The Disorder of Biology 101

The ceiling was such a dull cream colour and somehow even that reminded her of that ******** super senshi Eunomia. It was frustrating beyond belief because Theodora put a lot of effort into keeping her life as Theodora separate from her other life as Nickeline. They weren't the same, and so she tried her best not to think about the other while taking breaks. It kept her guilt free (not that she typically had guilt about beating the s**t out of people) but it could still happen and she'd like to avoid such an incident from screwing up her nap-time in geography class. However, it was that very situation that was causing her such grief right now and the only difference was that it wasn't guilt so much as rage and the class was biology.

It made no sense! Absolutely none of it! Not just the biology but also the fact that Eunomia had actually been winning that fight. It wasn't a thought that she liked to face so internally her thoughts raced and raged about the complexities, trying to find a flaw in what had been happening. From what Theodora had been able to deduct, Eunomia was a decent fighter even her strength and stature but her magic wasn't very damaging. Their first fight had been really quite in Theodora's favour, and the thought recalling it brought a small smile to the teenager's face. It had been so night to get Eunomia on her knees but last night hadn't been the same kind of fun! If it had continued, it might have been her on her knees and that just wouldn't cut it. Surely it had been a fluke.

What had changed their standings? How could someone's power increase in such a small time frame? It made no sense! It frustrated the student so much that she began to kick the chair ahead of her. At first it hadn't been too distracting and so the student sitting in it seemed to politely ignore it but eventually Theodora was kicking the chair so much that the chair began to rock and the girl fell forward and hit the desk with a yelp. Theodora, being in such a rage, continued to kick the chair until finally the other student stood up and the chair slipped away.

"JESUS CHRIST! WHAT THE ******** IS YOUR PROBLEM?" The student yelled as she turned around to face Theodora. Yelling hadn't been enough to get her attention, however, it had been enough to get the teacher's attention. She turned, a firm look on her face eying the stood yelling rather furiously. Not only had she disrupted the class, but she had always made a large faux pas. Promptly, the teacher came over to find out what was going on, and that was enough to get Theodora's attention, her eyes meeting the pissed off student staring her down. Soon enough, Theodora was taking a swing at the other student.

A quick and short fight broke out before the teacher stopped them, forcing both students out of the classroom. It left Theodora with a thought, an unpleasant thought that echoed something like this: This is all her ******** fault. Stupid Eunomia.

Autumn's Disappointment

The autumn was really starting to take its toll on the flora life in Destiny City's gardens and parks. It left Theodora feeling disappointed as she slowly walked along the worned in path along the flower beds of the park in a overly large knitted sweater that she was practically drowning in. It wasn't her typical thing to wear but it was certainly better than most of the clothing her mother sent her. The only thing she could say she was truly comfortable in was her shoes and that was only because they were hiking boots that she convinced her mother she needed because winter was much harsher here and the girly shoes her mother kept sending her to wear wouldn't cut it when the cold weather set in. They were good for kicking the dirt on the worn in path while she recalled her first two months of school and her unfortunate life recently in Destiny City.

Most flowers in the flower beds were withering or gone, leaving Theodora feeling as empty as the flower beds. It was disappointing, much like her life. She had been seeking comfort in the park but the flowers just were out of season at this point. The closest she could get were the chrysanthemums, showy stonecrop bushes and the beautiful autumn leaves that slowly fell from the trees to fill the colourless voids on the ground.

There weren't that many flowers around so Theodora smiled softly at the appearance of the flowers, slowly finding her way off the path to sit down on the grass nearby. She took a couple moments at first to tend to the chrysanthemum blossoms on the bush while admiring their colour, shape and texture; and then she inspected the blossoming showy stonecrop. It wasn't something she was very familiar with in terms of gardening but she absolutely loved the colour and shape of it. Most people probably wouldn't have stopped to admire it of all things, not with the chrysanthemums nearby but it actually had its own charm to it. It disappointed her to think that soon it too would probably wither and die with the winter's cold and snow.

Theodora wasn't sure what she was going to do when they all died. She suspected that her time that was normally filled with gardening and enjoying the local flora would be replaced with her other favourable activities. It was most definite that she would end up in a lot more fights, and generally cause a lot more trouble than she was already (which was saying a lot considering how much fighting she already does).

"Hm," she murmured, looking at the shrubs and the grass before looking up at the sky. There had to be something she could do, somewhere she could go. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but out there somewhere had to be something. For now she could take enjoyment in these but what about later? That would be a thought for another day.

Like the Good Old Days

With autumn a month into its season, the temperature change had left Theodora's feeling rather disappointed about the local flora. It was going to be such a bare winter, very much unlike her home in Greece. She was used to colour being around all year long due to the variety of flora and the warm temperature that rarely went below freezing. The best word for how she felt was homesick, and that lead to Theodora signing into her laptop's user account and then onto her Skype account. There weren't many people on her friend list, both because of timezones and her desire to cut ties to friends she may have had while in Greece. Useless and unable to help or entertain her the way they previously could, they hadn't remained on her list very long. It had almost solely become a family only contact list, consisting of her: mother, father, two sisters and her grandfather.

Her eyes fell over the contact list with intent, lingering over the online icon for her grandfather's Skype name. It didn't come up very often but out of all of the things she left behind in Greece, Theodora really missed her grandfather and his garden above all else. Sure, her mother and her father were there but she had never been as close to them as she had been her grandfather. It left her with a desire to talk to him, to find comfort in the foreign land and season with his voice (and maybe if she was lucky a webcam view of the garden).

It had been mentally decided, leaving nothing else for Theodora to do but click on the Call button. Ringing signaled the beginning of the attempt, and it continued to ring until finally no response was given leaving a heavy sense of disappointment on the teenager's face. Disappointment or not, Theodora wasn't going to give up just because one call didn't get picked up. She tried again, and when that failed, again. She tried on and off for a half hour until finally the Skype sound of an incoming call echoed off the walls of her room.

"Grandfather!" She explained with more excitement than what was typical for her.

"Theodora, what a pleasant surprise. I had been worried that I missed a chance to speak with you when I seen all your missed calls. Is something wrong? It is unusual for you to call so much in such a short time."

It was true that Theodora was being unusually needy but everything around her seemed to be working against her, so much that she just really wanted some familiarity to her life at the moment. Fights were going badly, the flora was all going into a dormant stasis for winter and most importantly she had been away from Greece since she left. She hadn't gotten to go back over the summer as she had originally planned due to having to attend summer school and that meant that all the plans she had with her grandfather had been cancelled.

"I just missed you," she said matter of factually, a large pout clearly on her face. It was so nice to talk to someone in Greek and have them understand her, and more important to have someone talk to her in Greek. She longed for a conversation that didn't require her brain to work as translation software.

"I missed you too. You know I am here anytime you want, you don't have to be alone." He said thoughtfully, smiling to her over the webcam.

"I know," she said, ridden with a hint of guilt. She had a laptop, she had access but in the end she didn't reach out. "How's the garden back home?"

"Terrible, you know your mother: nothing green on her. I've been tending to it when possible but it simply misses you."

The words weren't anything huge but hearing them brought a smile to the teenager's face. She was being complimented by her grandfather about her garden, and that meant so much to her to hear from the man she admired so much for his green thumb.

"I miss them. All the flowers here are withering for the cold season here too," she replied, a heavy disappointment in her voice.

"What about getting some plotted plants?" He suggested.

"The light isn't very good in the room." She tried, but she didn't want to admit that the roses she tried stemming hadn't grown very well.

"What about a community garden? Some sort of indoor garden? Is gardening any popular there?" He pondered.

"Oh! Grandfather, that's a great idea!" She announced, quite surprised that she hadn't thought of the idea herself. Surely there was an indoor garden somewhere in Destiny City, right? The thought of it alone had lifted her spirits, and it was all thanks to her grandfather. She had gotten what she needed out of the Skype call but she didn't end it, and for several hours the two of the sat there on webcam, talking about this and that, anything that came to mind, and by the time the call ended it was approximately 1 AM in Greece and 8 PM in Destiny City.

Not the Plan but Not a Bad Plan B

Taking her grandfather's advice, Theodora was hitting the town in search for any sort of place she could garden. It wouldn't matter if the cold was coming in because if it was indoor then everything would be protected inside. She had great hopes, vast expectations for a brilliant place that she could find a plot of her own to tend to and admire. She didn't expect there would be much social gain in doing this, but the emotional and mental gain would be more than enough. It didn't matter, after all, she didn't garden socially. It was a peaceful activity she did and only with her grandfather had she really ever done it as a group activity. Her mother hadn't been patience enough and her sisters were menaces.

The search parameters were wide though, and Theodora hadn't thought of perhaps say: Googling it. She could have saved some time had she thought of that, maybe, and instead she walked along the sidewalk looking back and forth and even up and down. In the sky? On the roof? She was not picky about such things, she just wanted it to exist.

She wouldn't find it today though, but she would find herself a new treasure. She hadn't thought much of it since she left Greece but when she seen it she could barely believe it. How long had it been there? Why hadn't she seen it before? Many questions popped into her head as she found the sign and the focal lettering that spelled it: archery.

It pained her to think that all her archery equipment was still back home in Greece and she hadn't thought of having her mother send it without having a place to practice the sport. Here it was though, an archery range. It looked like it had some decent rental prices but she wouldn't be sure until she went in. It was difficult, not getting in but figuring out the rules and regulations of this particular place. She was bad with English in general but reading English in particular confused her. It was bad enough that she finally settled into the suspicion that the rules and regulations would very likely be the same and it wasn't like she was going to shoot someone.

"Um," she said, trying to get the attention of a desk clerk.

"Um, hi." She announced when she noticed the clerk had given her attention to her.

"Hello," the clerk replied, smiling at Theodora without having any idea of the sort of situations he was about to get herself into.

It was a mess. Theodora always had her suspicions but this woman had never experienced this situation before. Theodora wasn't understanding her very well and the simple sentences and bad grammar confused the poor clerk. She wasn't sure what was going on, and Theodora was beginning to get upset. She tried her best to behave because for all she knew this was the only archery range in Destiny City and if she misbehaved here then she could never practice the sport she loved. It took awhile, and a lot of patience on both sides but finally something was arranged.

"Thanks," Theodora said, smiling quite genuinely at the clerk, taking the rental bow and quiver in her hands.

Oh, she was in for a good time. It took quite a bite out of her wallet but it was so worth it. Indoor garden? Later maybe.

Addiction Clinics on Rainbow Roads

The first search for the indoor garden hadn't been a success in the traditional way but it had been valuable to Theodora. She may not have found her Garden of Eden but she had found a wonderful substitution in the form of an archery range. It was challenging but she had managed to get them to rent to her and allow her to use their range even though she had trouble communicating with them.

She was a bit disappointed about her shot, not having practiced in so long, it wasn't as good as her last record. It felt nice though, almost normal. She could truly forget about the strange magic that surrounded Destiny City and remember what life was like before leaving Greece. It was nice, comforting in the face of reality. She didn't think it could really get any better but that was before she decided to drop into a retail outlet.

It was there that Theodora found it: the love of her life! A large, incredibly soft unicorn stuffed animal was staring her in the face. Without even meaning to, the teenager let out a squeal that was completely foreign to what most people expected to come out of her. It would have baffled them, and upon realizing Theodora immediately looked around to see if there was anyone she recognized or anyone who could recognize her. So far, so safe—Theodora hugged the stuffed animal, squishing her face against the soft fur coat.

"It's so soft and big!" She found herself announcing so proudly in Greek. "Look at its glorious sparkling mane and its cloven feet!"

It couldn't possibly get any better. How could it possibly get any better? What a foolish thought! Of course, immediately after thinking it Theodora seen it: 50% Off Clearance. She didn't need to understand the word to understand that 50% was probably a mark down and upon seeing a new price tag over an old one verified it. Sure, she would have brought it regardless of the clearance price but now she could buy two: a white and a baby blue one. No need to be racist here, she loved both and now she didn't have to decide between them.

She may have definitely pushed a small child out of the way to get them off the shelf but she refused to be outdone by a snot-nosed brat who didn't appreciate them nearly as much as she did. She knew that getting them to the check out that would be challenging but that wouldn't be half the battle as getting them home without anyone seeing them would be much worse. It seemed unbelievable but Theodora was up for the challenge if these two glorious beasts were the prize for succeeding. Worse come to worse, she could just knock anyone she recognized out and run away. What would they say? They thought they were attacked by a stampede of galloping unicorns? Ha!

It sounded like a foolproof plan to Theodora, happily falling into defeat and lugging the two toys with her to the check out. She did so carefully, not wanting to damage even a speck of the stuffed toys. It would have been horrifying to even think of mud or dirt getting on the two fair skinned unicorn fur coats. Buying them was probably the easiest thing she'd have to do all day but it did leave her broke flat broke after spending money prior to at the archery range. She didn't regret it though, not even when she finally got them home and realized they took up over 50 percent of the space on her bed. Who needed space when you had unicorns? Besides, there was no room left in the closet.

The search for the elusive indoor garden continued to evade Theodora's hopes. She had searched after school for several days but still she hadn't found anything. It left the young woman frustrated as she flopped onto her bed and stared at the ceiling with a hope to burn a hole into it. Searching for an indoor garden that may or may not exist was like searching for a needle in a haystack! She wanted to talk to her grandfather again, tell him about how she'd been successful in finding an indoor garden. How could do talk to him without being triumphant? Longingly with a hint of sorrow, Theodora's eyes fell on the laptop on her desk. It allowed her to talk to her grandfather from Destiny City, why couldn't it simply be so useful in other situations?

It was a dumb though, and the palm of Theodora's hand quickly smacked her face. She could use Google and find one online! Her eyes fell on the two unicorn stuffed animals that were now taking up most of the space on her bed, thinking about all the money she could have saved before erasing that thought because she was very, very happy with the purchase. She could have at least saved some time though and her time was very important.

Legs hanging over the bed, Theodora's feet promptly pressed against the floor before she practically leaped to the desk chair. She thought it would be easier, but after getting to the Google search engine she found herself staring at the textbox. How the ******** did she spell what she wanted to search? Okay, maybe that wasn't the exact problem. The problem was that while she knew how to spell it in Greek, she had no idea how to spell it in English. She could barely speak it, how did Google expect her to spell it?

Perhaps in Greek? She tried it but instead it tried linking her to places that were in Greek, and some Greek salad bar. It was terrible, and Theodora soon found herself sighing and then smashing her head into the keyboard.

nhjnuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Okay, so she left her head there for a couple minutes. The result actually kind of explained how she was feeling: a never-ending nooooo!

Wasn't Google suppose to make her life easier? Well, it wasn't. If she could write in English she would write a strongly worded letter to Google about how much she hated their search engine's ability to find what she wanted. How many of those did they get? They wouldn't get any like the one they got from Theodora, that's for sure.

Crappy programming or not, Theodora wasn't willing to just give up. She did the unthinkable: she got out the Greek-English dictionary and began to find two words: indoor and garden. She typed them in, but in the search that wasn't enough to find her anything locally. It brought her results about simply indoor gardening, not anything she needed help with or wanted a result ********," she teenager cursed, shaking the laptop angrily as if that would make it do what she wanted.

It would have helped her search if she was using the right word. An indoor garden was called a greenhouse, and it would probably help if she also used the word public. These were all thoughts that went beyond Theodora's control though, not even thinking anymore at this point. Shake shake shake, shake your laptop. Shake shake shake, shake your laptop. Add in a couple really frustrated attempts to make it work, and then voila! It worked, but only if her goal was to blue screen it. ******** class="postcontent-align-center" style="text-align: center">User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Similarities

Theodora couldn't remain in her dorm room anymore, not when there was a blue screen of death staring her down. She wasn't very good with computers in general and so instead of trying to fix it she simply left it there and then left the room. It would either fix itself or just stay broken until she had money to get it fixed. It didn't need money, just a good hard reset but that was beyond her.

She considered going to the arcade but she was not only broke from buying those unicorn stuffed toys but deep down she consciously realized that she was just angry with how useless technology was. She needed to get away from it, do something free. She knew just what she wanted to do in an urban city, rolling her balls around her neck like a tiny version of her senshi scarf. She was going to run this town, she hadn't really practiced in awhile.

Parkour was a practice that Theodora had begun learning about a year and a half ago and she had gotten better at it but not a lot due to her not rationing her time off very well. She spent a good portion of it beating people up, or practicing as Nickeline. She hadn't done it in awhile without a fuku on and that was sort of exciting. She was sure she could still do basics, but how would her body react to the activity now? There was only one way to find out.

She would start with something small, perhaps a concrete box that stops cars from driving into certain areas. There were a few in a row, and taking a run at it Theodora managed to leap right over the first one and get her feet on top of it. This wasn't a vault, or a sporting event where she had to go from the ground and hurdle over each one. No, instead she was going to see if she could jump over top of each one and run across. It went well, and when Theodora jumped down there was a jump in her step. She was already forgetting about that stupid blue screen.

She had done that with no problem so Theodora decided to climb a wall. She had only done this a few times as Theodora and maybe just as many as Nickeline. It had come in handy to get away from the cops and Eunomia not very long ago so she didn't suspect it would be too difficult. It wasn't, other than the ball scarf she made coming undone in the middle of it and obscuring her view. She didn't fall but she struggled to pull herself over the top of the surface. She hung there like a cat on a clothes line, determined not to give up, until she finally succeeded. <******** yeah," she gleamed, sitting down on top of the stone wall.

It was actually a pretty good view here, but it could be better. The sun was beginning to set and Theodora decided to try and get higher. She pulled her hair back around and then ran across the stonewall until she was able to find herself a place to grab onto and pull herself higher. This was simply climbing, wanting to get higher but not feeling confident enough to try and get up there with another routine. It was safer, although maybe a bit slower.

The prize wasn't too bad though, and once she got to the top of the roof the teenager sat down and admired the view. Although this wasn't Greece, the sun still set in the east.
