The design did show. Flaring brightly in white, and to be outlined in black, on the back of his neck. Pale green eyes shifted to Protean, the boy nodding. Stepping forward, he waited. It was one of the reasons Damien figured that he''d gotten the powers of Teranika. Only the Goddess, or in this case God, could carry the marking. He never had it, until her death. Upon Grey releasing her last breath, it had appeared.

"Let''s get this over with.."

The yougn man was impatient, his hands clentching a sign of this. His brow was creased also, signaling worry. A lot counted on this, Haku depending on getting answers.

"Alright. Once we open the door the rest is up to you, my boy. But don't worry. Archon will take care of you.", said Protean reassuringly. Along with Haku's symbol, the pentagram on the werewolf's hands also flared brightly, reacting to the dormant energies of what lay behind this wall. This door.

Protean was the first to step forward, placing his hand on the wall's design. It flared brightly as well with a white light that cast away the darkness of the room. Now Protean only waited for Haku to show his power and open the door with him.

Nodidng, Damien stepped forward and placed his hand on the wall close to Protean. It flared again, the door opening. Just as the memories he'd recieved showed. Taking a deep breath, he let his hand fall away to look at the one he still considered a father. Stepping forward, one arm wrapped briefly around a shoulder. Haku was no longer one to show affection.

"Thank you. For everything."

This was refering back to the very being of their time together. Without another word, he entered the ruins. Left hand lifting, it tugged the key from under his shirt. The item Grey had gotten hung on a chain, Damien's fingers curling around it. As the boy disappeared from sight, his presence faded, before disappearing entirely.

As the door closed and Haku vanished from sight, only a small smile remained on Protean's face. One that a father often gave to his son. "Good luck, Haku. May find what you're looking for." With that, Protean turned and headed back through the darkness and to the world of light. Back to his treehouse.

He didn't know how long Haku would stay within the ruins of the Pantheon, the realm of the Old Gods. But, if he was anything like his mother, he could now take care of himself. Protean knew he didn't have to worry, but he soon found out that he did anyway. It was only natural.

Out of the ruins, Damien exited. The wolves of the cave lifted their head to watch him pass, with no sign of threat. He'd come through here the other day with Protean, signalling him as a friend. Mild curiosity was they only thing from them. As soon as he stepped back out into the sun light, eyes squinting behind the think frames of his glasses. He hadn't seen sunlight in a few hours.

"Confusing b*****d.."

The boy mumbled, looking a bit fusterated. He had indeed spoken to the old sage, but the man was just full of riddles. Each time he responded, all he did was stir up more questions. Damien had gotten nothing but a riddle, aobut the key hanging around his neck, and a promise for more answers in the future.

A day and a night had passed since Damien had left the ruins. Protean was now standing out on the deck of his tree house once again, pondering over what the young lad had told him of his talk with the wise sage, Archon. Archon was possibly the wisest one on this entire plane of existence. And it was for that reason that Haku had left with only more questions probably.

But the the werewolf and Haku now knew that something major had to do with the Teranika's key. The artifact that Grey had retrieved at the same time Protean recieved his, Fenrir's gauntlet. It had always puzzled Protean why Grey had never been able to find a use for that key. After all, what good was a key that didn't unlike anything? Or perhaps the key served a different purpose... Protean didn't have the answers though. Neither did Haku. So that left them both feeling rather stumped.

A cool breeze blew over the werewolf's face as he watched the moon rise. It was a night like so many others he had seen. Yet, there was something amiss about it as well. Like a great tension was nearly choking the air around him. He had felt this feeling before. It always happened during his time at the Haven, and normally before something big was close to happening. It made the fur on his tail stand on end.

Through the dense trees that made up the forest, two figures were stumbling around, trying not to fall and trip over any of the protruding roots. One, a lovely vixenish-looking woman, and the other, a small boy who resembled the woman greatly, both of kitsune descent. They both had bright aqua hair, the woman's reaching to her lower back, and the boy's only slightly shaggy and falling in front of his eyes.

The woman, whose name was Miyuki, had been told that she could find a werewolf named Protean here. He was very special to her, and she wanted her son to meet him. So, following the scent of the wolf, as well as the directions she had been given, she headed onward, searching for her companion.

Like a stone gargoyle of some great cathedral, Protean was crouching on the railing of one of his tree house's balconies. The scene was a peaceful one. Not even fifty feet away from the great tree, the wolves' cave was put into the side of a mountain, a waterfall cascading into a large pool right beside it. Wolves sat, played, and watched all around near the entrance of their cave. Protean was watching two of the more frisky pups have a childish romp and tumble, a light smile on his face. That was until a pair of scents caught his attention. One beloned to Miyuki, someone who Protean was growing very fond of as of late. The other he could've sworn he had never smelled before, yet it was so much like her's. Perhaps, a child... Yeah, thats gotta be it. With the realization, Protean couldn't stifle a little chuckle at the thought. Well, it wasn't the first time he had to impress a potential mate's child.

Turning his head to the side, Protean was just in time to see Miyuki and her son emerge from the woods, confirming his wonderings of the child. He had blue hair just like her's, and also had many other common traits. The wolves also took notice of this. Two of the larger males began to grow protective and stood up as Miyuki and Kaito drew closer, one of them growling slightly. However, a mental command and a harsh look from Protean was enough to quiet him down, though grudgingly. They were just wary of outsiders. However, that didn't stop three of the pups from running over to them, barking playfully and sniffing them relentlessly.

The werewolf openly laughed at the sight, then leapt from his perch to the base of the great tree. He landed gracefully on all fours, then rose to walk to the pair and pups, to get them away from the kitsunes and to greet them at the same time. He hadn't been expecting Miyuki to come here, especially not with a child of her own. He felt no ill will at this, however. When he had met Grey so long ago, she had a child of her own as well. It was something he was used to by now.

As Miyuki and Kaito entered a clearing, she looked around to see wolves. Many wolves. As two of them started to wander close to them, her grip on Kaito tightened, unsure if they were friendly or not. However, they instantly backed off, and she wasn't sure why until she saw Protean nearby. Smiling at him, she gave him a faint wave, before noticing something else as well.

A few of the pups had bounded over to where they were. Kaito had been afraid of the bigger wolves, but the small pups were just too cute for him to be scared of. Nipping at his mother's wrist, he pointed to them and shook in her arms. "Can I play with them, mommy?" he asked excitedly. Knowing that Protean wouldn't allow harm to come to him, she nodded and set him down in the dirt, where he immediately skittered off to the pups nearby.

Protean could only smile as Kaito went off to play, the pups following suit and panting madly behind him. The two wolves had settled down now, yet kept a close eye the four of them. In their minds as well as Protean's, the pack came before all else and every member right down the old and weak was protected fiercely. But with realizing there was no threat present, the wolves had returned to normal. Although a few were watching Miyuki and Kaito rather curiously.

Once Protean reached Miyuki, a warm smile lit up his face as he went to stand at her side, his arm going around the kitsune's waist and his eyes watching Kaito play. His grip offered an affectionate squeeze as well when he leaned and nuzzled her neck. "You have a strong son there. You must be proud."

As Protean came over to her side, Miyuki leaned into him, also wrapping an arm around his waist. A smile was apparent on her face as she watched her son play with the wolf cubs. "His name is Kaito. He's such a wonderful child, he really is!" she stated, glancing up at Protean, happy that he was being so kind about the situation. She had been slightly worried as to how he would react to Kaito.

Meanwhile, the little kitsune boy was having the time of his life. As a pup would pounce on him, he would roll around in the dirt a bit with it before being pounced on by another. His laughter echoed through the forest, as he would return the pouncing onto one of them. It was just too much fun for him.

Protean gave one last glance to the kitsune boy and the pups before he began to guide Miyuki to the base of the great tree. His arm was around her waist the entire time, as well as a small grin on his face. Even his tail was wagging slightly. "Kaito and the pups will be watched closely, foxy. In time, the wolves will come to regard you both as one of the pack. And the way things are going, I think they already do."

Once they were at the base of the huge tree, Protean stood behind Miyuki and wrapped both of his arms around her, his chin resting on her shoulder as he watched Kaito and the pups. The moonlight came down in filtered rays through the great tree's leaves, casting a mystical air about the area.

Protean knew that she was probably a little worried on how he would react to Kaito. It was only reasonable, since not many would react to it favorably. Still, he saw no reason why he couldn't accept them into his life. So the werewolf placed a small kiss upon the kitsune's cheek, then a deeper one upon her lips after he turned her face to his. When he pulled away, he looked deep into her eyes and smiled. "You needn't have worried about him. I think he and I will get along quite well."

Miyuki kissed him back, her hand sliding to his neck and bringing him closer to her. As he pulled away, she did the same, smiling up at him serenely. "That's good to hear. I was't exactly sure how you would react to my little boy," she admitted shyly, her eyes darting back over to where her son was. He was the light of her life, and she loved him dearly. She couldn't imagine life without him at this point.

As if sensing her stare, Kaito looked up from his little game and saw his mother. He waved to her happily, before returning back to the pups that were currently wrestling with him. She let out a soft laugh, leaning her whole body into Protean's. She just felt so safe and relaxed here. It was such a nice feeling.

After nuzzling her cheek again, Protean turned to watch Kaito and the pups. At that moment, a sudden thought occured to him. As much as he liked and cared for Miyuki, he didn't really know that much about her. Perhaps, now would be a good time to fix that.

Slowly, the werewolf took a seat at the base of the tree and brought Miyuki down with him, taking a seat in his lap and Protean repositioning to ensure comfort for both. One hand was idly scratching Miyuki's back while he continued to watch Kaito and the pups. "Hmm... What's your home like, foxy? To produce someone like you and Kaito, it must be quite a place."

As Miyuki was seated in Protean's lap, a look of sorrow filled her eyes. She hadn't really shared her past with anyone, and although she was close to Protean, she wasn't sure if she was ready to share this story just yet. "I... Well, we really don't have a specific home. I mean, I grew up wandering the streets..." she said placidly, glancing back at her son who was now joyously romping with his new pup friends.

She hoped that he wouldn't push the subject, because she just didn't know what to say. And she didn't know how he would take it if she told him the truth.
