Risa was standing in a line that was at least a half an hour long to the ticket booth. She and Matthias were supposed to be going to see Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince. The usually friendly, kind fae was becoming impatient. Matth wasn't there yet, so she didn't have anyone to talk to. Miles had opted for staying home, muttering something about adults needing their privacy.
Risa didn't know what was meant by that, but.. It was nice to go anywhere. She'd been unable to leave her bedroom for a few days a while back, and was still appreciating the ability to walk outside.
Matthias headed towards the line, eyes scanning for a familiar face. He'd never been to one of these "theatre" things....last time he'd been to a threatre, it was to see a play, and he'd been personally invited by an old associate. But that was a long time ago.
"Hello, Risa." he greeted, walking over to the familiar face, giving her a small bow. "You look lovely this evening, as always." He offered her a small smile, and ignored the looks and "ohmigosh"'s from the teenage girls behind them in line.
Risa brightened considerably when she caught sight of Matth. She blushed as he complimented her. "You look nice too," She said, before slipping her hand into hers. She turned to glare at the teenagers behind them. Didn't they know that he was hers? Didn't they know that--
Well, someone was secretly possessive.
Matthias smiled, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. He blinked, then chuckled. "You need not mind them, Risa." he said, his tone amused. "Young ones cannot help themselves at that age." He offered a reassuring smile before leaning in to kiss her cheek.
Risa's blush deepened and a smile spread across her face. "I can't help it." She said, somewhat defensively. "I don't want to lose you." The line moved about a foot closer to the ticket booth, not that it helped much.
Matthias looked amused. "You would not. I am not that easily swayed or stolen." he said, stepping forward as the line moved. "You need not worry about losing me." He smiled, chuckling at the blush that moved across her cheeks.
Risa gave a relieved smile. "Good." She said, before she paused and looked up at him. "I'm paying for the tickets, alright?" Yes, she knew it was against tradition, that the guy was supposed to buy the tickets--but she'd invited him. It was only fair for her to pay, wasn't it?
Matthias frowned. "But I already counted out the money for the tickets." he said, pulling the bills out of his picket. "Please, allow me to pay for our tickets. You save your money, Risa." He smiled, accidentally flashing a bit of fang.
One of the girls squealed in delight and whispered something about "vampire" and "Twilight".
Risa sighed. "Fine." She said, though she was smiling. "I'll just pay for the refreshments." Then she turned to glare at the teenagers again. "He's not a vampire.." She muttered. "He doesn't even look like one."
Matthias smiled. "Good thing I do not eat much." he said, smirking. He looked back at the teens, winked, flashed a little fang, and turned around. Hey, why not have a little fun?
The teenagers tittering increased, though silenced when Matthias put an arm around Risa.
Risa had forgotten that, and gave a slight frown. "You just eat other things." She said, before glancing at the teenagers again. Argh. She didn't remember meeting any teenager this annoying--but then, maybe it was because she had never had someone to be possesive over.
"Matth, don't flirt with your fanclub over there." She complained. "Not that I blame them--you are rather handsome."
Matthias smiled, leaning in to whisper. "Not flirting. I am just....toying with them. Humans are rather amusing." he said, chuckling. That, and one of them looked like she could be a potential snack. (aka no-kill feeding)
Risa smiled and shook her head. "That's not very nice, Matth." The line was growing shorter now, they were almost to the ticket booth. Risa leaned in to whisper in Matth's ear. "Anyway, they don't look like they'd taste very good."
Matthias smiled; oh, he'd have to disagree. Not that he'd say it out loud. "I know it is not "very nice"....and I apologize. I should be on best behaviour." he said, chuckling.
"Preferably." Risa said, teasing. "There are times when bad behavior is encouraged.. But not at a movie theater." Uh-oh, so much for Risa being an innocent seelie. This was one of the times her unseelie side showed most.
"We're next, Matth." She pointed out.
Matthias chuckled, shaking his head. Someone was WAY too amused. "That does not stop human teenager most of the time." He stated, money in hand. "So, what moving picture are we going to view?" he asked, looking over at her.
"Yes, but we aren't human." Risa muttered, before moving on to his next question. "Oh, Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince. The princess said it was good." She shrugged. Of course it had to be, if the princess had said so.
Matthias nodded, then stepped forward, ordering the tickets. Harry Potter; why did that sound familiar? Oh; Stasia had the books on one of her bookshelves. Hm, turning books into moving pictures; interesting.
"So, what snacks would you like to get?" he asked, smiling innocently.
Risa just smiled, shaking her head. "I'm getting the snacks." She said. "You can go find our seats if you want something to do~" Yes, she knew what he was trying to do. Trying to buy the snacks when she'd already said she would. Sneaky, but not sneaky enough. She went into the refreshment line.
Matthias shrugged; it had been worth a shot. "As you will." he said, smiling. "I'd rather wait; wouldn't want to lose you in here." A.k.a. he didn't want to get lost in here.
Risa smiled, and ordered the snacks. A soda, a large water for Matth, a medium bag of popcorn, a bag of skittles. She paid the cashier, and flashed him a smile before going to join Matth. "It's harder to lose me than you think." She said, teasing as she took his hand. She led him to the middle row. "You pick the seats?"
Matthias gave his eyes a dramatic roll. "You may pick; I do not know which seats would offer optimal viewing opprotunities." he said, motioning her onwards. He eyes a certain colored bag she held....were those Skittles?
Risa led him to the middle of the row, smiling as she sat down. "Want them?" She asked, noticing that he'd seen the skittles. "I got them for you--didn't know what you liked." She handed him the water as well. "Didn't think you should have soda though, you know... with.." She put her finger to her teeth. "Cavities would be bad."
Matthias smiled. "Sure. Thank you. I love skittles....even if they have changed a great deal since I first had them." He nodded, accepting the food and drink. "Thank you, Risa....though, soda wouldn't be too bad. My teeth are not so weak that a little drink can do them harm."
"Would you like a soda?" Risa asked, blinking at him. "I was told too much sugar was bad for you. Hm." But at that moment, the cheesy music stopped playing and the room went dark. Previews started to play.
Matthias shook his head. "No, water is just fine." he said, smiling. "...who told you that?" he asked, curious. He blinked as the music stopped, eyes going to the large screen, widening in sheer amazement. "Wow..." was all he was able to manage.
Risa shook her head, chuckling. "Miles." She said, in answer to his question. "You've really never been to a movie before, have you?" She took his hand, and leaned back into her chair. She offered him some popcorn with a smile.
Matthias shook his head. "I meant it when I said I hadn't." He said, sitting back in his seat and taking a piece of popcorn. "Thank you, for the popcorn and for inviting me." He said, seemingly amused by the previews. He thought this was the movie. "Why does the storyline jump around so much?" he asked, confused.
"You don't like modern things, do you?" Risa asked, before blinking. "Thank you for coming." She said, sounding genuinely grateful. "Oh, and you're welcome." She paused, and gave him a confused glance. "Oh, this isn't the movie." She explained. "These are.. what do you call them... advertisements. For other movies."
"I have nothing against them." Matthias said, looking over and smiling a bit. "I am...just not used to them." He looked back a the screen, looking confused. Advertisements for a movie before a movie? How odd.
Risa nodded. "I didn't either, for a while. Thali introduced me to most things just recently." She blushed, and was thankful for the darkness. Then the movie started to play.
Matthias began eating skittles as the movie started, washing them down with water. Uh-oh.
As the bridge on screen collapsed, a few people in the theatre gasped....and a certain long-haired one cheered and laughed, apparently amused by the destruction.
Risa blinked, and turned to look at Matth. "What's so funny?" She asked, and several people Shh!-ed her. "What's so funny?" She whispered.
Matthias offered a small smile, pointing to the screen. "The movie." he said, chuckling. Honestly, wasn't it obvious how hilarious that scene was? With all the little humans running around and screaming; oh so amusing.
Risa gave him a confused look, before looking back to the screen. She didn't think it was funny. "Matth, there's nothing about this scene..." She said, before frowning slightly. Of course. Unseelie. "I see."
Matthias chuckled. Well, it wasn't so much the people he found funny. It was just seeing the massive bridge getting taken down. "Sorry, Risa." he said softly, shrugging.
Risa just shook her head, smiling. She should have known what she was getting into, falling in love with an unseelie. "It's alright. I admit, the bridge was pretty epic."
Matthias smiled, turning back to the movie. How did they manage to get the effects so realistic? Was it....was it actually real? He sat there, eyes wide with wonder.
Risa noticed his wonder, and chuckled. "It's not real, you know Matth." She told him, taking his hand again. "Just a movie."
Matthias took her hand, smiling lightly. "But then...how do they get it to appear so real? Special effects weren't nearly this sophisticated....." He trailed off, the movie captivating his attention again.
"The last time you saw a movie, they were in black in white." She reminded him. "Times change." Her attention was veered back to the screen. Why was Matth so interested in all the violent parts? Risa stole a skittle, and plopped it into her mouth.
Matthias nodded. She had a point. And as to why he was so interested....well, the violent parts tended to have more special effects. So, naturally, the seemed more interesting to him.
The movie went on, until Remus and Tonks showed up, and the Weasleys' house was in flames. Risa shook her head and chuckled. "This isn't how it went at all." She said, glancing at Matth.
Matth was giggling right along with Bellatrix, actually cheering the witch on. In doing so, he earned quite a few glares from the people around them. Whoops.
Risa couldn't help it, she giggled, and leaned in to kiss Matth on the cheek. She silently wondered what had him in such a good mood-- but she wasn't about to discourage him.
Matthias smiled as he was kissed, glancing over at Risa. One word could answer her question: sugar. He smiled, kissed her back, then stuck his tongue out at the person who sat behind them, who'd been muttering about him the entire movie.
Risa smiled, blushed, and blinked as Matth turned to stick his tongue out at some teenage guy. She smiled politely at the boy, before she turned her attention back to the movie. Dumbledore had died by now.[
Matthias turned around just as Dumbledore went flying back. As some people gasped and sniffled....Matthias let out a cheer, pumping one fist in the air. That earning him glares and an empty cup getting thrown at him.
Risa couldn't help it, she started to giggle. She laughed so hard and so silently that she had to lean against Matth. Two of the people sitting next to our favorite romantic pair glared, and muttered behind their hands.
Matth grinned; finally, Risa seemed to find it as amusing as he did! He put an arm around the younger fae, giving her a hug. He looked at his half-empty cup of water for a moment before proceeding to dump it on the muttering people.
It wasn't the movie that was amusing Risa so much--it was Matth. She doubted very much that he found the movie as amusing as all this--it had to be something else. Then her eyes fell on a brightly colored bag. Aha! So this is what sugar did to unseelie. She would keep that in mind.
It might come in handy later.
Well, it didn't do it to all unseelie....just Matth. Centuries hadn't been enough time for him to outgrow or raise his low sugar tolerance. He popped another skittle in his mouth, looking back to the the screen, happily watching the credits roll.
Risa giggled, and snatched the remainder of the skittles from Matth. "No no," She said shaking her head at him. "No more sugar for you." She took his hand. "Ready to go?"
Matthias frowned. "But those are my skittles." he said, reaching for them. "Besides, I am old enough to decide how much I am allowed to have, thank you." He ignored her question; he wouldn't be ready to go until he got his skittles back!
Risa turned away, pouring the skittles into her hand. She handed him the empty bag. "There." She said. "But don't you think I'm sweet enough for the both of us?" She winked at him. "Trust me, I'll bring you some fudge home from my job soon."
Matthias frowned, then smiled a bit. "You are." he admitted, chuckling. "And that would be nice. Thank you, Risa." He stood up, stretching a bit before sprinting to the aisle, waiting there for Risa.
Risa smiled, and followed after Matth. She took his hand. "Want to go to the park?" She asked. Yes, to the park. Matth could use all his new found energy there, and she could play on the swings.
Matth smiled, nodding. "Sure, if that is what you wish." he said, gently holding her hand as he started walking down the aisle. Maybe he could get a treat there; hopefully one of the ice-cream vendors would be out today.
Risa returned his smile, and led him into the bright sunlight. "Come on!" She said. "The ice cream man'll leave if we don't get there soon!" She honestly had no idea she and Matth were thinking on the same lines. It was much too hot to not have ice cream. And she would get Matth the sugarfree kind.
Matthias didn't seem to mind the sudden brightness. "Alright!" he said, grinning. "Race you there!" he said and, without waiting for an answer, took off running as fast as he could. Sugar-free would DEFINITELY be a good idea.
Risa blinked, watching him go. She didn't bother to run after him, no. The park wasn't that far away, she could see it from where she was standing. She took her favorite shortcut, and was there within five minutes.
Matthias was, in five minutes, able to order his own ice-cream cone. He had three scoops of rocky-road, topped with caramel, and was enjoying it when Risa arrived. He smiled, waving to her.
Risa sighed, and waved back. She guessed by now that Matth hadn't chosen the smart way to go about things--avoiding sugar. Ah well. She'd have fun. She ordered two scoops of vanilla with chocolate sauce. She went to stand next to Matth. "Race you to the swings?" She asked.
Matthias grinned, standing up. "Suresure!" he said, blurring the words together. He took a bite of his icecream, then dashed off towards the swings, laughing and giggling like a little kid.
This time, Risa was ready, and dashed off after him. She reached the swing, and after taking a bite of her ice cream sat and started to pump her legs.
The fae didn't seem to notice that several teenage boys were watching her.
Matthias sat in the swing next to her, happily eating his ice cream as he rocked back and forth. He blinked, looking over at the teenage boys. His mood instantly changed, brows furrowing. What were they looking at?
Risa took another bite of her ice cream. "Bet I can go higher than you, Matth." She challenged him.
The boys had begun to argue amongst themselves. The words 'Date, cute girl, me first' drifted towards the two fae. Though Risa seemed happily oblivious.
Matthias heard. "Okay, Risa." he said, smiling. He then leaned over, kissing her. That'd show those stupid boys. They were not gonna get his Risa. He sat back and started swinging, grinning.
One of the boys seemed to be the leader of the group. He flashed a smirk in Matth's direction, and started muttering to his buddy. The other boy gave an identical smirk, and nodded. "Yeah, he's not good enough for her." One of them said. "Too femme." Another commented.
Matthias frowned, and threw his head at the one who called him femme. He then grinned at the boys, flashing his long fangs, almost daring them to say something. They did not want to mess with him, especially since he'd had sugar.
One of the boys hadn't noticed the smile, or he probably would have stayed silent. "Let's show her what real men are like." He said. The other boys shook their heads frantically at him, but he ignored them and started to head towards Risa.
Matthias grinned, hopping off his swing. "So, the little man thinks he's tough enough, eh?" he said, snapping his neck. The grin on his face went from easy-going to rather sinister. This would prove to be interesting. He flexed his fingers, his nails looking sharper than they had before.
Risa noticed, and paused in her swinging to watch. Normally, she would have gone to stop something like this, but...This one was about her, and that made it interesting.
Matthias smirked, slipping into a predatorial crouch. "Little mortal, if you value your life, you will go back to your little playmates." he said, the warmth leaking out of his tone.
The teenager ran back to his friends, and stared at Matth with wide eyes. He'd never met someone so frightening. (He'd obviously never met a fae before).
Risa jumped off her swing, and went to Matth's side. "They're only children, Matth. They can't help it--right now their hormones are almost as bad as our own." She grinned, and shrugged. "I won, by the way."
Matthias blinked. "Our hormones are not that bad." he said, chuckling. "And I didn't hurt them, did I? I let them leave uninjured." He smiled.
Risa just shook her head, chuckling. "You've no idea." She muttered, before looking to the slide. "Race you!" She said, dashing towards it.
Matthias grinned, racing after her. "I will beat you this time!" he said, laughing. He pushed himself, running as fast as his legs would carry him.
Risa slowed down, so he could beat her. It wasn't that she didn't want to win--it was that she didn't feel it was right to beat someone who'd already been beaten.
Matth noticed her slowing down....was she letting him win? No she was not! He slowed down as well, smiling innocently at her.
Risa sped up slightly, just enough so he wouldn't think she was letting him win. That was probably why he'd slowed down too--and it wouldn't do to have two fae determined to lose.
Matthias sped up as well, aiming to win once more! He leapt and bound his way to the slide without holding back.
Risa grinned, victory! She'd won the losing contest, and was rather proud of herself for it. "Well, are you going to go down or what?" She asked, speeding up so she was at his side. "Go on."
Matthias shook his head. "Nah, you go on. I do not care much for slides." The reminded him too much of the ramps commonly found at a slaughter house.
Risa shook her head at him. "Nah. Let's do something else." The fae spotted a merry-go-round, looked to Matth and grinned. "You get dizzy easily?" She asked.
Matthias smiled. "Not at all, Risa." he said, grinning. "Though, I understand if you do. We can spin a bit slower." Oooh, was that a challenge?
Risa grinned at the challenge. "You won't get me dizzy, even if we spin like a helicopter all the way to Mars." She responded. Psh, her dizzy? After practically raising an elf like Thali? As if.
Matthias grinned. "We shall see about that, then, young one." he said, chuckling as he headed towards the merry-go-round. Oh, there was no way he was going to lose this.
Risa shook her head, and dashed off towards the merry go round. She sat in the middle of it, holding onto one of the bars. "Ready when you are, Matth!"
Matthias grinned, grabbing one of the bars before starting to run, dragging it along as it started to spin. He'd get it going, then jump onto it.
Risa leaned back, and looked at the sky. There was no way she'd get dizzy. Nope, not Risa. "You think you can spin it faster?" She asked.
Matthias grinned. "Of course!" he said, starting to run faster. The metal disc groaned its complaint at the speed, but he paid it no heed.
"That's fast enough. We don't want it breaking." Risa said, having noticed the noise the merry-go-round was making. "Get on already."
Matthias hopped onto the merry-go round, clinging to the metal bars. "You dizzy yet?" he asked, his tone teasing.
"Not yet." Risa replied in the same tone. "How about you? Running in circles must have made you dizzy." She grinned. "Oh, right. Don't call me young one. I'm only around two hundred fifty years younger than you are, if you're as old as I think you are."
Matthias grinned. "Oh, no, I'm not dizzy at all." he said, chuckling. "I'm just fine." He then grinned. "Oh? And how old do you think I am?" he said, looking too amused.
Risa pretended to think about it. "Well, you look like you're in your twenties, that means you're around... Nine hundred give or take a few years. Probably around nine hundred twenty, come to think of it."
Matthias smiled, not confirming whether she was right or not. Which either meant she was close to the mark, or no where near it. "Is that what you think?" he asked, chuckling before moving along to his next question. "Dizzy yet?" he asked, smiling.
Risa grinned at him, guessing that she was right, or close to it. She knew he couldn't be much younger, or he would have looked closer to her age. "No, are you? Do you want to stop, is that why you're asking?" She gave a fake sigh. "I suppose if you want to stop..."
Matthias grinned. "I'm not dizzy at all, Risa." he said, his tone the same as it had been. "Just making sure you're alright. Wouldn't want you getting motion sickness."
Risa grinned, and looked over at him. "Raising someone like Thali tends to make you immune to all forms of motion sickness." She said. "You never told me how old you are, Matth."
Matthias smiled. "Does it matter?" he asked, grinning. "Same with raising Stasia." He muttered something along the lines of "damnable gypsy blood".
"It boosts my ego to know that I'm right." Risa said, with a grin. "So you know what it's like." She nodded at him. "I bet Thali's worse though--I'd never met such a hyper active princess--and believe me, I've met several."
Matthias smiled. "You are....close." he said, smiling. He then nodded, then chuckled. "You never dealt with a child her danced through the night hours and dashed away in marketplaces just to laugh at your worry."
*"You're in your thirties then, nine hundred thirty?" She guessed, grinning. "You don't look -that- old though." She paused, and chuckled. "You have no idea. Thali went looking for trouble--and not just fae. I suppose most of that's my fault--the only way I could get her to calm down was by telling her stories."
Matthias chuckled. "I think Stasia was much more of a handful. I swear, that child never sleeps." said the man who STILL got "guess what I just did" calls at four in the morning.
"Stasia ever try to start a war against a kingdom at six in the morning? She could have too--if I hadn't made her go to bed." Risa muttered something about toddlers who never went to sleep, though she was grinning. "She was determined to fight her father. Probably could have won, too. Averi was never very smart."
Matth shook his head. "No. But she did set a fire back when we were in the United States over on Earth. Damn near burned the entire city down, then blamed it on some poor animal." he said, shaking his head.
"Sounds just like you, Matth." Risa said, teasingly. "You seem to have a reckless streak in you, maybe she picked it up from you." She paused, chuckling. "Thali only picked up one bad habit from me--she swears. In fae."
Matthias frowned. "She did not get that from me; when I was first put in charge of her care, she was already like that." he said, shaking his head. He then chuckled, amused.
"Thali was fairly young when I started watching her.. Her parents were never very good to her. Her father kept locking her in a room, and would leave her there for weeks on end." The fae shook her head. "I taught her all I could before she ran away."
"Stasia lived with her human mother and their "tribe", I guess you could call it, for the first ten years of her life." Matthias said, sighing. "Most of her behaviours she learned from traveling along with the caravan." Which actually explained a lot.
Risa nodded in understanding. "Gypsies, right? I've only met Stasia once, really. When she and Vate got us to that restaurant. She seemed nice enough."
Matthias nodded. "Yes, gypsies." he confirmed. "She's nice...just lacks a lot of morals." It was bad when he had more morals then she did. He then chuckled. "Thali seems awfully calm and mature from what I've observed."
Risa sat up at that. She coughed, and seemed to be covering something with it. "Because you're fae." She said, with a grin. "You're fae, and she's fascinated by us. You impress her with your very presence, I would be careful around her for a while. She may develop--well. She's always been loyal to her husband."
Matthias blinked, then chuckled. He wouldn't blame her for falling for perfection. "I'll be carefull, then." he said, sounding way too amused. "Why does she find us so interesting?" he asked, confused.
Risa frowned slightly at his amused tone. "No toying with her either." She said, sounding stern. "I've invested one hundred thirty years in her." She paused, and went on to answer his question. "I blame myself for that." She said, and she did look a little guilty. "I told her stories about the fae, our magic, how we were exiled. It kept her happy, but she wanted more than just stories."
Matthias faked a small pout. "Alright..." he said, sounding disappointed. He then nodded. "Ah...I see." He still didn't see why they were exiled, but then again, he'd never lived there, so technically, he was never exiled.
Risa grinned at his pout. "Okay, maybe a little toying wouldn't hurt. As long as you don't make a snack out of her. I hear elves don't taste very good anyway. Especially royal ones."
Matthias frowned. "I would not feed off her." he said, sounding insulted. Honestly, to think Risa'd say that....
"Good." Risa said, nodding. Not that she had thought he would, she was having fun teasing him. "I hear Sammi's taken a liking to you."
Matthias nodded. "She has." he confirmed, his tone nuetral and subdued. Poor Matth.
Risa frowned slightly, and gave Matth a hug, which was rather difficult when they were spinning. "I love you." She said.
Matthias smiled, hugging her back. "I love you too, Risa." he said smiling softly. "You dizzy yet?"
"Not yet, are you?" Risa asked with a smile. She was glad he was cheering up, she hadn't liked the sulky side of him.
Matthias smirked. "Of course not. I told you I would not get dizzy." he said, chuckling.
"Let's get off then." Risa said, looking to the sky again. "I'll race you to---what is that thing?" She stared at it a moment. It was a child. A strikingly familar child. Her eyes widened, and she hopped off the merry-go-round.
Matthias blinked. "Risa?" he asked, confused at her sudden change in subject. He hopped off as well, looking to the child. Who in the world was that?
Risa rushed over to the toddler, and picked him up. "Where've you been?" She asked. Of course, the child didn't anwser--he was too busy looking at Matthias in horror.
Matthias blinked, walking over and standing next to Risa. "What is wrong, little one?" he asked, concerned for the little boy.
Davian clung to Risa, ocassionally giving the dark haired fae frightened looks. "Well.. introduction's now or never. Matth, this is Davi, Prince Davian of Lynwood, I should say I suppose--now Thali'll be able to come to her senses."
Matthias nodded. "Ah, I see.....you have been through a lot from what I've been able to gather, little Davian. I am glad to see that you are okay." he said, patting the little boy on the head.
Davian gave Matthias another frightened look, before sniffling. Was the mean fae going to hurt him? Was he mad that he'd escaped?
Risa looked from the toddler to Matth. "Well. I think we better get him to Thali, before whoever he was with comes back."
Matthias nodded. "Yes, lets. We wouldn't want him captured again." He glanced around, making sure the coast was clear. Poor little boy seemed so scared...
Risa nodded, and balanced the toddler on her hip. She took Matth's hand with her right. "Let's go. We're not too far from where she lives." She pointed down one of the less populated streets of Barton.
Matthias nodded, following her. He kept his eyes peeled for any sign of the boys captors, silently daring them to try anything. "Are you alright, Davian?" he asked, looking over to the boy.
Davian whimpered and hid his face in Risa's chest. The fae sighed. "Davi, Matth's not going to hurt you." She tried to reassure the toddler--it wasn't working.
Matthias offered a small smile. "Davian, I promise I will not harm you. I am a friend of your sister, Thali." he said, his voice the same soft and gentle tone he used to calm Koloro.
Davian looked up, blinking. "Sissy?" He asked, tilting his head slightly. So much for his fear of fae, Matth had said the magic words. The toddler looked around as if Matth was hiding Thali somewhere. "Wan Sissy."
Matthias smiled lightly. "We are taking you to her now. I am sure she will be glad to see you." he said, smiling lightly.
Davi gave Matth a small smile, before reaching for him. Risa just shook her head. "The fae didn't hurt him." She said, sounding surprised. "I mean... he's fine. They didn't break the truce."
Matthias smiled, gently taking the little elf. "That is good." he said, nodding as he held the little one close. Why did little kids have to like him; why?
Maybe it was because Matth was so likable. Whatever the case, Davi was quite happily babbling to him in elvish.
"He says you're pretty." Risa said with a giggle. "I quite agree with him, actually."
Matthias chuckled. Him, pretty? ....okay, so he was, but still. He gently ruffled the little one's hair, trying to understand him as he spoke. He caught bits and pieces, but...not enough to decipher what he was saying.
Davian smiled, and babbled. His eyes were sparkling, uh-oh. He had the same look Thali did before she was about to cause trouble. The toddler took a fist full of Matth's hair.
"Let's get him to Thali." Risa said quickly, not bothering to translate this time.
Matthias nodded, picking up his pace. "Risa, what did he say?" he asked, smiling at her. Curse the stupid language barrier!
Risa flushed, and looked at Matth. "Well.. You know what toddlers are like. Most of what they say is gibberish..." She paused, and sighed. "Alright. He's claimed you as his pet. Don't be mad at him, Matth. He's a baby.. He doesn't know what he's saying."
Matthias blinked. Him, a pet? He snickered, trying not to laugh out loud. The little one thought he could keep him as a pet? What a laughable notion. "Isn't that cute...." he commented, thouroughly entertained.
Davian looked up at Matth and babbled, tugging lightly on the fistful of hair he'd claimed.
"Before you ask, he said he loves you." Risa said, not enjoying her role as translator. She continued to lead them down the street, before stopping in front of a fancy looking house.
Matthias smiled lightly, stopping along side rise. He gently took his hair out of the little one's grip; didn't need it getting tugged out, now did he? "Is this Thali's home?" he asked, curious.
Risa grinned, and looked to Matth. "No, it's just a house I like to look at on the way there." She said, sounding sarcastic. "Of course it is." She walked up the side walk and knocked on the door.
"Sissy." Davian said, falling back into english. He didn't speak it well, and prefered elvish better. "Sissy sissy sissy." He reached for the door.
But it wasn't Thali who opened the door. It was Josh. The dark skinned boy was dressed in jean shorts and a t-shirt, and positively stared when he saw Matth and Risa. His eyes grew to the size of saucers as he saw Davi. "Davi!" He said, a smile spreading across his face. "You found him!"
Matthias rolled his eyes, walking up the sidewalk. Matth then nodded. "We did." he said, smiling. "And look; the little one is uninjured as well." He offered the little boy to the child, glad to reunite him with his family.
Joshua took Davian, and hugged the little elf. "I'll go get Mom." He said, before disappearing into the hall. "Mom!" The boy called. "Risa and Matth are here!"
Josh appeared in the doorway again. "She's coming." He told them. He seemed to be stating the obvious, as a certain princess had dashed out of the kitchen and was right behind him.
"Hi Risa, hi Matth." She said, breathlessly. Then she spotted Davi, and fell silent. She snatched the toddler from her son's arms and hugged him. At first, Davi returned the hug quite happily--but then he started protesting in elvish.
Matthias smiled, chuckling. "Hello, Thali." he greeted, bowing his head politely. Well, now that Davian was safe at home, they could leave now, right?
Thali smiled, and set Davian down. She promptly hugged Matth. "Thank you for finding him." She said, before doing the same to Risa.
They would have been able to leave, if a certain toddler hadn't come out of her bedroom at that very moment. She was clutching her 'Kitty' doll by the arm. "Kitty!" She cried, delighted. "Kitty Kitty! I gots two Kitties!"
Matthias patted Thali. "It is not a problem." he said, offering a small smile. The dark-haired fae looked down, smiling at Sammi. "Oh, you do, do you?" he said, chuckling.
Sammi held up her Kitty doll, smiling. "Two Kitties, see?" She said, hugging the real one around the leg.
Thali shook her head at her daughter. "It was the only way to stop her from screaming." She explained, looking to Matth and flushing. "She seems to really like you, Matth."
Matthias patted Sammi on the head. "Ah, I see." he said, chuckling. He then nodded at Thali's words; why him? "I've noticed." he said, shaking his head.
"Up, Kitty?" Sammi asked, raising her arms. Then she became more insistant. "Up up Kitty?"
Thali grinned at Matthias, before shaking her head. "She's inherited my fascination of fae." She said.
"Obsession, you mean." Ben had come into the hallway, the man was carrying a sleeping Reiya, her head leaning against his shoulder.
"It's not an obsession." Thali protested.
"It is." Ben and Risa said in unison.
Matthias picked the toddler up, balancing her on his hip. "I have to agree with them....obsession is a better word for it." he said, chuckling in amusement. He looked to Sammi, smiling lightly. "How are you?"
Thali frowned slightly. "It's not an obsession." She protested. "It's a perfectly healthy interest--and if I wasn't interested, I wouldn't have been able to convince my father that fae aren't all evil." She gave Risa a challenging look.
"Obsessions can be useful." Risa said with a shrug.
Sammi smiled, and looked up at him. "Good, how ooo Kitty?" She asked. "We play Kitty? Tag?"
Matthias smiled. "I am doing quite well, thank you." he said. He then shook his head. "I would love to, but Kitty cannot stay too long. I am sorry."
Sammi frowned slightly, and sniffled. She rubbed her eyes. "Wan Kitty stay." She said, her tone whiny. "Wan Kitty stay!"
Ben, sensing danger (like every good father could), retreated and went into the living room. Thali on the other hand, pushed Davian into the living room, before looking to Matth and Risa. "Thank you for bringing Davi home--but you better go."
Matthias hugged Sammi. "I know, I know. But I can't." he said, trying to prevent a tantrum. "Kitty is busy today; perhaps I can visit later, hm?" He sat Sammi down, ruffling the little one's hair.
Sammi brightened at the promise of seeing Matth again. "Kay, Kitty. Come soon, pwomise?" She looked up at him, tilting her her head.
Matthias smiled lightly. "I promise." he said, nodding. "Be a good girl for your parentds, okay?" he said, patting the little halfling on the head.
Sammi smiled, and toddled off into the living room, chanting something about 'Davi'. Thali shook her head, and looked to Risa. "You two have fun, alright?"
Matthias smiled lightly, standing back up and stretching a bit. "I am sure we will have quite a bit of fun." he said, nodding and smiling.
Thali gave a knowing smile, and pushed the two fae out of her house. "Go on then. Go have fun. And Risa, make sure you're not the one to propose!"
At this, Risa only blushed.
Matthias blinked. "Wait, what?" He said, looking at the elf, confused. What....what was she talking about?
