Why indeed would they? "Outward beauty is a passing thing," she beings matter-of-factly. "That is not to say it is not to be considered. But the inner self must be considered." T'Cora considers her own words with a solemn, thoughtful expression. "Darius is lordly and gentle, and I am dignified and poised." She smiled then, swishing her lion's tail contentedly. "We are an excellent match for a random breeding. Why not? It isn't as if I have any other prospects, as neglected as I am by my owner." A haughty look is cast at her highly falliable human director. "Regardless, Darius and I are a lovely couple, will have lovely foals, and won't bother our children with the inner family bickering and sniveling." The most perfect hairstyle ever?
He took a few moments to examine himself in the lake's reflection before giving a nod of satisfaction. His hair positively glowed, carefully cleaned and rebraided and coiled into what could only be described as the most perfect hairstyle. Well, to him it was perfect, to others it was strange and very loud due to the golden rings upon each 'horn'.
Alas, he looked absolutely dazzling so - check!
And finally, the most fantastic personality - the most desired and worshipped of all...
Le check! He struck a somewhat dramatic pose, flicking out his white tail against the blue velvet of his robes. His head gave a musical chime and he couldn't help but smirk through satisfaction. Now if he had to get up on stage or in front of a camera then he would be the most beautiful and the most eye catching. Those overglorified chickens (Wind Soquili) and ice cream cones could kiss his a** (not literally of course, he couldn't have it soiled).
Now, casting aside his own appearance for at least thirty seconds he couldn't help but wonder if he was missing something. Everything about him was perfect but he had that 'empty' feeling again and a perplexed expression flicked across his face momentarily. It was something very important, had he been human he probably would have plopped down on a rock, cupped his hands in his chin and popped his lips until he figured it out but that wasn't an option.
What was his most valuable possession and where had he put it?
You plank! His mind snaped as the image of his mate flashed through his brain and he flushed under the white fur of his cheeks. Just as well that fur was there as he would have had a lot of explaining to do - the blush wasn't so much through embarassment as inappropriate thoughts. Of course he was allowed such thoughts, he was royalty after all and thus he was permitted to be uncouth provided no one could hear or see it!
Ah, so that was what he was missing.
Well, she would join him shortly, her shy nature often requried for him to take the lead and to steal all the attention for himself so that she didn't end up in the limelight. He found this a difficult concept to grasp, her beauty was tenfold in comparison to the other mares and yet she always hid.
Alas, he loved her anyway!
Thus, it was with a boyish smirk on his lips that he sprang towards the 'camera' and struck another of his poses. Arching his neck he made certain the rings in his hair gave another chime (just for affect) before speaking.
"Ladies and Gentlemen - the one you have all been waiting for is here!" Such a shame he didn't have his own crier, it could have made for such a dramatic entrance. "And of course, my darling...dearest partner of greatness shall be here shortly - she's just powdering her nose." He explained dutifully as though this wouldn't cause attention to be drawn to her the moment she arrived.
Photo opportunity! He couldn't complain and neitehr could she - she got to snuggle him after all!
That being said, as the 'microphones' swarmed towards him and what could otherwise be considered his playful and over active imagination they held but one question.
"So why do you think you should win?"
Now this perplexed him for but a mere millisecond as he puffed up his chest arrogantly and arched a brow.
"Clearly you are ill informed, I have already won - my darling dearest partner of greatness will even confirm that!" He chirped in a good natured fashion, as though the mistake was a perfectly acceptable one and perfectly normal. Alas, only he could see what went on in his own little world - lord only knew what it looked like from the outside!

Zaribe extends his wings looking very proud, his neck outstretched gracefully. Tossing his head he gave a flick of his tail and grinned deeply. His own sense of self being was at its peak.
Now he could finally be a true mate to his "Sunny Rainbow".
When asked why he would make a perfect candidate he smiled once more clearing his deep throat, "Well actually I am the bright colorful parrot.... and she is my Sunny Rainbow with all her colors of the rainbow. So essentially we are two of a kind, yet one in the same. The beautiful combination we make is perfect for the entry don't ya think?" he tossed his head, bobbing it for a moment and grinned once more, "Besides where else will you find plumage as magnificent as this?" Now fully spreading his wings he stood silently still, his great chest rising and falling. "See excellent candidate if I do say myself," Another bob of his finely built head, "What can I say I love her so much... and I'll go to the ends of the Earth to help her know that".
Finally he bowed lowering his wings upon his back with a sweep of his long fading primary colored mane before he rose once more to walk off the stage.

She batted her eyelashes, flipped her mane coyly, gave her demure smile. She made sure her jewelry caught all the light at just the right angles. Everyone was looking at her, and she loved it.
Azure on the other hand, wasn't so sure about all this attention. Why was this anyone else's business but their own? He stood very close to Kamiki, a forced smile on his face.
"First of all," Kamiki started on her planned presentation, "Its always an honor to just to nominated!" She paused for the obligatory applause. "But I have to say, Azure and I would be so honored to win this one. We have been trying for quite some time," she looked over to him and nudge him gently with her wing. On cue, Azure gave a confirming nod, "And he's such a lovely stallion. We think we have the genes to make strong, and of course, beautiful children. We can raise them to bring more light to this world, sharing our love with them and teaching them to be as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside!"
Azure and Kamiki took in the applause again at her affirming speech before giving a bow. Azure gave another awkward nod and shuffled Kamiki reluctantly off the stage. "Wow, Kamiki," he said to her as they exited.
"Good?" she said, with a wink.
"Well, yes... but I mostly meant.. I never knew you were such a ham."
