I hate to be the bearer of bad news but unfortunately, Matahari, it has been brought to my attention through staff that . . . well. . . you've been black listed from the shop. On the Front Page BlacklistThese individuals, through their poor actions, can no longer acquire another SoA (through gifting, customs, ANYTHING). They may also not utilize mules to do so, either. Rabid-White-Mongoose Fenrir Feros/Captain Wolfe/Matahari Harimau So unfortunately I am going to have to nix your entry with Kisa and your eligibility for the advertising contest. I'm sorry to have to do this. Kisa, you are still eligible to try for the contests or get a new partner for the mate-game, but unfortunately Matahari cannot. Don't shoot the messenger, please, it's just what I have been told.

(Might be best to read her personality first, then rank/diseased status - will make more sense. <3) Everything's Slipping... Username: Kaisanti SoA Name & Meaning (if applicable): Mwanamke Ambaye'kuona (Literally 'she who watches') Desired Future Rank and Why: Cross between a healer, nurse and priestess, she is something of an enigma among the ranks. For she sees off the lion or lioness's soul, carries out their last wish and brings them peace of mind, yet she does not seek to aid in prolonging their suffering in this life, nor has anyone seen her communing with the goddess (or any goddess/god) nor does she partake in anything ritualistic. Once grown I think it would be interesting, given her personality, for a Prince to seek her as an escort, but that would be down to in-pride plotting. Is she diseased (and if so at what stage do you intend for him to show symptoms?), a carrier or immune? I usually like to create 'typical' characters and I plan for most of my pride members to be diseased when I get them, but for her I think it would be good plot-wise to have her as a carrier, having fought off the sickness at birth she is now free of it herself but a danger to any other lion/ess she may meet. Which would be part of the reason for her chosen lifestyle (below). Being 'relatively' healthy while she watches so many die would be great for drama and angsty plottage. (If too many lions/esses are already either carriers or immune, Im more than happy to re-work her as diseased!!! It really isn't that important to me as much as her personality is.) Personality: Her mother caught the pride's disease just after she conceived 'Kuona and her siblings, she went downhill fast, suffering one of the most rapid advancements of the disease the pride had ever seen, much to everyones horror. By the time it come to give birth, Nzuri was little more than skin and bone, her body living solely for the cubs within her. The litter was finally delivered after three agonizing days of labor and all but one were still-born. The last cub was alive, but barely, and before she even had time to recover or to see her tiny, malnourished daughter, the mother passed away, drained beyond recovery by the nearly failed birth. The tiny cub was taken on by another couple whose own litter had all died only days prior, victims of the disease. It was touch and go for months, but gradually, the young female began to recover, able to accept more than a few mouthfuls of milk from her adoptive mother, and once she began to eat, everyone heaved a much needed sigh of relief. Her survival was considered a miracle and the whole pride celebrated. As days turned into weeks, and weeks into months 'Kuona grew stronger, though it soon became obvious that while she had survived, she was not completely unharmed by her difficult arrival into the world. She had no voice, never crying for food or attention, nor later on, learning to speak to her pridemates.. whether it was a physical disability or a psychological reaction to the stress of such a traumatic beginning to life, the young cub grew into a quiet, distant adolescent. She kept to herself most of the time, rarely attending any of the social gathering but was often found sat on the outskirts of the pride's denning area, simply watching life go by in the distance. As she grew and matured into a beautiful, yet still silent adult, she suddenly appeared one day among the sickest of the lions, sitting with an old lioness as she rattled her last breath and passed away. From that day forwards Mwanamke Ambaye'kuona became the dieing's last companion. When the healers were too stretched, trying to care for the sick, she would sit beside those that were not long for the next world, a silent sentinel to each lion's ending, never flinching despite how disturbing some of the victim's last moments were, never leaving their side as they passed away both in peace and in violence. She became the silent friend to those who knew their end had come, the last scrap of comfort this world would offer them before they slipped away to join their goddess. Ever silent, ever distant, yet it was as if she accepted their lives, took on what had been left undone by the dieing. If a mother with young cubs passed, the silent female would seek those cubs out and find them a new family to care for them, if it was someones mate who had to be told his love had gone, it would be she who took the message. No matter what the dieing's last wish was, the silent, dark-coated lioness would complete it for them, both giving closure to those left behind, and peace to the one passing on, as they knew there was one person who would make sure their soul did not linger in regret. What is her relationship like with others in the pride (both adults and cubs her age?): She keeps herself distant, the healthier a lion or lioness, the less likely they are to see her. Only those about to pass on will garner her company, and only as they take their last breath, will she voluntarily touch them, often laying a paw on their shoulder and once gone, it is she who closes their eyes and rights their cooling body to allow them to retain what modesty and pride death has left them with. Age does not seem to be considered by the lioness, she treats cubs and adults the same. Though if it a truly young cub thats dieing, she will often let them curl up against her, offering the comfort of her warm fur against the fear that grips them. Where did she come from? Born to a lioness of the pride, she has lived within the Kitwana'antara all her life, never knowing any other way to live and seemingly, not wishing to. Any other notes of interest about the cub? Of course due to her rather strange habits and lack of normal social contact, she has never forged a strong relationship with someone, since all those she spends her time with do not last long. I would love her to eventually make a few friends and find a mate, though it would take lots of rp and plot to bring her round. Link to one or two completed or current RPs - Just to get a sense of your writing style! soa leopard rp & Soq rp Why should we pick you? Just curious. . . Because you lurve meeee!!! Nah lol.. Ive always wanted to get a lion/ess in this pride since Uta posted the first IT thread. Me and Neon have been so excited about it. I am SO getting in this pride if it takes forever. <3

I WAS TOTALLY REFERRED BY SOMEONE!Username: Amirynth Who Referred You? Kaisanti Kisa: I'd love to try for the male if you wanted to try out together ^-^~
then for the black/white cub it's all done! Everyone's A HeroUsername: Amirynth SoA Name & Meaning (if applicable): Desired Future Rank and Why: Hunter or guard... or maybe babysitter Is she diseased (and if so at what stage do you intend for him to show symptoms?), a carrier or immune? She is diseased but has been lucky so far in that it either progressed slowly or hasn't been that far in. (the only showing so far is the markings/sores on her nose and that she get's weak if she pushes herself too much) Personality: Adventurous and full of life right now, *insert name* is devastated when she starts to realize she isn't the lucky one of the litter she was born from. She will become rather secretive about that part of herself and find ways to push herself more to try and prove she isn't one of the diseased. If confronted she might try and snap at people who tell her to 'take it easy' and while she doesn't dislike the others, there will be moments when she feel like she wants to lash out at the sicker ones of the pride. On her good days however, she is a sweetheart on the inside and is loyal to a fault. I hope that she ends up attaching to someone (be it a 'blood sister' or a best friend or maybe a hunting partner) who she will end up revealing she is sicker than she lets on but that is something for the future. What is her relationship like with others in the pride (both adults and cubs her age?): As a cub she is a bundle of joy. Full of energy and prone to getting into things. As many of the pride hope that as she was the one survivor from her litter, she is actually immune from the disease, they may be a little more protective of her. She might think she is 'destined for great things' and when she finds out this cannot be so it'll be interesting to see how things turn about. While amongst others she is very friendly, almost a social butterfly, she is also secretive. She will even go so far as to try and hide the fact that she is sick from others as she will feel that it will make her less in peoples eyes. Where did she come from? Born in the pride, she was one of four and was a great joy to the pride as they seemed to be perfectly healthy cubs. Her mother, however, never seemed to get better after all the stress of birthing and soon passed away. Her three siblings each slowly became more and more listless until they joined their mother in the spirit realm. Even so, she was still loved and cared for, many hoping that she was the survivor of the group and would be immune to the disease. At present she seems quite healthy and full of energy though as she grows into her teen years and started to train as a huntress of the pride small little tale tell signs point the other way. After a long hunt she found herself out of breath more often and it is starting to get harder and harder to rise in the morning. Heavy stress seems to tie her down but she is trying to hide it as much as possible, not wanting anyone to know that she is sicker than they think. Any other notes of interest about the cub? The red markings are actually part of the disease manifesting. Link to one or two completed or current RPs - Just to get a sense of your writing style! Soquili teepee, Rynn and Zev's story Why should we pick you? Just curious. . . I applied for this pride a while back with a re-worked Rynn (whom one day I'll get! *shakes fist*) I love the idea and would be honored to take a part in the building of it's members.

What a Man's Gotta DoUsername: ~Spazzy_the_Wolfie~ SoA Name & Meaning (if applicable): Kijitu [['Little Man' in Swahili.]] Desired Future Rank and Why: A Bard, one that focuses on singing, but occasionally goes into a bit of dancing when the right beat hits. :3
He will strongly refuse to show weakness if he can when around others, knowing that outright showing his sickness will most likely make everyone feel worse. Eventually Kij' will turn to dancing as a cub, ditch that idea, then focus on singing as a way to distract himself from the plague he and most others in the pride have, and attempt to bring a little joy into the dimmed life of his fellow pride mates.
Is he diseased (and if so at what stage do you intend for him to show symptoms?), a carrier or immune? He is diseased! He'll start to show signs early on as a cub with fevers, varying in severity. It'll eventually turn into him having frequent nosebleeds, usually short, and the occasional case of severe vertigo occurring as he grows. As an adult, when vertigo hits him, it will probably render him useless for a day or two, causing him to simply hunker down and shut his eyes to wait it out.
Personality: Kijitu is a polite, carefree, and sometimes far too stubborn male. Being saved from certain death by the pride's acceptance of him, he feels the need to try and be as little a burden as possible to his new family by keeping a positive attitude and not showing weakness when he can. He's the type who would go and try to hide an obvious nosebleed by slapping a paw over his face and trying to shrug and laugh it off by blaming it on his dancing. If vertigo hits him, he'll simply say something along the lines of "Oh, it's just all the dancing I've done today, hah!~" If one continues to try and take care of him in any way, Kijitu won't acknowledge that something's wrong with him and start singing to block them out.
He adores being able to put a smile on the sick's face, and aims to please if he can in a situation where someone's feeling horrid via singing a tune. As an adult, Kij' will try and ignore the more severe cases of the plague that some of the pride's members have, and treat them as any regular old lion.
What is his relationship like with others in the pride (both adults and cubs his age?): Knowing fully well that without the care of the pride he would probably be dead by now, Kijitu has the utmost respect for his elders, trying to be as polite as he can in most situations and not talking back until needed. Around those his age, however, he doesn't really know whether or not to have the same attitude, since he can't remember how life was prior to being accepted into the pride with his forgotten siblings.
He's beginning to realize that there's really no reason to feel so awkward around others like himself, so Kij' is slowly embracing his new life around so many others and starting to show his carefree and musical self more. He will not stand for any disrespect towards adults by those his age, though, and will burst out if he can and start scolding someone out for it.
Where did he come from? Kij' was abandoned at the borders of the pride soon after being weaned, his father noting the young cub's persistent on and off fevers as a sign of weakness. This was not the kind of son he wanted to carry the family name. Kij', being far too weak and feeble for his father's liking, was left with little care at the borders of the pride to possibly be taken in by what daddy thought was a plain old pride of lions, mother having no say in the situation. Any other notes of interest about the cub? Kijitu will initially want to specialize in dancing, but because of how severe his cases of vertigo are, will turn his focus towards singing instead as a juvenile.
Link to one or two completed or current RPs - Just to get a sense of your writing style! Soq RP & SoA RP Why should we pick you? Just curious. . . I love how the pride stands out from most others by keeping to themselves and being specific about not spreading their sickness to outsiders. The Plague = DEFINITELY some drama/plots? This was too good to pass up. >w> <3

What a Man's Gotta Do Username: Redbud-Tree SoA Name & Meaning (if applicable): Alama na’Kifu (Marked for death)
Desired Future Rank and Why: Priest of the goddess of Souls. Having lost his mother and siblings at the time of hiss birth, Alama is often drawn to think about what their lives would have been like had they lived, and where they might be now. Hoping to get to see them again someday (though he knows it will only be once he has succumbed to the disease himself), he will learn to follow the ways of the goddess of souls, to hopefully ease others’ passing and honor the loss of the mother and littermates he never knew.
Is he diseased (and if so at what stage do you intend for him to show symptoms?), a carrier or immune? Alama is diseased and will begin to show the first symptoms while still a young cub. He’ll stay in the first stages, with occasional bouts of more extreme weakness and coughing, up to adolescence, where he will start to teeter between the first and second stages. He will last some way into adulthood before his health finally fails him completely, hopefully having sired a little of cubs in the meantime.
Personality: A thoughtful and often introspective cub, Alama is prone to periods of self-pity and general snappishness, particularly at those lions and lion cubs that are (or at least appear to be) healthier than he is. To those as sick as or sicker than him, however, he has only the greatest respect for, and even sometimes envies those that are close to death – after all, with any luck they won’t be suffering for too much longer.
In some ways he even envies his lost siblings, and is particularly curious about the sister he had. She had seemed the strongest of his littermates, as he’s been told, so why did she die and he survive? That’s a main focus of his cubhood and time as a juvenile – he tries his hardest to figure out why some are marked for a swift death while others must suffer, and still others are completely unaffected.
Growing older, however, he comes to accept the disease and suffering that surround him, and as his own condition worsens he becomes less self-pitying and more focused on helping others who suffer to achieve a peaceful rest – hoping that in helping others to do so, he might earn such a rest for himself. What is his relationship like with others in the pride (both adults and cubs his age?): As a cub, Alama is considerably jealous of others that seem to be healthier than him, and if he’s caught on a day where he’s feeling particularly unwell he is quite likely to strike out, both verbally and with claws. As he grows older this jealousy will die down due to his growing understanding that the healthy lions didn’t choose to wind up that way any more than he chose to get sick.
His attitude towards other diseased lions, particularly those worse off than he, is especially considerate, and he will do what he can to make the worst-afflicted just a bit more comfortable, in whatever way he can. Being too weak to roughhouse or play very much, Alama is distant from other cubs, and it will take an especially patient and persistent cob or two to get past his defensive walls and become his friend.
Where did he come from? Alama was born into the pride, but his mother was too weak to survive the birth, orphaning him immediately. His three other siblings (two other males and one female) died shortly after birth, the female holding onto her tiny life for almost a week before finally dying and leaving Alama the only survivor of the family.
Any other notes of interest about the cub? Ironically, Alama was the runt of his litter and was thought to be stillborn for the first few minutes of his life; for a while his chances of survival were deemed minimal and he was given his name.

Why should we pick you? Just curious. . . Because I adore the Kitwana’Antara, the entire concept of the plague, and because I need to have a lion in there who’s not as hyper and naïve as Kubwa’na’Kiburi is.

Thanks for the entries guys!
But guess what?
Nerpin, bless her heart, made us three more lions! (Two lionesses, including one with some small edits, and a male!)
I'm going to have to figure out what to do with these guys. Some of them may have a more specific role involved in future plot.
Let me mull and think about stuff for a little bit. I'll get to updating entries and whatnot soon.

I'll Stand By You Username: Redbud-Tree Which SoA Are You Gunning For? Green Male SoA Name & Meaning (if applicable): Kijani Machozi (Swahili for ‘green tears’, a reference to the dark streaks of green extending from his eyes)
Desired Rank and Why: A Scout or a Spy, for he is intelligent, capable of listening well, and easily passes for your random rogue rather than a Kitwana-born lion.
Is he diseased, a carrier or immune? Kijani is one of the rare few that are immune to the disease. As such, he feels it’s his duty to try and help the pride hold together - and also tends to keep a little apart from the rest of the pride, simply because being immune makes him either a target of envy or pity from the other pride members, depending on how you look at it. His immunity allows him to travel outside the pride lands on missions for the King or Queen, and so he feels that his duties are best served away from those he cannot emotionally connect to.
Was he born in to the pride or did he join later? Kijani was born into the pride, as the odd-one-out of a litter of three cubs. The other two, both females, were of the usual browns, whites, and blacks of those born within the pride. Kijani, however, was born as green as the grass during the rainy season, a genetic throwback to a rogue ancestor three generations prior to his. Both of his sisters were diseased; one didn’t live past cubhood and the other was just a few months shy of reaching adulthood before she too succumbed. Kijani’s mother was too weak to raise the cubs, passing away by the time he hit juvenile, so he spent most of his time with a Nanny, a cheetah who eventually died of old age.
Personality: Kijani is intelligent, calm, observant and emotionally distant from others. He’s polite to everyone but a friend to none, both because of his potentially dangerous rank and because of the fact that he is immune, and would rather not get attached to those who he will eventually have to see die. A quiet lion who prefers to listen over talking, he nevertheless will speak his mind when he feels that his opinion is truly pertinent to the conversation at hand.
If he has an idea to help the pride in some way, he will wait for the appropriate opening and mention it, rather than keep it to himself out of embarrassment. As a healthy, strong lion he is likely expected to take a mate, or at least sire several litters of cubs in his lifetime, but he harbors a fear of doing so because he doesn’t want to see a mate or cubs die; thus he is more likely to accept flings as a matter of duty, and not look back.
What is his relationship with other members of the pride?: Kijani is unfailingly loyal to the royalty of the pride, but keeps himself emotionally distant from everyone, particularly those that are clearly diseased. He doesn’t want to get involved because he doesn’t want to get hurt any more, and he knows that in this pride, relationships will always, always lead to heartbreak. This isn’t to say that wooing him would be impossible, just that it would take a great amount of persistence and reassurance.
Kijani is a bit closer to the non-lion pride members, purely because they, too, are immune from the disease, but not so close that he spends any great deal of time with them. He is particularly wary of Cheetahs, because the Nanny that raised him was a Cheetah and being around them tends to wake the pain that he still carries for her loss.
What is his history up until now? Raised in the pride as an immune cub, Kijani has outlived both of his sisters, his mother and his caretaker. If he’s met his father at any point in time, he doesn’t know it, and mostly he writes him off as being either dead or dying, and doesn’t bother searching for him. Growing up he was quiet and watched others, but kept his distance because he knew his immunity to the disease was a sore spot to some.
Due to his distance from others, along with his intelligence, observational skills, and green fur, he sought out the training it took to become a Scout or a Spy so that he could spend most of his time away from the main pride and avoid having to get attached to those he was bound to lose. Everyone's A Hero Username: Redbud-Tree SoA Name & Meaning (if applicable): Tumaini (Swahili name for hope) Desired Future Rank and Why: Bard, because she loves to make up and tell stories, both to entertain herself and to keep others happy. She’ll particularly enjoy telling tales to cubs, since she will know what it’s like to want to run and play but be unable to.
Of course, there’s also always the hope of heiress or some other high-ranked position, but let’s be realistic here, shall we?
Is she diseased (and if so at what stage do you intend for him to show symptoms?), a carrier or immune? Tumaini will be diseased. Hit hard in early cubhood, she will progress through the first stage and into the second very rapidly, but will linger in the second stage for years before she starts having worse days. Her life will be a fairly short one, but nevertheless full and happy.
Personality: Being stricken with the disease at a very young age will leave Tumaini weak and physically incapable of playing with other cubs. To combat the isolation of such a lonely cubhood, this cub will take up her time by inventing and telling herself stories, making up songs, and finding other ways to entertain herself. Being lonely and in need of a few friends, she’ll eventually tell one of her stories to another cub and realize that she has something of a gift.
Despite her illness and overall weakness, Tumaini is a social little cub, and longs to spend her days surrounded with friends of all ages. She is open and friendly, and while she is too weak to physically play overmuch, she’s good at entertaining the other cubs and just being a friend to talk to and spend time with.
What is her relationship like with others in the pride (both adults and cubs her age?): Tumaini is open and friendly to everyone, be they healthy or sick. In fact, she’s just a little overbearing, because she is something of an attention seeker and wants nothing more than the complete and total interest of whoever she is talking to right at this moment. Be they queen or commoner, healthy or ill, Tumaini will talk to them and spend time with them, even if she’s a little too needy and glingy towards those she becomes attached to.
Where did she come from? Tumaini was born of a rogue’s one-night-stand just outside the borderlands of the pride. Neither her unfortunate mother nor the lion that was her father knew that he was a carrier of the disease. Her mother lived just long enough to birth her litter – two pathetically weak cubs – and to drag them to the borders of the pride’s lands before succumbing to the disease. Both of the cubs were undernourished and weak, and were not expected to survive – the male proved this expectation true, and died on his third day of life.
That night, the Nanny who was taking care of the remaining cub began calling her (mentally, at least) Tumaini – “hope”, perhaps believing that even a potential name would give the cub more of a chance at hanging on to life. Whether or not that had anything to do with it, Tumaini survived and continues to survive to this day.
Any other notes of interest about the cub? The red patches on the cub’s fur are just that – her fur; although she is keenly aware at how much they resemble the blood spatters from the diseased, and it’s something of a sore spot for her.

Why should we pick you? Just curious. . . Because I won't quit hounding you with entries until I win one? 8B Just kidding, just kidding. xd Nah, really, I'd just liked to be picked because there's so much potential within this pride, and I love it so much. It's arguably my favorite pride in the entire shop, though I do have to admit that I am. a.) an angst-obsessed writer, and b.) still new enough to the shop that I haven't investigated a huge amount of the prides available yet.
