There was something very familiar about being at the mountain. She was only at the ground level yet, the snow light and the temperature somewhat similar to lakefront. But it felt incredibly good, compared to the warm days and the hot sun, and it felt right. The mare standing by a small pine tree, staring up the mountain pass formed by others on their treks, was very sure that this was her home. She had been telling others that constantly as it was almost apparent she did not come from the green grasslands like the lot of them. Hopefully she hadn't been lying.

But she was so sure that she was a mountain mare! Everything about just being near the mountains sat very well with her. She ignored the possibility that she may have only felt that way out of extreme hoping and pretending. Shaking her head, she tossed her mane as she tore her eyes away from the pass she'd soon be walking.

It had been a while, not very long but not too short, since she had seen the stallion who claimed to find her again. It was the same with many others she had met, such as Jean and Feena, but this was different. She kind of missed him more than the others she had met. The ice mare, Cosette, assumed that it was because she had spent more time talking to him and fooling around, but the girly part of her mind kept saying different. And once again, Cosette told herself to ignore that little bell as it was nothing but trouble.
But still, she had hoped to run into him again bfore her adventure, as he probably remembered more about this area than she did. Even if she thought she came from here, she could only hope her memory would magically reappear and save her from getting lost.

Unfortunatley, she hadn't run into Twilight since then, and now she felt was the appropriate time to familiar herself with her supposed home. It couldn't be too hard to venture the mountains alone, right?

What.a.day.

True, he hadn't quite been able to locate his mother and brother as of yet...trying to find two soquili in which one couldn't even remember what they looked like was turning out to be a bit more troublesome. Luckily for him the one whom he was tracking down he could remember perfectly...her vivid snowy pelt with the estranged markings of navy was something which had become permanently attached to his memories. Why was it that he couldn't get his mind off her? The mare left him wanting to know more and more about her...about the past which even she couldn't recall. He longed to know it all, since maybe then this appetite his mind called or could maybe be quelled?

Galloping through the thicker woods with the mountian pass in sight, he was fairly sure that it was where Cosette would be heading...since it was a heavy task to go straight up the mountian slopes. Not when there was a nice and acessable trail winding through the snowy scapes. He hoped he wasn't too late, or that he'd missed her. Yet the last mare that he spoke to did say she noticed an oddly coloured mare head in this direction not too long ago....he figured that this mare had never left the comforts of the valley and thus wouldn't recognized that white pelts were as common up there as greens and browns were down here.

"Come on....come on...."

He breathed, a bit short for breath as his mane whipped about in the breeze behind him. With his hooves thudding against the terra, Twilight could see the mountians beyond the treetops get closer and closer untill a white speck seemed to filter through the trees. That must have been her! With his heart feeling relieved, he picked up the pace and tore past the foliage before coming to a slowed hault in the clearing, trotting off the run as he then stood with his head held tall while his chest heaved from the run.

"Cosette! I'm glad I caught you...."

And of course, infinately glad to see her again.

The mountain pass, how far did it take one up the mountain? She squinted her eyes as she tried to tell from her current position, but it disappeared out of sight in all of it's curves and it's faded nature. A pang of worry hit the mare, but she hope it would fade once she began walking. As she lifted a hoof, she paused at the calling of her name.

That voice was so familiar...

Recognizing quickly who it belonged to, she turned her head in the direction of the voice. An excited and happy look overtook Cosette's face as she grinned, flicking her tail. Relief washed over her as she took a few steps towards the dark stallion. "Twilight! Hey!" She greeted, red eyes gleaming. It took her a moment to realize he was out of breath, and sh craned her head forward curiously. "You alright?" She inquired, her voice laced with concern. Unknowing that hehad been running, she assumed it might've been from the change in temperature.

She was kind of shocked to see him here. just when se thought about him he seemed to appear. She held in her giggles as she thought about it, but she was relieved that he would possibly travel with her. If it'd be a bother, she wouldn't want him to do so. But still... Shaking her head lightly, she ignored her "silly" thoughts and kept her attention on Twilight.

"Hey..!"

Shaking out his head as he gaze a final large intake of air before releasing a relaxing breath. Glancing across the short distance between them, he gave a quick nod of his head with a lazy smile. "I'm alright....just out of breath. I don't think i've run so fast in a while." Immediately feeling a bit uneasy with what he said...he really didn't want to appear as some crazy stalker or anything; he just wanted to keep his word!

"I mean...I promised and all, so I had to hurry to catch you and whatnot..." Oh yes, he just gave the perfect example of a bumbling fool. Mentally rolling his eyes, he looked up to the faded out summit before them; well aware that just past their sight of vision lay the snow clouded peak....and just below that lay one of the many villages. He'd seen the brewing storm clouds from his father's teepee, the heat must have been flowing up the slopes to make such a strong storm above. Stepping forth to be at her side, a confident grin etched across his lips as his tail flicked idolly behind him.

"It looks like when we reach the top there'll be a storm, unless the winds change and it shifts. Yet we better get a move on....if we're lucky it'll still be light out when we reach the summit so we wont be trying to find shelter in the dark with stormy conditions!"

Well, now was as good as time as any to begin their journey full of so much promise for Cosette. He was curious if she'd regain some of her memory as the trip progressed, would they perhaps meet any of her relatives? Only time would tell as he gave a soft snort and took the first few inclined steps up the trail...the start of the journey had begun for the pair. Looking back, he offered a kind smile.

"Shall we get a move on?....and what have you been up to since we last spoke?"

A smile graced Cosette's face at how he wanted to keep his promise. She almost felt her cheeks heat, almost. Swallowing that feeling down, she flicked her tail cheerfully, but stopped when he mentioned a storm. A storm...? Her expression dropped, and her tail stopped flicking. That didn't sound good. But it seemed to be familiar, storms in the mountains. Once again, she attempted to pry her memory to see but was at a loss.

"Oh, right!" She nodded as she began to step up the pass to at least walk side-by-side with Twilight. Situating her self, she lifted a hoof and looked up at the sky as she thought, beginning to walk, "Well, I've been swimming more often, and I met this little foal whose a treasure-hunter!" She laughed softly at the thought of Feena, but quieted as she hought. She hadn't done muc snce their last meeting. Since then she had been doing a lot of thinking, a lot of prying, and a lot of sighing when she couldn't come to a conclusion about her feelings or memory.

"What about you? How'd the meeting with your parents go?" She nudged him playfully, curious as to how heinteracted with relatives he hadn't seen in a while. She had no idea how'd she react if she met with her parents. Heck, would she even recognize them? Would they recognize her? Snorting softly at the thought, she kept her attention on the dark stallion, every now and then glancing at the pass ahead.

Flattening his ears twice as Cosette's good mood faltered, there was a moment that he instantly regretted bringing it up. He was glad that she did have some fun, this foal sounded quite nice and obviously a spunky little one to label itself a treasure hunter. Foals....the thought brought a smile to his lips as his head gave a soft shake. It was strange how the darling little creatures were popping up everywhere in his life as of late, comparing he'd never seen one for years.

"This foal sounds like a fun time, and of course nothing if ever wrong with a bit of swimming." He mused, before glancing to Cosette as her nose pushed against his neck lightly. "Oh....my parents....Well, it went alright. I found my father....he was happy to see me even though I thought he would have been angry. Goes to show how wrong I was to make assumptions."

Biting his ip lightly as he made a odd face, he soon let it go to make way for a gentle smile. "I also met up with my sister, who's had Foals herself. Two colts, so I'm an Uncle now." It still was a very, very strange thought. "I never got to catch up with my mother or brother, I don't even remember what they look like." How horrible was it he couldn't remember? Was this what Cosette felt on a daily basis with her family? Her home?

Slowly, the valley below began to become more distant and distant as the pair scaled the path before them. The winds began to pick up as the air slowly but surely began to chill with the oncoming snow at a higher level. Jumping over a fallen tree on the path, Twilight looked back to make sure Cosette would do the same before continuing. He knew these mountians were full of peril....and fog could fall in at a moments notice to blind anyone from an inch beyond their own noses. "Have you had any more luck in remembering anything of your past?"

Cosette nodded as they walked and he described what had happened. Her lips pulled into a grin as he spok of his sister and now that he was an uncle, the thought lingering in her head. An uncle now, huh? Did he wonder what it'd be like to have colts of his own? But he did in a way, through relations. She shook the thought off, wary that it may get her thinking about other things. "Well," she began, tossing her head, "Uncle Twilight, maybe all you need is a good memory jolt, like myself." She flashed a silly smile before lookin ahead of them. She felt a pang in her chest, as she could relate to the situation her companion was in.

But at least he knew he had a brother, and that made such a huge difference to Cosette. He could see his sister, his father, and know that somewhere there was his mother and brother. She could assume that somewhere in the mountains her parents were. But dd she have sisters? Brothers? Was she an only child? She wished that she and Twilight could switch situations, but that would be very unpleasant for him, she decided with a mental grunt.

The arctic mare blinked hard as the wind picked up, and she paused momentarily to watch the darker stallion jump over a fallen tree. She followed suit, tossing her mane in a playful attempt to show off, before her face fell to one of thought. She pursed her lips and swuinted her eues, making sure she was at least side-by-side with him, "Mmm... Not really. But I do feel so much more comfortable here than I do down in the fields and the like. So much more refreshing! So I guess that should be a good indication, right?" She looked to his, red eyes scanning his face to as if he held the answer. She knew well that he didn't, but she seceretly hopd he'd jump out and say that he knew exactly where her parents were, her siblings, her home.

But that wasn't going to happen.

"Hey..." Twilight made a stubborn face as he gave a little lighthearted snort. Uncle was such an....old term. Sure, he had a bit of a laugh now that his father was moping about the Grandpa title and his new hinderance to getting into another romance once their mother left....yet Twilight was still in his youth and enjoying it. Uncle was the only title that his nephews could referr to him as...not Cosette! "It's still Twilight to you, and.....uncle isn't that old anyways, I'm young and my bones are still fiiine!"

Oh yes, he was well aware she had said nothing about uncles being old....yet he still felt the need to defend his youth to the Mare. Why? Well...he didn't know.

However, her attempt to flaunt worked exactly as planned as he found himself watching in a hidden awe as her mane bounced gracefully as she landed without so much a grunt or a faulter. Quickly making sure that she didn't catch him staring, his eyes shot forewards before slowly turning back when she seemed to get a little saddened. Crap...why did he have to say such stupid things when he knew how touchy the subject was!

Stupid, stupid, stupid!

"Oh...no....you see...." He tried to stammer his way out of it, before giving a bit of a sigh. He wished he knew the way to her family, or even knew who they were....how amazing would it feel to be able to pinpoint these soquili and see the wonderful smile on Cosette's face. Yet he didn't know the location, or anything about her family. Putting on a warm and hopeful smile, he gave a nudge to her cheek and tilted his head slightly. "Its a great start....even if you don't know much else, knowing that you are from the mountians makes the search so much easier; rather than having to look everywhere....you know you have the area...now all we have to do is find the location....and we'll for sure find the family we seek. Just....keep your mind sharp for clues or signs, and we'll get to them!"

He kept walking on as his pelt have a little shake as the air began to drop once again with the elevation, hopefully his little pep talk would bring that smile back to her face. He'd rather face the oncoming storm ahead than to see her saddened look upon her face.

Cosette hid the pang of guilt and disappointment by looking away when he stammered. Why would she expect him to know where her family was? Who they were? She hadn't meant to make him uncomfortable (even though she was feeling a tad unlike herself beside him). She eyed him out of the corner of her eye and felt the nudge, listening intently. She offered a soft smile at his words, and nodded.

Well, no point in being all depressed about it, right? That wouldn't make this trip any fun, and she didn't want to be an annoyance to the stallion.

She attempted to stand a little taller as she walked and tossed her head back, grinning at him, "So keep sharp for clues? Okay!" She giggled, attempting to bring back a more comfortable atmosphere in which conversation could be kept up. She walked a bit closer to him, watching ahead as her red eyes flickered from left to right. Now where or where could her family be...

But at the moment, she was more interested in th stallion at her side's family... More interested in the stallion himself. She would try not linger on her long-lost memories, as thatw ould bring down her mood. She tilted her head as she studied his face, trying to think of a topic starter. His coat was dark, and his eyes were a really dark blue...

He was quite handsome, really.
She never had the time to think about it.

The mare blinked hard and looked away, chuckling nervously before claring her throat, "So, you've told me a bit on your meeting with your family... But what's it like? What about the other... Mares, you happen to know?" She inquired, stallin a bit before her choice in the word 'mare'. Cosette had a feeling he had other female friends, but what were his opinions on them?
PostPosted: Thu Aug 16, 2007 2:10 am

"Thats right!"

With a bright smile on his muzzle, he gave a steady nod as she seemed to become a lot happier. Thank goodness, he wasn't sure how much he could take of such a sad mood untill he too in essence became saddened as well. It wasn't often that he was so affected by another's emotions to alter his own...so the thought struck him as odd and rather new.

Was he becoming soft?

No! He couldn't. He was to be a warrior, a hero to help those who could not help themselves. Twilight couldn't afford to allow his nerves to be soft...or even his heart in times of peril. One false move and it was game over...he couldn't have something like that weighing him down afterall. Snapping back to reality as he blinked over to Cosette, of course noticing their proximity has become really..really close.

"What's it like? My family...?" What was his family like? "Well....from what I can remember, My mother, Marina and my father Kale were pretty happy, Kalm and Azriel were rambunctious like me. Now...well, since i've been gone I'm not sure where my mother and brother are. Its nice knowing that Father and Az are still around...but they seem a bit saddened lately. Hopefully I can figure out why." Yet her next question caused his cheeks to flush as he looked away for a moment. Friends. Ah yes, he figured that would have to come up sooner or later.

"I don't really have many, but I have encountered many nice aquaintances. There is Lady Cromwell....she's a unique mare. She wears odd cloths...like the two legged. Very proper, very ladylike. Then there is Arugia, she actually looked a bit like myself, loved the night sky. I'm fortunate to have had nothing but good luck in meeting the good, and not the bad Soquili." At that, he could only offer a bit of a sheepish smile. It wasn't that he was afraid, oh no...he'd rather have a pleasant encouner anyday.

Opening his mouth to speak again, Twilight was silenced as a strong, howling wind tore past the two equines. His hair whisped back as his spine gave a rattle to the icy gust, oi, was that cold! Gritting his teeth as it died down a moment later, he looked to Cosette and could feel his skin twitch slightly. "We're getting closer.....but anyways. How about yourself? I'm sure you've met many on your travels...?"

She smiled and nodded, interested in his family. She grinned at the familiar name, Azariel, as she had met the mare when she was carrying live. Azariel never mentioned a brother, let alone Twilight, but then again she had met the pretty female only once. She'd keep that little bit of info to herself as she watched him look away. Ohoh, so finally the answer to her question? She tried to keep her face as blank but interested as possible, trying to not show that she was almost anxious about hearing about his other female companions were.

It wasn't like she was jealous or anything... No!
But... Was it wrong to want to be preffered above the rest?

She nodded, looking ahead as he explained Auriga and Cromwell. Two legger... "Two leggers? She wears clothes like a two-legger? Wow..." She pursed her dark lips as she glanced away. And then a mare who looked like himself... She must have been very pretty then, she mused as she glanced to him with a similar smile. She too had only had pleasant encounters, and would rather keep it that way... Well, she'd like to meet a Kalona... Or at least see one, yes, that was right. See one.

She winced and paused momentarily in her step as the wind tore past them, and she felt her teeth chatter in her mouth. She hunched her shoulders upwards as a natural reaction to the wind, ducking her head down. Cosette was beginning to find it hard that she had actually lived in these conditions. Maybe the land below had softened her...?

She sidetspped closer to the stallion in some silly hope that she could duck under his ridiculously long mane, and chuckled softly, "I have, actually. Vodka... Told me about the different kinds of Soquili. I didn't think that there were icky ones till I met him. He was nice; dark like you... And then there's Copper. Playful and bashful thing he is, even if he won't admit it. I told you about Feena... And then there's Jean too!" She let out a little giggle at the latter before glancing away, "He was interesting. He had fangs, and he was interesting to talk too..." The mare turned her red eyes back to Twilight, and nudged his cheek with her nose.

"But it all started with you, y'know? First Soquili I've met since coming down from this place." She offered a quick smile befre averting her eyes quickly. She didn't want to sound silly or anything, and with such a light coat she didn't want him getting the wrong idea with her cheeks heating up. The wind was harsh, afterall.

--

((We still going with the two-legger idea? =o ))
PostPosted: Wed Aug 22, 2007 3:46 pm

What was she up to?

As the wind had died down, Twilight was a bit suprised to once more feel the rather close proximity of Cosette. Her chattering teeth had instantly caught his attention, she'd probably lost her winter pelt during her stay down in the warm lowlands. Bodies could be amazing in figuring out which state to be in for its surroundings - yet it could also be fooled quite easily. Twilight had yet to lose his coat fully, and still had some thickness to give him a wee bit of protection against the temperature drop as they neared closer and closer to the peak. Already up ahead the path flattened as the white snow drew near, even as the clouds began to become closer he could tell that some of their journey would have to be done through the cloud cover.

However, seeing as they were close...he knew that things needed to be done one step at a time. As if on que, he paused for a moment in his walking and tossed his mane over to the other side of his neck as it doubed as an odd blanket to drape over the ivory mare's neck and back. "Better...?" He spoke softly, trying not to interrupt her before he listened in on what she had to say....it was a bit of a challenge since the pounding of his heart gave way to the redness which crept without notice onto his ebony cheeks.

Jean....he sounded so amazing. Would he be cool too in her eyes if he had fangs, or wings, or something else that set him apart from everyone else?
But she had spoken of this Vodka fellow, who was nice and dark...was it she liked dark coloured Soquili? More importantly, why was he so interesting on who she liked?

Raising a brow as she nudged him, he looked almost stupified when he noticed her cheeks heat up and turned a bit cherry. She wasn't blushing, was she? Not like he, who he still thanked his father's ebony pelted genes that he inherited. Looking away at the same time as she in a bit of embarassment, he gave a small cough. It must have just been the cold , thats it, or at least that was what he was going to keep telling himself. "Well, I feel honored to have given such a good impression that you didn't turn and run back up here!" A chuckle escaped his lips, trying to lighten the tension between the two.

After all, from all the mare had been through with losing the memories of her family and loved ones, she deserved a second chance at being happy and loved. She was strong to put a smile on her face when she was undoubtedly full of sorrow when everyone else had families.

He wanted nothing more than to reunite her with those from her forgotten memories.

Slowly the snow began to fall as the dark stallion looked up to the blackening skies. Even as they continued on, the trail became frosted, then powdered, untill their steps began to sink as the white flakes stretched up to their knees. It surely wasn't turning out to be the winter wonderland that he was hoping to show Cosette on her return up to her homelands. "It doesn't look good, a storm is coming in." He admitted in a serious tone, seeing the trail getting foggier up ahead.

"We best stay close....the blizzards can be long and mild, or short and feirce. By the look of the clouds, we're in for the latter." Giving a curt sigh, the cave that he and the elder stallion had last stayed in wasn't for a while yet...they'd have a lot of walking in order to get to it. Luckily this trail wasn't new to Twilight and as long as he had a bit of visibility near the ground he'd be alright. Since the two were now walking on an old stream trail which was naturally indented from the rest of the snow and ground they walked on.

Unbeknownst to them, up ahead in the blizzarding trail stalked a group of four foreign hunters. They stalked and hunted the large breeds of Soquili which inhabited the mountian lands for working horses back home. Easily able to handle the large ploughs of the feilds, they kept their hunting dogs close and their rifles even closer.

[I would like to! x] If you don't wish to, just ignore my last part of the post xDD]

(I do! I was just wondering. >w<)

Cosette had bitten down on her lower lip to keep her teeth from chattering, and noticed all too son that the annoying feeling in her mouth had dulled a bit. She inwardly grinned as her attempt to get under his mane was a success. For such a ridiculously long mane, it had it's uses as a leash, a blanket... Framing that face of his and making the black stand out even more. At the final thought she blinked hard and snorted quietly.
Such a silly, stupid thought.

The arctic mare kept her red eyes on the path ahead, the snow getting depper with each step. By the time it was up to her knees, she could barely recognize the cold feeling. Her legs were in a sense numb, but not numb in the sense she'd lose her limb. It was more like her legs had gotten used to the snow, and protected itself intnerally against it. It didn't seem to bother Twilight, and it irked her a bit as she realized this. For a sallion who didn't originate from the mountains, he surely did well in these conditions. She hid her contempt for her weakness in the snow by tossing her mane, ridding the ivory strands of white specks.... Even though one would not be able to notice them in her locks of white. She could easly spot them on Twilight's coat, and if she had the time she could count them.

She could easily blend into her surroundings; he stuck out pretty sorely.
But kind of beautifully too.
... If that was the correct choice of ords for a male.

Cosette had not taken in the skies that much; she could slightly recall barely ever seeing or feeling the warm sun before leaving her birthland. It wasn't... Necessarily "home" when you couldn't remember it, in a way. She hid the remorseful feeling that came with that thought, and swallowed it hard. She had glanced away to look around, knowing well that her face was easily readable. This may not be a pleasant experience, but she could at least make it one. However, the feelings that continued to crawl up on her, the very tiny memories of the snow and the cold... Were making this experience less pleasant the farther she advanced.

She didn't want to go back.
Cosette felt bad that she had left in the first place, and not even recalling why.

She had only nodded lamely as he described the storm, her ears not flicking toward him fast enough. As the words slowly made sense in her head, guilt began to wash over her was she realized she had dragged him into this. "I was hoping the storm wouldn't come so quickly," she confessed as she gave him a sullen look, "Didn't want you to get caught up in a storm. So... I guess we'll have to seek temorary shelter, huh?" Her words picked up as she lifted her head, offering a smile. She did not want to rub off her silly feelings onto the nomad, as the thought of the impending storm scared her a bit. It wouldn't deter them from the path, right? As long as the took the right precautions?

She began to walk ahead of him, flicking her tail to keep it from trailing ontop of the snow. "There's gotta be some sort of cave or shelter somewhere nearby... How else did we get along surviving..." She muttered the last part to herself, rakeing her brain for some map that had been long forgotten of the mountains.

[Excellent! x] ]

Folding his ears down, Twilight could feel the solitude sink back into his mindframe even as he strode beside Cosette. The mountians could be a beautiful place, when the wam sun set the snow ablaze with glittering specks. Yet when the storms sunk down around the mountian peaks...one could really feel the desolation this baren land could bring, along with the chill of dampened emotions harbored in the soul. Through the gusts of wind and snow which burst by, Twilight could see the frame of Elder drifting through the snowy lands....as much as his heart lept at the idea that he still was around, he knew how cruel the snow could be to produce images in the mind; just like the desert.

Giving a curt sigh, he turned his attention back to Cosette and away from the snow. At least with her here, he found it more comforting that he had her to focus on so he could keep his sanity in tact. None the less, he noticed his stares also gave a familliar flutter to the heart; was it hope?

Shaking his head, he gave her cheek a light nudge while trying to look her in the eyes despite the fact she looked away and began to walk a little more swiftly. "Don't worry about it, Cosette. I said I would accompany you, that did imply through any weather conditions." He offered a smile to match her own, only watching as she scooted a head a bit and seem to say something about shelter. He knew there was one if they stayed on this path, yet to how long it would take he couldn't remember. He had been so young and busy worrying about the blizzard to pay attention to the wise words of Elder. "That would be the best idea..." He trailed off, pausing in his steps as he forgot Cosette was still ahead.

Turning his head back and perking his ears up, he strained to hear what had caught his attention....a cry in the wind. Squinting his eyes against the cold wind, he took a step to turn around....was there something coming in the distance? Giving a snort, he was about to call out when something impacted his leg, and hard as it seemed like needles clenched his leg. It was then he realized it, canines.....which out here could only mean...

"Hunters! Cosette, run!!" He bellowed out as the pack of dogs rushed forth out of the blizzard's white curtian. Kicking out his hind legs to send one of the dogs airborne, he stomped his hooves into the snow and snapped at a few of the others trying to n** at his neck. Curses, now where were the humans which owned these vile cretons?

While the dogs were busy with Twilight, the humans and their remainder two hounds made sure to surround Cosette. Unknownst to the large stallion down the trail, they took note of her ivory coat and assumed that she was the breed of equine they were searching for their crops. Releasing the two dogs, they rushed forth to the mare while the hunters readied their ropes and bindings.

It seemed today was their lucky day afterall for staying out in the blizzard!

(OMIGEE. Twilight and Cosette are having baaaaaabies!)

Hunters?

The word was foreign in her ears, and to hear it from his voice it sounded like a different language. She looked behind herself back at him and hisfrantic voice, her red eyes wide as she attempted to assess the situation. Funny looking wolf-like creatures had come out of no where, and one was attatched to his leg. If it was possible for her heart to stop, it had in that very second, as confusion and fear washed through her body ad mind. A frightened gasp escaped her vocals, and she wanted to run back and get tem away from him. Her legs however, were glued to that very spot, her muscles tense and unmoving.

But if she had backed up to help him, would it anger him? He told her to run for a reason... If he was playing the martyr, she wasn't going to let him! She attempted to lift a fear-heavy hoof, tossing a quick glance sidelong to where she had been heading. Her hoof came down clumsily as hermere glance turned to a stare, eyeing the two two-leggers and their mutts. She had been frozen moments before, but red-hot adrenaline rushed through her veins as she watched the hunters release their dogs at her. She pursed her lips and instinctively reared back on her hind legs, bring her front hooves down forcefully upon one of the dog's tails. The loud yelping sound lifted her spirits, but only momentarily.

A sharp pain erupted from her left hind leg, and in reaction she lifted the injured leg sharply from the grip of her attacker, placing it down with the same speed but gently. Her other leg came out brashly and frantically in a attempt to kick one of the canines in the face, the one which had brought about the trickles of red trailing down her leg. Without looking back at Twilight, she saw an opening between the two dogs, but not the two humans. There was a breif moment of reasoning in her frantic mind. The dogs were more lethal to her, with their sharp teeth, and if she could lure them away from Twilight, away from attacking him...

Well, all she had to do was get close enough to the two leggers. Their dogs couldn't, would't attack so close to their masters.. She limped slightly as she tried to run towards the two humans (a faint gleam of hope in her head that she'd be able to knock one of them down if she reared back in time), stopping once to push her strength into her legs and buck her back legs back, knocking one of the attacking dogs back a few feet. As she did so, she casted a longing glance over her shoulder at the stallion, remorse filling her red eyes as she gasped audibly in an attempt to fill her lungs to speak.

Her words came out as if she had a sore throat, and could barely be heard over the winds of the oncoming storm, "Twilight! Just go!" She croaked, watching the dogs set on him. She couldn't get back to him without getting attacked herself... And the humans were closer to her. So if they had a hand on her, they'd leave him alone, right...?
