Lovely Belrose (dressed as Ghost the direwolf — tight white leather pants, white fur lined boots, a sleeves white top with an attached hood, complete with wolf ears, and a pair of white, fingerless, furry wolf paw gloves. He even took the time to apply red eyeliner.)
Lovely didn’t particularly care about this event. (He didn’t particularly care about anything except himself and the idiot he was with, but that was another subject altogether.) He didn’t care about the Botanical Gardens, or about Halloween. He didn’t care about the prizes, or about the stupid maze full of stupid plants for a bunch of stupid people to ooh and aah over. He definitely didn’t care about Destiny City, or whatever charity this event was supposed to be benefiting.
But the food was free.
If living without his family’s money for over a year had taught Lovely anything, it was that the opportunity for free food should never be wasted.
Only when Lovely had piled a large helping of said food onto a plate did he bother to follow Ilian over the tall man dressed as… the devil? Some generic demon? It didn’t matter. He was nothing and no one, as far as Lovely was concerned.
He didn’t greet Seth. Lovely frowned and glared from beneath his hood, bristling with indignation when Ilian’s introduction seemed somewhat lacking.
“Just some random ******** who got recruited with you,” he sneered. “Yeah, that’s all I am. So is this piece of s**t good for anything then, or are you just collecting recruits because ordering people around gets you off?”
Cara wasn't about to admit that she was jealous of her own flesh-and-blood but... well, she was. Amy was sweet and nice and well-behaved, so she not only stayed out of trouble, she made friends. Which meant she had stuff to do on holidays, whereas Cara... she did have people now, as Forte, but she wasn't really sure that applied to civilian events and holidays. So she had planned on staying back at St. Mags, except...
Except Ally hadn't let her. The older girl had bundled her off in her half-assed costume, and dragged her to this garden event. Which was okay, she supposed, even with the rain that had set in. At least she wasn't having to hole up in her dorm room and listen to the rainfall for entertainment. So she shrugged at Ally and offered a grin - and if anyone called her on it being a little shakier, a little more uncertain than she'd want to admit, she'd knock their teeth out.
"Better to be rained on here than rained on at school. At least there's people here." Not that there weren't at school, but... they weren't people that she liked very much. Nor did very many like her. Which was just fine, she didn't need any of them anyway... and really, she didn't, not with the small group of people she was starting to realize wren't leaving her any time soon...
Her costume choice wasn’t going to be winning her any awards for originality, but Haven had more important concerns in her day to day life. She wasn’t even sure if she could make it to this party until a few hours before it started, so re-wearing the same Halloween costume for the third year in a row was the best she could do at the last minute. The skirt might be starting to look a little on the short side these days, but she could just pass it off as subtly “sexy.” Other girls her age pranced around in worse.
Haven didn’t have any real plans for the party itself. Being social wasn’t really her thing. If anything, tonight was an excuse to get out of the house and do something other than skate her a** off. Maybe she’d have fun. Maybe she’d get bored soon and leave. Either way, at least she was trying.
It took no effort at all to spot Peter in the crowd. He was tall these days (damn him; she’d always miss being able to look down her nose at him), and his costume was about as predictable as hers was.
“We named the dog Indiana,” Haven recited as she came up behind him.
Normally pretty flowers and a garden wouldn't have been his thing but Lysander knew pretty much everyone was going to the party at the Gardens. So not wanting to miss out he had sent a text to Abby and Cordelia to find out if they were going and offered to pay for an Uber so they could all show up together even if they didn't end up staying together for the festivities. He knew there was a damn good chance the girls would leave him alone so he could be a flirt but 'going with them' would still be nice.
He hadn't dressed up much, wanting to be comfortable, but had decided that it was easy enough to do a vampire without going too strange. He'd put on a nice pair of slightly distressed black jeans, glossy dark green shirt, some unneeded overpriced jewelry and a set of costume fangs. He'd also put a bit of make-up on his eyes, thanks to Cordelia, and gone wandering.
With a glass of wine in his hand he'd wandered a bit away from the masses, wanting to see who all was at the party if anyone important he could schmooze with. In doing so he found himself near another young man who was looking rather intently at a plant.
Evren Porter (In her fall lolita but with cat ears and a bell necklace)
Evren took a look at the festivities in front of her. Putting a finger to her check she stared and wondered if everything was going to be okay... it almost seemed like every time there was a big event in this town something bad happens.
Robin loved gardens. He and his mum were cultivating a proper English garden between their two adjoining back yards, with some measure of success. He had to admit, though, that his side of the trellis that separated the yards looked more than a bit tatty. So when the opportunity arose for free admission to the Destiny City Botanical Gardens, he couldn't pass it up.
However, as much as he loved gardens, he disliked rain. So, apparently, did the event staff, since they had crowded the attendees into the reception hall. Disappointed and hoping the rain let up soon, he loitered near the open bar, idly sipping on a glass of rather okay whiskey and watching the people mingle.
As he surveyed the crowd, a familiar head of brown dreadlocks appeared and disappeared again between costumed guests. Robin arched an eyebrow; she looked like that girl he had serenaded a while back while busking. Yvaine, he recalled -- she had offered to put some beads in his blond dreads. She was with another girl (Gwen), probably a friend of hers or something. He had to go and say hello.
Careful to make sure his drink didn't spill, he wove his way across the room, trying to keep an eye on her while not tripping over a dangling bit of costume. Rounding a particularly festive affair, he found himself almost on top of Yvaine and her friend.
"Fancy meeting you here," he said, flashing his patented lopsided grin. "Remember me?"
Adrien gave Yuuri a wounded look that wasn't actually all that wounded and was mostly Adrien just being Adrien.
"I wouldn't kill it," he said with as much dignity as he could muster - which honestly wasn't much. Yuuri's hand received a squeeze as Adrien bent to brush a kiss over his cheek, a quick, affectionate peck before leaning back, grinning down at him with pleasure.
"Okay, maybe it would die a little. But only a little. Want some punch?"
"Stop giving me that look, grumpy face," said Caspian, without actually looking at Michael to see if he was making said face. He knew his husband a little too well, after all. "And don't say that, everything's gonna be fine. You're making a bigger deal out of this than necessary, y'know."
He slid his arm around Michael's waist and looked up at him, mischief in his eyes.
"Come on. Admit it. You're happy to be out of the house."

Seth Volkov ( dressed as a demon, complete with horns and tail in a black skintight, sleeveless turtleneck shirt and black pants with black boots )
It took Seth a moment to realize who was talking to him - and then another moment to make the connection, since he seemed to be slower at that these days. A serene smile was offered to both of the boys, who really couldn't be called boys anymore - at least Iliad couldn't, finally growing into himself as a young man. Seth had no idea about the other.
"Добрый вечер," he said airily. "Good evening, gentlemen."
A brow rose at the snide remark, though Seth seemed remarkably unphased by it. The smile on his face stretched into a grin.
"Lovely Belrose, vas it?" he said airily. "Pity name does not fit face."
"I can't believe I'm coming back here considering what happened last year..." Jason muttered to himself as he and his older brother hung out in the reception hall. Tom looked at his younger brother curiously a bit after stuffing his face with some more food, mostly mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie. "Oh wight, You wold me wast year." He said, food still stuffed inside of his mouth. After taking a minute to swallow he addressed his little brother again. "What happened last here again? I mean I hope it wouldn't have soured this whole place, I've gone here plenty of times to study."
Jason glared at his brother a bit and sighed. "There were attacking plants." In reply Tom rolled his eyes. "I told you there was danger before you moved here right? I'm more surprised you're afraid of going here rather than wanting to go home after that bat attack last year. I thought that would have convinced you to move back home at least to someplace safer." The older one replied, making sure to remind his little brother that this could have been entirely avoided if Jason had just gone back to school and lived with their parents a bit longer.
Jason blushed a bit, his face getting red. "Well... yeah but I can't be a little kid forever you know." Tom cocked an eyebrow. "There's a difference between growing up and getting into danger. I know I sound like a hypocrite telling you this when I live here, but I've been here longer than you and know what's going on a bit better. So... I do agree that this isn't the best place if there's already been a problem here once, but I can't resist free food. And if the plants do attack again, we can just use some of the sharper knives to cut them, right?" He said, grinning at his younger sibling.

They are both open for interaction and can be separated if you don't want to talk to both of them!
There were always beautiful women at these events. Steele sidled jauntily over to the nearest one, flashing her a winning smile with all thirty-two of his pearly whites, a glass of wine held loosely in a tanned hand.
"Well hello there," he said smoothly. "And what brings such a beautiful lady out tonight, might I ask?"
There was a little blond girl in a Rapunzel costume not too far from him. Nathaniel peered at her, then came to stand next to her, giving her a small smile.
"The plants are real lovely, aren' they?" he said cheerfully, the southern accent rolling thickly off of his tongue. "I like yer costume," he added, giving her a nod. "Are you from that...that one Disney princess movie? What was it called?"

Basil Whybourne ( dressed as his usual self, in nice slacks, button down, and vest )
He was startled that anyone had talked to him in the first place, Basil's head raising to glance over at the person beside him, his brows arching. A handsome man, only a little decked out, but looking more at place here than Basil did, at any rate.
"I don't...believe it does," said Basil cautiously, then glanced at the plant again. "Is it supposed to? I didn't read anything on the name plate about it doing tricks."

Guine
not sure if someone's interacted with him or not yet, sorry. '''' free to ignore this if so.
His mother is who encouraged the curious Vi to check out the cool party going on at the Botanical Gardens. He'd always wanted to go there, for obvious reasons, and with it being free... the offer was so enticing. But it meant going alone, which was normal, but also a bit daunting. Surely others would be there in groups, and have friends... but his mother assured the nervous boy that there would be plenty of games and other festive themes he could partake in. And so, with some courage gained from her, he sorted out an outfit for himself. Thankfully good will had a lot of items that would appeal to his idea, and he managed a look that would represent the character appropriately. Anyone who was a true gamer would be able to pick out a Link in a crowd any day! The tunic was pretty short, but he wasn't complaining.
The presentation had been exhilarating for the nature lover, his already sparkling eyes now glittering with concealed excitement over what was available in the lovely place. There was so much he would be able to see.... super looking forward to that tour! A small plate of snacks from the table were picked at from time to time as he aimlessly wandered the room they'd been confined to. Secretly, lowkey, he was eyeing all the cool costumes he kept seeing. A sucker for good fashion sense too, he had his gaze linger longer than necessary on a few, clearly in awe of the craftsmanship. Honestly, it made him feel a bit embarrassed with his own low budget, self-made costume. But at least the greens matched! And he had all the key features.
That rain outside though did worry him a little. Hopefully the walk home wouldn't be too bad. Maybe it'd even let up some so he wouldn't be too drenched.
Michiko was dressed up as a butterfly, she was so excited to be going to the Botanical Gardens she loved plants and gardening so this was a delightful reason for her to get out of the house and see all the different plants. She thought it was fitting that she had decided to dress up as a butterfly her wings her pink, blue, and black. With butterfly spots on them. She wore a black leotard and black tights. On her feet, she wore little black flats. Michi looked around at the others people in costumes who had come to the party. She wondered if they loved plants as much as she did or if they had come because of whatever things were going on at the party that Michi had forgotten about.
He laughed softly at the other man's answer, not expecting something like that. "I think if they had a plant that did tricks they wouldn't have to ever worry about fundraising again. Can you imagine? 'Destiny City Botanical Gardens discovers sentient plant.'"
The country would probably be in shock over news out of DC that wasn't about terrorists attacks. It would make for a nice change of pace though.
"Lysander," He smiled as he held a hand out to the other man.
There was a reason why she preferred to stay in, she admitted to herself, with a grimace. If she could pull out her phone right now she would give her family such an earful for suggesting any of this--
She took in a deep breath, turning to face the man who had decided to come say hello. A vampire, unsurprising. Likely thought himself seductive. Considering the way he said 'hello,' he was definitely flirting. Great. "Hello," she returned, her voice decidedly more neutral than his was. Instinctively, she moved to pull down on the side of her skirt, though it didn't really need it. "I needed to get out of my office for a bit. You?"
She quirked a brow. "Just here to flirt, or?"

Toby Yates* (Dressed like Elf Kirito, but no wig, so reddish blond hair+green strip)
Character’s Name:Toby Yates Age: roughly 15 (birthday next week) Appearance: Green eyed, light skinned boy with short dirty blond hair and one streak dyed green on the left side of his face.
Today, he's wearing a practical outfit for tromping through a swamp... jeans, hiking boots, long sleeved shirt, a hat, and a good stick for prodding into things and leaning against.
Personality Traits: (Full descriptions in quest) Virtues: Assume the Best of Everyone: if it isn't obviously malicious, it clearly isn't. Just Do It: No procrastinating or waffling from him Count on Me!: He does what he can, as much as possible Flaws: Too Trusting: Very easy to abuse his trust Nosy: He wants to know. So much.
The Space Cauldron
A Halloween party! Such a great idea! Toby hadn't ever actually been to one before, but even going to one with his parents (ugh), he was still excited. Naturally, they went off to schmooze with city council, and he noped out of that situation immediately. No fun at all.
But away from snobby old people, there was food! And candy! And really cool plants! Truly, a wondrous place to be, by his reckoning. As he swept through, costume coat flapping in the breeze of it, he looked at everyone around...costumes, curious looking people...he knew none of them, of course. But after stuffing his face with some of that candy, maybe he would go meet some.
Sucked that the weather got bad. He'd been looking forward to wandering around through the gardens...but there was enough to see inside. And he had a fistfull of raffle tickets, so hopefully he'd win something. His big silly grin certainly made it seem like he thought he would.
Jordan Riley (in a simple dress) Jordan didn't want to come. They didn't particularly want to be there, mostly because it was one of the few times a year their parents could cajole them into a dress; it was easier, if they thought about the dress as a costume in and of itself, a costume of she-her-hers. But it was still hard.
They just smiled and nodded where it was appropriate. That was it. That was all.
Sunny Dyer (in costume as Princess Zelda) Sunny was, in contrast, delighted to be there! She was less delighted about the plausible forecast of the plants coming to life, considering the disaster she remembered from last Halloween and every other disaster from half the times someone hosted a public event within the last three years; but you win some, you lose some. The autumn breeze was good on her face, nice and cool, and the sound of people chattering made her happy just by existing in the same space.
It was too hard to drop the feeling something bad was going to happen, though, and she kept an eye out.
