Sidra had been left as the metaphorical saloon door of Charys Murphy's assholishness swung behind her, tipping her cowboy hat to the no-legged horse of her getaway car, mangling the metaphor long past it should have been mangled. Something inside Charys had flaked over and died a little, and she didn't know what; didn't know whether it had always been flaked over and dead. It was possible she'd been born that way.

Charys had always liked herself. It had helped. She had always known exactly who Charys Murphy was, and liked what she saw; never doubted herself, never questioned herself. Never ripped on herself. Never got too hard on herself. Never jumped on herself when she was not in the mood.

Never bitterly flayed herself with self-recrimination -- hell no, get off at this stop, Charys wants to stop riding the ride.

She wandered the streets as Sailor Nerissa -- eating way more than the recommended packs of Hubba Bubba, standing on the street corners blowing bubbles, avoiding the cop cars, once memorably mistaken as a hooker and giving the middle fingers to that very mistaken john -- she just wandered the streets, kicking a can, whistling Dixie, careless. Carefree.

Careless.

She'd been building-jumping the one day -- streetcrawling had been a bad idea that night, not with the cops around -- and she liked the adrenaline rush of Mirror's Edge hopping from rooftop to rooftop, senshi energy bunching her muscles and making the jump beautiful and easy and gliding, landing easily without turning a heel. She'd recovered, pretty much, from the serious beating that Obsidian had given her; and that was why when she leapt from the top of the post office to the flat top of a business building she just cocked her head and stared at the man who'd just leapt on it from the opposite direction.

Red hair.

Wooden sword.

Aww s**t.

"Okay, so," she said, starting to walk backwards, spitting out her Hubba Bubba and once again contributing to Global Warming or at the very least Not Keeping Destiny City Beautiful, "I actually have something in the oven -- bad a** seeing you; keep it real, yo, have a nice night -- "

With each passing night, it was slowly dawning on him that this was one big ******** city when one only wanted to find a certain individual. Explanations had slithered through his thoughts, each attempting to poison his resolve with stupid little questions--What if she'd ran away for good and she wasn't ever going to come back? What if he never found her, how would he explain that one to Charonite?

He practically crowed when, in a moment of sheer, dumb luck, his crude little songbird hauled her a** up onto a building that was practically right across from him.

He hadn't even thought, just leapt, and a grin slowly took up the vicinity of his face. One might have thought his birthday had come early. The landing was smooth, no more twinges running through muscles, and though his chest wasn't completely healed up, he could take good smack or two and still recover.

"Baby!" Obsidian spread his arms wide even as he advanced, his movements slow, if confident. "Baby, where the hell have you been? I've been lookin' all over for ya. You won't return my calls, my texts, nothin'! What about our promise ring?"

The chain was suddenly held before her, rattling as he dangled it about. Ohh, he'd been waiting this, still watching her almost cheerfully as he wound the little treasure back around his wrist.

"Let's do this one more time, for old time's sake." And the grin was something a little more deranged now, and the sword was ripped free from the bindings on his back even as he lunged at her with a snarl on his lips.

Nerissa immediately turned tail and jumped, back to the post office building, rounding again and walking backwards just in case he was right there. He was advancing. There was no hope whatsoever that he was going to call a rain check on this.

He had her chain -- he had her chain.

That was nasty.

"Sweetie, I have to tell you," she was saying, edging backwards, looking over her shoulder as she motored herself backwards. She was backtracking so quickly that there was nearly chase music. "I think it's over between us -- I mean, ********, it's not working out. I think we have to see other people."

She misstepped a little. She stumbled back. Righted herself. "I mean you know how it goes," she said. "Two people meet. We were both young when I first saw you. Your daddy said, stay away from Juliet. -- I'll always remember you -- "

He lunged again. Sailor Nerissa tossed herself to one side, somersaulting roughly (and inexpertly) over into the concrete, coming down and lunging off again as he sliced down with his big wooden p***s extension. It cut through the air with a sharp whistle -- she flipped backwards again, looking for something, anything, and then just tossed herself down into the alley.

He was hot on her heels. She grabbed a metal lid off a trash can to block his blow -- and the wooden sword actually broke it, her wrists gave as she was left holding two crumpled pieces of the shitty alumnium trash can lid and blinking. Nerissa ran.

In retrospect, maybe he should have left her finish babbling before he'd gone straight for the throat, but trusting her to stay put was just asking for trouble. His sword nearly cracked against the rooftop when she'd lunged out of the way, and he caught a glimpse of her falling like a stone to the alley below. No time to waste--Obsidian vaulted right down after her.

There was a sick sort of satisfaction in smashing into her defenses, watching her buckle and falter as she was left holding the two halves of her shield. She ran then, and he savored the sensation before quickly taking up the pursuit.

Thrilling, almost, watching her flee, but some part of him was disappointed; where was the ferocity he'd engaged with on that first night? Had he crushed her spirit so easily? Well, nothing like cornering someone to get them to show their true colors, and he had no qualms with playing chase.

His gait lengthened to propel him forward at a dead sprint, a hand stretching out almost mindlessly to snatch at her hair, her shoulder, her skimpy little outfit, trying to trip her up or slow her down so he could better proceed to try and knock her nose in.

And if he got that far? He'd let her up to do it all over again.

His flight proved one thing: that somebody sick designed the senshi uniforms, because he grabbed at her bow and immediately she ricocheted back. It was a comedy pratfall. She completely fell on her a** as the huge buttbow unravelled at the back of her costume, as he pulled on it as though he was undoing a present.

She rolled out of the way as he brought his sword down -- it banged off the street with a bright wooden thwok! At this point they were tussling on the pavement like a hobofight, and it was fight or die: Sailor Nerissa was lazy, but she wasn't into die. You couldn't watch back-episodes of Grey's Anatomy on Youtube if you died. You couldn't --

It was worse, this time around, knowing exactly what he was capable of. More urgent. She tackled him around the waist and they went down in a flurry, the enormous sword useless in that kind of melee, and she window-washed his face: grabbed her hand and scrubbed it hilariously hard over vulnerable nose, eyelids, mouth.

"This is your restraining order, man."

Sick or not, it was still sort of hilarious. Laughter stuttered in his throat, blocked by teeth permanently gritted into some sort of sneering grin, and he could feel his adrenaline starting to go up. Arms flexed, brought the blade down to smash her hard against the back, or better yet, the skull--but she'd moved, and suddenly they were both down, thrashing against each other in a dizzying sort of scuffle that only worsened the urge to howl like a maniac.

He wasn't a complete psycho yet though.

She took the initiative to take him down first, her blunt nails raking across his face in a way that sparked more anger than amusement, and as soon as they dropped down to his mouth again, he tried to see if he could bite her as hard as he could, not wanting to let go of those skinny fingers even as his hand tried to snake up to her throat.

"I need you still baby, you make this so rough." He spat, and his tone clearly suggested he liked it that way. He was gonna bleed this b***h.

Why did he always have to laugh? It was like trying to take down the Joker.

He bit on her fingers really ******** hard, and she snatched them away with a bitten-off yell -- his hand was around her throat, her hand was around his throat, they were now in the position where their legs were wrapped around each other and they were mid-strangle. It was like one of Sidra's baffling ******** posters. Never give up.

"How much do I have to tell you, baby," she rasped, face going red, her own fingers squeezing down on his excited pulsepoint -- "I don't scarf wang."

She was banging her heel down on his calf, scrunching herself against him, and then she was the one who choked first: pulled her hand back, and suckerpunched him straight in the face.
PostPosted: Mon Oct 26, 2009 10:55 pm

"We'll see, sweetheart." He hissed, and he tried to dig his nails into her pale skin, see if he couldn't just tear it straight open but blunt nails refused to cooperate. "You'll find I'm pretty ********' convincing." And then she pulled back, and there was a sense of triumph--

--and then the crack across the face was enough to stun him. His grip loosened around her throat, and, dazed, the man gave his head a sharp shake as though to send the spots of black and white tumbling out of his eyes. Didn't matter. He'd shift to try and get on top of her, hoping to use his weight to pin her down so his hand could inch, slowly but surely, towards her chest.

"So was that all you had, last time?" Obsidian practically growled, fingers twitching. "Your shitty little whirlpool? Better try something better, honey, because you're gonna lose this time if you keep making things this ********' boring..."

Her fist was slammed unerringly into his face again. Thwok. "Holy s**t," said Nerissa, a little thickly from all the blood in her mouth. "You're actually trying to touch my tits." Thwok. "And for." Thwok. "A shitty little whirlpool." Thwok. "It got you pretty -- "

He belted her this time, an incredible backhand. She felt her nose do that sickening crunch thing, the pain of feeling the fact that it was literally and completely broken, blood spurting from it like a little fountain or Old Faithful. "Holy ******** gods," said Nerissa.

Boots crunched.

Boots crunched behind him.

For a moment she had the feeling that it was Thuban, thank God for T-Bird, if God owned a car it was a silver thunderbird and she was going to buy him so many faggy a** sports drinks with electrolytes in that he'd be pissing pink for a month. But it wasn't. The boots were black, and there was a cloak brushing the concrete next to the Lieutenant tussling with her.

Then Charonite said: "Keep going, Lieutenant."

At this point Nerissa did, in fact, freak out.
PostPosted: Mon Oct 26, 2009 11:14 pm

Blow, after blow, after blow, after blow. His head snapped a little with each one, the words barely registering even as the pressure in his jaw built up steadily, and it occurred to him that his teeth might crack. Something snapped in him before she could land another hit, and he curled his fingers into a fist that trembled a little before he smashed her int the face.

Blood splattered against his face, hot and tempting, and he was about to laugh from the sheer rush of things at her inventive cursing before he crunched that pretty little nose again.

He never got that far.

The sound of boots were enough to make him pause for a moment, his jaw arching itself up slightly while a look of sheer puzzlement flicked over his face. It was replaced by something more predatory, something almost possessive, and then he heard the gravely voice that was normally shouting spittle into his face or telling him what a worthless ******** up he was.

Sir yes sir, Obsidian saluted in his mind, and didn't even bother to look at the General-King as he drew his fist back and slammed it hard into her face again, wanting to blacken an eye or cut open a lip, wanted to see her visage slowly mutate under his hands.

She was trying to get away now -- squirming her head from side to side as he punched her, the blows landing on her cheekbones and on the side of her head, stunning her for a moment. Then she opened her mouth, and before she could even round around Tid -- he shut it for her with another blow. Nerissa was kicking and punching to the point of flailing, until the General-King reached out and placed his booted foot down on her wrist.

That crunched too. This time she screamed like she was trying to break a world record, then screamed again. And kept screaming.

"Lieutenant," said Charonite. "Put your fingers around the star seed -- gently. Don't pull at it. Just get your ******** hand around it. Don't you DARE ******** this up."
PostPosted: Mon Oct 26, 2009 11:42 pm

His heart seemed to thud with each, sickening smack his fist made against her skin, his pupils threatening to dilate even as he takes slow, smooth breaths. He shut her ******** mouth for her before she could do that move again, and it made his skin practically crawl as a sharp crack resounded through the otherwise empty street. The screams echoed on and on, and he savored them, wanted to remember them before he faltered when the orders were given.

Finally.

Obsidian didn't hesitate as his hand plunged into her chest, quickly at first, then more delicately, his teeth set on edge as he felt her star seed, wrapped his fingers around it until he could almost imagine it fluttering desperately against his palm. "Got it." His voice was husky, thicker than normal, but steady. The man didn't dare twitch, didn't even blink unless Charonite told him too. He was not going to ******** this up.

Sailor Nerissa went the colour of paper; she was still thrashing, but the movements were getting less. She was jerking up as though in the throes of an epileptic seizure, as though Obsidian had her on the end of an electropad. A senshi starseed felt -- different; it sparkled on the end of his fingers, sent a pleasant buzz all the way through him down to his toes, was tethered inside her. She was breathing through her mouth, loudly, hyperventilating, blood still pouring down her face.

"Don't yank it out," said the General-King, whose foot was still casually on Nerissa's wrist. "Hold it down in there. Make sure you have a good grip. You're not forking this one out. Plan's changed, Lieutenant. Just keep on holding it and do ******** everything I say -- "

What General-King Charonite had been about to say was rudely interrupted.

Sidra Winters, 16 years, was on her way home from candy striping. The day had passed by in a blur and she frankly couldn't even feel bad for the people that she was supposed to care for when she was so torn up inside. The crunch of the gravel under her boots was all she could concentrate on, and it was only after the second scream that she realized, Oh, right. Scout business. She was tempted to turn on her heel, finally slacking off like Charys had always wanted her to, until she recognized that scream of pain and torment. Bags dropped on the ground, inner turmoil forgotten as Sidra had a single moment of clarity: that was Sailor Nerissa screaming and for all that she was hurt from what Charys had said there was just no denying that she couldn't stop feeling for her.

Frantic henshin, tiny boots clacking on the street and then up an iron fire escape and finally on to the roof-- she hadn't even seen anything and she was half terrified, her hair in disarray and her eyes widened as she recognized the man standing over Sailor Nerissa. And then she recoiled as she recognized instinctually what was about to happen, by the hands of some man that she did not recognize but his intents were clear.

"Don't you dare!" Sidra called out hoarsely, her hands clenched in to fists and her nails biting in to her legs. She never thought she could feel worse and yet.. and yet, what could happen she knew would make her feel much, much worse.

There was no attack. She could do nothing-- anything she shot at them would hit Charys and with her emotions so frayed she couldn't guarantee even her own safety at this point.

There was barely enough time to register what Charonite was telling him; the star seed seemed to send jolts of electricity rippling straight down the base of his spine, made him feel good, better than good when he watched her face. Her agony was mesmerizing, and christ, he wanted to tear out the seed so ******** badly, but he wouldn't twitch a muscle.

Why, though? Why weren't they going through with it, they had her, finally! And then the General King himself was cut off, and Obsidian snapped his head up to take in yet another senshi. He vaguely remembered being told about the two 'supers', whatever the ******** that meant, and for once, the man was without a witty, scathing retort. He only licked dried lips and waited, waited to be told what to do, and when to do it.

He'd already figured this out, of course. This was now a hostage situation--but what were they bargaining for?
