Jaimie would have, if he figured he had a choice in the mater, NOT have gone to the hospital, but in spite of all recalcitrance, and any mumbles about how the Senshi could heal more quickly than most, he recognized that at the very least, he wasn't equipped to set a broken ankle, and that strapping a couple boards, books, or pencils to it only worked on TV.
So there he was, at the Destiny City Hospital, glaring at an small TV set with a casted ankle, and a flitter of nurses that occasionally appeared to make cryptic, chirpy and condescending comments and check on his other injuries, including a fading concussion.
Stupid goddamn Mask.

He was still thinking about Moonstone, the bluehaired Linarite ((Who's negaverse name he didn't know.)), and Wolframite. Astrea would have probably, he assumed, had a conniption, but it made him wonder how the Negaverse -worked-, and why there seemed to be so many people his age, or in Wolframites case, possibly younger, in it. Monsters were one thing, but how had they gotten involved? And was he right in assuming that they also had a civilian identity?

"What the hell is this city turning into anyway?" He growled under his breath, not particularly watching the television, which was displaying an add for some kind of cleaning product.

Tallulah was technically still grounded. It was fortunate that Nellie and Angus were reasonable people who could reward freedom in exchange for good behavior, otherwise the wounded warrior would not be receiving a bedside visit from his girlfriend at all. It wasn't like you could tell your parents that your boyfriend was in Destiny City Memorial when you'd just been sent home from school with extensive bruising - they'd think you were both into some kind of fight club!

"Knock knock," she said, poking her head into the hospital room. Closed doors seemed to not exist around here, so it didn't really make sense to knock at all- "God, you look awful."

She crossed the room quickly and pulled a chair up to the bedside. "Blunt force trauma to everything, much?" she asked, sitting down. The board outside said he had a concussion - the line of bruises working their way down the side of his face made it easy to believe that.

"Hold on, details in a minute, I got you something," she said, reaching into her purse. A plush lion flopped onto Jaimie's chest - was that a beanie baby?! Those were practically an endangered species. "Poor Sir Regulus," she sighed.

You look awful:
There wasn't anything to argue on this point, so he honestly didn't try, quirking a half smile on the side of his face that Moonstone -hadn't- slammed a wooden mask into. ((He was pretty sure the bruise had a good reverse impression of its ridges, he just hadn't looked long enough to be sure.)) "Thanks. I was practicing my method acting with random skits and this part came up." He joked, eyebrows raising a moment later as she flopped a Beanie-lion onto his chest. "Oh hey! Where'd you turn him up?" He picked up off his chest with an half grin, still favoring the pummeled side of his face, though it felt better than it had the other night already. "...Sorry, this really wasn't something I planed to pencil in on my 'to do' list."

"Hospital gift shop," said Tallulah, smiling back. "He looked so lonely in between the fake flowers and sympathy cards. They make really good ice-packs if you stick them in the freezer."

"Well, I'm sure you got the role," she continued, leaning in to look at the bruises lining the side of the face. There was a definite odd shape to them, some sort of ridging and relief. "What did they hit you with?" she asked. "Did you catch their name? What happened?"

He'd been pretty vague on the phone - probably, she guessed, because there were nurses listening - but she could at least infer that this hadn't been a simple youma attack.

"It was a funky wooden mask." He explained, wincing. "I think her name was Moonstone. I was originally just trying to chase her off her patrol route, and she just -flipped-." He explained. "She was either babbling or talking in another language, not sure which, and just..." He trailed off. unable to maintain the illusion that the girls dangerous madness had been remotely amusing. "I've never run into someone that -dangerous- before. I don't think she was even phased until help arrived... Then she said something about them not having a choice in being on that side and ran off..."
He didn't normally look that dour or thoughtful, but something about the memory cast a shadow that looked as though he had aged years in minutes.

Tallulah was quiet, mulling this revelation over. "I think," she said, after a long moment's consideration, "That it's safe to say our introductory period is over. It's like we talked about at the meeting- they attack to kill, so should we."

She sighed. Tallulah was not particularly looking forward to killing anyone, but already even the nightly destruction of youma was beginning to desensitize her. Scrapes and cuts didn't hurt nearly as much as they used to; maybe there was some merit to video games leading to school violence after all.

She gave the lion resting on Jaimie's chest a gentle nudge. "What did she look like? So I know not to piss her off-"

If this was what the girl had done to Jaimie, who knew what she could do to Tallulah!

Jaimie nodded grimly, having to concede this point. "I know. Doesn't make it any less crazy though." He frowned slightly, dragging his feet about being tugged, inexorably, into a lethal war.
"Black hair in a braid, kind of darker skin, maybe native american?" He listed. "Brown uniform with tastles and a red wood mask, I think it was a stylized bear or something if that matters. I really do think she was downright crazy... I mean it was like watching someone flip a switch!"

"I'll keep an eye out for her," Tallulah assured him, dedicating the description to memory. Of course it was a good idea to be wary around any and all negaverse agents - Wolframite hadn't exactly been a pushover - but if some were more dangerous than others then it was good information to have.

She elected not to comment on 'flipping the switch' at present, although it was something she suspected they would all have to face in time. Instead, she bit her tongue for a moment before saying, "But I'm not here as your teammate. I'm here as your girlfriend. I wanted to see how you were feeling. When do they think you'll be able to leave?"

"As soon as they're convinced that I'm not just going to keel over." He explained, trying to put on a joking face again, though he still didn't feel much like joking. In the battle with Moonstone he was pretty sure he'd lost another huge chunk of his youth, and any illusions at all that this fight wasn't serious. "I figure that shouldn't take too long, so far no ones asked how I'm healing this fast and I hope it stays that way, because there's no good explanation. Not looking forward to crutches though. That's going to stink."
PostPosted: Thu Mar 25, 2010 11:22 am

"I never did figure out how to work those," said Tallulah off-handedly. Tallulah had sprained her ankle once in a long story involving a high dive, discovered she was horrible with crutches, and spent all week limping around hanging onto various friends. She had gone out of her way not to need them since.

"It'll get you out of gym class, though, right?" she suggested, as something of a consolation prize. She didn't know how things worked at Hillworth, but at Meadowview any injury impeding your ability to walk was worthy of a library pass. "How long do you think you'll be on those?" she added. "Because, I mean, prom is in a few weeks-"

There, thought Tallulah triumphantly. She'd said it. Now all that remained was to see if Jaimie outright rejected the idea or not.

Jaimie blinked, then did another of his currently lopsided grins, which honestly didn't help that much to make his face ache less, but it did help a little, and the small, illusion of normalcy offered by the prom with his also-a-senshi-girlfriend... that was... nice.
"I'm sure I can convince someone to take it off by then. That failing." He cleared his throat and put on a mockingly innocent face. "There's always shop class."

Tallulah raised an eyebrow at him and grinned back. Leaning in towards him, she said, very seriously, "If you accidentally chop off your leg, I will never, ever forgive you."

(She was joking, right? She sort of looked like she was joking.)

Tallulah laughed a moment later, revealing that she was, in fact, joking. "Don't worry, I trust you more than that. I guess I'd better go pick out a dress, huh?"

"Definitely. And with any luck I won't be worrying if my dress pants fit over a cast... just if Parker burned them to demonstrate his opinions on the upper class. Actually if he did something he'd probably drop them in a charity bin, but he's been pretty good about that kind of thing since we threw quotes at each other when he moved in." He held up his hand in sollemn vow. "I also swear solemnly not to chop my leg off."

"Is he still going out with Dani?" asked Tallulah. She was still leaning on the bedrail, moving awkwardly back and forth as it wobbled. She actually wasn't so sure that Parker and Dani had ever actually been dating, but it had looked that way back in November and nothing her blue-haired friend had said since could really contradict the assumption.

"If they are," she continued, her enthusiasm gradually increasing, "Maybe we should double date with them!"

She pushed his hand down, smiling. "I'll hold you to it. Should I ask Dani about it? Do you think asking Parker would be kind of risky?"

Anyone who would go as far as to burn their roommate's pants might be a bit tough to ask about prom, she reflected while she waited for a response.

To be perfectly honest, Parker had never inflicted harm on any part of Jaimies wardrobe, let alone his pants... but that hardly got in the way of an entertaining story, especially when he thought Tal could use it to keep her thoughts off his pummeling. Of course he hadn't even known Parker was datingeither. That went to demonstrate how much they communicated.
"Parker has a girlfeind?" He started, surprised, then continued, "I'll ask him. Worse thing he can say is no, right?"
