[SOLO] #07 Amped Up 624 words
It should have triggered an onslaught of memories when his entire body throbbed the way it did whenever he drew breath; he’d been beaten like this before, left broken and bleeding while he slunk off to nurse his wounds in the shadows. What a rush it was then, what a rush, to know he’d kicked the s**t out of the girl right back, and the blood stained chain still clenched tightly in one fist was testimony to that. It was a prize of sorts, a trophy, and he savored the cold steel with a fondness he’d been lacking as of late. In the other hand he held the second, technically more important of his spoils; the star seed of the man that the senshi had failed to wrest from him. And to think, even when she had! It’d been far too late to save him, and she could do nothing but surrender the prize back into his waiting claws.
The lieutenant didn’t think he could make it to the roofs like this, already woozy from the blood still oozing from the various cuts and scrapes covering his body, and so he limped through the streets. It sounded as though the pain was choking him, forcing him to double over at times so he could wheeze and struggle for breath... but, sometimes, it was laughter that threatened to help him pass out for good. It was a high he couldn’t wind down from quickly, and had he not been so hurt, he felt like he’d have been raring for more, wanting to clash again and again and again with that b***h. Every ******** fight he he’d had so far, none had been even half as satisfying as that little scuffle. But even Obsidian knew when enough was enough, and if he’d gone after her, there was a very good chance that she’d have found some of her allies.
He was no use to the Negaverse dead, after all.
His feet were moving almost without his consent, shuffling him towards a place that he instinctively knew would be a safe haven until he could at least make the full trip back to his apartment. Ursula’s place. The bitterness, the envy that had him grinding his teeth whenever he thought about the young woman had dissipated thanks to the events of tonight, and he was eager to share his own stories with her. It took longer than he remembered to get there, spoiled by the advantages of being a lieutenant, but he got there.
Breath hitched sporadically in his chest now, and he felt like it was on fire. How much longer could he keep walking? Struggling up the stairs, to the first floor of apartment rooms, Obsidian was only thankful that it was really too early for anyone to be wondering what the hell a blood splattered man in military uniform was doing stalking about at this hour. Finally, her door, and he curled his hand into a fist to thump it once, twice.
No answer.
She might have been ignoring it, or, more likely, asleep.
He knocked and knocked and knocked until his legs decided enough, and he slowly was forced to collapse. With a grunt, the man pressed his back into the wall, next to the door, staring with an exhausted grin at nothing at all. He couldn’t move even if he wanted to, had no choice but to wait. That was fine. Eyes dropped to almost fondly scan over both his treasures, fingers tightening in feeble, but notable possession around them. That was what a fight should be like. It’d taken a hell of a long time for him to get what he wanted... but it was all worth it, in the end.

[SOLO] #08 Mission Reflection 533 words
Find her, stalk her, track her down. Memorize her habits, become her shadow, and one day, maybe one day, finally rip out her throat with his teeth. To say he was excited by his new orders would be an understatement. The feeling had never been so strong before, now that he could identify what it was, and Obsidian was eager to start... well, as quickly as he could.
It had started with Sailor Nemesis, that first sensation, that desire to take her down, to engage in that ruthless, berserker-type battle that pit them against one another with nothing but sheer aggression and the desire to live. Not quite, though, she’d been a coward. She wasn’t able to stand up to him fully, not like Nerissa had, and whatever thoughts of getting even when the skull-clad senshi had been abandoned.
He had a new target now.
The man sat alone in his apartment long after the meeting, calloused thumb mindlessly stroking at the chain he sometimes clenched in his grip, remembering how he’d torn it from her face and the blood that had stained pale skin. God, it’d never get old, and he grinned to himself even as he slowly let himself tip back, stretching out on his bed. She was a tough cookie, that one. Never once cried, nor screamed because she’d been afraid. An admirable trait, respectable one. It made him want to put his hands around her throat even more, choke her until when she did try, there’d only be a painful, rasping little squeak. Teeth sank into his lip as though to savor the thought, a growl starting in his throat even as he shook himself and rolled onto his front.
Soon. He was tired now; he’d stalked the streets, but there’d been no sign of her. She could be cooped up, recovering, or simply in areas he hadn’t thought to wander yet. It was a big city, after all, and he had time. The man let his mind go back to the meeting almost as though to keep himself distracted, thinking. Hematite... He’d had a stick up his a** about something, something Obsidian couldn’t peg. Definitely didn’t get any new orders either, if he recalled. Something noteworthy? Probably. Linarite... Showing potential, like he’d assumed, but she was still so young. And what about Nealite? Mm, working herself to the bone with that Sailor Nea bullshit, but he’d have to be blind to say Charonite hadn’t noticed or approved. Oh, yeah, that Tobernite kid, too.
Obsidian felt his lips curl into a grin at that, gingerly moving himself upward so he could bury his face in his pillow. Kid had gotten himself reamed good... He almost hoped he failed to meet his miserably small star seed quota, just to see what Charonite would do to him. If he’d been paying any attention that night though, well... He’d probably weasel his way into living a bit longer. It would be several hours before, after flipping off the lights, that the man would be able to fall asleep.
And even in his dreams, he imagined being able to feel her pulse crying out against his palms, her name on his lips.
Nerissa.
