WELCOME TO THE CARNIVAL!

A large banner touting this reception is erected over the main concourse stage, several people in important-looking black suits, and one woman in an incredibly eye-searing orange one mill about. It doesn't take long before she steps up to the microphone, speaking in an exuberant voice. “Welcome, one and all to the First Annual Destiny City Halloween Carnival! Each and every one one of us on the City Council has worked hard to bring the best marvels and biggest thrills possible to you, our citizens!” The men behind her fidget just a bit with nerves, a lot could go wrong, but hopefully everything is safe. After all, it’s been rather quiet lately in Destiny City!

With a flourish, the rope blocking the carnival-goers is pulled back and the masses let into the transformed fairgrounds. What had once been a rather deserted old park had been decorated, staged, and set with all sorts of goodies. Game booths with their hecklers calling out to any passers-by, over a dozen different rides flashing their lights, and towering above the entire thing to dominate the skyline of the carnival was the spiderweb-motif Ferris Wheel. The sights, however, far from outdo the sickening-yet-delicious aromas of fried food and sugary treats in the air. Things that parents only tell their children they can have one of, while desperately searching for something remotely healthy, which they won’t find here!

It’s Halloween, the workers are all in costumes, and everything is set for a good time! So come on in, won’t you, and partake in the festivities?

ATTRACTIONS and OPPORTUNITIES

Attractions --

There are literally endless things to do here! The biggest attractions though, are always the rides. Provided at the front, along with a map of the grounds, are a list of the rides available:

Spiderweb Ferris Wheel
Scrambler
Swinger
Carousel
Super Slide
Orbiter
Hurricane
Pumpkin Bounce House
Tilt-A-Whirl
Pirate Ship
Haunted Hayride
Corn Maze -- Under Construction!
Various Fun Houses and Kiddie Rides!

Opportunities --

Want to earn a little bit of money, but not sure you can handle a full-time or long-term job? Never fear, we’re still looking for young employees with flexible schedules. Please come to the Fairground Administration building for more information!

More Information -- You can have your character run a game booth or any sort of stand that interests you! Maybe they’re not that into games and are good at food? Awesome, put them in a food stand! Adults are also welcome to help as security and to oversee the students so that they don’t get too lazy!

Running Games --

Any player has the ability to run their own game at the carnival! The high schools have heavily encouraged this, and are giving out extra credit and/or community service hours to the kids who do participate and help raise funds for the cause! There are, however, a few rules and criteria!

~ Any student running a game must be at least 15 years old.
~ Any thread with a user-run game should have [GAME] next to the title. You may have one booth per player.
~ The game can be anything! Bobbing for apples, ring toss, done however you want! Maybe it’s a guessing game, a dice game, whatever rings your bells. It must be a simple game, however!
~ The staff reserve the right to shut down or ask you to change your game at any point.

NOTE TO GAME-PLAYERS! -- Your ticket is also a punch card. Every time you win a player-run game, you get a punch for your ticket. Win enough punches, and your name will be put into a special drawing after the Ball for some Wonderful Prizes!

Got Questions? Please don't be afraid to ask in the thread, and hopefully one of the staff will be able to get back to you asap!

The Haunted House!

The Destiny City Central Library seems to have undergone quite the change over night! What was once a calm and peaceful place to come and read some books is now a spooky, scary place to… come and read some books!

By day, the library is still open and fully functioning, with added features of Halloween themed games for kids in the children’s section on the first floor, as well as creepy movies in the technology center! Each computer is decked out with Halloween themed desktops and icons, and the front desk greets patrons with equally themed music.

The entry is decorated in traditional Halloween fare: ghosts, cobwebs, spiders, rats and even a fog machine. Patrons can spend their day about their usual library tasks, or enjoying free candy and movies, Halloween themed kid’s shows and performances, and other distractions. Come nightfall, however, the library closes it’s front desk and moves away from handing out books to handing out frights.

Welcome to the Destiny City Central Haunted House!

Each floor is designated as a different level of fright: depending on how much fear you think you can handle, you decided which of the expansive floors to explore. Each one is decorated accordingly, with mazes and tricks galore. There is simply no telling just what awaits you, as each visit seems to bring a different result!

The first floor -- The child friendly zone. Scary just enough for kids to be creeped out, but still enjoy themselves, the first floor welcomes any and all to the Halloween themed fun. Trick or treating and Halloween games can be played.

The second floor -- A place of general scares and good times, the second floor is designed for those who need more of a thrill. It is built with the average school-age kid in mind, who want to be frightened and exhilarated, and who aim for screams and laughs alike. It is not an appropriate place to bring small children, as sudden scares and loud noises may surprise them to tears.

The third floor -- The place to come for full out scares. If you want to be terrified, the third floor is the place for you. As creepy as it can get, without the actual threat of real physical harm, the third floor has no write up. No directions. It is a maze of walls and darkness, and whatever is lurking in those shadows is up to only the bravest to discover.

The fourth floor -- What are you talking about? There is no fourth floor. If there was, the danger and terror there would be out of this world. But there’s not. Watch out for that elevator, though. It’s been acting up.

General Information --

Each floor can have whatever you guys want on it. Whatever and where ever you RP is fine, so long as it’s reasonable! The fourth floor has no restraints, and anything can happen up there. It's said though, that anyone who can make it through the fourth floor and come back with a story to tell is a local hero. Who doesn't want to be a hero?

(If you want a staff member to pop into a RP with a random monster or twist of their choosing, simply label the RP with a [HReg] or [HBat] (or even [HSolo] if you’d like!). If not, just label them normally, and the staff will leave you alone to your own plots and devices! A warning though, any thread made on the fourth floor is automatically open to staff due to its special nature. Have fun!)

Happy Halloween.
