description: as a youth, dragul had a speech impediment caused by having a pronounced overbite, and so she learned as a corsea to speak very carefully, which is a trait she has kept from that time. she is very conscious of how different she is from the humans she was raised with, and she is not comfortable being a goblin, which seems to be a monster in most human stories. she wants to be beautiful and popular and likeable, but she has few to no manners and when she does use them it's obvious that they don't come naturally. she occasionally has violent tendencies which worry her.
history: dragul had been with genevieve since coming out of her orb, and she stayed with genevieve throughout all the things which happened, the mugging, her relationship with andrew, everything. the most important events in dragul's life so far are: in the last few hours dragul was an under genevieve dreamed them into the underground where she met lore, lysander, and malecoda, which was an enlightening experience; after a fight with genevieve, dragul went to a movie and accidentally lost her temper and killed a man. genevieve took the blame until dragul confessed. then she was given to scientists to study, where she remained until she grew to a courtesan and returned to her home, the underground.

description: genevieve is relatively tall for a girl, at five foot eight, and tends towards skinniness because she never quite seems to eat enough, or retain any of the calories she has consumed. her hair is dark, and her eyes are, too. she always looks tired because she works so much of the time. likewise, her skin is pale because she rarely gets to see the sun, and even if she did she would probably burn.
history: genevieve was always intelligent and motivated. throughout grade school she worked harder than most, but she was still a normal kid. things were fine through middle school, but when she got into high school her mother got sick with cancer and at the same time her best friend left the geek track and became popular. she had no choice but to continue to study hard and hope for a scholarship if she wanted to go to college, because her mother's illness made it quite impossible for her to afford school in any other way. she also got a job almost as soon as her mother got sick to help defray the costs of the medical fees. Even with these measures, they were forced to sell the house she had grown up in and move to a less savory part of town. she worked and studied her way through high school, taking as many shifts as she could while maintaining her gpa. so, when the letter came from yale that said she'd been accepted, but that she wouldn't receive a full scholarship she knew that she couldn't go to college. she simply couldn't afford it. she was deeply unhappy, but she had no other recourse but to work more shifts at the diner where she was employed to try to supplement the income she no longer had from her mother working. her mother was living in the hospital full-time. it was during what should have been her fall semester at yale that she received her orb.
shortly after genevieve got dragul's orb, andrew, her best friend who had been in absentia for so long, returned from yale, where he was in the process of getting into a great deal of trouble for plaguarism. they renewed their friendship as he helped her bear up under the increasingly difficult circumstances she found herself in. eventually they were able to realize their mutual, unspoken feelings for each other and become a romantic item, just about the time that dragul did a bad thing for which geneveive tried to take the blame. after they took dragul away, genevieve lived in an unhappy state of shame for nearly two months.
