Every so often Dragul got tired of skulking in the shadows of the Goblin King's court. In some ways it was remarkable that she had been there a year and managed to make no real acquaintances, let alone friends, but she frequently felt uncomfortable around the more glamorous creatures which came to Jareth's court. There were magnificent dragons and unicorns and beautiful elves and fae and all sorts of other races - more than she had ever imagined. It had saddened her that she had not had the opportunity to speak with any of the Atlantean delegation, since she had always been fascinated with mermaids, but it was just as well, because she knew she would become tongue-tied and then her speech impediment would put in an appearance and embarrass her horribly. It was better not to deal with others.

However, she did occasionally tire of being constantly alone and ignored. She realized that goblins were a very common, boring creature in comparison to the others at Court, and actually would have agreed with anyone who said so, based on her own experiences with those of her race, but she wished she could strike up the nerve to talk to someone else, and initiate the conversation. That would be a momentuous occasion, and, what's more, interesting. She hadn't much interest in reading, and if she took one more stroll around the garden she was going to scream.

So, those being the only options she saw available to her, it wouldn't have surprised anyone privy to her thoughts when she pounced not-quite literally on the first passerby she saw, though she quickly took a few distancing steps, wary of the thorns she'd almost noticed too late.

"Hello," she said, before her nerve failed.

Junius almost continued going after he'd been spoken to, thinking that the Goblin surely must have been talking to someone else. Still, a quick glance around informed him that there was no one else to talk to. He stopped, regarding Dragul quietly for a moment. "Hello..." He finally greeted back, brushing a few strands of blonde hair out of his eyes.

People usually didn't like talking to Junius; they really did prefer to stay away from the thorns he had protruding from him, therefore he was really a rather anti-social Dryad. The key to him was getting past his thorns. If befriended it was clear to see that he was perfectly content.

When at first it seemed the dryad would walk past her without taking any notice of her salutation, Dragul was not particularly surprised. Most people tended to ignore goblins around the Court, dull, squalid little creatures that they were reputed to be. Dragul kept herself scrupulously clean, but she couldn't help being otherwise dull. Anyway, it wouldn't have surprised her overmuch if he had kept walking without acknowledging her, so when he did return her greeting she was taken aback, and more than a little embarrassed. It was always awkward to meet males who were more beautiful than she was, and there were a lot of them around, it seemed.

"Erm. Are you new? To Court, I mean. I haven't seen you around before." She formed her words very carefully as she spoke them, ever conscious of the mispronunciations which had plagued her speech most of her life as a result of having a pronouced overbite.

She remembered her manners and blushed, a dark bluish blush spreading across her cheeks. She wasn't sure if she was supposed to curtsy to him or whether it would be appropriate to shake his hand. She knew it would be awkward to hug him in greeting, and she wasn't that demonstrative anyway. She settled for a simple introduction: "I'm Dragul."

Junius blushed shyly as he looked to the Goblin, blinking at her inquiry. "Yes." He nodded quietly, brushing a few strands of his blonde hair away from his face. "I came from above." He added, nodding slightly as if to confirm this to himself.

"My name is Junius." The Dryad skittishly introduced himself, bringing a hand up yet again to nervously play with a piece of his hair. He really didn't talk to people much, but that had a lot to do with the fact that people didn't talk with him much. It could've been the thorns, but it could have also been the fact that he just didn't look that interesting... Either way, he wasn't good with people.
