Gaby followed Vahn, though she wasn't quite sure what he was looking for or what he thought was in that direction.

"Huh?" opaj watched Vahn take off for a moment before following. "What is it?" Couldn't be alive, could it? Maybe an energy being, something opaj couldn't sense.
What awaited Vahn was a big, glowing... rock. A rock on a pedestal. They were centered in the upper levels of the Palace, and in the hottest room in the city, the heat coming off the thing enough to make you sweat--that is, enough to make you sweat were it not for the Unity Field.
"Chie..." opaj drew Utoh as they entered the room, holding the blade before him to defray the heat. It didn't hurt, but it sure was uncomfortable.

He blinked twice, stopping in his tracks and staring ahead of himself. "It's a rock." No doubt about it...this is what was... "Just a rock." The disappointment in his voice was apparent, even as he walked forward a bit, leaning in to inspect the piece of earth. Even if the Unity Field had not been in place, he wouldn't have experienced any discomfort from the heat; if anything, it was most welcome, even at the low levels the Field was allowing to be admitted. "Considering the climate around here... you think this is what they use...as a source of heat?" Or maybe... it.. He stared around the room, remembering how the Field engulfed the dome.

Gaby stared at the rock, contemplating whether that was really what it was, or if there was something special about this rock. Was it really a rock at all?
Suddenly, a question popped into her mind. "What do you think it's worth?" Yet suddenly, she wished she hadn't said that. She did not know if spirits existed in other elements or things other than water. If, per chance, there were spirits in this rock, which would prdinarily not make sense to Gaby, because rocks could not move or change shape, then it would be wrong to sell the rock for any amount of money.

opaj glanced sidelong at Vahn, a knowing grin spreading across his face. "You think?" Could this be the heart of the Unity Field? This big rock, large enough to crush any of them, be the thing that's making them invincible?
He crossed his arms over his chest and grinned. "If this is what I think it is... It's priceless!"

"Priceless or not... how the hell did they get this in here... because I'm not sure how we're going to get it out." Something like this... it can actually...just might be compatible with the ship GUARDIAN has.He raised his left hand towards the sphere, not exactly touching it, but just sorta letting it drift along the invisible energy trails it was giving off. A power source..."We should try and get this back to the ship...either way." His right eye clouded over with thought.

If this was what was making them invincible, was it possible that it could work even outside of the palace? Gaby thought, then, not of the value of the rock, but "Maybe we could keep it on the ship."

"Well, I hate to drag out the big guns this early, but this right here might be enough to keep us in gold the rest of our lives." opaj popped his back and drew his other sword. Turning towards the doorway, he said, "Just need to widen a the door a good four feet, yeah? I bet we could bust through the rest if we get enough momentum. Well, here goes."
Taking a wide stance, he raised the weapons over his head, touching the tips together. "Nitoryuu...."
It had been a while since he resorted to a chanting technique, but this situation warranted it.
"Tsuwa...."
His arms tensed, and he focused on channeling his blood into the task.
"UZU!"
With a sudden burst of speed, he charged the door, swinging the swords down as one...
...and tripping over himself, landing face-first on the floor.
"Wuh...?" He rolled over, pulling his weapons out of the way. "That wasn't... right..." He screwed his eyes shut. Why couldn't he use his--
"Friggin' Unity Field." He was invulnerable. That meant he couldn't sacrifice any blood to fuel his high-tier attacks.

"What...uh, happened?" He was staring towards the blond swordsman, wondering if he had meant to trip or not... He had never really seen the man in combat after all. "At any rate...you want the door out of the way right?" He removed the shield, baring his right arm out to the side. "Stand back, both of you..." Gritting his teeth for the eventual pain, he shot the arm forward-- even as the bracelet around his right wrist seemed to suddenly explode into expanding tendrils of metal, covering the flesh. The Hand of Efreet was forming, and he could feel--- nothing. "?!" He looked to his arm, expecting the dulled jabbing sensation of over a thousand pinpricks, as the gauntlet merged with his flesh-- but he truly felt nothing. "Dammit..." The Field...so that's what he meant. The gauntlet couldn't access the source of power it used to fuel itself; his blood. He couldn't be harmed within the Field...how could he have forgotten already...which meant... "Well, that's unfortunate." He reached for the hilt of his elven longsword with his left hand instead now. "I don't suppose you could do something about that." He thumbed towards the door, and looked to the female.

"That's not good," Gaby said, stating the obvious. She hesitsted for a minute, thinking of something she could do to widen the doorway.
She uncorked the barrell and gathered a larger amount of water than she had needed for sawing through the bolt holding the statue in place. She once again closed her eyes and directed the water over to the wall two feet away from the door. She figured she could widen the door two feet on each side if she sawed around it the same way she did before. The water sliced into the wall, and after a few minutes had sawed through the wall all the way around the door. When the water finally sawed all the way to the floor on the other side, the door and the walls around it, with nothing to hold them up, fell backwards with a loud thump. In her shock, Gaby opened her eyes, and the water she was controlling dropped to the ground.
"I guess that takes care of that," she said. "Now how are we going to carry the rock out of here?"

Another deep breath, and opaj climbed to his feet. Sheathing his twin blades, he cracked his neck. "I guess... well, I could try giving it a good push, get the ball rolling, then we can keep its momentum going and smash it through the other walls. Looks heavy enough, right?"
opaj stepped up to the other side of the boulder, spat in his hands, and rubbed them together. "Ready when you are!"

"But won't it..." Gaby was at first afraid that if she placed her hands on the rock in order to push it, she would get burned. However, she realized that even if the rock would ordinarily burn someone who touched it, the unity field would be in effect as long as they had the rock with them. She walked over beside Opaj and placed her hands on the rock.

Arturo moves up the stairways into the Upper Reaches with a shaking hand on his gun. Looking at the gun and remembering where he is he holsters it. It won't do him any good here
"They're a ways up" he says to his companion. "Remember we can't hurt them here. We'll have to.....push them out a window to win."
"Or we could try talking to them. They sound strong to me....."

Grinning in unison, he got on the other side of the rock, and rested both hands against it. "Well, I almost hope Dzan doesn't get hit with this." He shoved hard, timing it with Opaj' push, even as he grunted and exerted all the upper body strength he had in him. " Almost." Cue Indiana Jones.

AFK now. Have to go to work. Be back in 6 hours. Vahn is under the handling of Opaj if need be.
