Let's Play a Game
10, 4, 2

Koiasi
What double quote? Never saw the double quote wink No seriously, never got a double one.

User Image
"Games it is," Lazarus exclaimed when the others all agreed, taking a hold of Odessa's hand and leading the way ", Hmm... How about this game?" It was a sort of card memory matching game, find the matching cards as soon as you could from memory. Lazarus was to go first, doing so in a reasonable amount of time and winning himself a bracelet. He thought it would look beautiful on his girlfriend, so he offered it to her as a gift ", I want you to have this gift. I believe it would look amazing on you, and show just how beautiful you really are."
Giving to Odessa Nervere
User Image

User Image
Yihad paid no attention to what Lazarus said to Odessa as he gave her words of love, just focusing on the game at hand. Hu too didn't do to bad, winning am interesting charm ", Hmm... I kind of like it. Your turn Somansh."
User Image

User Image
"Oh! Uhh... okay," She looked over the cards for a moment before beginning her turn at it, doing so about as good as the others so far. She ended up winning a candy, putting it away and smiling some. This wasn't too bad, and they weren't even starring at her wings! ", Kara or Odessa, one of you two can go next if you want."
User Image

Ziron's Family
14, 9

User Image
Now at the main event, Ziron let Axum-Vesta lead them around the place, having a hard time keeping up with the active child. She sure was fast, maybe she would be the athletic type? They would be proud of her no matter what she became, but right now they were envisioning her as an athlete.

The first game she picked wasn't too hard, Ziron winning a scream bar which they held proudly. They had won a game, and their daughter was doing an even better job than they had!
User Image

User Image
After her daddy had played, she knew that she would be able to beat them easily! She ended up doing way better than them, winning some candy and a plushie! Too bad it was a poop candy, but the plushie was good! It was cute and pink after all. How could one not go wrong with pink?
User ImageUser Image

Water Buddies
6, 7

User Image
This next game was something Coralie found easy, throwing water balloons at a target to get points toward a prize. She had a really good throwing arm apparently, winning some candy AND a plushie. She was about to tell Awanata about her prizes until she noticed what her friend got ", What is that?!"
User ImageUser Image

User Image
"Honestly... I think it is some bones," She admitted to her friend, looking down at the skull she was holding ", I couldn't hit the target... so I won some bones I guess? Oh well, I can't win big on all the games right? How about we head to the next game?"
User Image

Etc...
3, 3

User Image
Now Rodina had found an easy game to win. It was a bean bag toss game, her easily being able to get high points with her limited throws. In the end she won a cheap goblet and a plush toy. Finally! She was starting to win something decent!
User ImageUser Image

User Image
Now this was why people came to these events, to win plush toys! Kerigade understood it better now after winning his biggest win yet, a spider! It was just such a lovely sight to behold, and he couldn't help but snuggle this one too. There was so many plushies to collect... he had to get as many of them as he could!

User Image“Fine… fine if it means that much to you, then I suppose you can make me a plushie to add to my collection” Vanna mock sighed like it was the worst thing in the world. He did however groan when Mai and Kingston started plotting. He’d worry about his reputation but the point was that he was rather effective at what he did, and like he said unpredictability had kept him alive all this time. Still he should probably warn Yami of all the crazy things that were probably about to happen in his café.

It was about then that the night decided to get more interesting when someone dumped something on Ren. Mai got in the way and stopped it and then Vanna had to get in the way and catch whatever the kid was throwing at them. He gave said kid a look from behind Mai and the kid thought it was a better idea to run away. Geez, youth today.
User Image

User Image“Well brother always complains that he has to deal with a bunch of annoying people all day long and-“Mai started.

“I do not Mai”

“Yes absolutely and those that didn’t pass Vanna could do one of those boss moves and Yami would just escort them out” She finished. “Oh… I would be absolutely happy to give you my number.” Mai replied with a happy tone. After all she was always looking to make new friends even if she really wasn’t very good at it.

It was then she saw someone moving up behind Ren. She unfortunately didn’t get to him in time but she did still stop the whole container from falling on him. The kid freaked out at being caught started throwing things at her… which Vanna caught and ran away.
User Image

User ImageRen nodded showing he totally agreed with Kingston about the whole meeting up. He would be happy to give the grimm his phone number. Tonight wasn’t turning out so bad… of course now that he had said that the universe would probably deem to prove him wrong in some manner.

It was about then that some one walked by and dumped a thing of slime on him… oh he hadn’t missed that. Luckily Mai wrestled the container out of their hand before the whole thing was dumped on him. You know he hadn’t missed that from the time before he had become friends with. Suddenly a handkerchief was thrown at him and Vanna pointed towards his head. With an embarrassed blush Ren went to at least get the goop off his antennae.

User Image“Does thwart Lace when it comes to dragging me around the mall count? I guess I share a like of reading with Samhain or playing various card games” Salem replied. There were some other things but hardly things that fit into the scope of this conversation. “Yeah I guessed force my way out is another way to lable it. Ah no I didn’t not bully my way out this time I kind of just took over.” He took a sip out of the offered drink and looked over at a nearby stall.

Accessories weren’t his thing. In fact he hated wearing them. They were more a Samhain thing but he supposed it was Haunted Hallows after all. He could try to be festive. With that in mind he picked out a simple bracelet and paid the vendor for it. Lace would say that it even matched his colors.
User Image
Lural

User ImageWell he had kind of started entertaining the idea of finding homes for the cats. His house had a lot of familiars and really it was only the top two floors above the café and he did already have Shogi and Uno on top of them… and he was going to help raise a poor fennekit and another vespercat… ah… it could make a poor little hybrid’s head spin.

“well I hadn’t yet, but I was thinking about it. I live on top of a café and I definitely want tons of room for all of them to play. Since you helped me soo much and were the ones to rescue them from under that building. Would you like to take two?”

‘aww what an adorable pair of freshlings’
an older. what Amatsu assumed was a granny type, lady replied. She pinched Amatsu's cheeks before apparently giving him a plushie and walking off… old people were soooooooo weird. He turned to Lapis with the weirdest expression.
User Image

User Image“hmm over there?” Xiaoshi quietly repeated and looked over to where Xiaoshi was gesturing. It seemed like it was a spooky hedge mage. She could totally handle that. They tended to put all the really creepy things in the haunted houses/buildings type of things or so she had been warned. A hedge mage would be a nice start. "Yeah that would be a lovely place to start."

Of course as she went to move towards the hedge mage something curled around her feet and she had to use her tails again to keep from tripping. Looking down was a fennekit. It looked up indignantly at her as if to say “pick me up. Her companion on her shoulder also cheeped as if to agree. What was with the familiars today.
User Image

User Image“then I’ll definitely give you the next one that comes my way” Nasai beamed carefully reaching down to pick up Cherie’s revenant. She made sure she had a really secure hold and that it was comfortable. She didn’t want any harm to come to it. It felt softer than she had expected two. It was about then that another revenant showed up making pitiful or at least nasai classified it as pitiful sounds. Nasai set Cherie’s revenant down again and walked over to the little guy leaning down. It sniffed her hand before twirling around her legs.

Welp… Revenant gained and hey it looked like there was a plushie haphazardly just stuffed in the bush it was next to. Nasai picked both of them up before offering Cherie the plushie. “Plushie for you”

Aurelia admired her pretty sugar skull, honestly not wanting to put it into her bucket; she just wanted to stare at it forever. She didn't know WHY she liked it so much but she DID. Someone ran by tossing some kind of candy at people, laughing maniacally as they did. Aurelia managed to catch one only to discover it was....a gummy poo? She snorted back a chuckle, not sure if she should be mad or amused. Just as she dropped it into her bucket a junior came up to her dressed like a mummy and just slowly slid a little sphinx plushie into her bucket, shushing her with a wink before they just wandered off. This was....turning into a weird night.

Iolanthe was busy admiring her new bracelet when she looked up and saw a game that made you knock over decorated bottles to win prizes. It looked pretty fun so she skipped over and paid for a round. She tried once; missed. Twice; missed again. Getting frustrated she hurled the next one with all her might and actually knocked the tower of bottles over! The vendor congratulated her and handed her her prize for knocking one tower over; a delicious lollipop that was tied to this weird fuzzball plushie. It's face was just so derpy that Io couldn't help but giggle when she saw it.

Kohaku put the strange turnip into their bucket and decided to move on, keeping Seeker close in tow. They were approached by a little Grimm girl who was handing out chocolate bats, smiling at the baphomet as she approached them. "Sorry if they're a little melty." She apologized as she handed the treat to Kohaku, giggling as she wandered off to the next person she'd hand it to.

User ImagePerigor asked no questions, merely following where his new friend led. He noticed that Prometheus was pushing Xei's wheelchair instead of letting his brother wheel himself around. Was that normal, or was it weird? People had someone to push them in the movies, but in real life, they tended to propel themselves. Oh well. Peri didn't care all that much about the answer, merely keeping in step with Prometheus and Xei. He looked out ahead of them and nodded. "The guessing game, that sounds like a good place!" he said. Someone brushed past him and handed him two objects, a goblet shaped like a pumpkin and another cycloptic plushie. As Perigor touched the goblet, an ugly crack formed in the side. "Urgh," he said.

User ImageUser Image

User ImageHisteol followed the sound of Xei's wheelchair, allowing Haint to establish a safe distance between them and the machine. "Is that the same one that used to be run by our old science teacher?" he asked. Someone handed him a lollipop, which he promptly put in his bucket. "Well, at least they're not throwing stuff at us," he sighed.

User Image

User ImageUstule nodded. "Yes," she said. "Thet ees en improvement." She looked at Perigor's plushies solemnly. "Yes, I cen give you two buttons. I assume you need one een green end one een orange?"

No one handed Ustule anything, but she was fine with that, because at that moment her train of revenants increased by a third. It dropped a tooth on her toe, which she gingerly picked up. "Erm, thenk you." She looked over at Prometheus. "How ees your revenant doing, by the way?"

User ImageCal's turn again to guess which pumpkin had a prize in it. She was not in luck, however--the pumpkin she picked turned out to have one of those really cheap pieces of plastic that broke easily. She sighed. "I'd feel better about these things if a good manufacturer made some," she muttered to Eidil.

User Image

User ImageEidil nodded in sympathy. "Yeah, that's a bummer," she said. "Hey, I think we should maybe move on after this," she added. "That way, we give other people an opportunity to enjoy this game." She flashed the vendor a smile. "It's been a lot of fun!"

Eidil carefully chose her pumpkin, settling her new bat on her shoulder at the same time. She nodded with satisfaction at the result--a stuffed bat with a stick of gum tied to it. "Thanks!" she said to the vendor. "We'll recommend you to other people we meet!"

User ImageUser Image

User ImageIn the end, they both agreed to try their luck at a memory card game. Anchriesel went first and did well--he managed to match one pair. He claimed a bag of eye candies as his prize and stepped aside for Zalir's turn.

User ImageIt was time to go, and Darryl led the way by tugging his mother's hand and pointing in the direction of houses nearby. Mesektet hesitated, then murmured, "I suppose if Lillian told us we can go ahead..."

Please, Darryl thought. Before he could say or do anything to press the matter, however, someone random in the crowd threw cotton candy and a plushie at him.

Mesektet was on them in an instant. "How dare you throw things at children?!" Darryl shook his head, embarrassed. It was cotton candy and a plush, so it hadn't hurt, and anyway, it was good treats, not yucky ones. What was Mother's problem?

User ImageUser Image

User ImageEvey blushed. Had her suspicion been that obvious? She had jumped to a conclusion, a very hurtful one about a stranger. "I shouldn't have thought that," she murmured to Talya. She gave her friend's hand a squeeze. "Thanks for setting me straight."

Apparently, it was time to start their trick-or-treating in earnest. Lillian would be along later--they'd call her to let her know where they were. In the meantime, Evey got an eye full of candy when she turned around, just before her mother stormed off to give the assailant a verbal boxing around the ears. Evey groaned, clutching her eye, then parted her fingers to look at the scene. She giggled. Oh, this was going to be good. The candy-thrower had hit her right in the eye, which hurt, quite a lot. "One of the disadvantages of being a cyclops," Evey sighed.

User Image

User ImageXenophon rushed to Evey's side. "Are you okay?" He was sort of curious what Evey had been talking to Talya about--he felt like maybe Evey was a little suspicious of Jurvik. This was a big demerit, but that didn't cover up the fact that she'd just been hit in the face with a bag of candy.

The assailant, chastised by a half-Naga in their face, bashfully turned to the rest and simply handed them the gifts they had been intending to give them. Xeno got a bag full of skull candy, which he accepted solemnly. "Thank you," he said.

User Image

User ImageNkiruka hesitated. But her father was being sincere, she knew that. "I don't want to ruin Xeno's night," she whispered. "He wanted to go trick-or-treating with me and with his friends."

"Xeno will understand," Jurvik murmured. "You two will get plenty of opportunities to spend time together at festivals. There are a few every year, so don't worry about it."

Ruka took a deep breath. "I'd like to go with you. Just with you."

Jurvik nodded. "I'll tell the others," he said. He stood up to talk to the rest of the group. Ruka took his hand and tagged along shyly, followed by her two new pets. A third one had joined them. She blinked at the bright green and black rat, which was holding a box of raisins in its paws. With her free hand, she carefully scooped up the rat. When her father had finished explaining things, she held the rat up to him. "Would you like this?" she asked shyly.

Jurvik's markings glowed. "Of course I would, Nkiruka," he murmured. "Thank you so much!"

User Image

User Image <-- gifted to Jurvik

User ImageTalya patted Evey on the back. "Don't worry about it," she said. "I'm sure Xeno will forgive you if you apologize. Hey!" This last bit was directed at that scoundrel who had hurt her friend. She was soon storming after Mesektet and laying into them. This was probably why the candy-thrower tried to mollify her with a stuffed animal as well as some candy floss. She hesitated. It was a spider! Spiders were gross!! On the other hand, it was pink, and her mind went to her games with her stuffed animals. Rook, the knight, didn't have a mount yet... "Thank you," she said stiffly. She took her treats and marched right back to the group.

At the news that their group would be truncated once more, Talya frowned. She'd been looking forward to having a large group, but on the other hand, the freshlings were clearly uncomfortable with each other, and Ruka was clearly uncomfortable with the adults. "We understand," she said. "You two have a good trick-or-treating, okay? Have fun! We can meet you back here when we're done so that you can all go home together." Wait, she was forgetting something... "Er, Xeno, assuming you're going with us?"

User ImageUser Image

User ImageZalir stepped up and looked over the cards. They'd all been shuffled since Chries had taken his turn, so zey wouldn't be able to guess anything from his guesses. Zey hesitated, then started picking zeir cards. Luck was with them--there was a match, and zey won a stick of cotton candy for zeir efforts.

User ImageQuilo's enthusiasm was definitely lagging, but he rallied himself to ask Yaviss what the Goblin wanted to do next. Yaviss gave his suggestion and Quilo nodded. Ah, yes, the pumpkin luck game. Pick up the pumpkin, any pumpkin, and see what you get for a prize. Pretty simple. Quilo went first and won a stick of cotton candy. It was the same color as Ella was. He sniffed and put it away hurriedly, hoping no one had seen that.

User Image

User ImageYaviss's luck at the pumpkin game wasn't as good as Quilo's. His own pumpkin bagged him a pack of gum that didn't look all that good. But perhaps his luck was greater than he thought. He looked down at his new fluffy cat to see a slender green one sniffing the black cat's face. They seemed to be getting along well together, a pleasant surprise. Yaviss smiled. "Want to come home with us, stranger?"

He turned to Quilo when he heard a sniff and noticed that the Geist hybrid's face was changing color. Yaviss frowned. What did someone do in these circumstances? "Hey, man, are you okay?"

User ImageUser Image

User ImageSound Lee was definitely getting tired, though not enough to leave quite yet. After all, Vederat didn't have everything he wanted yet. He hoisted his bucket up higher on his shoulder as they continued along their way. The next house was more hit-and-miss than the others. Once again, Sound Lee found himself getting the short end of the stick with a glass eye.

User Image

User ImageThis house was fantastic! Vederat loved the skeleton theme, with skeletons of several different races dressed up in costumes and standing around as if at a party. Furthermore, Ved got a couple of very nice treats--he got a lollipop and a stuffed cat.

User ImageUser Image

User ImageAurabelle was not normally the sort to pay much attention to how other people were feeling, but ever since getting friends, Aura had found it...useful sometimes to take note of what was going on in their posse. It was pretty plain, for example, that Lee was getting tired. After thanking the adult for a stuffed spider and a box of raisins (yes to the first, ew to the second), Aura fell back to talk to the Bakeneko while their Imp friend went out ahead. "Do you need to go home now?" they asked.

User ImageDenidar looked at the haunted house contemplatively. It was dilapidated. The paint was peeling, the boards were cracked, the windows were practically nonexistent. He shivered, but nonetheless put his hoof on the front step. Put it on, but did not put his weight on it--he didn't trust the architecture or the people running this place. Nothing happened. He put his weight on the step. Nothing happened. He stepped onto the porch itself, which creaked ominously.

Nothing happened. Deni grinned and waved his siblings over, relieved that nothing had happened. That lasted until the last of his siblings, Niol, had stepped foot on the porch, at which point two bird skulls and a paper ghost fell on their heads. "Well, that was...interestin'," said Deni, shuddering. He picked up a bird skull and put it in his pocket. "Shall we?"

User Image

User ImageSara squeaked when the objects fell on their heads, then relaxed and picked up the ghost. "Okay, did not expect that," she said. "Onwards, then?"

User Image

User ImageNiol nodded and picked up the remaining bird skull. "They know we're here, we maht as well."

User Image

User ImageFenaret was pretty happy with the next house they went to, where they were once again asked to perform a skit. This time it was a choice, however--get the usual treat (candy) or do a performance and get a special treat. It was a work-for-your-play thing. Fena and Frankie gladly joined in the game, as did Bath. They were getting really good at it by now. Fena got a box of raisins and a stuffed sphinx, which was really neat, and bid the homeowner a happy Haunted Hallows.

User ImageUser Image

User ImageFrankie also really liked that house. It was awesome! The people there were nice, and they got a stuffed animal each. True, they also got raisins, but that was worth the price of a stuffed animal that was grey, just like Frankie and both of his parents were.

User ImageOriset shuddered. "You're right, Jie," she said. "But the way out is forward." With that in mind, she held her lantern up high and began to explore the room. This was a puppet-maker's workshop, with strings and limbs everywhere. The puppets ranged in size from the size of a child to the size of an adult Daydream or Nightmare. A workman's bench at the far end of the room was covered in pliers, scissors, pins, wrenches, and a pile of prizes. Three stuffed animals and four sticks of cotton candy covered a pile of bones of various sizes. Ori waved her hands at the lot. "Well, I think these are for us. Who wants to take the trick this time?"

In the end, Naihilus volunteered to take the trick. Ori took a stick of red cotton candy and examined the desk for some clue. They couldn't see a door--not yet, anyway--so they couldn't leave yet.

User Image

User ImageWyrdda took a stick of cotton candy as well. It wasn't her favorite treat, but it would be a nice pick-me-up after all of this. She was with the Bakeneko--her own hackles were raised and had been since the skull room. It was going to take a long time for her to calm down. Maybe we should have a cool-down party after all of this, she signed to Oriset. Our room, maybe, after we all get home? We could watch something innocent and sweet?

User Image

User ImageJie listened to the translation Ori gave for Wyrdda while she clutched a stick of cotton candy and a stuffed skeleton. "That sounds like a beautiful idea, Wyrdda!" she chirped. "If you've got a laptop, I know a place we can get rent some DVDs." She grinned sheepishly. "Being an entire culture cut off from the rest of the world, you have a lot of stuff to catch up on."

User ImageUser Image

User ImageKuni wasn't sure if he was in the mood for a party just now. "I dunno," he said. "Maybe. May I decide later?" He took a skeleton that looked unhealthily radioactive, as well as a stick of bright cotton candy.

User ImageUser Image

User ImageNai was left with the last skeleton plush, which was rather cute, actually--he wondered what race it was supposed to represent. A hybrid, he decided--the skull was wrong for almost any race with a tail besides Goblins--and swept the bones off of the table. As he did, he revealed a note. "We're not out of the house yet," he said. "We have to get out of here first. Okay, so, 'what does not belong here'?"

A heavy item thumped in her basket, and she scurried away to the curb eagerly to inspect it. It was a strange item - a clear plastic glove filled with popcorn. Creepy! At least it was in the spirit of the season. She tossed a piece of the popcorn in her mouth to see if it was flavored, but blanched at the stale taste. Just as the group began to gather to leave again, she noticed a fluffy black vespercat approaching her, and even beginning to wind hypnotically around her tail. "Well aren't you the cutest thing," she giggled, hoping it might come home with her... although she already had far too many cats to count.

Jeanette earnestly reached out her bucket, mumbling a "Trick or Treat!" as best as she could manage. She wasn't exactly enthralled with the idea of proposing that strangers gave her candy for free, but when she looked in her bucket and saw a milk chocolate bat melting to the bottom, she felt a thrill run through her. The tiny Neko shoved it in her mouth hurriedly, before it could make a mess of her whole pumpkin-shaped ordeal. "This is pretty good," she said to the kirin beside her, not noticing another kid slipping a plush into her bucket.

Primrose's eyes widened as she saw the mysterious kid walk away, raising her eyebrows at Jeanette. "That kid just gave you a plushie!" she exclaimed, as she was plush-bombed herself with a little bat. She felt like she had so many allergies, but she wanted to work around them tonight. Unfortunately, when she had stated her condition to the volunteer, they had stuck a big orange allergy! button on her shirt. "They gave me this ghost," she said, hanging up the dangling thing. It was cute, but it wasn't exactly what she would call a "treat."

Kiki, however, was more than pleased about the treat she had received, licking the cranium of the sugar skull with gusto. "It's a cute ghost," she said to Prim, but after a moment's thought, she said, "my skull is cuter, though." The little hybrid wondered what her two siblings were up to, as they'd been separated into other groups. She supposed it wasn't of utmost importance, but doing things without them was strange. She'd still like to make other friends, though.

Areka grabbed her treat with enthusiasm, only to feel the gross texture of an old, cracked tooth. Was it real? She dropped the item into her bucket, feeling the emotion flood back into her chest. Giggling with glee, Areka took another treat - a plushie - from the person's doorstep. It looked kind of like her! A bright green center with purple wings, it was almost an exact replica of the little hybrid. Areka fluttered her wings excitedly, ready to head to the next door.

Emma blinked sadly at the treat she was handed. This was most definitely not candy. Who gave out raisins during Haunted Hallows? She looked around at the other kids eating candy and collecting plushies, and frowned. "No fair," the usually cheerful freshling whined, letting the old box of dried grapes hit the bottom of her bucket with a dull thud.

User Image"Tally-ho!" Gilly called out as her vespercat dove into the crowd, it's pumpkin-hued coat making it easy to spot. When Gilly caught up to it, it was sitting in front of a huge vat that hummed and seemed to be full of colorful smoky wisps of cotton. A senior baphomet with what appeared to be a stack of paper cones on each of his horns was dancing and twirling about in front of the vat, sticking one of the paper cones in and dancing around as though he were trying to stir a cauldron while on hot coals.
Gilly watched him until he finally stopped, and clapped her hands in delight as he pulled out the paper cone, which was now brimming with colorful, fluffy cotton candy. Winking, he reached over the vat and handed it to Gilly, who took it eagerly. "That's so cool, mister! Do it again!"

This time when the vespercat took off, Zoe was eager to follow her friend through the crowds of colorful people and lights and booths. When she stopped beside Gilly, she watched in mesmerized fascination at the way the cotton candy artist deftly shaped it into the most attractive shape. When her friend asked him to do it again, he smiled and pulled a cone from his other horn. twirling it in his hands and performing a series of flashy dance moves before pulling it out again, piled high with fluffy cotton candy. He handed it to her and gave her a small wave. Shyly waving back, she turned and tore off a small piece with her teeth; it was the best she had ever had. Maybe Gilly's cat WAS magically good at finding good stuff!

Ruari was still pondering on how he was going to use the scream bar (if it in fact DID have magic), when he noticed a group of freshlings running eagerly toward a particular door, where a smiling imp couple were handing out large, colorful bags of candy. He quickened his pace and came up right behind the freshling group, towering over them as they stood there. When the last one had gone, he stepped up and smiled a nice smile and held his pail out. "A joyous Haunted Hallows to you, lord and lady!"
The male's eyebrows shot up at seeing an older kid at his door, but the female simply melted at Ruari's words. "Oh my stars, what a CHARMING young man you are! Here, there's some candy for you!" Ruari nodded and took the large bag of candy corn, gave his most stately bow (not-so-stately as he tripped a little on his royal robe, dislodged when his friend jumped off of his shoulder) and waved at them in thanks as he walked off. Without missing a beat, the vespercat jumped back onto his shoulder and looked down it's nose with an air of smug approval at the large bag of candy corn.

Altair had managed to give their parents the slip again; Alshain had slipped off like his twin's shadow, awed by his ability to forge ahead without a force in the world being able to hold him back.

As Alshain scurried in Altair's wake, the unexpected happened.

Altair played one of the carnival games and won a doll. It was a strange, oddly maudlin, c**k-eyed thing. And then Altair turned around to actually address him, Alshain, in public! Alshain's heart skipped a beat, and he drew himself up as tall as he could, when the doll was shoved unceremoniously into his arms!

Suddenly, she was no longer maudlin or homely, but beautiful, glorious, perfect. Altair's labours had won her for his very own. That made her the best that had ever been lovingly crafted by mortal hands.

"Thank you! I will treasure her dearly! My little...Mirabelle!"

Nashira:

"Um... I wouldn't say so, but if you find it enjoyable? I hope you aren't upsetting Lace when you do that though." Of course, she had never been dragged around by a friend to go shopping. Maybe it wasn't fun? She didn't know. "Well, are you having fun now?" She wondered, when Sam... no, Salem, looked at the next booth and picked up a bracelet.

She looked at her own wrist before holding it up to show him her own. "We match now." She was smiling ever so faintly. While she was showing her bracelet to Salem, someone sneaked a strange bottle of liquid into her bucket. But then, someone bumped it when trying to place a plushie in. The kid squeaked, tossed the plushie at her and ran. Nashira caught the little bat thing after it bounced off her chest. "...That was odd. But it's cute that people are sneaking presents into our buckets."

Kingston:

Kingston smiled at Vanna, but before he could say anything, some kids seemed to come over and dump some kind of slime on Ren. That was RUDE! The grimm found himself growling, and suddenly started chasing the kids as they ran away. He was half yelling, half barking at them, calling them punks, and several less savory things.

He came back a few minutes later, his tail fluffed out and he was miffed! It looked like Mai was doing damage control and helping Ren clean up. He sighed, but it was also kind of a growl. "They got away. I couldn't get them to apologize. I'm sorry, Ren." His ears folded back and he looked at the younger students. "I did manage to grab this from them though." He held up a purple bracelet. "It looks like we match, Mai." He said softly.

Vega:

Vega sat down in the grass away from the festivities to play with his familiars a little. He wanted to get to know them. His new fennekit was in his lap, and the flitterat was wandering near by. As he was petting his new furry friend, someone came by and offered him a sugar skull. A kid shouldn't be sitting so far from all the fun alone. Vega shared his new treat with his friends (Just tiny pieces of course).

Meadow:

Meadow shuffled his feet before rubbing the back of his head shyly. "Hey, you know, you should take pictures of it before you eat it, so you'll remember it forever! Then you can eat it." That was smart, right? "So come on, let's go play some games!" He reached for Aurelia's hand to kind of pull her along so they could find a game booth. They came to one where there were floating ghosts in a pool of water. The ghosts each had a colored dot on the bottom that would let the vendor know what prize you won. "Let's play this!" Meadow said, waiting for his turn. When he did, he picked up a ghost with a little white dot, and was offered a choice of chocolate bats. He picked out one that looked really good.

Charon:

Someone called his name. Charon turned and looked, then took off running. Whoops! He had hit on his girlfriend earlier. A rock hit him in the back of the leg, and a plushie landed on his head. He laughed and felt stupid as he ran around, avoiding the guy for a while. Eventually he lost him and put the strange one-eyed plush in his basket. And was that rock... the one that hit him? Maybe! He picked it up and dropped it in his bucket quickly. Whoa. He did not like how it felt to touch that rock...

Keahi:

Somehow, Keahi dozed off on the bench, surrounded by their new plushies. While they didn't know how long they were out, Keahi woke up with another plushie resting against them, and a little paper ghost hanging on one of their stubby horns.
