The Appeal Round went smoothly; Poppin rolled out, literally, snoozing and then unfurling near the edge of the stage, before letting out a loud snore. The audience chuckled and aww'd, and Trey looked down to Cherish to hold up four fingers. The gekkit bounded forward, neared Poppin, and, when the pokemon snored again, let out a small screech before turning tail and racing back to Trey, earning a laugh from the crowd. Trey's eyes lit up and he leaned down ruffling up the pokemon's ears and giving him a pat. He really did catch on well... it was remarkable. With that, the points were tallied, and Trey and Cherish went first.
The contest went pretty similar to the last one, with Cherish prancing around, the two pokemon interacting with their performances, but this one got much closer than Trey would have liked. The other pokemon got the crowd more riled up than they'd been the entire contest, and he could tell it earned her some extra points. It got him nervous, but not Cherish-- he remained calm and playful, as if all he cared about was the attention, and the performance. It was admirable, and he carried his tail high and let it sway happily throughout, even as he repeated his best attack in a last-ditch effort to maintain their lead. It worked, barely. Luckily, the first penalty for a repeat move wasn't too dire, but still.... that was close.

✪Walking Pokemon ⇨ Buns, the Lopunny , Dracovoir the Gardevoir "Geez, Naomi do you only ask questions?" He was growing annoyed of all the inquiries about every little thing. It was as if his pupil had never done anything wrong before! Dallas brushed off the question, and was happy when Naomi finally fell silent, mid-sentence. Finally, he thought. But then there was another outburst. Dallas glanced over at Naomi, and smirked. "I just don't want to get my clothes goofed up," he said. "What, you got a problem with me being shirtless? Wait a minute...does it turn you on, or something?" With a mocking laugh, Dallas struck a nice, muscular, flexing pose. "Aw, do you want your senpai to notice you, Nao-kun?" He winked at his kouhai before laughing again, much louder. "Heh, yeah, I bet you would, perv!" Dallas could feel himself enjoying the moment too much, and got back to brass tacks. " Alright, shut up and pay attention."
After going through which berries were good for what attributes, Dallas started working on making a poffin. "It's all about the mix, Perv-kun," Dallas explained. "You have to make sure to stir it up nice and evenly, but let it sit to thicken up, too. You gotta have...whatchacallit? Finesse." It was tricky to perform the act on a coffee maker turned hot plate, but from all of his practice when he was in disciplinary school, he was making it look easy enough. "Hey, I'm gonna borrow one of those Petaya Berries," Dallas said while in the midst of taking and dicing it up. "Okay, mix, stir, set, stir, rest...alright, now we set it aside and let it solidify. Easy as hell, even you could do it."
Once that was done, Dallas also walked through Poke'blocks. There wasn't a real difference between the two, but they were preferred by some. It was mostly the same concept, except you shaped your concoction into blocks. As Dallas had warned, his hands had berry residue on them from making the mix, and he got a little bit on his cheek, but he hadn't noticed. Meanwhile, Dracovoir perked up at the smell, and started to growl in hunger. "Not yet, girl! Just wait until we see if Pervy Nao-kun can make his first." Dallas passed over all the utensils and tools Naomi would need. "And use whatever berries you want from my stash. Most of 'em were...gifts, so why not share the wealth?"
Naomi found himself speechless, from both Dallas' actions and the terms he used -- he hadn't even none he'd known what a 'senpai' was. "I just did not expect it," he explained meekly, eyes still on the ground; the floor pattern the staff had chosen was exquisite, he'd have to ask who their interior designer was... Thankfully, he only had to endure Dallas' teasing for a short while, and when the blonde himself insisted they move on, Naomi only nodded his head, and eagerly at that.
He lifted his head up, just high enough to watch Dallas' hands, and stared, transfixed on the process of poffin making. He made it seem so easy, explaining each step as he performed them, but Naomi found himself caught up on a certain few. He was also a bit wary of using a coffee maker, but he wouldn't be scared off! At least not until he'd given this his own attempt. Naomi waited for his teacher to finish making his own poffin, making mental notes along the way. "You are very skilled, Dallas. Where did you learn to do this?" he asked (yet another question) about halfway through.
Dallas passed over his tools, silently announcing he'd finished with his own poffin, Naomi took notice of the berry juice staining his hands and frowned gently. He gave his outfit a cursory glance over before strutting away to the bathroom, grabbing his bag on the way back. When Naomi had returned he had changed outfits, donned in a bright yellow shirt that said 'I LOVE KANTO' in red yellows, and white khaki's. It was quite the contrast from his usual attire, but he wasn't going to risk having that stained. "I bought this from a tourist shop in Kanto," Naomi explained cheerfully as he rejoined Dallas, in case he was curious. With the worry of his clothes being ruined now out of his way, he could put his full attention into creating his first set of poffins!
Excited, as always, the teen set out to work. Taking Dallas up on his offer, he snagged one of his Liechi berries, and with his knife cut it into thin slices to add to the rest of his mixed berry salad. He furrowed his eyebrows and he stuck his tongue out the side of his mouth, subconsciously, as he worked carefully. Unfortunately, he managed to burn the majority of his preparation, and what little he could salvage was only enough to make a single poffin from. But, from the way he beamed, Naomi was quite proud of his lumpy creation and he spun around with the treat, still warm, in both hands to show to Dallas. "Look! I did it!" he proclaimed, as happy as could be. He stopped, noticing a smudge on his face, and then reached behind him to grab a napkin. "You have... a little something on your cheek," he explained before pointing to the same place on his own face.

✪Walking Pokemon ⇨ Buns, the Lopunny , Susan the Gardevoir Dallas may have had a furrowed brow, but he really did like how impressed Naomi was with him. "Well, you see," Dallas started to say. He had to come up with something other than 'Oh yeah, I used to make poffins in my dorm/cell when I wasn't going to remedial classes at a juvenile detention school!' So, just like most nice things that Dallas had or did, he chalked it up to Austin Tucksworth. "Austin taught me," the thug continued. "He started teaching me how to help him out, since he's so busy all the time. You know, doing fancy pants loser stuff." It was odd, talking about himself in such a way. But, he knew that at the end of the day, Austin Tucksworth would be the coordinator extraordinaire, not adult delinquent Dallas Tucker.
When Naomi took off to the bathroom, Dallas waited impatiently. "What's wrong? You get so hot and bothered that you had to spank the Mankey?" Dallas laughed at his own taunt, though the laughter died down rather quickly. It was hard to pick on Naomi! He was too chipper and eager to learn; most people had either ran off or fought Dallas by now. Thoughts of Saru and Chibi popped into his head. Maybe if Dallas wasn't the way he was, he could've been pals with those two travelling monks. Nah. Screw 'em.
When Naomi finally returned, Dallas had one thought: SO CUTE! Naomi looked dorky as all get-out to the thug, but it was in such an innocent fashion that he couldn't help but feel his cheeks redden. He quickly placed a hand over his mouth as if he was stifling a laugh, and tried to regain his composure. "Yeah, you definitely bought that at a tourist trap," he replied. "Damn, and I thought that the dress you were wearing was bad enough. Oh, I'm sorry- your yukata." He felt his blushing subside, but took an opportunity to snap a picture of Naomi with his communicator. "If I ever have a crappy day, I can always look at this and remember that at least I didn't dress like a total spaz," he explained with a mean chuckle. "Now, back to it, moron."
After Naomi finished up, Dallas glanced at the lumpy, inconsistent poffin. Was it edible? Probably. Was it ugly? Absolutely. He should've made Naomi throw it out for doing such a bad job...but... "For your first try,"[/color Dallas said carefully, "I think it's okay. You can definitely do better, but hey, you don't have a proper place to cook, so...yeah. good job." It wasn't like him to take it easy on someone, so the words felt odd and misshapen as they came out of his mouth. Speaking of mouth, apparently he had a smudge near his, if Naomi's comment could be trusted. Dallas took the napkin from Naomi without rudely snatching it up as he was wont to do, and wiped away the juice. "Th..thanks, Naomi," he said softly.
Luckily, Dracovoir started to swat at Dallas, demanding food in a loud, obnoxious way. "Okay, okay okay!" Dallas scooped up the still warm, greenish poffin, and gave it to the Gardevoir. She quickly scarfed it down with no grace whatsoever. "Well, she likes it, at least," Dallas muttered. "I really hope this works.." After finishing, Dracovoir scrunched up her face and held her head, much like a Psyduck. the tougher aspects of the Poffin were obvious; her horns got bigger, as did her teeth and clawed hands. But when she opened her eyes, they seemed to have more intelligence to them. She looked to Dallas, and blinked twice. Me happy for Alpha's food! Her words didn't come from her mouth, but from her mind. She could speak telepathically! "Hey, can you understand me?" She nodded; Me unnerstan, Alpha. Me more smart now! She smiled a toothy grin, but quickly shot a look at Naomi. You Beta! You give me your nest and food! She was motioning to Naomi's bed and poffins, much to Dallas' amusement. "Easy, girl, if anyone's gonna take Beta-kun's stuff, it's me....speaking of, you need a name...something less scary than Dracovoir. Like Susan or someth-"
Su-san? Me Susan? Me Susan! Susan! Susan am me! It seemed that the first choice would do, as Susan began to recite her name over and over again. Meanwhile, Buns causally ate the other poffin politely. "Good grief...she's almost as flighty as you, Nao-kun."

Sighing in relief, Trey swept up Cherish, bundled him up in his arms, and gently scratched him behind the ears as he headed off the stage. "What about this one?" JR asked, standing off the steps, waiting for him with Shade in his arms. The Danshen gave a little chirp to Cherish, and the gekkit returned, tugging in Trevor's arms as if to try and tug him over. Their trainer made his way closer, loosening his hold on the gekkit, while shifting his focus to JR. He gave a glance to the side and a nod of his head to indicate moving away first, while Cherish semi-crawled out of his arms to sniff and gekker quietly at his friend. He gathered both pokemon into his arms, freeing his companion of the burden of holding his pokemon, and started walking.
"He'd be grand at Smart contests, but I'm jus' not quite sure what tricks he could do...." he mused, once they were a safe distance away. He still kept his voice low, as Cherish moved around in his arms, licking Shade, before crawling to stand over him, then moving half up on Trey's shoulder, then his other shoulder, and so on, curiously looking around with interest through slanted eyes.

He made sure the bow was properly tied and aligned, glancing over his shoulder, and growing nervous as he noticed a bit of a crowd forming around the competition ring. Would they have an audience? Well, that was something to get used to. Rummy was beaming a smile, tail swinging back and forth excitedly at the sight; where his trainer was nervous he was just flowing in joy. He was so excited! SO EXCITED.
"Alright Rummy, you ready? Remember, this is just for fun but… let’s give it our all!" The Leafeon gave an excited chirp and Sebastian couldn’t help but grin before returning him to the pokeball. Adjusting his own tie and collar, he headed back over and took up his place on the opposite side of the ring, glancing across at the shining brilliance that Olgabeth happened to be. The sun really made her glow and briefly, he was kind of blind. A small group of official looking judges appeared at the side, glancing between the two of them. ” Hello! We’ll be been asked to formerly judge your contest; we’ll be keeping track of the points and announcing the winner once you’ve finished!” Soon they were repeating the rules of the appeal and performance rounds, Sebastian absently nodding along as he fidgeted with Rummy’s pokeball. He vaguely recalled the rules and straightened up only once the judge announced that they were free to begin.
”Alright, dear Mistress Belladona! Time to shine like the beautiful star you are!” Olgabeth announced, tossing the pokeball with a spin of her dress. The Bellossom didn’t hesitate as she appeared in a flash of bright light, the leaves of her skirt and flowers on her head glistening with a well-placed sheen spritz. Her trainer beamed before giving a little clap of her hands, the pokemon responding immediately and spinning a little faster as a flurry of leaves surrounded her before she game to a stop, the leaf tornado continuing briefly before they exploded into shimmers of light as the Bellossom took a bow. The amount of ‘ooos’ and ‘aaws’ from the crowd from the display were hard to miss and even Sebastian was caught up in it. Oh wow…
Right, right. He pulled himself back and stared at Rummy’s ball, confidence waning. They could do this. They could do this. "Alright Rummy, show’em what you can do!" He announced as he chucked the ball forward, watching the Leafeon burst forth in prideful glee. Well at least someone had confidence. With surprising grace, the pokemon managed to land on his feet, chest puffed and grin beaming as he proudly displayed his bow. Sebastian gave a little smile before instructing him further and without hesitation, Rummy tilted his head back and unleashed a (for once) well concentrated energy ball up into the sky, the light from the move giving him a glorious glow before bursting into its own state of sparkles and raining down on the Leafeon. Not a bad start, not bad at all…

”What a precious little cabbage!” Why did she keep calling Rummy a cabbage? Sebastian shook his head, glancing the at the judges who seemed to be tallying before one pointed in Olgabeth’s direction to indicate she would be moving first. The young woman beam, hand flourishing out in the direction of her pokemon. ”Mistress Belladona, show the magic of nature! Magical Leaf!” The Bellossom gave a little ‘hmph’ and bow, beginning to slowly spin and turn in place like a ballerina as little shimmering leaves shot out from her. They followed in rhythm with her actions before they were dancing alongside her before shattering in a shimmering display.
It was very pretty. Sebastian frowned a little, deciding it was best to start off strong. "Alright Rummy, Energy ball!" Rummy chirped happily and began running about the ring, slowly forming the energy ball. Sebastian was nervous as the Leafeon went into little awkward flips and tricks while trying to put the attack together, but it ended up alright as the pokemon gave a final (semi-graceful) flip before launching the ball into the air to explode and disperse. The crowds seemed to enjoy that performance greatly, the clapping far louder than when Belladona had performed.
”Hmph! Belladona! Brighten the day with a Sunny day!” The Bellossom, who seemed rather miffed at the attention afforded to Rummy, didn’t hesitate, energy forming and shooting into the sky to make everything brighter and drowning out the remaining bits of sparkle from Rummy’s attack. "Rummy! Sword’s dance!" Sebastian called, deciding to take advantage of the moment. He really needed to get some catchy phrases or something though, it sounded kind of bad just yelling out moves like he was in some battle. Rummy chirped and grinned though, collecting, and forming energy into sword shapes before the promptly spun in the air and slammed into the ground to create a sort of ethereal display, made even more prominent by the brightened day. Something about that drove the crowd wild and Sebastian couldn’t help but grin at the burst of excited sound that came from them.
”D’awww your little cabbage dog is so precious! Such stunning moves!” Olgabeth gushed, though her Bellossom seemed unimpressed. Without being commanded she repeated her earlier trick with her magical leaves, though they dazzled a bit brighter from the sunlight and created a much more extravagant display. Even Sebastian noticed and for a moment, he paused to think about what they could do. "Rummy," the man called, ushering the pokemon over and whispering in his ear. Once again, probably something to change in the future as well (the prepping with moves business) but the Leafeon’s face lit up in excitement at the suggestion he was offered. Soon he was bounding out and doing flips and being a little bit off as he formed another energy ball though this time, shot at a diagonal instead of just straight.
Sebastian watched and then flourished a hand out of his own. "Alright Rummy, now!" With a proud ‘LEAF!’ Rummy shot forth his own magical leaves, controlling them to encircle the glowing orb of energy still hovering in the air. Soon, the make shift rings were in place, shining from a combination of the light and magic of the leaves, creating a glowing mini-like planet. It was amazing, stable and Sebastian couldn’t help but stare in pride. Even the crowd was stunned. When it dispersed in a little ‘poof’ the crowd was practically screaming.
That seemed to shake both Belladona and Olgabeth. The young woman composed herself long enough to direct her pokemon. ”Belladona! Show them what a true beauty looks like!” The Bellossom huffed and repeated her flurry of leaves as she done upon entering the field, practically drowning the field in them in the process but still keeping it elegant looking. The remnants of Rummy’s combo were soon swallowed up into her own performance and the crowds’ excitement peeked in her favor. Even Rummy was caught off guard and stumbled a bit, thinking of his own and summoning up a sword’s dance again to serve more as a shield from the onslaught as opposed to an actual move. Which was a shame because the judge saw it and quickly the match was called as completed.
Once everyone could actually see again, there was silence. People excitedly talked amongst themselves as the judges tallied their marks. Olgabeth was grooming Belladona who looked over her shoulder with a haughty gaze. Sebastian was still standing, frozen as he waited the announcement, Rummy seated before him with tail flailing left and right in pride. He’d done well and Sebastian was proud; the wait was killing him though. Soon a judge returned and raised a hand to call the audience to silence and gather their attention.
”Thank you both for that wonderful performance! That was quite the display of beauty. That being said, after a tally of our marks, we’ve found, Sebastian watched sternly as the judge raised a free hand in the air… and pointed in Olgabeth and Belladona’s direction, ”that the winners of this contest were Lady Olgabeth and her Bellosson, Mistress Belladona!”

Placing Cherish back on the ground, Trevor held up Shade, who looked back at him with one round, observant eye. "I could maybe put a monocle on yeh. Make it be loik glasses or somet'ing...." he mused. He still wasn't sure about actual performances. Unsurprisingly, he didn't get much in response, and lowered the pokemon into his arms, looking over at a nearby contest that Cherish was curiously caught up in watching. He pivoted around to better watch, before his eyes widened, noticing the beautiful performance a little Leafeon was putting on on stage. It was a combo, too-- something pretty hard to pull off, but he did it elegantly. Given the nature of the attack, he'd assume it was a beauty or smart contest that they had going on, but given the category of the moves... probably beauty.
He gave a short little exhale, still watching. He really needed to practice more. There was no way his pokemon could do a combo like that. He had a thousand ideas, but Cherish was still at the level of "running around and being cute", and Shade.... Shade hadn't had any experience at all. He sighed, turning away. The leafeon lost, but the performance was a good reminder on just how much work he had to get done. He still needed to make up some poffins, too, but.... he wasn't sure he really had enough of the right ingredients to make them the best. And if he was going to give his pokemon poffins, they were going to be the best.

Sebastian slumped a bit in defeat as the crowd cheered at the announcement, watching Olgabeth give a squeal of delight before she and her pokemon gave the judges a gracious curtsey. Even as he tried to remind himself that this had been for fun and practice, that there was no ribbon on the line or anything to gain other than some experience, the long-haired man couldn’t help but be disappointed. His gaze directed to Rummy who’s chipper-ness hadn’t depleted in the least, chest still puffed and leaf tail still wagging viciously from side to side.
Did he not care? Did he not know? Sebastian had the sneaking feeling… Rummy wasn’t aware they’d lost. In fact, it only seemed to dawn on the pokemon that something was amiss as the crowds began to disperse and the judges headed off to a different venue to judge. The tail wagging slowed and the Leafeon craned his head backwards to stare up at Sebastian with a curious smile. What was going on?
"I’m sorry Rummy," he apologized and immediately regretted it. The pokemon’s wagging stopped and he sat with an alert look that seemed to suggest he was trying to process. Rummy’s head snapped back down and he gave a look around, seeming to realize that the contest was over and that there was no one coming to bring him a ribbon. Soon his ears were beginning to droop. Oh. It was done? Did they lose again? Well that was a shame… he felt kind of… sad.
He didn’t quite get the chance to sink into the feeling though as Sebastian scooped him up, a grin on his face as he held the pokemon up high. "But you did great! That combo? That was amazing! the crowd ate it up!" Rummy blinked and stared, grin slowly returning to his face. Really? Sebastian was proud? That combo had been pretty sweet, Deuce would’ve approved; he’d have to tell him all about it! "If we keep practicing stuff like that, you’ll be winning these things in no time! We just… need to prep a little more. What do you say?"
Honestly? It did his heart well to see the chipperness return immediately to Rummy’s face as the Leafeon squirmed in agreement. Right! They just had to keep practicing! And then they could win all the ribbons! And that was the same sentiment Sebastian had; even if, in the moment, he was forcing himself to believe and ignore the doubt that threatened to dampen the mood.
It was practice and for fun. He just needed to keep repeating that. ”Hey! Excuse me!” Sebastian glanced over his shoulder at the sound of a voice, setting Rummy back down before turning to the young man addressing him. The fellow looked rather dapper but friendly.
”I just wanted to congratulate you! Not everyone has the guts to take on Bethy or her Bellossom.”
"Oh, ah… thank you. I appreciate it, though I think we’ve a long way to go," Sebastian responded with a bit of a sheepish smile, Rummy chirping excitedly at his feet.
”Well, she does have a few ribbons of her own but still. That combo was amazing! Don’t give up, a lot of people don’t have that kind of talent,” the man chuckled, glancing around before extending out a little bag to Sebastian. ”Here! I probably shouldn’t be sharing with ‘the enemy’ or anything but… maybe these can help you out a bit.” Taking the bag and opening it up revealed three berries hidden inside, which earned an eyebrow raise out of Sebastian. "Oh! Thank you," he responded appreciatively. Not that… he really needed more berries but he supposed it was the thought that counted. ”Of course! You should really check into poffin making, it’s a big help. That’s how Belladona advanced.” Sebastian nodded, hiding that he was pretty much already aware of that fact before wishing the young man well as they parted ways.

Sebastian took a moment to store the berries away in his berry case, before collecting his things and Rummy and wandering to find his pokemon. They actually… probably did need to make some poffins but first he needed an interest check. The purpose of the whole thing had been to try and convince the two that it would be worth their time to compete. It wasn’t long before he stumbled across the two; Kaiser immediately jumped up and around Blackjack to latch himself onto Sebastian’s braid.
Good ol’ Kaiser.
"So…," he started, trying to ignore the annoying munching noises as the ends of his braid were subjected to violent treatment, "what’d you two think? Would you be interested in contests?"
Kaiser gave a muffled ‘bleep’ between his chewing, a clear look of disinterest etched on his sheep features. Evidently, the contest hadn’t impressed him (or he hadn’t been paying attention) and Sebastian couldn’t help but sigh. He directed his gaze to Blackjack, eyebrow arched curiously. The Houndoom…. Looked like he was interested. His gaze was a little wide and the man could tell he’d been watching with a bit too much intensity. Blackjack seemed to be catching on that a question had been posed to him and lowered his gaze briefly, shuffling in place and looking back up at his trainer with a sort of… expectant look. Sebastian tilted his head.
"Are you interested Blackjack?" The man couldn’t help but smile a little as the Houndoom gave a bit of a nod. Well, one for two was better than nothing!
"Great! Awesome buddy, we’ll get you set up in no time, okay?" He grinned, rubbing the devil hound’s head in response, which seemed to be appreciated. With that (semi) settled, Sebastian took a moment to look around. There seemed to be an area dedicated to poffin making (which was great) and it only took a moment of thinking before he decided that was the next place to go.
"Alright, let’s go guys," he remarked, snatching up his case of berries (because he was going to use some of these things up) and herding his crew that way; hopefully he’d find some tips on making the best possible poffins as well as maybe a free station to cook some up…

Heading towards where some of the poffins were, Trey began rummaging through his things. He stiffened and pressed his lips together as he realized he didn't exactly have a lot to make poffins with, and not nearly enough to work out something perfectly. He'd probably have to work with someone.... Whatever. He could manage that, it wasn't like making poffins resulted in a committed friendship. Rivals could make poffins together, if they were both honest competitors; after all, the best test ought to be how things were used, the movesets and strategies, not just the effect the poffins gave. He rubbed the back of his neck as he neared the area, pulling out a small notebook to flip through. He'd written down ideas, strategies, statistics, recipes... Right now, he wanted to keep focusing on Cherish, since he had no idea what he could do for Shade. Which meant finding a way to get the best Cute Poffins he could.
It occurred to him, of course, that Cherish might evolve, and specialize in something different in the future, but for the time being, cute was his best chance, and he could always try and use berries with secondary effects, too.
He paused when he noticed the man from the contest he'd observed, with his Leafeon and... a few other pokemon. Including one chewing on his hair? Huh. He paused, then shrugged to himself, striding over with JR reluctantly following, apparently catching onto the fact that he'd be needed for "translation" here.
The teen approached the man from behind, tapping him on the shoulder to get hsi attention, before withdrawing his hand to sign, JR easily translating from just behind, arms crossed over his chest and eyes on Trey's hands so it was clear, he wasn't there for interaction, just to translate. "'You did really well on that contest. Thought you should have won. Combos are an inherently difficult thing to pull off,'" he explained. Trevor glanced down to the case, brow furrowing a bit, before adding, "Are you making something?" with JR drawling out a verbal version alongside.
Notes to self: "Elvrick Hirsh" is JR's 'Trainer' persona

Surprised at a tap on his shoulder, Sebastian snapped his attention away from trying to find a cooking station to the young man attempting to get his attention. He blinked and stared a moment as he was signed to, glancing back at the man just behind the teen who spoke. There was a bit of a disconnect for a moment before Sebastian finally realized what was going on.
"Oh!" He pipped, considering the praise a moment before giving another sheepish grin. "Thank you," he remarked, his free hand raised and making the sign for ’thank you’ as well. Setting the case at his feet, he seemed to pause a moment and glance at Jr before looking back at Trey; it’d been a little while since he’d had to sign and proper etiquette was always important. He smiled at Trey, beginning to sign back but speak his words as well, mostly out of habit.
"I appreciate that. Maybe we would’ve, though our opponent apparently had a few ribbons to her name. Still though, thank you. That was our first combo ever actually," he grinned a little and Rummy chirped, clearly aware that he was being talked about to some degree and looking prideful in the act. Not that Sebastian could blame him, he deserved it. "Hopefully, next time we’ll win."
He noted Trey glancing down at the case before the remarks about what he was up too appeared. Sebastian nodded, "Yes! I was checking out the stations to make poffins possibly. What about yourself?" The teen didn’t exactly look like the type to be interested in contests to be honest, but then again, couldn’t really judge a book by its cover could you?

The teen blinked a bit, raising his eyebrows in surprise when the man signed. His mouth ajar, he gaped as he signed along with his words, before breaking into a bright, eager grin. He gave a sly, playful sort of look and leaned back at the remark. "I won't challenge you to a competition, then," he joked, before dropping his hands to wait for Sebastian's answer to his question. Honestly, it wasn't often, at all, that he encountered someone who could sign. Usually it was JR (or whoever he could drag into it), translating for him, and occasionally censoring him. They hadnt been traveling together very long, but it was long enough for him to know he could get away with slipping stuff in, and JR would cover for him (and lie). Obviously, that wasn't really an option here, not that he had any reason or intention to do that.
He tilted his head at the answer, before signing back. "Same," he signed, a bit slowly. He gave an indicative gesture to the case. "What do you have? Maybe we can help each other out," he suggested, before folding his arms loosely over his chest. If he had some of the berries he needed...
Notes to self: "Elvrick Hirsh" is JR's 'Trainer' persona

Naomi nodded his head, impressed but not surprised that it was Austin who had taught Dallas; he was, after all, a coordinating expert. "Do you think he will be here?" There was a good chance, seeing as how large this event was, unless he was still being kept busy by those errands he had. "Perhaps if he does, you can participate in contests without the worry of having to explain every move you make," he suggested. There was an added 'and be free of me' that was unspoken, but if it'd been, Naomi would've added it in the same matter-of-fact and chipper man as the prior sentence had been. He got the feeling that Dallas wasn't his biggest fan, and he was fine with that; he was just happy the male was willing to teach him in Austin's stead.
Once out of the bathroom, and in his new clothes, Naomi took the opportunity to look down at his outfit as Dallas called it to attention. "I think it is very nice. But yes, that is what it is called: a yukata," he defended cheerfully, rather proud Dallas had remembered the proper term for his previous attire, and plucked at the bright material lightly. When he looked back up, he found a communicator being pointed in his direction. Instinctually he brought up two fingers, then smiled for the camera. Naomi pouted a bit, "it is not that bad", but even that didn't last long as he began to smile. "But, if you my picture can bring some joy to you, then I am glad, even if it is at my own expense." There was no use in getting upset, not when there was such an easily discovered bright side to Dallas' words.
At the same time, his insults, Naomi was becoming accustom to those. His approval and compliments, however, they left him in a state of shock, if his widened gaze raised eyebrows were of any indication. Naomi, as always, recovered quickly enough. "Thank you!" Now beaming, he took his result over to his pokemon to show it off. Ieyasu, his supporter in any and every venture he tried, huffed rather cheerfully (his way of showing his approval), but then stepped back to allow Mori and Jingū to gawk at the misshapen poffin curiously; the burgundy treat certainly smelled pleasant enough, and so it was given a, figurative, thumbs up from them as well. Naomi's cheeks began to hurt from smiling.
Unsure of who he'd let eat it, Naomi pulled the poffin away before either of his younger pokemon got the wrong idea, and turned around to watch Dallas feed Dracovoir. He blinked in surprise when, after scarfing it down, a telepathic voice began to fill the room; he was aware of a psychic's, and ghost's, ability to communicate with humans, he'd just never thought that said ability could be learned--or regained, rather--from eating a poffin. Naomi looked back down at his own poffin, a curious look in his eye, and wondered what properties his would increase. And then that psychic voice was directed towards him. "Me?" Naomi pointed a finger to himself, just to clarify that he was the 'Beta', before he grew silent. He wasn't... quite used to being threatened by a pokemon.
Ieyasu, on the other hand, was and began to bristle as his trainer was threatened. Not only was his person being threatened, but his property! And, in a certain sense, the Eevee's as well! After all, he was currently laying on the bed that he and his human would share, and there was some chance of him being given the poffin. Fortunately, Dallas seemed to reel in the Gardevoir, and dissuade her from taking action, though it wasn't enough of a reassurance for Ieyasu to calm down. Not yet at least. "I... suppose she is," Naomi agreed slowly, unsure of how to proceed from there, even as he watched 'Susan' ramble on about her name. But, he'd try. "...Dallas, would you be willing to be my opponent in a contest?" Naomi asked, blue eyes ever so slowly peeling away from Susan to her trainer. "I believe it would be good practice for me and my pokemon."

✪Walking Pokemon ⇨ Riptide, the Aklor and Susan, the Gardevoir
Before Susan could get territorial with Ieyasu, Dallas had gotten her sit and be a good girl. At least, for now. "Don't try to cause trouble, Susan," he scolded, making the Gardevoir huff and cross her arms. Fine! But only because Alpha is in charge! Her 'Alpha' sighed, and rubbed his temples. "Dallas, Susan. My name is Dallas." She nodded, and proceeded to refer to her trainer as "Dalpha" from now on. Good enough, he thought.
Before he could peruse the brochures on how to better handle Susan, Naomi made an unexpected request. "You? Compete against me? Don't make me laugh!" The 'teacher' stood up, and started to redress. "Then again, I guess it's never a bad time to learn how to cope with complete and utter defeat. You know what? You're on, Nao-kun." Dallas returned Buns as she slept off the poffin she had consumed, and proceeded to head to the door with Susan, who dutifully tried to carry her Alpha's bag. "We'll dish this out over at the courtyard out front. Ten minutes, or your a** is grass, got it?" And with that, Dallas was gone...
...but he didn't end up going too far away. He was looking for an empty room, and eventually found himself a janitor's closet. And, with a lot of help from Susan, he was able to change from shabby thug to debonair gentleman, Austin Tucksworth. "Well done, my dear Susan," Austin had said to her. Susan confused; why Dalpha speak funny? Austin rubbed his chin as he thought of a reason. "It's...a...well, a disguise, like camouflage in the wilderness. To keep away from predators and the like." As the gears clicked, Susan let out an enthusiastic "ooooooooh!" Susan unnerstan! Susan no reveal Dalpha's sneaky plan!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If Naomi had shown up at the courtyard at the right time, he would come face-to-face with Austin Tucksworth, who was prepping Riptide for a contest. "Well, if it isn't my star pupil, Shimizu-san!" He gave the younger man a polite bow, and continued his work. "I ran into Mr. Tucker a moment ago, and I insisted on seeing what progress you made with my own eyes. From what he had seen of your team, a Cool contest would be your best theme for the time being." On queue, Riptide (now donning a nice, shiny sheen with the ever-handy cape hooked onto his spike like a claimed flag) showed off a new move it had learned as his jaws crackled with electricity and snapped down like an iron vice. The small crowd that was gathering gave out "Oooohs" and "aaaws" before dying down at the Judge's request. "Well, then, Shimizu-san," Austin said, standing battle-ready, "Prepare yourself and your Poke'mon!"
