NEWS FLASH! NEWS FLASH!
The DCPD is puzzled as two more Destiny City banks have been robbed, this time both within downtown city limits, leaving a total of about twenty-five customers and employees dead or in critical condition. Security tapes have, once again, been destroyed, and more confusingly both robberies seemed to have transpired entirely before the police got there, and in broad daylight.
Police are offering a reward for more information.

NEWS FLASH! NEWS FLASH!Rumors have been surfacing around the Xanis Family regarding the elder son's inheritance and his father's alleged mistresses, tying into the the family's recent interest in starting a high end hotel in Destiny City. The family patriarch is slated to arrive in June for his son's graduation and business ventures, but the tabloids are all a twitter! The largest rumor is that of Giovanni Xanis's infidelity. However, the smaller rumor that seems to be that Giovanni has ties to the criminal underworld, and he's not welcome in Destiny City. Not welcome at all.NEWS FLASH! NEWS FLASH!

NEWS FLASH! NEWS FLASH!
The Destiny City epidemic has hit national news, causing speculation and hysteria all over the United States. Destiny City has been temporarily quarantined, instituting roadblocks for all but food and other necessary deliveries and other emergency situations, and specifically the downtown area of the outbreak has been quarantined for further investigation. Downtown Destiny City is largely empty save police and emergency vehicles, people having largely deserted it for the suburbs in fear of the unknown plague -- only Destiny City Memorial Hospital remains busy, active and open.
The National Guard has been called in to control rioting, looting and other chaos, and the city is, for the moment, under control. The CDC has also come in to investigate the epidemic. The current working theory is rumored to be some kind of anti-personnel bomb set off around the area of the Museum of Art, but no official statement has been released.
News pundits are suspecting overseas terrorism; fundamentalists claim the Rapture. The President has made a television appearance urging the nation to remain calm.
Meadowview High School has been closed until further notice, as many of its students and staff have fallen victim to the comas, including its own principal. Hillworth Grammar School and Crystal Academy are closed for classes but still maintain housing for their students. Classes are also cancelled at Sovereign Heights Preparatory.

NEWS FLASH! NEWS FLASH! Daniela Rymner, known to some as Sailor Magellan, has slipped into a coma following a traumatic brain injury. http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?page=1&t=19210167#252263543She is believed to be irreparably brain damaged. Doctors have recommended she be taken off of life support. No word has come on the Rymners' decision on their daughter's behalf. Parker Damhnait, known to some as Sailor Taranis, has not reported to Hillworth (or to anyone) since news of her grevious injury. A missing persons report was filed by Hillworth, but as he is no longer a minor, it is largely assumed that he merely ran away to avoid the stress of graduation. All attempts to contact him via his cellphone or email are unsuccessful. NEWS FLASH! NEWS FLASH!

NEWS FLASH!Elke Arma, known to some as Soldier Virgo, has died. http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=19289463The official cause of death is cardiac arrest from an unknown cause; she died peacefully, in her sleep. Her body is to be held in cold storage until the end of the quarantine, at which point it will be sent to France to be buried by her family. She is survived by her parents and her two brothers. NEWS FLASH! NEWS FLASH!
The mysterious sickness -- dubbed the "Destiny City plague" by the press -- that has rendered much of the city comatose has been determined to not be contagious, and the Destiny City quarantine has been lifted: people may now leave and enter the city.
The downtown area of the outbreak has still been cordoned off by police and National Guard, though, due to concerns about looting. The Guard and the CDC are still in place in the city, as well as a vast number of relief workers sent by the Red Cross and other health organizations to aid the overworked and undersupplied Destiny City hospitals.
There are also rumors of strange creature sightings, but much of this has been put down to hysteria. The DCPD is offering a reward for more information.

NEWS FLASH! NEWS FLASH!While Crystal Academy is quiet these days due to the lack of lessons, there was a bit of a hullabaloo that went on in the dorms. Some girls were surprised to see Serenade Soriano dripping wet and brushing by them without an apology. Screaming and a few crashes were heard, and those who emerged from their rooms in curiosity would note the usually demure girl fighting with movers, and eventually locked herself up in her dorm room. http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=19297631After the door was forced open, Serenade Soriano was found to have fainted on the floor and was given a change of clothes and put to bed while her deceased roommate's things were moved out. NEWS FLASH! NEWS FLASH!
The city remains wrapped in chaos as those who have slipped into comatose states vary in mental activity. Doctors are stunned as some seem to slip deeper into their dreams while other begin to show signs of twitching, vivid dreaming, while others still remain as they were at the start.
No one has any explanation. That is, until, miraculously, some begin to wake. Others, however, cause a panic as they fade, their lives simply winding to a close in their sleep. Each room has at least one pair of eyes glued to the monitor, a nurse, a doctor, a loved one, a friend, a complete stranger. Each monitor has a decision to make: stronger beeps, and a dreamer awoke, or a long, drawn out tone of endless sleep.
Queen Nehelenia manages to kill Alexandros in his bed in the hospital. Thus the nightmare comes to an end, with the Pyrite Crystal releasing a pulse of magical energy so strong it kills her in return. And anyone within its range: Hector and Wiseman.
The dreamers, still toiling in their puzzles and traps, are dropped from their mystifying situations like a connection interrupted, first slipping into blackness and then, slowly, finding themselves awaking in their hospital rooms. They are in varied states, some like waking for a refreshing nap, others weak and requiring further observation in the hospital.
Others still don't wake at all. Among the numbers: Thuban, and Aphrodite. Perhaps they were too close to the Crystal, or perhaps they were just some of the unlucky few. Upon hearing of the death of his friend, Gene takes his own life quietly. With the death of Thuban and Ray, Nerissa decides to leave town and takes a bus away from the troubled city. Edward, too, moves from Destiny City without much of a word. Some are lost in the chaos, whether they have died or have simply moved is anyone's guess.
Elsewhere, the youma problem within the city is running rampant, and before the dreamers wake there are some casualties in the war. Included here are Aries, Kunzite, and Proxima.
Yet life moves on, and things must return to some kind of normalcy. The National Guard and other forces called in to protect and regulate the city are pulled out as peace, in a relative sense, returns. Schools are opened. Work resumes. The day to day grind returns, for everyone.
And yet such peace can't last long, can it? The Negaverse is stirring, and change is on the wind.

NEWS FLASH! NEWS FLASH!As the people of Destiny City slowly, but surely reroute their lives into something resembling normalcy, one morning their day is met with yet another oddity. However, for once it isn't a monster, a terrorist, an alien or some mysterious plague. Sitting benignly in everyone's mailbox amidst bills and credit card offers and the latest edition of their magazine subscriptions is an strangely-colored envelope bearing an equally strangely-shaped seal... Upon opening it, one will find no nightmare creatures crawling out or knockout gas assaulting their senses. It's nothing more than a harmless letter, with an official-looking letterhead and a collection of signatures at the bottom: Letter from the City Council Dear Citizen: You are cordially invited to attend Destiny City's first annual Halloween Carnival that will begin on October 24th and run until October 31st. On the night of the 31st, the festivities will end with a masquerade ball and special event for all participants. In light of our city's recent disasters, we feel it necessary to reassure our citizens that Destiny City is still an ideal place to live in, despite the 'gangs' and 'vigilantes.' As all cities have their own 'gang' related problems, we the City Council feel it is the right of the citizens to keep the city thriving and fight against the oppressing current of gang-related violence. Tickets for the carnival will be sold at the entrance for $5 a day. Tickets for the Ball must be ordered no later than October 18th - you may drop by the City Council office in downtown Destiny City to purchase your tickets ($15 per person, $25 per couple) or return your order with a check in the enclosed envelope. You are welcome to come in-costume to the Ball, though we request all participants refrain from wearing costumes designed after known city gangs or terrorist groups. Violators of this rule will be IMMEDIATELY escorted off of the premises with NO TICKET REFUND. All revenue gained through ticket sales will be donated to the Destiny City Restoration Foundation. There seems to be a lot of news going around about strange happenings. People are seeing odd things, but without any substantiating evidence to support these reports, it appears the denizens of Destiny City will just have to deal with these rumors for themselves. But sightings and unexplainable, perhaps paranormal activities are occurring with increasing frequency.
Maybe. Depends on if one believes the rumors. Or experiences something for themselves.
After all, there is no such thing as ghosts.
Right?
It's probably just the time of year. Oh hey, the Haunted House is opening soon!

NEWS FLASH! NEWS FLASH!The night of the First Annual Destiny City Halloween Carnival has arrived! The opening ceremonies will be prompt, and then anyone who has purchased a ticket will be free to enter the grounds and partake of the many (and boy are there a ton!) wonderful things that the City Council has arranged! Also noteworthy is the fact they’re still desperately looking for kids from the local high schools to volunteer running games, and that Halloween Ball tickets will be on sale for this one night only.
