Regular - So it's a date? - Tallulah and Jaimie - Complete

Jaimie and Tallulah go on a date to see Where the Wild Things Are. (It's about time!!) About half an hour into the movie, they give up on snarking it and decide to just kiss.

It was really amazing how much usable footage her camera had taken of the fight with the elephant thing, even after she’d dropped it. Unfortunately, there was quite a lot that was incriminating of her identity, and a lot of it was useless.

“I can’t post this,” moaned Tallulah, slouching in her desk chair. Three more comments appeared in her youtube inbox.







She smiled wryly at the last one, knowing that there were certainly no vampires to have anything to do with the senshi, but remained hunched over. The video was just too incriminating. There was no way she could post it.

Or was there? She’d gotten a lot of good footage, and after Alex’s lessons she felt much more comfortable with the video editing software. There was a scaled down version standard on her computer, and she fired it up and imported the video. There really was some good footage here… maybe she could cut it to protect their identities without losing the important parts.

Yes, she could. The elephant coming to life, that was good. And Pyxis’s attack. And running through the woods trying to keep tracking the elephant. Cut it where she fell, snap to… hmm. Running back towards the fight with the cat following her. That was good, and then fighting the elephant. All of that was good. It was far away. She zoomed the shot in a little bit so they could see what they did with the swing set and how they killed it, and then… cut. Right before they powered down. That was good.

Hopefully her viewers would not question why this video was so cut up when the others had been straight shots. Hopefully it wouldn’t matter. She uploaded the video and tagged it.

“Meadowview, Destiny City, Terrorists, Senshi, Fight, Elephant, Playground.”

She had decided it was her goal to sub in the word senshi for terrorists, although, looking at the damage done to the playground, she could see why people thought they were terrorists. The park had been on the news that morning, a story about hooligans wrecking the playground equipment and how it had to be a concerted effort because the elephant was too big for one or two people to move and then there was the whole issue of the mangled swing set…

Of course, the actual answer was the simplest and also the one they would overlook.

Tallulah titled the video “When Playground Equipment Attacks!” and hit submit. Hopefully that would satiate her viewing audience for a few days. Right now it was time to head back to the scene of the crime for some stargazing.

Upon getting off patrol, Tallulah hadn’t really had time to think about what had happened earlier before she forced herself into the shower. She felt dirty all over now that she’d henshined down, and wasn’t sure how much of it was from the sludge monster, how much of it was from her own grunginess from running around the city, and how much of it was from… him.

Sailor Castor. Elzo Xanis. Him. Upon transforming back, she’d found his phone number tucked into the waistband of her underwear. It was almost enough to make her gag. Tallulah wanted to gag, but Europa had enjoyed it, hadn’t she? Europa had seen it as pretty damn exciting: fighting monsters, leaping tall buildings in a single bound, kissing Sailor Castor (even if he’d been the one kissing her, really).

Tallulah did not approve of what her alter ego enjoyed doing, and reminded herself that she was never going to speak of this again, and if she saw Sailor Castor again, she wouldn’t let him get close enough for a repeat. And besides, there was Jaimie. She couldn’t tell Jaimie about this. Ever.

But Elzo Xanis went to Hillworth. Elzo Xanis might tell Jaimie about this.

But Elzo Xanis had to protect his identity just as much as she did, and he didn’t know her civilian name. Tallulah was glad she hadn’t told him, tried to banish the thought, and scrubbed her arms harder.

Call her repressed, but she’d had fun as Sailor Europa tonight. Even if she was disgusted and ashamed by her behavior now, it had been enjoyable to let loose for a few hours without the fear of someone judging her later for it. ”I like to keep my civilian and working identities separate,” she’d said, and she meant it.

Elzo Xanis/Sailor Castor would never find out that Tallulah Cowden and Sailor Europa were the same person.

She did not think about what would happen if he did, just assumed he wouldn’t. Assured herself he wouldn’t.

She turned off the water and got out of the shower. She put on her pajamas and brushed her teeth. She did this robotically, automatically, trying not to think about any of the night’s events or else she might have nightmares.

Tomorrow, she decided, she would call Jaimie. She would tell him that she liked him and wanted to go out with him again. It wasn’t forward, just getting things done, and Tallulah was good at getting things done. Besides, if she made plans then it would keep her from going out on Patrol again, keep her from maybe running into Castor again, keep… what had happened earlier… from happening again.

She would never talk about it. Ever.

Tallulah collapsed exhausted into bed and was asleep almost immediately. This did not keep her from dreaming of talking cats, handsome sailor suited warriors, and kissing on rooftops.

Regular - Cruising the Beat - Europa and Castor - Complete

Worst. Patrol. Ever. Europa runs into Castor while making her usual rounds, and accidentally lets it slip that it's her birthday. Castor, being Castor, will not let this go uncelebrated. Meanwhile, Europa falls off a roof. It is not the smoothest getaway the world has ever seen.

Tallulah made a plan. It went like this:

• 1. Avoid Sailor Castor.
  
• 2. If you do encounter Sailor Castor, stay far away from him.
  
• 3. If Sailor Castor gets close to you, punch him in the face and run away.

There was nothing after punching Castor in the face and running away, but the general assumption was that if step three didn’t work, she would go all dead inside and wait for him to go away. Maybe he was like the kind of animal that would go away if it thought its prey was predeceased.

Thus, her plan gained a fourth step.

• 4. Play possum.

In the event that all of these failed… well, Tallulah was not quite sure where that left her. Sailor Castor did not seem like he was actually a creepy rapist, and he hadn’t made any attempts to follow her after she’d fallen off the roof. No, at her weakest moment, he’d left her alone. (And, she admitted reluctantly, she was glad for that, because she probably wouldn’t have wanted to accept his help, anyway.)

This line of thought, of course, really did not get her anywhere at all. She filed the plan away, deep in the recesses of her mind, for later use (or not).

This still left the question of why, of all the Senshi there had to be out running around Destiny City, she always seemed to run into Castor. Since she was at her desk, Tallulah got out a piece of paper and made a rough sketch of the neighborhood. She outlined her patrol route, a broad circle from her house to the playground and then to a nearby commercial district and back. She circled where she tended to run into Castor, and then she felt wonderfully stupid.

If she and Pyxis patrolled on set routes, who was to say that the other Senshi weren’t doing the same? If she changed her route to avoid the areas Castor frequented, drawing it more to the south and east, who was to say she wouldn’t solve her own problem?

And if Castor was working a set route, then it stood to follow that so were Pegasus, Regulus, Atlas, and many other active Senshi. She’d run into the first two at Meadowview, hadn’t she? Maybe it was time to venture back to the school after dark. (Briefly, she wondered if there was any sort of etiquette involved in visiting another Senshi’s ‘turf’, or if such a concept even existed… The point being that, beyond the brief lecture from Chloe, she was woefully uninformed about everything.)

Tallulah added a fifth, final step to her plan:

• 5. Get more information (and avoid Sailor Castor)!

She thought that that about covered everything.
