It seemed others were already here, but even with their slowly growing numbers, the shadows easily outnumbered them greatly. Jake only stared in horror as nearly the whole courtyard was covered with them. How in the world- There was a screech and Jake toppled over as one of the shadows tackled him... right into the jaw of another. HELL no he was not getting eaten today. "Back OFF!" he shouted, slashing through one of them.

Johan raised his katana in salute as he noticed Shun join the fray. At least one other competent fighter on the field. He couldn't speak for the others, but most seemed to be giving a good account of themselves.
Flicking black ichor from his katana, Johan returned the blade to its sheathe, and waited. Some of the shadows dealt him glancing blows, but he waited for the most opportune time, and... STRUCK! Using the same technique he'd first used against Shun, the blade left the sheathe and cut into an enemy all within one motion. Johan whirled, blade up, watching for any further attacks.

Working with other knights was normal, expected even. Cooperating with others was a natural thing for Wilson, but as he watched the other man charge forward, his back shrinking with each step, he couldn’t help but hesitate and tilt his head slightly. There was something vaguely familiar about this scene. Like it had happened before, multiple times.
And in his moment of weakness, Wilson was pummeled by a mob of shadowlings before he could fire off a single arrow. Good job.

Enter Leev struggled her way to the courtyard, pushing and fighting where she needed to. It was all about the fight, they needed to fight. Fight and push back the shadows. Save everyone. Help everyone. These were the things Leev told herself over and over again.
But the courtyard itself was a mess. Battle and blood and darkness. Claws and swords and all sorts of things happening. For one, too-long moment, Leev stood, trying to take it all in. Trying to decide where she could be the most help, or do the most damage.
There. One virtually ready to go ballista, open and waiting. Surely the shadows could not stand up to that. Leev ran over and began to mess with the thing.
It was heavy, awkward to use, but it seemed pretty straightforward. Until she got around to aiming it. Her shot went wide, the kick something she was not prepared for. It didn't hurt, but it did drag the weapon out of her immediate grip, the bolt flying a little wild.
She really should have practiced on these first.

The shadowlings seemed to be catching on. Johan's next few attacks caught only air, but he was still taking damage. The threat of the blade deterred the most vicious attacks, but Johan's strength was being steadily drained.

As soon as he had managed to push the shadowlings off of him, Wilson had lost track of the other knight. His instinct told him to find the red apprentice and apologize, perhaps try another team attack, but another creature had ambled into his frame of view. Maybe he would be able to find the other person. Maybe he would never find them or maybe they were already dead during this brief span of time, but for now he was just going to concentrate on his own fight.
He closed his eyes briefly, took a deep breath. Wilson pulled the string of his bow and let loose another arrow.

Even with more people slowly trickling in, the number of shadows were still growing. At least, Jake assumed so. How did one even FIGHT shadows in the first place? It was a mundane question, because they were going to have to fight them regardless. Jake just sighed and swiped at a few more.
In the meanwhile, where did Morgan go anyways? Surely the shadows didn't eat him? It was a silly thing to ask, but it did make him wonder. And where was Merlin? He had seen Percival already, and he supposed Morgan and Gawain now too. There were still four other great knights, but only Merlin's whereabouts perked his interest. After all, that was the great knight he had pledged to serve under. Part of him wondered if that was the right decision, but... did it really matter right now? Did ANY of it matter?
Why he was even THINKING about this right now was beyond him. There were better things to do. Like not dying.

To Wilson’s surprise, it was another successful shot. He only had a moment, not even a second, to admire his ability (or perhaps it was pure luck) to remain calm enough in battle to actually hit his intended target. He reached back to grab another handful of arrows and notched them at the same time. It was a difficult thing to do, but not impossible.
Wilson closed one eye and aimed at another cluster of shadowlings. As he released his attack, he felt that maybe, just maybe, they would all meet their mark too.

As he traversed the battlefield, avoiding attack after attack from the monsters, Johan suddenly found himself near one of the ballistas. As it was loaded, Johan quickly grabbed the firing end and attempted to aim it into a knot of shadowlings. The recoil from the giant crossbow hit harder than most of the monsters, but he did manage to hit a few of the fiends.
Still, Johan decided his katana was probably his best line of attack and defense.

Black knights, referred to the knights pledge to The Code of Raven was best at soloing. Even the petite dark hair girl was not an exception. The pair of chakram in her hands were like alive as she swung one out to clear the blocked path to follow Morgan. It flew for a distance and she closely ran behind it with another chakram grabbed in her hand to cut the enemies doing close attack. It was effective, soon she arrived at the courtyard with other knights.
Swarmed.
Like attacked by bees, just much bigger in size and more intimidating, the shadows gave no room for them to move. They were surrounded and trapped, like some animal's preying techniques, they were the big feast for them NOT.
She swirled the chakram and cut through the shadows encircled her. The hatred grew in her heart made her attack more destructive. When they were asked to pick weapon, she originally picked a sword but she barely could hold it properly. Someone thus suggested the light weight and versatile weapon to her - that's Chakram, spinning rings with sharp edges.

She decided to try again. It was a little difficult getting the weapon all set up again, but she managed. Her adrenaline was running high, which certainly didn't help things.
But there. All ready to go again. Leev twisted, and tried her very best to aim. There was still a kick, and it hurt, but she hit something. And that made her very, very happy.
