Ginger Crispin Did love flowers, but damn, she sure loved extra credit too, and lord knew she could probably use it.

She'd missed a class or two, oversleeping after nightly wanderings with her bat, and she couldn't miss too many or her parents would hear about it, and then there would be no patrols and no meet ups with new friends. Right now though there was just a big crowd, an extra credit assignment, and flowers that glowed.

She'd heard about projects to make things luminescent but she didn't remember seeing if that was what they'd done here. She wondered how they had done it though.

Also if it would come out if she tried to take any pictures with her phone.... man though if only there was a way to make a tattoo have that effect, that would have been amazing. Still.

Mercy Haynes
"Well if you ever need an excuse to duck out, or you know, want to take me as a plus one for your sanity, I'm totally down for that too... Gives me a reason to dress up, you know?" The last part was kind of said with a sigh. Because yeah it'd be fun to dress up but she'd not really be doing it to impress anyone and the one person she wanted to impress well....

He probably didn't care and probably thought she was silly, or clingy... or both and that was the worst.

Still, she pushed the thought from her mind and smiled back up at Delilah. "I hope it's not all vegetarian either, this is the only time of the year you should really be going nuts on all the food."

After all, aside from Thanksgiving, Christmas was second to none for encouraging gluttony in all forms.

"You save me, I save you - it's a mutually beneficial thing."

Delilah White/Nick Fox

"Do you really need a reason to dress up? You and I both know have the fun is the shopping." Delilah admitted, a smile forming on her face as she finally noticed the man she was looking for.

That was her cue.

"Hey Mercy, would you mind holding our spot in line? I saw the drink line was short and wanted to grab us some hot chocolate before they ran out!" Delilah didn't give the girl a chance to respond before pulling back and disappearing around to the drink area.

Quickly grabbing a pair, almost forgetting to pay for them in the process, she did her best to keep out of Mercy's site. At least until she appeared behind a young man in glasses.

"Was scared you weren't going to show." Delilah admitted, eyeing the young man.

Nick jumped at the voice and even more so as the hot chocolate was thrown into his hands. Looking down at them, he gazed up at the woman he assumed to be the reason he was here. Delilah had not given him a choice. When someone calls your phone until you answer it, you finally give up and answer...

"Um...what's this?" Nick questioned, holding up the drinks, and trying not to spill them on himself as he got bumped from behind.

Rolling her eyes, Delilah pointed to the line of people where Mercy stood. "Figure it out...you are a smart guy. Otherwise you wouldn't have realized you screwed up." Delilah outed before slipping back into the crowd. There was one more red hair she was swearing she saw.

Weaving through the people, Delilah found the woman in question staring in awe at the tree.

"Cookie? I didn't know you liked flowers." Delilah smiled, coming up and poking the woman on the side.

Nick however stood frozen in place as he looked down at the cups then back at the young woman. Things had been...tense...since Halloween. It appeared Mercy's friends had noticed as well. Delilah had not given him a choice, going as far as to send him a ticket so money wasn't a means out. Now, shaking, he walked forward and came up behind her.

"I hope you like...um...marshmallows..." Nick's voice shook as he extended out the cup to her from the right. "Um...Hi?"

" 'Lila!" Ginger lit up as bright as an over decorated Christmas tree, radiant with open glee at seeing her friend, even though she jumped a bit at the poke.

"Have you run out of apples yet?" She asked, winking, and added, deliberately slipping an arm out of her coat and sliding up her shirt sleeve to flash the scorpion and cactus blooms. "Hon I love flowers and animals both, nature is miraculous at making things that are elegant and dangerous as hell, I'm just trying to do them some credit. At least until I run out room."

She grinned broadly, sliding her sleeve back down and putting her coat back on. "But it's so awesome to see you! Isn't it absolutely beautiful though? I've never seen anything like it! How do you think they did it?"

Mercy Haynes
Mercy wished she hadn't nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard Nick's voice. The color was already rising to her cheeks as she slowly turned around having already jumped a good foot in the air. She was torn between being upset at Delilah for ditching her to this fate, and happy that Delilah wasn't here to see her crash and burn.

"Uhm... hi..." Mercy said, a nervous hand moving hair over her ear that didn't need to be moved. "Is that for me?" She asked, staring for a moment before color rose to her cheeks and she took the offered cup with no further questions.

"Uhm, yes, I like marshmallows..." She managed to not sputter completely.

Again, a nervous hand ran through her hair and she looked down, blushing even more heatedly as she began to fidget.

"Uhm, sorry... About Halloween I mean... I didn't mean to get all clingy and stuff, I was just feeling really awful and I tend to get clingy when I feel bad. I didn't mean to uhm... bug you..." She said, before forcing herself silent with a long drink of the hot chocolate.

Which she instantly regretted because she burned her tongue in the process and... this was just going great.

Clay Mercer

Jason's vague explanation washed over him while he stared at the plan. The glow seemed pretty faint, but he was sure that if the room grew dark, it would hurt everyone's eyes. "Huh. Looks like a ********' yard light. Man, don't they got better s**t to do?" Waste of ******** time is what it is.

A quick tsk and he popped a candied chestnut into his mouth. "Clay," he offered around the munching. "I'm out here for the food. You tried the mashed potatoes? Dude, they're ******** lit. Throw some gravy on 'em and," Clay whistled. "They taste so fine they melt your face off.

"They better than a goddamn plant, anyway." All this for a glowing granny plant. Yeah, even the plant nerds realized the food was where it's at.

Kaida Courcel

Okay, so sure she was going to the botanical garden as her Papa's guest because she hadn't accompanied him to anything the whole year. But that didn't mean Kaida couldn't appreciate the soft, lovely atmosphere of the place. Even if it had been...dolled up in a rather childish way. Though really, Destiny City could always use a little smile.

"Ah! Forgive me, sweetie, but I see Donovan over there. I'll have to leave you for a bit." Kaida chuckled and gave her father a wide smile, shaking her head.

"Go on, Papa! I'm sure I'll find someone I know here with the crowd this is drawing." As her father jogged over to a colleague that was also there, the petite woman scanned the crowd for anyone at all that she recognized. And finally spotted someone. He'd been approached by another person, a rather bright young woman. But...well, she wasn't going to be a wallflower. That was part of why she'd picked up burlesque, after all. Get rid of the wallflower-ing. As she approached from an angle, she put a single finger to her smiling lips, winking at the black-and-blue woman. "Hello, mon minou!" The words were accompanied by a quick tap on Albert's shoulder.

Bailey Jameson

Where there was anything related to gardening, Bailey Jameson was there. The newly-teenaged girl trailed ahead of her brother, eyes wide at the strange new plants that were being debuted. "Oh...oh they're so pretty! Everything here is so pretty! Oh I wish Daniel and Owen had interest in gardening stuff!" She would have loved to share such beauty with her boys.

Delilah White

"Do you have a tattoo for everything?" Delilah smiled, shaking her head as she gazed at the scorpion and cactus blooms. "Still, it is a beautiful combo. When did you get that one?"

They may have met under random chances, a friendship had bloomed and one that Delilah was grateful for. She adored each of her friends but Ginger had proven to provide something else that she never realized she needed in her life: fun.

"I still have half as basket. My mother has gotten ahold of them though so I think a giant chunk is going into the family party in a few weeks. Something tells me apples will be the theme. Have an evil witch costume I can borrow?" Not that she would wear it because her grandmother would scold her and no one disobeyed that woman.

"As for these, not a clue. I haven't gotten that far in understanding plants. I'm still on learning about the basics so nightlight plants..." She shrugged.

Nick Fox
"Oh! Careful..." Nick said reaching out but realizing he could do nothing. Burnt tongues didn't have a cure like eating something spicy did. All he could do was wince.

"Sorry, I...uh...yea..." He mumbled. "Look, about Halloween..." That was when he looked around at the crowd and realized they were staring at them. Not because of how stupid they had to look but because they were blocking the buffet line. "How about we take a walk? There is a snow igloo across the lawn...no bats..."

Caelum Dawson || let's do the thing

Caelum gave Jack a nod and tried to hide his giddy smile beneath a look of anger, as if the other male had insulted his family down to his great, great cousin twice removed. Suddenly, he took a running start at him, and focusing strength into his shoulder, tried to give Jack a good enough push toward the flower display.

Mercy gave him a weak smile of thanks at the somewhat delayed warning, and was about to nod her head at his initial statement when she too, noticed the stares, and clearing her throat she turned and slid out of the line.

"Uhm, yeah, sure... I think the friend I came with got lost anyway..." She said with another nod. "I'm all for not having to deal with bats..."

She moved to walk beside him, trying to not get too close, since you know - she didn't want to be clingy...

Jack Burnett - distracted by Jeremy in his police uniform and caught off-guard by Caelum

Just as Caelum gave him a nod in confirmation, Jack noticed a certain uniform out the corner of his eye and turned his head ever-so-slightly to try to get a better look at its wearer without seeming too conspicuous. Sure enough, it was a cop. A cop was watching them. A young cop, but he didn't look like he could have been easily fooled. To Jack, the mere fact that his attention was directed their way before they'd even started anything was a sign of how experienced the officer must have been in dealing with trouble.

So focused was he on the uniformed police officer that the red-head momentarily forgot that he'd invited his peer to attack him. He'd been expecting Caelum to yell at him or give him a warning shove to start a small skirmish and escalate it from there. Thus, when the pink-haired teen began to run at him, he barely had enough time to register the attack, let alone brace himself for it. As a result, he went flying back into the Christmas-tree-shaped display of Winter Star poinsettias, his impact much greater than he'd intended.

Jeremy

While Jeremy was off duty, it didn't mean he was going to stand by and let two kids mess up some event just because they were horsing around. He set his plate down on one of the tables near the buffet and moved to the young men quickly.

He didn't manage to make it before Jack went flying into the poinsettias, but thankfully whoever had fastened the tree managed to set it up well enough that it only teetered a bit. The poinsettias seemed to flash a little from the impact but seemed relatively unharmed.

Still, it didn't sit well for Jeremy. He grabbed the back of Caelum's shirt, dragging him with him before he grabbed the back of Jack's and heaved the boy up.

Jeremy kept a firm grip on either of them and forcibly held them a few feet apart. He might not have been the biggest, most intimidating guy, but he'd perfected his stink eye--and the police uniform could only really work in his favor, here.

"Boys," he said sternly, "Really don't think you want to be fooling around in here. If you got a problem, why don't you take it outside, away from all these people? Or do I need to call your parents and have you escorted out of here?"

Caelum Dawson || crap

The complete and utter satisfaction Caelum was hoping to see of possibly radioactive poinsettias and dirt cover the floors were suddenly snapped away from him with that sharp jerk on the back of his shirt. The smile he wore suddenly turned to one of complete surprise as he looked up to Jeremy and flustered in embarrassment.

Craaaap.

Exchanging looks between the off-duty officer and the redhead, Caelum swallowed dryly, before sputtering out, "N-n-no, sir. You, uh, err, d-don't have to do that. It was just a small spat. Nothing more than that. Really."

Jack Burnett - focusing on keeping his composure and acting accordingly as he's dragged aside with Caelum to be given a talking to by Jeremy

Jack blinked as he tried to check what the damage was to both him and the display. Neither seemed too badly beat up, so the next step in his plan was to check to see if anything had fallen off the poinsettias. That weird glitter-like substance? Or were the leaves more loose than the glowing stuff? Maybe some had fallen on his jacket and he could -

"Ow," he murmured as he was heaved up by the back of his clothing. Before he could check to see if his true endeavor had been successful, it seemed he would have to endure a lecture. He sighed, but otherwise gave no sign of concern for their situation. When he snuck a glance at Caelum, though, the pink-haired teenager wore less of a poker face.

"Hey, I didn't do anything but get shoved!" Jack cried, suddenly acting outraged as Jeremy threatened to call their parents. Not that his own parents probably would have cared, but it seemed the proper reaction for a kid in his position. Besides, he wondered if he couldn't turn this around for Caelum. "Besides, he doesn't even want to be here. Why should I have to get kicked out when he's the one who wants to leave?"

A man in a perfectly tailored navy blue suit suddenly slid up beside the police officer.

"If you need any legal advice for dealing with these two unaccompanied minors and possible destruction of property in a public facility," he whispered, giving the man a solemn nod and a flash of too-white teeth. "Here's my card."

The flashy silver card read Steele Moore, Attorney at Law followed by For all your important needs in a fancy black script.

The man disappeared back into the crowd.
