

After keeping to herself so much this last year, she felt… shy about approaching the others as they spoke to the knight of this wonder, as it turned out to be. Aokigaha… not someone she knew, but that was okay. And they were here to fight a monster, as she had rather expected. She stepped forward quietly with the others to take the offered talismans, moving off to the side to study the little slips of paper she held. They weren’t something she’d used before, and weren’t part of her culture, but if he said they’d be useful, she had to trust they would be.

———

The rattle of bones drew Ida’s head up, her dark eyes wide. It was such an eerie sound… and the heavy thud that accompanied it… She watched with a growing buzz of adrenaline as the monster lumbered out of the woods. Everything in her calmed, now that the fight had started, and she breathed deep, pulling out one of those talismans and holding it in the hand she extended.

Ida watched as the others raced to attack the monster, large, lashing tentacles appearing out of no where to grab and flail at monster and combatants alike as golden petals swirled around it. It made her glad her attack was long range… it kept her out of the thick of the fighting.

“Heavenly Orchid Arrows!” She shouted as she settled with her feet apart, sweeping that hand up before her in an arc. Glowing petals trailed from her hand and fell to form into a glowing bow. She grasped it and reached with the talisman to pull back an invisible string… and a glowing arrow blazed to life between her hands. She breathed in as she sighted down it, right at the beast’s empty eye sockets… and then released it as she released the arrow, the bow dissolving into sparkles as the arrow roared across the space between her and her target, trailing light as it went.

It exploded as it made contact, bursting against the dry, rattling bones.

Eternal Sailor Attack: Heavenly Orchid Arrows!
[What it does] An out-flung hand casts a trail of petals that form a bow-like shape. She takes it up and uses it to fire arrows of light with hardened petals as arrow heads. The arrows have an 'aura' of power to them and explode on contact. The explosion is more concussive, causing a pressure that can push a target backwards a foot or two, but doesn't do much in the way of actual damage. Unbalanced enemies could be knocked over, if they were caught unaware. Particularly heavy opponents may not be moved by the attack, but could be distracted or slowed by the pressure of it. Each arrow takes a lot of power to cast and her limit is three, which exhausts her and can force her to retire until she's rested.

Direct Damage Attack, Using 1 talisman - Total Damage: 24

Super Sailor Monoceros
HP: 75/75
DMG: 13 (+1 from Article of Strength bracelet) = 14
Talismans: 2

Monoceros had answered the summons with only the barest of hesitations. He still vividly remembered the night he'd met Aiokigahara—the Knight had used his magic to save Monoceros' stupid a** from a much more powerful Agent (compared to Monoceros himself, anyway), and he'd been caught in the radius.

The memory made him shiver, especially as he came to the Wonder. He shivered again, harder this time, and swallowed back bile. No. He wouldn't be a coward today. Aiokigahara had asked for help, and he wouldn't back down. No way, no how.

He collected the two talismans with a sense of relief. He would probably desperately need these to prevent more nightmares from assaulting him.

Don't step off the path.

He, very nervously, slid a toe off the path and into the forest before pulling it back much, much faster than he'd slid it forward. Okay, settled that stupid intrusive thought, maybe now I can actually focus. He was just grateful the fear had taken over and shut down the stupid desires of his feral hindbrain.

As the skeleton rose up, he gasped and shuddered, taking half a step back. No! He wasn't running! He had to help.

Bracing himself, he took careful aim and shouted, "Quill Flash!"

Then he uttered something he would consider stupid a moment later. "Huh, this thing reminds me of Hexxus from Ferngully..."

Seiana_ZI

A burst of porcupine quills flies from Sailor Monoceros's hand, which can cause shallow scratches and/or minor puncture wounds. Any attempt to remove the quills before they vanish will cause sharp, pinpointed pain in the area; however, they don't sink in much deeper than skin-level. A user can choose to have this attack cause permanent damage or the injury will fade when the magic expires. This attack will last 20 seconds and can be used three times per battle.

Squire Sumner
HP: 75/75

There hadn't been much time for chitchat, something that Sumner had been thankful for, but he did wish that they had been able to better prepare themselves before the creature showed itself. Instead it had been almost instantly upon them and he had barely any time to go and find something to throw at it before the owner of the Wonder had gone off to try and start the lanterns.

Sumner didn't blame him, it was best to get it done as quickly as possible, but he wasn't sure how his magic would be of help, it was a skeleton after all. Unless someone could use an attack on it that didn't involve their fists, they would have to keep throwing stuff at it, trying to get it's attention.

He wasn't sure if he wanted to be bait for a giant skeleton that was roaming around, but he knew that if it did go after him then so be it.

MONSTER HP: ???/???
[hp will be revealed after a certain point….]

The encouragement from Hyperborea received a nod, before Aokigahara ran off, and an acknowledgement that they would absolutely have to speak later. Unfortunately, haste was required, which was why he only paused to wave to Velour in thanks for his encouragement as well.

Aokigahara lit the first lamp. There was a blooming ripple of purple light, flowing out from him and to the skeleton, and it roared in pain and distress. It sent bursts of shadowy energy flying towards those that had damaged it most; the ones that had used magic and the ones that just hit it hard.

But something else—many something elses--rose with the monster. Some of these beasts sought to harm. Some sought to help. All focused their attention on the fighters, as Aokigahara ran for the second lantern.

"Skoll's Pack Offense!" Words warmed Charybdis from the inside out, making her feel stronger and better than ever. Her previous attack seemed to have done... well. Absolutely nothing. But Ara came running over to join her, and Charybdis felt absolutely awesome for the moment, smiling brightly at her friend. "This is Voyager, he's a knight of Pluto, and he's an adult. I think he's a teacher. Or a librarian. He wears vests."

She would have done more to introduce them, but the monster went on its way attacking people with shadowy energy- including Ara! Something else came flying at her, and Charybdis braced herself, shifting her weight defensively. One of the strange things seemed to hit her slender body, and she suddenly felt a little less warm than before.

A wave of dizziness struck her, even as Charybdis felt bolstered by the other senshi's energy. "Shiny Pup!" the Chibi called out, voice trembling; did skeletons have eyes?

Could skeletons be distracted by adorable ork borks?

They would find out...

The first lamp lit, and someone didn't much like that. The skeleton roared, somehow, considering it didn't have a voice box or vocal chords. Stupid magic. As it roared, it sent out waves of like... magic. That in itself was bad, BAD news bears. "I have regrets about my taste in jokes," Imbrium told Alphubel and Larissa; "It doesn't seem particularly pleased about them." Then again, it had been attacking just about everyone else BUT her, so what did she have to complain about?

"Time to chill out, pal." Lifting her shield, Imbrium thrust it forward, throwing up her ice wall to try and block access to the people behind... or at least give the skeleton some brain freeze.

What a charming little... Puck. "Always nice to be appreciated." Scylla chirped to him, then her head tilted as he ran up and- punched it. That certainly took confidence. And it almost made her feel better in the moments before energy began to swarm.

Well, that was something she wanted to avoid. And for a second, she thought she'd do a good job of it. "I would ask how you've been, but I don't know this is the best time to catch up. After, though, I'll take you out for snacks." She and the Senshi of the Woods, prancing away from danger hand in hand until something seemed to stab her from behind, purple light tearing through her body and driving her to her knees. The wisp in her hair blinked and flashed in alarm, spinning around her head nervously.

"What is it you say over the pond- Bloody Hell? That fu-ricking hurt." Still on the ground, Scylla lifted her hand, summoning her response. "Hunger."

Rend, tear, and get vengeance for the ache in her chest.
