"But--but think about it!" Izzy squealed. "I mean, one glob of your spit would totally drown me! You can put out FIRES with SPIT!!! Most humans can't even do that!" Did Roni totally not know how amazing she was??

She clung tight as she found herself sliding down on top of Roni's head, and then...wait, Roni could turn into a FULL-ON WOLF?? I am so glad we're friends because I totally don't want to think about a predator that big, nope nope nope nope... Izzy's tiny paws and claws hung on for dear life, clinging to the giant wolf's fur as she watched dirt flying. Even some TREES were coming down!

And then there was another wolf barking. This wolf was a lot smaller than Roni, but there seemed to be recognition between the two of them. Could they somehow be part of the same pack? Izzy chose to watch and listen quietly, wondering what would happen next.

As Roni flung a but more dirt into the flames, she contemplated what Izzy had said. She really didn't think it was a big deal. Humans couldn't spit out fires because they were much smaller. That was that.

The moment that she heard Navi's worried barks she stopped and turned her head toward her. She whined in apologize when she realized that she'd accidentally pelted her sister.

"Something started a fire." Roni barked. "Trying to stop it so it doesn't reach home." She then lowered her head to the ground, near her sister's body. "Don't want her hurt either."

She was of course referring to the little creature that now sat on her head.

Her sneezing fit continued and she shook herself a second time for good measure, dislodging more clumps of debris. Roni flattened herself in front of Navi, which gave the much smaller wolf a peek at the small form huddled on top of her sister's head. Green eyes peered curiously at the chipmunk. At least this time the friend Roni picked up was a small woodland creature. Although the fact that it was so comfortable sitting atop a ginormous predator's head made the wolf question how 'normal' this chipmunk was...

Fire. Right. Priorities. At this rate, Roni's well meaning intentions were doing more damage to the forest than the flames. Fire needed oxygen to burn, but having Roni put it out with an old fashioned human 'stop drop and roll' would flatten the forest instead. Bad plan.

The lake wasn't far... That could work. Or it could wind up drowning half the forest, but it was their best option. Taking in a breath, the wolf changed. Fur receded, limbs realigned themselves, and joints popped. It was a well practiced transition by now, and where the four legged canine once stood now crouched a very human girl.

"Roni," she commanded as she straightened, "hurry to the lake." She had no doubt her sister knew which one she was referring to. "Get a mouth full of water. It should help put out some of the fire. Don't drop it all at once!" she hastened to add. "Just small amounts. Only what's needed. We don't want to drown anyone." Her sister's human mouth would probably be best for the task, but Navi had confidence that Roni would realize that little fact.

"I'll stay here and keep the fire from getting closer." 'To their home' went unsaid. Reaching into her waist pack, she retrieved a slim fan. A swift flick of the wrist revealed blue cloth, a gift from an old friend. Navi didn't want to freeze the entire burning area, but she could at least freeze sections to keep the destruction from continuing in the path of her home.

Not waiting to see if her sister did as instructed, Navi began her work. A wave of the hand sent the freezing magic slinging through the air, smashing into the base of the inferno. Freeze the fuel, smother the flames.

Isabelle didn't understand canine talk, but she liked to think that maybe she could be pretty good at reading body language sometimes, and she had figured out that Roni and this regular-sized wolf knew each other. Probably from the same pack, but she couldn't tell who was the leader between them; they seemed to act kind of like equals.

She noticed the new wolf staring at her, and she chuckled nervously, offering a sheepish wave before going right back to clinging to Roni's fur for dear life.

And boy was Izzy glad she was hanging on, because she was completely floored by what happened next! Roni wasn't the only one who could change from a wolf to a human, or from a human to a wolf; this girl could do it too, only unlike Roni, she was a regular-sized human. And she was telling Roni to take a big mouthful of water from the lake and spit on the fire...Izzy TOTALLY WANTED TO SEE THIS!! And then...

"Whoa, did you just FREEZE the trees?? HOW DID YOU DO THAT??" Even for a talking chipmunk, Izzy had never met anyone who could do cool magical stuff like that. Heck, she didn't even know how SHE could talk; she just always accepted it as normal that she could talk with humans and other chipmunks couldn't. It was just one of those things.

The Large Wolf stared at her sister for a moment, before switching back to her Human form. If her sister was in her human form, it must have been easier after all to do the same. She raised up her hands and coaxed Izzy onto her hand before handing her to Navi. It would be easier for her to move quickly when she didn't have her riding along. "You'll be safe with her." Roni told her.

She rose up then and moved as quickly as she could without knocking down more trees. She was sure that her sister was rather annoyed with her for doing it in the first place. Each of her steps was still met with a quake, and how careful she was trying to be, some of the weaker trees ended up falling over thanks to the fire and her earlier damage.

The lake, for her, was only a handful of steps. She lowered herself down to the lake on all fours before dipping her head down and taking as much water into her mouth as possible. As she stood herself back up, she wondered how she was going to be able to let out a little bit at a time without accidentally dumping it all out.

Her quaking steps indicated her return and she looked out over the burning area. Leaning over it once again, she opened her mouth and shut it again as quickly as she could. The first try was a bit much, but it certainly extinguished the fire. She inched forward a bit more and spat out some water. Then again... and again... until she finally ran out.

She then looked to her sister to see if she should get more. She could see that it helped somewhat, but would she be able to get enough to help drench the entire burned area?

Navi was focused on extinguishing the flames through frost, so she did not see Roni shoving a chipmunk at her until the creature was pressed into her hands.

"Roni!" she cried in protest, but it was too late. Her sister was halfway to the lake already. Navi gazed at the squirrel now in her hands, the blue fan dangling from her fingers awkwardly. "You can talk," she stated. Shaking her head, she stepped away from that topic. "Yes, I did." Unfortunately the trees were caught in the frozen crossfire. "I used my fan." Speaking of, Navi gently maneuvered the rodent until she was perched on her shoulder.

"Try not to move," Navi instructed. The tiny chipmunk safely out of the way, Navi resumed her work. With every wave of the blue fabric, the magic responded with frozen chunks of forest.

Before long Roni returned with a river of water to douse the flames. It helped a bit.... Navi frowned. This was getting out of hand. An idea struck her. "Roni, get more. But this time, soak the forest around the fire. If everything is wet, the fire won't be able to spread as easily."

The girl swapped her focus from freezing the fuel to creating blocks of ice to act as barriers for the fire. The ice was course, spiking up at odd intervals. She was rushed and focusing more on speed, sacrificing control.

Isabelle found herself being carefully and gently passed from Roni to her friend (sister? She guessed that they had to be related despite their difference in size and appearance), and she was sitting on the smaller girl's shoulder before she knew it. If Roni was going to be spitting on forest fires, maybe she was right and a little chipmunk would be safer away from the immediate source of the flames!

The girl commented that Izzy could talk, and the little chipmunk nodded, giving another sheepish little titter. The girl told her not to move, and Izzy definitely intended to obey! Heights didn't bother her at all, since she climbed trees all the time, but she wasn't used to going for rides! She held on for dear life.

"Coool!" she exclaimed, watching Navi do her trick with the fan again. She wondered if it was the fan that was magical, or if it was something that the girl could do all by herself.

Roni gave her sister a nod before looking at the chipmunk on her shoulder. Izzy seemed to be enjoying herself. Well, as far as she could tell. She'd never actually interacted with that kind of creature before so she could only guess.

Her job in mind, she walked back to over to the lake and took another mouthful of water before making her way back to the flames. She started close to where Navi was making freezing walls and started dropping gallons of water down around the edge of the spreading flames.

A couple more trips eventually brought her around full circle. She wondered how they would extinguish the rest of it. Maybe Navi's plan was for the fire to burn itself out after. As she looked down, she could have sworn that the ice was starting to melt. The fire seemed odd too but she wasn't entirely sure how.

Navi worked at blocking off the access toward her family's home. If she couldn't put out the fire, she could at least mitigate the damage. As she moved on, the wolf turned girl caught on to what her larger sister had already noticed. The ice... it was melting.

That wasn't right. It was true, her ice could melt despite it being magical in nature. But it shouldn't be melting this quickly. Unless.... unless there was something not right about this fire.

"Roni!" she snapped out, "Can you see the center? Or tell where the fire started?" Her much larger sister had the best vantage point to spot anything peculiar about the blazing field of trees. Her fan stilled, the cloth remaining stretched out and ready to continue freezing. Navi had a hunch. Water did seem to be putting some of the flames out, so at least this wasn't some strange fire unable to be extinguished.

Either they needed some help in fighting this inferno, or they would have to contain it as best they can and let it burn itself out. Unless there was something at the source they could use to cut it off.

Wait, why wasn't Izzy's new companion using her fan anymore? The fire was already melting the ice! They needed more ice, right? Izzy clung for dear life, not really able to do much of anything else at the moment. She was so tiny that the only thing she could do was ride along.

Now Navi and Roni wanted to find the center of the fire, presumably to cut it off at the source. Isabelle hoped that Roni had plenty of spit ready for the forest fire...

Roni, as a response to her sister's request, stretched herself up as best she could to see over the fire. She saw a spot that looked like it had been burning the longest, but it also didn't look like where it started. That was odd. Then she looked near the melting fire and saw... a shape. A very odd shape. "By the ice wall." Roni said. She built up saliva and spit on it.

A roar was suddenly heard by something and she watched as the mass of flames with the odd shaped moved toward another part of the wall. Away from her. "It sort of looks like an animal, but it's all on fire." She clarified. One part of the ice wall seemed to stop melting for a time. Another part, further to the right, began melting more quickly instead.

By one of her walls? But she created those around the edges! It shouldn't be there. "It's mobile," she concluded after Roni further explained. Some sort of fire creature!

Navi eyed her ice, gaze sliding down until she noticed the rapid rate of melting. She would have called up on the eyes of the forest to better scout, but with the flames, she would get nothing but cries of pain. The wolf would have to do this on her own.

Girl and chipmunk began their journey toward the melting ice, green eyes searching for the source of the flames. "Who are you?" she demanded, "Show yourself!"

Izzy had to admit to herself that she really didn't know what was happening here! There was some kind of creature in the flames, but it wasn't hurt? How could you be covered in fire and not be hurting? Isabelle was confused and a little afraid. All she could do was cling to Navi's shoulder as the girl interrogated...whatever was in those flames!
