About a few miles away from the Club Orion, there is a gigantic forest full of tall pine trees. It is a place where sunlight cannot fully penetrate to the floor. A place where the shadows seem to move of their own will and possess a sinister intelligence. It is called the Darkwood.

Many centuries ago, the Darkwood was once a verdant field that was full of life. But on a fateful day when 999 samurai lost their lives, it became the dark forest that it is now. Those souls continue to haunt these hallowed ground, reliving their battles over and over, only this time against the outsiders that would dare defile their resting place. Many creatures other than spirits also make their home here. Being such as werewolves, dark fey, willowisps, and other forest spirits live here, attracted to the near palpable aura of ghosts and the dark feeling they bring. It is a fearsome, yet secure and quiet place.

Over the course of time, the forest has seemed to keep growing. The trees are now higher than they've ever been, and more natural and supernatural presences live among its shelter.

*Appears laying on a tree branch directly above Yo-ko.* Yes. I do, too. There's just something about a Forest of Shadows, isn't there? *Looks around from his location, searching for any sign of an arena or training facility.* This would be an ideal place for me to train. It's very strong with Shadow Energy.

So far the night had been a quiet one. The stars were out and the waning moon was just starting to rise over the mountains. A beautiful sight for a beautifully peaceful night. Protean was enjoying some time alone at his home, his territory in what he called the Darkwood.

The werewolf's territory wasn't large by any means, but it was enough. His favorite part of it was close to a mountain-side cave where a waterfall fell nearby. Close to that was a very large tree where he called home. Dwelling the cave, was a small pack of wolves. His brethren and his family for as long as he could remember now. Sadly, his memory of his human days was beginning to slip away into the void of nothingness. Such was the passage of time, this Protean knew.

There was a time when the werewolf would've lived in that cave along with the other wolves. He did so for many years; sharing their warmth in the winters, hunting with them, even becoming an Alpha whenever the next canidate was too young yet. However, those times had long passed and Protean had begun to desire for a house.

So he built one. It lay nestled in the large tree near the cave, like something out of Robinson Cruesoe or Swiss Family Robinson. It was a huge and elaborate tree house. Or a collection of four connected by rope ladders and bridges, to be more accurate. It was a long project, but immortality was not something that one couldn't use. He literally had all the time in the world, so by trial and error he managed to complete this masterpiece.

Right now, the werewolf was laying in a large hammock. It was located on a deck connected to one of the upper rooms, facing the waterfall and wolves' cave below. From here, Protean could survey all the happenings of the pack as well as take in the sights of the night sky. He loved it here. It was almost as good as his last home, and in some ways better.

The werewolf's eyes closed as a light wind blew by and ruffled his hair and drooping tail. With it came the scents of pine and rain, even the smell of a far off meadow. That smell reminded him of Miyuki.

That thought made a sleepy smile come over his face as Protean lay in the hammock, swinging gently from side to side. Think she would like it here... In many ways, she reminded the werewolf of his last mate. Yet, she had a wonderful uniqueness that could be found nowhere else.

Foot steps fell silent against teh uneven ground, despite the scattered leaves and twings that decorated it. A pale figure traveled along swiftly, seeming intent on his destination. Barely a glance was spared in any direction, pale green eyes he'd gotten from his mother locked forward. It was somewhere he hadn't been in years. His memories of the place were vague, the last time the young male once known as Haku had been there was shortly after his mother's death.

"Should be around here.."

The boy muttered, a growl of irritation escaping. A momenn later the cave and waterfall came into view as he slipped past the last of the trees. Surprise flashed across his face, before it faded once more. Damien hadn't been expecting a house. His head moved back, lips parting as he breathed in. The wind was blowing against his back, making it impossible to pick up a scent of anything before him.

Swearing under his breath, Damien continued forward with a bit more caution.

Suddenly, the werewolf jolted upright in his hammock. A strange, yet very oddly familiar scent came over the breeze. It was strong so it was very nearby. A growl parted Protean's lips at the idea of an unbidden intruder. It had the scent of lykan about it. Normally, whenever a werewolf came into another's, it only meant that it wanted what didn't belong to it. In other words, Protean's territory. Yet, this werewolf scent was tinged with something that Protean couldn't quite recognize.

Leaving his hammock and perching on his railing like some kind of gargoyle, golden eye's narrowed and scanned the immediate area for the intruder. The werewolf found it in the form of a young man who seemed intent on intruding further. This Protean didn't like one bit. He had worked too hard and too long on this place to risk losing it now.

With bones cracking and fur sprouting, Protean changed and leapt from the railing, his silohette casting a shadow over the moonlight as he fell back to earth. With a loud thud some 30 feet in front of the young man, Protean stood to his full height of 8 feet, looking to be every bit as pissed off as he felt. His fangs were bared and his claws were unsheathed, his voice coming out in a monstrous growl. "Leave this place before I make you, interloper. I'll not have a contest for something that you shall never win."

Familar, very familar. The scent reminded him of one he used to know, as a child. Though, there was no chance he could be him. Resisting to release the growl in the back of his throat, Damien looked up to meet the golden eyes of the in his past. A lycanthrope, same as him. Though, most likely by different means. Not many were born into the world like he was.

"I have all rights to be here."

The younger creature spoke, voice having the same tone his mother used to posses. When he was little, he had heard it often enough, though by that time she had changed enough to lose the sharp edge. After her death, Damien had took the same additude. The only home being destoryed, along with his mother being killed was more then he could take.

Body tensing, the boy in comparison readied himself to shift. His left hand rose, pulling off his glasses and tossing them to the side. He was a peace keeper, prefering it then fighting. But battle was in his blood, from both of what he was. Lycanthrope from his mother, and Shadow Demon from his father. Damien was bound to fighting. A moment later, he began. The sound of cracking bones echoed through the trees, soon a werewolf not much smaller stood where he was.

"Oh really now? You see that?", growled Protean, pointing to the wolves and the tree house behind him. "I built that. This area is mine. Now, I suggest you leave. Now." Protean was starting to get real ticked at his newcomer. Which only grew as he witnessed the change come over him as well, into a smaller werewolf with pitch black fur and green eyes. So he wanted a fight, did he? Well in a few moments, Protean intended to send him packing with his tail between his legs. Literally.

"I won't hold back, young one.", said the werewolf, muscles tensing and his knuckles cracking. A low and thundering growl was evident as well, making the wolves near the cave retreat into its shelter. A few did watch the action from the entrace though, their eyes trained on the intruder with a bitter vengeance.

"You don't understand wolf. My orgins are here."

The last words came out as a growl from the mussle. Being in this form, made human speeh difficult, but not impossible. Damien just wanted through, hoping for answers. Nostrials flared, breath leaving him quickly before he chest rose as he sucked in more. The air was cleaner here thenm the city, and much nicer.

"I do not wish to fight, but I will go into that cave."

The were just under eight feet lowered his body slighty, arms by his sides. Palms facing up, his fingers clurled in to make fists. Elbows bending, Damien prepared himself. Normally he would not change this fast, but he knew his kind. They were territorial, and if he attacked anyways, he would not have enough time to shift.

Eyes glowing, his lips pulled back in a warning. Damien was near in power as the other wolf, purely from his mother's and father's origins. It helped that he'd spent most of his short life training to fight.

Protean couldn't help but smirk at the younger one's comment. "You don't know anything about this place, kid. You don't have a god damn clue." With that said, Protean was through with words. He gave him the chance to back down and leave, but he still persisted on intruding. Intruding on sacred ground no less, at least it was to Protean and the ancient Druids of long past. This was a place that led to where Old Gods used to reign. He wasn't about to let some stranger defile it with his presence.

With a great roar, Protean's fist suddenly became encased in blazing white SoulFire, cool to the touch yet strong enough to scorch the taint off one's soul and damage the body as well. Suddenly, the werewolf sent both fists slamming into the ground before him. From the juncture of earth and fist, a roaring burst of earthbound Soulfire about the size of a car sped forward, its target the younger werewolf.

Immediately afterwards and without waiting to see if his attack hit or not, Protean then leapt high into the air over his enemy, his fists still blazing with white flames. From up there, he took in a deep breath and unleashed a Sonic Howl of massive proportions. The soundwaves traveled in a cone and spread farther out as they traveled, meaning that they effected the immediate large area around him as well. Around the enemy, the ground began to vibrate and quake under Protean's sonic onslaught, causing it crack and fissure open, causing it to become unsteady as well.

Yet, Protean still couldn't shake the feeling that he met this being someplace before. Long ago in another part of his life. His scent was so familiar, yet he couldn't place it. It was like one he used to know, but changed as time went by. Of course, one idea did pop into his mind. No... It can't be him. He died along with his mother...

After a late night's work. Raleigh decided to take a walk. She found herself noticing the sunlight began to decrease as she continued onto what had seemed to be a forest. She leaned against a tree feeling clossing her eyes quite tiredly. Opening up her eyes she looked around to get familiar with the new surroundings.

And so the fight began. The first move was slow in comparison, easy to dodge. Damien darted to his right side with a single leap. The second would be more difficult to fight against. He moved forward, sliding to a halt on three limbs when he reached where the other lycanthrope had just been. He stayed low to the ground, it trembling and vibrating. Rising much higher would throw him off balance.

Drawing his hands together in front of him, the boy's eyes flamed brightly. Pale green glowed in the shows with a bright light. It was odd, since at his hands dark enegry was gathering in his palms. Teeth clentched, Damien collected engery in his hands, eyes narowing as he focused on The other.

Without a sound, his hands thrusted forward as the beam shot out. Pillar of Darkness was an attack he usually wanted for, but it seemed it would be needed. he wanted to get into the caverns sooner then later. Besides, as powerful as he was, the other was much older and more experienced. His opponant wouild be stronger by default.

Drawing his hands back, Damien cut the engery beam off. Lewft hand falling, he kept his right raised, a ball of dark energy appeared within the clawed fingers. What was odd, was thin trendrals of white rose from the center of his palm to cling to the surface of the black orb. He was mix the powers he'd gotten from his mother with the shadows. He did not release the orb, waiting for a result of his first attack at Protean's back.

Raising both of his SoulFire covered hands, Protean managed to deflect the worst of Damien's attack, although the force of it did push him a bit higher into the air. So this one wasn't just an ordinary lykan. Well, neither was Protean.

As soon as he landed, Protean entered into the Windrunner state and zoomed in on his enemy's scent, being careful to go around the orb the younger one held in his hand. Using the Windrunner allowed the werewolf to heighten his metabolism and unleash more power into his movement, such as gaining much greater speed to the point where no one could see him. An instant later, Protean appeared behind Damien and locked him in a full nelson, then began to attempt to lift him off his feet.

SoulFire still covered Protean's hands, creating an icy chill sensation where they touched the younger werewolf. If Protean chose to, he could scorch Damien's soul. Yet, that scent of his was what made him hold back. So insteadn, Protean merely leaned into his ear and whispered seethingly. "One last chance, squirt. You're going to leave. Alive or dead is your choice."

((Actually, Faye... Its late night now. The sun is long gone.))

Pale eyes widened, body stilling. Before the wind had kept the scent at bay, turning it away from him. Now he remembered it, and all too well. The engery vanished, fading into whisps of pale light to be carried off by the wind. Damien made no move to attack, or get away. Lips pulling back from teeth, he growled one word, a name.

"Protean.."

Memories bubbled up, of a little boy lookig up into the golden eyes of who he had began to call his father. The mate of his deceased mother. The one other person, that could crumble the stony mask and replace it with a smile. Without another moment's hesitation, Damien let his body return to the humaniod state. Slipping out of Protean's arm from the result, the young man turned to look up at him.

A tendril of black returned his glasses to an out stretched hand, befor her replaced them on his face again. Pale eyes were wide, from shock. Seeing the werewolf again that had taken both him and his mother in and cared for them brought a wave of grief.

"My mother's mate.."
