"I dO noT haVe a FACe," Thezil corrected, his voice modulating as it always did, making it nigh impossible to determine his tone. "I AWOkE seVERaL FEw MONths aGO. I Do nOT yET knoW muCH Of HalLOweeN." The statement was accompanied by a shake of his skreeV set of a head, in addition to flashing red lights on its screen.

Idly, his grip grew stronger around Catinka's hand-- she was not a possession, but he would not put it past her to somehow wander out of the window, if it suited her. She seemed to do much of anything, as long as that was the case, and Thezil was not yet learned in what did and did not appeal to the ghoul.

Addressing the entire group, the boil continued: "We ARe TheZIL anD cATinKa. ShE doES nOT saY VerY mUch. GenERAlly, she oNLy says 'oh'." It was uncanny: the oh was repeated in a tinny copy of the ghoul's voice, recorded and played back with dubious quality.

Upon hearing her voice, Catinka, completely unironically, widened her eyes and said "oh."

She used her free hand to try and smack Remi's from her hair, but she missed horribly - which is to say entirely - and after swatting air another time or two, gave up. It wasn't that she didn't like the gesture, it was simply that he was messing up her hair. A rather pathetic pout was turned to him though, one that suddenly became a narrow-eyed grin that promised revenge for her now messy hair, and one that was just as easily smoothed away wth a smile for Yin and the new students.

"Hi, Yin!" The Vetala nodded to the Monster and his Partner, Alex. Merope, Mort, Bella, TK and his guest all seemed busy, and she made a mental note to get their attention later. She did consider calling out to Christof to ask him to settle her imaginary bet with Remi once and for all, but before she could, Thezil's unusual voice pulled her attention, and suddenly he had all of it.

"Oops. Sorry. Figure of speech." Amrita's shoulders lifted, made momentarily shy by her mistake. He admitted that he was new to Halloween, and she looked honestly surprised by the news. "I see. Well then, let me welcome you to unlife too! If you ever need anything just let me know, I'll help however I can." She promised with a nod. In the last few days it had become horribly important to her to reach out to as many creatures as she could; she was not going to let another Aleria happen. "That goes for you too." She assured the little Monster nearby who, apparently true to form, uttered nearly the same oh that had been provided.

It was adorable, and she couldn't help but focus her attention on the ghoul, smiling softly. That was a kind of shyness that she remembered very well. In that moment she understood how Lizzy must have felt back then, because she suddenly wanted to scoop the ghoul into a hug and promise her that everything would always be okay. And give lots of hair pats. Luckily, she stayed in her seat and merely mulled over this out-of-place reaction.

"It's nice to meet you, Thezil and Catinka. I'm sure this trip will be fantastic for the both of you. In the meantime though...did either of you happen to bring cards or something? We've got half a day to waste...I mean unless you'd prefer to quietly look out the window." She wasn't too keen on that option, but if they didn't want to play a game or talk, she could always harass Remi.

As the day grew longer, the train eventually traveled through the grey sands of the wasteland and came to a slow, controlled stop at the entry to a massive, ruined shell of a city. "Students! Fellow adventurers! Such wonders await you, it's in the air! I would be able to taste it, had I but a tongue! Welcome to Terminus, for here we are!"

Eventually they all disembarked in a semi-orderly fashion as best they could, and the group was marched past a welcome sign and helpful map, before being ushered into the city.

Lee hadn't done much traveling after escaping the island, although he'd often longed to see more.

He savored each day under the October sun, as he had in the carnage and bursts of real and fresh fear outside the laboratories. The smell of blood pastries at the cafe he worked at was as intoxicating as the strain of muscles, the dull pain in his hands as he'd worked his way up the Tug-O-War rope.

His body flickered in excitement.

He didn't have many belongings. His clothes were few, and he'd taken his time choosing the +1, but once he made up his mind he rushed down the stairs of the undead dorm in twos and threes, and walked all the way over to Towns, where 77 stayed.

77 had not chosen a new name for himself. Lee had gotten rid of the old numbers (he was 73) almost immediately. The company in the cells was not always kind. Some of the others were mad, gone strange, and 77 had at least not been one of these.

It was 77 he talked with in short, mental bursts through the train ride. Normally shy, it was easier when he wasn't using his voice.

We're moving! Look how quickly.

When Terminus loomed in the distance, his excitement grew.

A City of the Dead! I might have been born here, see the sky, and how tall the buildings reach?

He was, however, not one of the first to exit the train. He lurked by habit, waiting until it was clear and quiet, to slink after the group.

Barth saw a variety of faces on the train, some familiar, some unfamiliar. Belladonna, as always, looked friendly and...ample. Barth had heard, or rather read via signs, the extent of Christof's relationship complications at the moment. He could sympathize.

That side of things was always complicated.

He was therefore relieved to have some time with Christof.

Barth usually traveled light, because anything else meant carrying things, but Christof had fussed over him and he'd ended up taking half his wardrobe, in addition to blankets, tools, some inventing plans, in case he wanted to idle his time.

He gave one last glance at the cabins over thick sunglasses, and dropped into the first available seat. He had the dreadful premonition that adventure might happen, and he was not keen on adventuring with an empty battery.

He didn't stir until they'd reached the Terminus station.

77 was slow to adapt, he clung to habit with all the tenacity of a creature who knew nothing but routine, like a lion used to pacing its cage day in day out. He remembered freedom and how overwhelming it had been, pure and intense in equal measure, he had felt free. But freedom was difficult to pursue when you didn't fully comprehend it, nothing was clear, concepts remained fuzzy and out of reach and the only time he felt truly at peace was when he was in the close dark of a den or the very small room his landlady (a kind reaper who had talked him patiently through the complex nuances of currency and still talked him through it when he forgot ) had given him to live in with its comfy basket. Adventure was not something he was good at, nor were pinned forms but he was very fond of 73 and if the other voice - he was an invisible voice no longer but the association lingered - said it would be pleasant, he believed him.

Without his usual shape, four legs and all, he felt odd, but he was not afraid, instead there was much to look at, much to take his mind off of how strange it felt to be upright and out of his strict obsessive routine.

He didn't smile as he looked out the window, but his mental voice was bright and eager.

Fast! Very fast! he startled a little, leaning back from the window, concious of harm, before leaning closer again. He was ok, they were ok. It doesn't even have legs. He added, as if it had no place being so speedy. 73, We will go back again? He wanted to be sure, he didn't want to be in a new place again, he liked his landlady and the simple physical garden work she helped him do to earn his keep.

His worries fell away as the city drew into view, replaced by enthusiasm despite himself.

Big. Very big. Maybe too big. He could get lost.

Lurking close behind Lee, he waited with the same patience until the way was clear. When he moved however, it was far from stealthy, still not sure what to make of this whole upright thing.

Sophie was excited for the field trip; the ghoul loved adventure and their destination sounded amazing; there were a lot of wonderful treasures that could be found in the ruins. They had been given permission to bring one guest of their choosing and, seeing as the ghoul didn't have anyone special to invite, she had picked up the first student she found who just so happened to be a ghost. Sophie tried to make the train ride as pleasant as possible; making as much small talk as her socially awkwardness would allow. She'd at least packed snacks and a card game inside her treasure trove of a bag.

She had been staring out the window when the train began to slow and she looked up excitedly, almost bouncing in her chair. "Ah! We're here. This is it." She shuffled off the train and stood on the platform; bag swung over her shoulder and waited for Zero to disembark so they could embark on adventure.

Zero had been so excited by the train ride. First of all it was a train ride. Second of all it was a trai- OOH OOH LOOK SOMETHING MOVED OVER THERE GET IT ITS STILL MOVING.

He remained in this state until someone finally mentioned that they were here, and he really wanted to argue that the definition of here was relative to one's position in space and time travel when someone else much more interesting distracted him. He stared at it with wide eyes.

"Hello strange talking undead," he said as civil as he could to Sophie with large, curious eyes, "Are you here to show me science."

Sophie laughed at the boil; at least he was enthusiastic. "You can call me Sophie, you know." Hooking her thumb under the strap of her bag, she shifted her weight a little. "I don't know about science but at the very least we can find adventure." She gave her bag the once over, making she had all the necessary supplies - or at least the supplies she deemed necessary, which was probably way more than needed.

"Well, there's no point standing around," she said she started off walking, making her way to the ruins. "Let's find some adventure~!"

Swish.

Swish swish swish.

HAPPIEST TAIL.

Shehk's face was practically glued to the windows as the train continued on, half watching the venture and half focusing on sitting in Frost's lap just because he seemed to like it when she did that - the whole physical affection stuff. She liked it because he was both cold and warm and comfortable and - "Hey! Looky, looky!" she said, tapping a finger on the glass as the city got closer and closer into their view.

Oh man.

"It's so beautiful."

Christof had seated himself next to the slumbering Barth, mostly to make sure the demon didn't fall out of his own seat during the ride. Barth was, unfortunately, a very accomplished napper, and had left the Igor with little to do but stare at Amrita from across the car in her throng of friends. The stirring to look out the window as the train came to a stop snapped him awake. He shifted, glancing out their own before he gave the sloth demon a quick sharp shove.

And a second shove.

And finally just hauled Barth upright to look out the window himself. He gave a curious noise. He had never been to an Undead City before... there was a high population of undead in his home village, but nothing like this.

He wasn’t quite used to dealing with someone like Mea. There were certain parts of the ghoul that reminded him of Makoto, but it was always clear that they were also two very different entities. She was more childlike and well-meaning compared to the inugami’s willfulness and selfishness. It was nice; her quirks amused him too—how she often swung her legs when she sat down or the way her long ears perked up suddenly at times. Little habits that TK noticed quickly and with a smile pulling at his lips. “I am glad,” he answered, trying to sink comfortably into his seat, but found his knees lightly pressing against the chair in front of him. He hummed, disappointed.

The mouryou leaned over, nearly falling into his lap as she looked out the window. Startled, the skeleton attempted to sit up and reach for her, but she’d already retreated into her own seat. Phew. “Honestly, I do not know,” he admitted, “I imagine there are certain delicacies of course, but taste can be quite relative.” He laughed, hardly surprised by her train of thought. It was the usual for her, he’d quickly realized. “I know the city will be very fun,” TK murmured, his gaze turned toward the outside as the train moved. “Everything,” he answered bluntly as he turned toward her, grinning. “I want to know everything about Terminus.”

As they had promised, the train did indeed come to a gradual stop. He hummed happily, waiting for his guest to rise from her seat and exit into the aisle before he joined her. “Well, how about we take a look around the ruins? Perhaps we can find something interesting,” he suggested.

When Belladonna appeared, Merope was at a loss for words. He looked her up and down, trying to take in all of the details on the dress. As the pair appeared to be busy with each other, what with her fussing over Mort's jacket, he turned his attention back to his book.

It's getting harder to hold the boat steady. You can't hear anything but the roar of water as it rushes by the boat you and your partner are in. By the light of the flickering lantern ahead you can see your partner signal to veer left.

Not too long ago your partner attempted to kill you, to force you to --

There was a hand in the general vicinity of his head.

Merope looked up at Belladonna's offered hand, staring at it blankly. "Er," he began as he carefully raised his hand to take her hand, giving it an awkward shake. Alexander passing nearby earned the zomboil a puzzled look that slid back to Belladonna as he released her hand. "Um. Nice to meet you, miss?" Was that what you were supposed to say? He fidgeted, clearly uncomfortable with the double finery across from him.

He wasn't too sure if he liked this adventure thing. It sounded a lot like Not Science, which was the opposite of Science. So instead of calling the strange talking undead Sophie, and instead of doing as she said he sort of just huddled into a little crouched ball and clung to the closest half-crumbling railing at the railway station.

"I'm not standing," he began, "in fact, if you look at me right now, I am doing the exact opposite of standing, which is sitting. Good bye." What he really meant, instead of good bye is leave me in my corner. Maybe someone would find him and take pity on him and bring him to a safe non-contagious environment.
