He hadn't been surprised that his mate had wandered off in the morning. She did it often and he'd gotten used to it. He knew she'd never be able to stick to the same place day in and day out and it wasn't about to try to hell her she couldn't leave as long as she came back in the evening.
So it was starting to make him wonder now that the afternoon was wearing on and he hadn't seen her return yet. Hopefully she'd be back soon or he'd have to go looking for her.
Shaking his head he trotted down toward the lake to get a drink. The little ones, or not so little any more, were off doing who knows what so it was just him and the dirt and the water.

Guilian had walked her back to the lake as any true gentleman would. She enjoyed her encounters with him if only because they served to remind her that there were so many things outside of the world that she had become accustomed to. There was life beyond bearing children and things that existed outside of family even if family should come before everything.
Instead of heading directly back to the camp she'd taken a detour around the lake, moving slowly through the shallows so that she could have a bit of time to herself. The water, nice and cool, had always served to calm her. Now, looking down at the reflective surface, it only caused her to think.
She watched her reflection ripple with each step, moving as she did. It was always one step ahead of her... Everything was always one step ahead of her, it seemed. Sighing she glanced up, catching sight of Nuka in the distance. She paused, unsure as to whether or not she wanted to talk to him just yet. He would probably brush everything off as nonsense; tell her the same things that everyone else did... The same things that he'd told her when she was younger: She just didn't understand.

He shook his head to get some of the dust out of his mane before he leaned down to get another drink. Where ever she was Atsila was fine, she had to be. Unless she'd gone off to the mountains or further there wasn't anything out there that she wouldn't know to run from. Smart girls didn't get eaten.
Shorting he kicked at the dirt before looking back toward the twoleggers camp. She must hate it being stuck there so often because of family, because he wanted her there.
Bah, that was probably why she'd run off in the first place. She probably wanted to get away from everyone for a while.

When he turned without seeing her she paused for a moment longer, watching him walk away. Nuka wouldn't walk away from her... He had never walked away from her. She was always the one who had walked away from him. Every time they had parted she had walked off first.
Brow furrowed and expression sadly serious she made her way slowly back towards the camp. Each fall of her hoof was soft as she tried to keep herself from being heard. If Nuka was going to keep on walking she wasn't going to stop him... He should be able to walk away from her too, right?

The earth was dry thanks to the rain ceasing so his hoof falls kicked up small clouds of dust as he made his way back toward the camp and though it. She'd come back eventually, she always did, and he could just try not to sound too possessive once she did. Even if she had probably gone off to see the stallion she always compared him to.
Walking close enough to the trees to find the spot that his mate usually slept in he leaned down to sniff at the grass for a moment before he moved on. No matter how he hated it, seeing her walk off all the time with no explanation other than she didn't want to see him, he knew she didn't feel the same way about it as he did.
She was Remy's child and freedom tugged at her more than anything.

She took a few more cautious steps forward, tail giving a light flicker behind her. She watched him pause and then, just before he could walk away again, she called out to him. "Nuka!" He always tried to stop her when she walked away... She should do the same, shouldn't she? Even if he didn't stop?
Yes, she was her father's child and being Remy's child had taught her many things. The most important thing that she'd learned from her father was the importance of family. You didn't abandon family no matter what and she'd already broken that rule far too many times. She'd run off over and over again... But she always came back. This was where she always came back to... To the only home she'd known since leaving the clearing that she'd been raised in.

His ears twitched toward the sound of her voice and he almost didn't believe it. His head turned and his eyes widened slightly as he saw her standing a bit away from her. He hadn't expected her to call out to him when she returned. Shaking his head he turned and walked toward her. "Welcome home.."
He couldn't' ask her where she'd been. She'd give him some sort of silly answer that didn't really tell him anything and would only anger her and cause her to leave again.

She kept a few paces between them, torn between the desire to touch her nose to his neck and the urge to run way while she still could. She glanced down at the ground for a moment before lifting her golden eyes to him. He was still the same Nuka that she'd always remembered; a big, strong stallion who still made her feel, deep down, like a silly little girl.
She'd seen him heading to the woods and now she turned her gaze towards them, almost as if expecting to see someone else there waiting for him. Surely there had been others at one point in time... Surely he didn't stay here all by himself while she roamed the woods searching for herelf. "... Goin' somewhere?"

"No where in particular." He would have probably wandered as far as the edge of the river before he turned back. He had given into the fear that the one time he was not there when she returned that he would never see her again. "Just walking."
"You going to stick around for a while? Wadi's got something to tell you i think." Their son had been bouncing around for a bit that morning saying something about a friend before he'd managed to get up the nerve to creep off again. He supposed his son was going to find said friend again but he knew the young stallion would like his mother to know.

The air felt thick around her and taking a step forward through it felt strange. It wasn't a feeling she cared for, nor was it one she would want to feel again after it went away. "Ah was goin' to..." She could easily wander off somewhere else... Maybe to find her mother if only to have someone to talk to. She didn't want to do that though. She didn't want to leave. This was where she wanted to be.
Her eyes drifted back down to the ground as she turned away from the stallion, certain that if he was going to walk he had to have had something better in mind than standing here in awkward silence with her. "Ah'll let you get back t'your walk..."

He stood there silently for a moment before he took another step and nuzzled her cheek. Usually it got him snapped at but he usually felt the occasional bite worth the effort. "I wouldn't have gotten far. Don't like being gone when you're off wandering."
It made for little company but he'd gotten good at entertaining himself. Until a bit ago there had been little ones to take care of. If it wasn't that then it was keeping Dodger and Wylie from tearing each others heads off verbally.

She closed her eyes, remaining still for a moment before nuzzling her cheek back against his. She didn't know what to say... Or even if she should say anything at all.
Instead of speaking she took a step closer to him, resting her head on his neck before giving him another gentle nuzzle. "Ah'm sorry Ah'm so terrible, Nuka... Ah don't mean t'be..."

He nuzzled his nose against her neck as she leaned on him. It was good to have her close where he could smell the dust on her and her own scent. Good to have her home.
"You're not terrible." If she was he wouldn't have stuck around. She was just hard to deal with. "Never thought this would be easy. Got into it knowing how you are"

She bristled slightly as she pulled back, trying not to act hurt or upset. "... How Ah am? Everyone keeps tellin' me how they think Ah am... Why don't you go an' tell me too. Best t'jus' let everyone get this outta their systems at once. How am Ah, Nuka?"

Something was wrong and he'd managed to, as usual, push the wrong button at the wrong time. He was developing a wonderful talent for it.
"Atsila ... what's wrong?" He reached his head out and touch the end of his nose to hers.
