[SOLO]- The Ties of Binding
He managed… somehow… to evade suspicion about the rapid rate at which most of his bruises and abrasions from the battle with Moonstone had healed. He was still wearing a cast where she had broken his ankle, though now it itched more than ached, and of course could not be scratched.
It would have, he was sure, been probably one of the most diabolical forms of torture if you just slapped a cast on whoever you wanted information from… and then let them try and itch.
Hell you didn’t even need itching powder. You just needed the cast, which prickled and poked and itched and felt uncomfortable in ways you just didn’t think would be that uncomfortable. And you could. Not. Itch.
He’d even thought about slamming it off of hard surfaces in a desperate attempt to apply some kind of pressure, hoping it would relieve the itching, but he was pretty sure that he was more likely to hurt himself again than to fix the situation.
It was honestly maddening. Though at least it was probably going to get him out of laps, and probably dodge ball, though he was sure he’d end up being demanded to do –something- in gym class. That would, he guessed, at least be a form of activity since it wasn’t as though he could readily go out and do patrol on an healing but broken ankle.
It was at least some measure of relief to get back to his room and sit down, propping the beanbag lion on his pillow with a sigh as he stretched out his legs and propped the crutches on one side. They looked easy enough to use if you were watching someone else do it, but doing it yourself felt like you were transporting yourself by pushups. Maybe he could argue that as his way out of anything he might be asked to do in Gym class.
Maybe he’d even get buffed up a little on these stupid things. Stupid Negaverse. Stupid fight. Stupid HIM for not taking it seriously. That was something else he hadn’t wanted to discuss with Tallulah. That maybe they did need to take things as seriously as Kunzite had implied. Moonstone certainly had. If Birhan hadn’t come along, he probably wouldn’t be sitting here.
Then of course there’d been the nightmares. First one of him killing others, then one of Cee ripping his star seed out… he could almost feel an hollow ache where her hand had so convincingly plunged into his chest. He’d felt that the entire day afterward, and was still nervous about going to sleep again, on the chance that whatever he dreamed next might be even worse.
He almost didn’t notice the note on his bed, a letter in a familiar, delicate hand with foreign post marks. It was from Celeste, which made him frown, and examine it before tearing it open with a lack of respect that the paper maker for this particular stationary probably would have wept over.
Just to check, he gave it a quick shake over the bed, as though maybe he were expecting dried flowers or a star seed to fall out, but nothing happened, so he peeled out and unfolded the note.
Dear Jaimie. It began, which was in and of itself unusual. She always called him Jai. Just Jai.
Dear Jaimie,
It has been a remarkably enlightening week. I’ve been doing a little investigation into your dear darling girl. (You should change your email password sometime by the way…). She seems quite a character. So very unlike us. No wonder you’re so fascinated by her. She’s so… normal; except for the name. Did you know, Jaimie, that there are only three women named Tallulah in Destiny City? Also did you know that two of them are over seventy?
“YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!” He roared, cramming the rest of the letter into a wad and flinging it across the room. “AAAAAAAGH.”
There was absolutely no question that Cee had done some leg work… or that Tallulah had given her a serious bug up her… bonnet. It was also obvious that she’d decided to try and do something about it. Just. Apparently, because life attending Hillworth in Destiny City was not, in and of itself, complicated enough… there was always family to make it a little more complicated.

The Way things Go: Solo: --Jaimie's time away from Destiny--
“I can’t believe I’m even having this discussion.” His father snarled, his teeth grinding with such fury that within a hundred mile radius, dentists were cringing without knowing why. Jaimie was cringing from the sound, and he wasn’t a dentist, though he was the only son of Aslan Leontyne, (Who by the way did not think that any references to –those- books were remotely funny.)
“I’m pretty sure ‘screaming until we’re hoarse’ doesn’t count as a discussion.” Jaimie pointed out, though his eyes were narrowed in a wary squint, tempted to fish a cough drop out of his pocket for just this reason, though he wasn’t going to give his father the satisfaction of being the first one to do so. At this point, he was in so much trouble that spooning a healthy serving of snappy comeback onto things couldn’t possibly make things worse, unless his father actually reached for a weapon, though since the only thing he could do right by Aslan at this point would be to pass on the family name, he was relatively sure that wasn’t going to happen.
“Well, I’m hardly going to be THRILLED to hear that I’ve apparently wasted my energy trying to make your future be more impressive than the bargain bin at a book store! You have a FUTURE with the company!”
“No, I don’t!” Jaimie argued back, trying not to raise his own voice (because it was sore from arguing.) He couldn’t explain that he didn’t have a future because he stood a reasonable chance of being killed by terrorists in Destiny City, but fortunately he had a slightly more rational excuse than ‘I am a magical soldier for the moon’. “Look, Celeste has the business vibe. You gotta know that. She can eat people for BREAKFAST and look pretty doing it. PLUS she didn’t get caught shoplifting.” Which had been at Celeste’s behest, but he was the one who’d let her talk him into it. “I’m NOT as qualified as she is. SO LET ME DO THIS.”
He’d been trying not to raise his voice but it happened anyway, digging his heels in.
“Let you WASTE your life being some STARVING author? I don’t think so! No son of mine is going to do that on my watch!”
“If you hand me the reins to your company I will sell it, spit on your grave, and do what I want to anyway.”
For a minute, he thought Aslan was going to slap him. He looked furious enough to do so, and went so far as to draw his hand back, face red, jaw quivering, and he braced himself for it, but it never happened.
“Get. Out.” Aslan snarled softly, planting his hands on the desk. “We’ll discuss this, -later-.”
Jaimie said nothing, turning on his heel with as dignified a manner as he could manage when his legs had turned to water. On the one hand, things could have gone a whole lot worse… but then again… there was later. He didn’t like the sound of that ‘Later’.

Let's put on a show: -(Battle)- FIN - Regulus/Painite. Painite jumps Regulus at the theater, and finds out that tackling a Super Senshi is more than she's capable of handling yet. Regulus is rusty after his time away from 'the game' but a general bad mood does wonders for making him more aggressive than he once was, and he leaves her half conscious waiting for the cops.
